In Maggie Lee’s topsy-turvy world, Angel Delveccio is one of the good guys, but now it seems he’s gotten himself into some trouble. Can Maggie get him out of it?
It’s not like she doesn’t have enough problems of her own. She’s struggling to pacify both the people and pets of her household -- all of whom aren’t shy about voicing their litany of complaints and demands about their new home.
Stretched thin, Maggie attempts to broker familial peace while simultaneously contending with an external threat that revolves around a human skull.
And let’s not forget that a certain mobster has tasked her with keeping his nephew out of hot water.
Can Maggie protect Angel while keeping her family safe and together, or will someone be lost?
Patrick's actions made me mad. Maggie has saved his bacon so many times. I hope that she doesn't let him weasel his way back into her bed. A relationship between them is out as far as I'm concerned.
I wanted more about Angel and you know what I got more about Angel and I'm torn seriously torn he just wasn't who i was hoping he was but then again what man ever is... 'sigh' and in Maggie's world it seems every man is not what she hoped for, Let's take Patrick Mulligan for instance personally after this book I'd like the road runner to drop an anvil of Patrick Mulligan's head that's what I'd like and I kind of think Maggie would high-five me on that thought...
So I kinda think Maggie should pack up and move far far away from her crazy family and all them men who keep letting her down...lol oh if life were that simple... 'sigh'
Maggie truly is awesome though and she always saves the day even in the most unexpected ways and the best part of all is how much she makes me laugh, I truly love Maggie Lee she neer disappoints...
Maggie is stretched thin yet again as she deals with her large crazy family. Never a dull moment for Maggie. There always seems to be something going on that requires her immediate attention. Maggie has slowly been growing into herself though and in this book she turns a little take charge girl with her family and the men in her life. Totally kickass! How she juggles everyone and everything in her life i have no idea. I do know i am always totally entertained and drawn in to each one of these stories. JB Lynn makes you care about the characters. Always keeps you guessing at what's going to happen to Maggie next.
Another amazing installment in the Hitwoman series. My favorite neurotic hitwoman is back and up to her eyeballs with a feuding family! Oh, and Angel needs help! Love Maggie, God, and the rest of her furry family. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
So I do love this series but it’s getting fairly irritating to have a family of strong willed women behave so ridiculously and depend on one person so heavily for sanity. It’s deplorable to speak and treat anyone like they do, let alone a loved one. Im not loving the right it family treating Maggie so poorly. I’m also annoyed at the somewhat repetitive nature of clumsiness displayed by the heroine in dangerous situations that is being played out like a regular trope or avenue of humour that doesn’t land. I’d like to see Maggie succeed on her own merits rather than continuing to just fall over and fail but magically come out okay, it’s really tiresome and I think she should develop as a character to be honest.
Maggie is having issues with her personal life. It just seems like the men in her life aren’t working out. I honestly feel bad for her because these guys seem good and sometimes don’t fit in all the areas of her life but to totally be passed over is a hit to the heart. The animals are consistent and I, glad she has them. The family is good too because in their own way they support her. This just adds to her overall p ogle s with her having a love connections.
Good guys shouldn’t be bad and bad guys shouldn’t be good. Sadly Angel’s halo is in danger of falling and Patrick is in danger of never getting a halo. Somehow Maggie is the solution(s) to all family disputes. At least she has a cavalry, of sorts, to watch he back.
A fun, funny escape, as always. Light, but, not so light that it’s weightless. There’s a real story there. Always keeps my interest. I dole each book out to myself like expensive chocolates, savoring it, and waiting til I really need it before I have another one.
It's fun, silly, and a quick read. I always find the talking animals (of course, only Maggie Lee, the protagonist can understand them, due to a head injury at the beginning of the series) amusing. They all have distinct quirky characters (much like Maggie Lee's friends and family members). The main story-line in the book revolves around Maggie Lee's former "manny" Angel (he is an RN who helped Maggie's niece Katie with recovery from a traumatic brain injury in the first part of the series), who has been acting strangely. For a "straight arrow" kind of guy, he has been keeping bad company of late. His Uncle Delvecchio (a mobster with scruples) is concerned and turns to his number #1 trouble-shooter (and sometime hitwoman) to get to the bottom of Angel's troubles. Of course nothing ever goes smoothly where Maggie Lee is involved! Only this one of several story-lines is fully resolved. A secondary story-line (about "Boy", who appeared in several prior books) is never really developed at all and will likely be the focus of the next book in the series. Another secondary story-line (about Archie's "skull") continues from previous books and will likely be an on-going thread that is slowly spun out. Maggie Lee's crazy friends and family members are always in background of each book, up to insane antics. In this book, they are settling into their new digs at Herschel's (Maggie's long-lost grandfather, who appeared in the last book) farmhouse, but fighting like cats and dogs while they do. It's up to Maggie to referee and try to resolve their difference before the family breaks apart! This is also likely to be a continuing subplot as the series continues. Would not recommend reading this without having read prior books. Although some of the key points from previous books are explained, not all are, and I think you would missing a lot of important information. Also, as I recall, the books do improve as the series continues. If there are some misspellings and typos in the earlier books, know that this improves as the author gains more experience. (Also, be aware that this is actually Book #21 in the series, NOT Book #20 as indicated in the "GoodReads" title).
Wow—can Maggie have more on her plate? Can she be responsible for even more people, places and things? The answer in this book is a resounding “yes!” Maggie and her family are moving into her grandfather’s home after her home has been eradicated. Her family will not stop fighting, both verbally and physically. Maggie is the one they depend on to stop the fights and to keep things as calm as they can possibly be. Armani is basically a family member as well. Maggie is in charge of her family, her pet family (God is basically her best friend) and must also do two jobs she has been contacted to do. One is for Mrs. Whitehat and one is for Delvecchio and concerns Angel. Patrick is around in his hard to pin down role and Zeke is as always enigmatic and Gino becomes an important character. Archie is always lurking as someone that continues to cause her family danger. In the end, she is able to complete one of the jobs in this book—I am assuming the other job will be in the next book—— and she depends mainly on her pet family to prevail in the dangerous situations she is placed in. I loved this book and was sorry when it was over. It was a fun, always action packed book that I read in one sitting.
This is a great book; this is the twentieth book in the Confessions of a Slightly Neurotic Hitwoman series written by J. B. Lynn. I can’t get enough of this series. Maggie Lee can’t catch a break with her crazy family and her pets. She is also a contract killer by accident and works for the head of the local mob and some other organization that she really doesn’t know who or what that is. She also can carry on a conversation with animals. She has recently found her grandfather and her whole family has now moved in with him after their house go blown up. Angel Delveccio the mobster’s nephew has gotten in some trouble. She is tasked into helping him and keeping him safe. She is also determined to keep her family safe. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. I can’t wait for the next book by this awesome author!
I am not sure how Maggie hasn't run off into the hills to escape her crazy and demanding family. This is another great installment for the series. Maggie runs for crisis to crisis as usual. I hope after this installment she finally comes to realize Patrick is not good for her. I had hopes for Angel, but, I think there was a little bit of hint in this one about who might be her next love interest. I hope that now the family has more room apart at Herschel's compound that they settle down a bit (not sure that will happen though). Ms. Lynn does a wonderful job keeping the dialogue flowing and builds a great scene. I highly recommend reading the series in order and it is well worth the purchase.
Another 5 star book in this series! Lots of appearances in this one: Zeke, Jack, Patrick, Ms Whitehat, Armani, Herschel, Leslie, Loretta, Lawrence, Brian, Darlene, Marlene, Angel, Gino, Delveccio and the usual animals along with Herschel's kleptomaniac dog Zippy and Irma the Donkey. The author does an amazing job of weaving all the characters together and making them come to life on the page. Maggie is still trying to keep peace among her family members and she has some help from Armani this time. Delveccio has given her the job of watching out for Angel who has been acting out of character and Ms. Whitehouse has a job for her to do. Can Maggie accomplish everything and remain sane? This is absolutely one of my favorite series!
Another winner! This is a lighthearted mystery filled with humor and talking animals.
In this book, Maggie finds herself pulled in many different directions as she tries to help her family and meet her (illegal) job obligations. When she spots Angel with some nasty characters, she's drawn into his problem, even as he pushes her away.
I love how Maggie has grown and matured over the course of the series. Her relationships have developed and added depth, even as her secret jobs have added more drama.
If you enjoy the genre, you will love this book. The author is on my must read authors' list.
I honestly do not know how Maggie continues to function each day! She is the referee for all her family's drama (which is amplified now that they're all moving into Herschel's place and no one can agree on anything), escaped convicts are searching for her father, she has a job to do for White Hat and also needs to follow Angel for Delvecchio.
This was a fun read, as they always are, and I love all the animals, and the fact that Maggie is not the only one who can hear them.
This book ended with one of Maggie's tasks incomplete, so I look forward to the next book to see how that turns out!
Another hit for JB and for Maggie. Not sure how either one does what she does so well. JB is terrific with her quirky sense of humor. This one had me wondering what Patrick was doing. Certainly he didn’t seem to help Maggie but it was a wild adventure. I love that they all moved in with Grandpa Herschel and Irma, the braying donkey. Nice addition to the animal collection. Angel is a good guy with honor but this time I think he didn’t know what his old buddies were doing. Maggie will survive and will lead the family. She already is. Thank you JB for another adventure with the gang. Keep up the good writing. Can’t wait for #22 and for #2 in the Psychic series.
Life with Maggie Lee is never dull. This time author J.B. Lynn has Mags risking her life and sanity as she did a dangerous job for Delveccio and got her family sorted out on her grandfather's compound. As usual, she should believe the tiles. They spelled "YES YES!" Of course we had multiple adventures to read before she got to the second "YES!" A fantastic, funny, and lively series that keeps on getting better. Every few books I find myself binge reading the whole series...it's THAT much fun! J.B. never disappoints!
Maggie is exhausted. The entire family has moved to grandpa's property and everyone is fighting. Summoned by Delveccio she has a new job spying on Angel. Caught up in trying to keep her sanity, shadow Angel, keep the family together, and being pulled by Whitehat makes for an action packed story. Zeke comes back, Patrick still tugs on her heart strings, and her animal menagerie has her back and do their best to keep her out of trouble with surprising results. Humorous fast paced fun story. Looking forward to the next one
How Maggie handles her jobs, taking care of her family and friends, without losing her mind from being completely overwhelmed is amazing. With the help of her animal friends she manages to do what is needed and is starting to become more comfortable in her roles. It’s another wild ride leaving you ready for the next book!
A lot is going on in this book. The family is out of control and Maggie's competing duties have her running around like a chicken with its head cut off. But in typical Maggie fashion, she manages to work things out. As usual, this is an entertaining read. Read my full review at Girl Who Reads
I think I loved every one of these (21) books except each was to short and most could have flowed together into at least 2 books in 1 and would not leave you hanging. All that said I liked them enough that to hope they keep on coming because they seem to help me relax and boy do I need that! The obsessive compulsive reader (or) OCR for short.
Maggie Lee is back in novel involving Delviccio's nephew Angel. Seems he's keeping some shady company lately, and they want Maggie to keep an eye on him. But has Angel fallen? Can Maggie and her crew of animals save him? Read it, and find out. You'll be glad you did!
This latest “Hitwoman” book is the best one yet. Kept me guessing until the end, and enjoying the crazy antics of the characters. All the animals get into the act, and most of the humans are acting like kids. What a fun read!
Angel is in trouble, her family is driving her nuts, and now she has a job from Ms. Whitehat to do. A lot of wonderful characters make up her stories, including talking animals! Very entertaining !
I love these books! I am left hungry for the next. I wish Maggie got a little romance but maybe it isn't that kind of books. Maybe something can happen with the body guard or angel. There is always the sexy redhead.
Poor Maggie lives the saying "if it was not for bad luck, she wouldn't have any at all." Her family makes even disfunctional families seem totally normal.
