"You can't live without your heart."I really appreciated that the author didn't write a formulaic, made-to-order story here. These types of books are HARD to pull off, and I'm happy to report the author succeeded with Conor Thames.
He wasn't all that beautiful to look at, but you were drawn to him, nonetheless. So I cringe-slogged© (lol) my way through the first 25%. One of my only requirements of authors is that they stage their stories on a somewhat even playing field, and that was not the case in the beginning between Charlotte and Conor.
...that fucking confidence he possessed was so damn alluring.. . . who took advantage of that.
I wasn't emotionally advanced enough for this. But while I wasn't thrilled with events, Charlotte made a conscious decision and I respected her for that.
It seemed cruel to think you could be trapped inside your body, wanting nothing more than to expel the tremors in the form of violence. And I loved how he embraced the emotions being around Charlotte evoked. He manned-up and his devotion to her was wonderful.
"You don't ever need to be afraid when I'm around."Unfortunately, a few things in the plot didn't quite add up for me, and I didn't like the lack of a concrete setting or how the author chose to dip her toes in the drama pool near the end.
