Excellent writing by Bella J, as usual...
BUT there was smth missing in the plot...it seemed a bit flat at certain points in the story like with no concrete action yet slow flowing motion and that somehow felt like "out of place"/misplaced, like it shouldn't be there in the first place.
Other than that, Bella J always leads her characters towards their HEA and delivers the goods! *wink*

Gritty, MC romance…
This is the second in the American Street Kings series and it starts off with a twist! Granite and Alyx’s story continues, with more waves than you could imagine. Well, you probably can if you read Depraved. Their obsession with each other was absolute, filled with a darkness that was all-encompassing…
The blows didn’t stop coming and in this story more so than ever. The schmexy was never far away, yet the battle between the clubs was the real story. There was no moment for quiet or reflection here as one bloody confrontation followed another. I yearned for more time between Granite and Alyx, even as they fought to do just that.
A cliffhanger I didn’t see coming means this couple may have found solid footing but that didn’t mean the ground wasn’t shaking. Secondary characters are going to get their time in the spotlight and I will be there waiting for it… ~Diane, 3.5 stars

Dnf at 20%.
I had high hopes for this American Street Kings series because I FREAKING ADORE Bella J’s dark romances, and her devilishly sexy anti-heroes are to die for!!! But, sadly, this duet was a miss for me....
While far from perfect, book one, DEPRAVED, had potential but DEFIANT really fell apart for me.
There was no forward progression of the plot in the first five chapters—and zero H&h interaction. Just oodles of gratuitous violence, a ton of rehashing of past events, and a lot of sulking/moping around. And as a consequence, this story just lost its appeal.
I honestly could never quite connect with this couple in book one, and even less so in this installment. For some reason, the author seemed more swept up in focusing on the Kings’ gritty MC World then in crafting a captivating, soul consuming romance between Granite and his “ballerina girl.” So perhaps if more time had been devoted to building them as a couple I would have felt differently.
Bottom line? I gave it the old college try but ultimately could not bring myself to continue...
While I am bummed that this American Street Kings series fell short for me, I am still a MEGA Bella J. Fan—her Twisted Duet is one of my fave dark mafia series of all time! She has incredible writing prowess and can pen a high octane romance that truly resonates. So this one miss is just a tiny blip on the radar and I definitely look forward to more books from her!

Defiant is the second book in the American Street Kings series and this book is gritty, raw and packed full of chaos and mayhem. Granite will show us that underneath that hard exterior hides the heart of a lion. Alyx will be consumed by guilt and it will take Granite having his hand forced to disclose the truth that may just release her from this. As an obsession with each other becomes so much more, this ride to acceptance might just be one full of unexpected twists and turns. Their story will have you on the edge of your seat and hanging on tight. It packs a punch and has you holding your breath right to the very end. This book is bold, sexy and has these characters not only showing strength but also vulnerability. Granite and Alyx may not have chosen the easy ride to love but these two will have you falling in love right along side them. I put my lid on, swing my leg over the bike and wrap my arms around the American Street Kings because thankfully the ride with the brothers is far from over.

I've won an ebook copy of Defiant and I'm so glad I entered the giveaway because I really needed it. I started Defiant right after Depraved, the first book of this duet and I must say, these are the best MC books I've ever read. Alyx and Granite were really made for each other.
Can't wait for the next story of one more of the American Street Kings.

Defiant the second book in the series and the conclusion on Alyx and Granite’s story. A small cliffhanger leading into book 3 which is another club members story. I did enjoy book one more but I loved Granite and his ballerina girl together. Opposites attract!!

5 bad ass stars!!! I am in love with this book!!
This is book two in the “American Street King’s” series and can not be read as a stand alone. This book continues on right from where “Depraved” left off. Alyx and Granite’s story continues on...
First of all, this series is crazy good. I am in love with some American King’s!! I need all their stories right now!! This book brought me closer to Onyx and Ink. I’m am so fucking intrigued. Alyx and Granite are still perfect. I love the dark with the light. I love how he has tainted her slightly. It’s all so damn hot!! Speaking of hot.. Granite is that and then some. He is what wet dreams are made of!!

Alyx has grown so much and found herself. Yea she has this heart that ends up letting her try and destroy herself for wrong doings of others but she is a beautiful woman. I wasn’t so sure about her before but I think she is just what Granite needed. These two are flammable when together!!
This book was perfectly broken. It broke your heart, gave you hope, made you angry, made you hot and sweaty, made you laugh and so much more. This is one of my favorites from Bella. She is a great author and I love all the twisted shit she puts out. This is a definite must read series. And I can not wait for more!!

Just like the first book, Depraved, this second book is absolutely absorbing from the very first page. Terrifying but absorbing!
The descriptions are so real it’s uncanny. There is no doubt, no haziness at all as to what is happening and how each character is feeling in each scene; the visuals as you read are truly like being at the movies. As well, you experience the full gambit of emotions and honesty at times feel a little wrung out. Yet at other times I was elated and delighted.
The turf and business war between Granite and the American Street Kings MC and Slither and the Pythons MC continues, and as with all battles-it’s brutal. Caught in the middle is Alyx and the anguish she goes through is immense but then so does Granite and all of the Kings.
I love the twists and turns this story takes, a story that’s unpredictable is one that keeps you on your toes and the virtual edge of seat, bring it! A very clever ending too! 😉

DEFIANT - resistant, obstinate, uncooperative, non-compliant, recalcitrant, confrontational, challenging; This book is all these things and more! If you thought the 1st book Depraved was mind blowing then the second is explosive.
Love sometimes isn't pretty add in obsession and it can be over powering for Alyx and Granite these emotions have the potential to either destroy them both or be the one true thing we are search for!
As the club go into hiding after the brutal kidnapping of Neon the American Street Kings and its President need to work out how they can rid the streets of Slither once and for all before the streets run clean with blood on both sides. But lurking in the dark is someone just waiting to take Alyx away from Granite the man she wants; the man that brings fear to everyone who knows him. The man that rules the streets of New York.
This second books concludes Alyx and Granites story for now but I can't wait for the next one!

Having finished book 1, I absolutely HAD to dive into this action-packed sequel which I read in one sitting...overnight.
Granite and Alyx’s story only got more INTENSE. As I continued reading, I found myself more and more invested not only in their story and HEA, but in all the characters as well. And boy, oh boy. They were all deep in the situation that only seemed to get worse and worse. Talk about a page-turner!!
Bella J has created a dark masterpiece that definitely isn’t for the faint of heart and yet oh, so worth every heart-pounding, cringe-worthy moment.
Books 1 and 2 focus on Granite and Alyx but 3 and 4 focus on other club members. That said, book 2’s ending lines up perfectly for book 3 which I am guessing is Onyx’s book (Granite’s brother and club VP). So yes, I definitely recommend reading all the books in order.

Alyx finds herself consumed with guilt, and Granite continues to dominate, he has to, he has to be committed to his decisions and show his authority in the club.
The story’s terrific, there’s intense action, violence, mystery, betrayal and steamy scenes. And Granite and Alyx still fight their way through their strange and damaged relationship, will they ever settle their differences, where will the rocky road they have chosen take them?
Lots of twist and turns that will leave you gasping and a mystery to keep you guessing. Lots of suspense and a cliffhanger. OooWee! I can’t wait for the #3

Wow! This book is so, so good! I loved Depraved & the complex relationship between Alyx and Granite. And despite the way in which it began I really wanted them together. Alyx is the light to Granites darkness and that’s why they work so well, she’s pure and he’s tainted.
This book is just as dark, if not slightly darker. And it is so well written that it grips you from the first pages. I’ve absolutely loved these 2 books by Bella J and think she’s an amazing author and can’t wait to read other works by her.

Great story with some twists to keep you on your toes.
Granite's love for Alyx is so intense its almost scary, but at the same time what at least some women want.
I love the dynamics between each of the Kings. Each member is different, yet the same in so many ways. It makes it fun to read to see who is going to loose their sh*t next.

Addictiveness: 5/5 Wow wow wow! All I can say! So many twists and turns. Wow! As addictive as chocolate!!!
Character: hero 5/5, heroine 5/5, secondary characters 5/5, growth 4/5, real 5/5 Multidimensional characters with interesting layers to them, they were all very easy to connect.
Granite... he just got better. I love his filth mind. I swear, the imagination of this man, is amazing. He is an amazing leader and now he is doing the hardest thing, the ultimate sacrifice. Wow! Loved his story arch!!!
Alyx... what a warrior. She has been fighting in her own way, her entire life. Fighting her parents, her body, her mind... she is so strong and an amazing friend. I love her friendship with Neon. She is such a great support for Granite. I love the woman she has become. Loved her!!!
Onyx is coming and is going to be crazy. Onyx will have to grow up and do smart decisions instead of impulsive ones. What about his relationship with Granite, that is intense!
Ink, Neon, can't wait! I love these characters.

Still a bit generic, but it feels sexy and classy at the same time. It is not blond like Alyx, but still feels like her.I love the title. The colors and font are perfect for the vibe of the book. I would buy this book by its cover without needing to read the blurb!
Freshness: 4/5 It is good. This story has so many twists and turns that you are not expecting that it feels new. As fresh as ice cream in a summer day!

I know this story has not ended yet. It has a lot to come, but I also enjoyed how the author gave us a sort of HEA for Alyx and Granite. They are together and happy as possible inside this crazy violent world they live in.

Writing Style: 5/5 I love this duet inside of the series and this felt sort of a happy ending one. I love the plot, I adore the characters and the smut here was over the top. Really, I'm in love with the writing. Wordsmith!!!
I guess the only think I can say that could be better is the end. This is not the end of this series, so there are still a lot of mysteries and subplots to be solved.
These characters are so troubled and so lovable!!!

I really love Bella J. She is a favorite of mine. This series has been on my tbr for some time. I wish I read it sooner. I really liked Granite and Alyx story. I read a lot of mc romanes. They are my favorite types of men lol. I haven't read a plot like this in a mc series before.
If you haven't read this yet definitely give it ago. Overall I did enjoy it.
I will say it has triggers, they didnt trigger me but some of the parts about an eating disorder I didn't like to read. It wasn't for me. The mc side and the overall plot I loved.
Both books on th couple 4 star.

What started as an obsession turns out to be a toxic tale of defiance, lies, guilt, love, romance, submission and revenge. A plot to save not one, but all of Kings requires Granite to think hard. But when agony strikes, it destroys everything in its wake.
It makes you sympathize with the president of American Kings club. Why he is what he is in present. You can't help but cheer for him and at the same time smack his head for being a stubborn hole! Yes, he continued to be a pain, not only for Alyx, but for us but this pain was pleasure worthy. Even kinky, if I may add!

Picking up from where we left in Book 1, Alyx has been moved to a secure place and is grieving the losses faced in her life. Help comes in anonymous forms and men. I almost shipped Onyx and the little ballerina girl once but our hero's magnetic pull is hard to deny. Sparks have already flown and now it's time to combust. I love their chemistry. This author makes you feel things that her characters feel. So deep. So intense. It's rivuleting. The pain that they go through breaks my heart into millions of pieces. It's even hard to breathe at some point of time. She makes you go through each word like an addict and then you come back for more. The progress that our leads make in this story is just outstanding. This story evocated some serious feels, I tell you. The danger lurked around the Kings like their next breath. Threats are in form of snake like creature man called Slither. May you die in hell man! But rest assured people, plotting and climax are something Bella expertises in so all's well that ends well.

DEFIANT is Phenomenal. One of my best reads of 2019. Bella continues to charm us with her sly words, sneaky characters and liberating plotlines. This author can write any fucking thing and make it a best seller. I am super pumped for the next characters including Onyx, Ink, Dutch and more.....

DEFIANT is the second part to Alyx and Granite's story and cannot be read as a standalone.
Following on from the first book DEPRAVED, the angst, danger, threats from a club rival and bloodshed continue while Alyx who is the Police commissioners daughter also still remains a captive to the American street Kings MC and under Granite's spell.
This is no ordinary captive falling for her captor kind of romance, Alyx and Granite already had this weird lust from a distance, through a window thing going on for a while even before she was taken/kidnapped but their relationship becomes more real now, definitely more physical, Granite finally has her in his possession and as days pass she begins to realise she possesses him just as much.
There's a lot of angst in DEFIANT, dark and gritty scenes, there was ways something happening and its a hard book to put down once you start.
Alyx was once a controlled child, moulded into what her mother wanted her to be and even as an adult she didn't have the strength to break free, until Granite. I enjoyed the conclusion but I still needed that little bit more to convince me Alyx was finally happy, healthy and content especially with what she had suffered from her mother.
This book does end on a sort of cliffy but it has more to do with what is going on in the club rather than Alyx and Granite's relationship.
I would read the next book in the series, the other characters are interesting and despite the grit and darkness in he plot, this MC is one of the good ones were they treat each other as family and look after their own.
Looking forward to the next book in the series.

This book is just what I expected, hoped for and definitely what I needed. Though I still want more! It’s dark and twisted, gruesome at times but has some much needed tender moments. There are times in this book that the scene is so vivid I felt like I was there watching it unfold. It is emotionally draining and tough to read at times. It is also fantastic!
I knew it or I hoped it was true. Granite has a big secret and I’m glad they called him on it and made him come clean. I liked him more in this book. He’s still scary, but his walls are slowly breaking down and I enjoyed seeing it. He holds on to so much guilt with the responsibility of his position, which is sad. The connection between all of these characters is strong. I love how protective they all are towards Alyx. She has definitely wiggled her way into a small part of all of their hearts. She’s strong and has taken huge steps towards her long road to recovery. I enjoyed watching her grow and become more confident.
This is book two of the American Street Kings series. You must read book one Depraved first. I can’t wait to see what is next for the American Street Kings. Ink, Onyx, and hopefully more Granite and Alyx.

Just like the first book, Depraved, this second book is absolutely absorbing from the very first page. Terrifying but absorbing!
The descriptions are so real it’s uncanny. There is no doubt, no haziness at all as to what is happening and how each character is feeling in each scene; the visuals as you read are truly like being at the movies. As well, you experience the full gambit of emotions and honesty at times feel a little wrung out. Yet at other times I was elated and delighted.
The turf and business war between Granite and the American Street Kings MC and Slither and the Pythons MC continues, and as with all battles-it’s brutal. Caught in the middle is Alyx and the anguish she goes through is immense but then so does Granite and all of the Kings.
I love the twists and turns this story takes, a story that’s unpredictable is one that keeps you on your toes and the virtual edge of your seat, bring it! A very clever ending too! 😉
Looking forward to reading the next book in this series but stop! If you haven’t read Depraved, you definitely need to read it first as this is the second half of the duet.

Defiant is the second book in the American Street Kings MC saga, and it is a perfect continuance to the first book, Depraved. It does conclude but leaves open future adventures.
The push and pull between Alyx and Granite continues but with a deeper meaning, leading towards life-altering decisions on the part of both of them. I loved this story; it rang true and believable, and it made me want for these two to finally find their peace and happiness together. And to me, this is a sign of good fiction. Bella made me care; her writing drew me in and held me until the end.
The secondary characters are just as intriguing as the main characters. Will Ink and (?...no spoilers from me!) finally get together? How does Onyx hold up through the coming changes? Manic and Dutch, what happens to them? And Slither... now there’s a villain of truly degrading proportions. The entire cast of characters is fascinating, each deserving of a book of their own. So good, this story, don’t miss out. Highly recommended.

I'm trying to figure out just how to word this review.. I have been waiting for this book, because I needed to know just how things were going to play out. Defiant picks up where Depraved leaves off. So as you know We get an inside look at Alyx and Granite and their infatuation with one another. Alyx gets a hard lesson in everything is not always black and white. There are many shades of gray, and the MC works within these shades.
However, being faced with certain hard truths help her grow as a person.
I do not want to give anything away, BUT let me say this book is jam packed full of action. As things start heating up within the MC, their feelings grow into something more. Truths come to light, and some relationships flourish.
Granite's alpha personality really comes out to play, as does Alyx's submissive personality. With this being said Alyx starts to find out just who she can be while not being under the scrutiny of her mother.
However, being faced with certain hard truths help her grow as a person.
I do not want to give anything away, BUT let me say this book is jam packed full of action. As things start heating up within the MC, their feelings grow into something more. Truths come to light, and some relationships flourish.
