The job was clear: Get in, get what I need, and get out.
It should’ve been easy.
It could’ve been effortless.
I wasn’t supposed to fall in love with the enemy’s daughter.
Long raven hair and dark mischievous eyes drew me in. Her feisty attitude and caring heart kept me there. Her pain called out to mine and out souls entwined. Now I’m in so deep, I don’t know which way is up.
If my father finds out, we’ll be next on his list.
I’ll do anything in my power to protect her, but how can I keep her safe when I’m the one I need to keep her safe from?
Eva doesn’t know it yet, but she’s playing the part of Juliet in this twisted tragedy.
And our final act is inevitable.

trigger warning: rape / unplanned pregnancy from rape. Does not deal with main characters. Just a side character.

What a mess this book was. I read it because it was trending on the authors tik tok page but I knew it wasn't for me when we first opened up a spoiled princess who had everything at her finger tips. Which is fine if there was enough character development and a character arc for our heroine to redeem herself but sadly, it did not happen. The enemies to lovers aspect was short. It was 10% of the book which added some spice but keep in mind that the hero is a PAID bodyguard. The stuff he said to our heroine would literally get him fired in any situation. Next, they fell in love so quickly I had to blink twice. It went from enemies to IN LOVE so quickly. I had whiplash. And of course we gotta talk about the tragic yet underdeveloped backstories of our hero and heroine. Our heroines backstory is a big *shrug* at the end of the day because the author did not properly form a connection to readers so readers simply did not care. The same went for our hero. Our hero's backstory was described in one paragraph. And we just accepted it and went with it. No emotions or attachments. Btw the ending of this book was even more of a double take. I understood what the author was trying to do but it was definitely more telling than showing.

Why you should NEVER read this book or ANY other book from this author.

REASON #1 ---> She miscategorizes her books to GAME AMAZON/KU'S RANKING SYSTEM, thus steals best selling spots from authors who really belong in that category.

I made a whole Instagram post explaining how MIS-Categorization (which is in violation of Amazon's own terms & conditions) is used by shady AF authors like Granata for financial gain and clout, when in actuality, her books perform badly in their appropriate categories. Check it out HERE. but the below are some excerpts regarding how she miscategorized Someone You Love in such a f'd up way, just to give you the gist.

NOW let's take a look at this book in particular shall we??

Granata self-categorized this book as the following on Amazon, and then reaped all the rewards of hitting the #1 and #2 spots in these categories where this book obviously DOES NOT BELONG.

The above is from her own Tik Tok, congratulating every reader who purchased or downloaded her book for helping her lie and steal from other authors. She is so audacious in her grift, publicizing it for us all to see.

Sorry Kristen, but your book does NOT qualify as a PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR MYSTERY and it sure as hell is NOT A CLASSIC ROMANCE FICTION BOOK!!!!!!

CAN YOU JUST IMAGINE SEEING THIS BOOK IN CLASSIC ROMANCE FICTION NEXT TO PRIDE AND PREJUDICE???

As my dear friend Dayane de Oliveira said:

Jane Austen would die...again.

REASON #2 --> she's a PLAGIARIST.

She completely ripped off Kristen Callihan's book Make It Sweet in her poorly written fanfic Someone You Love. Just see for yourself in these Instagram posts I created about the CHARACTERS she copied and here about some of the PLOT LINES she ripped off. Then check out all the reviews on the Someone You Love page.

So to sum up, why da fuq would anyone continue to purchase, read or support a GRIFTER like Granata??? There are so many other amazing authors to lift up who actually deserve to be successful in this business, so please redirect your $$ and allegiance to them, because Granata is wholly undeserving of anyone's $$ or attention.

Oh and also ---> KG, you've blocked me and anyone else who questions you on all social media because you can't take any responsibility for your actions, so I made this just for you! --->

This was so bad I felt compelled to write a review. Rich girl who’s not understood, and is so different from all the other rich people, wow never heard that one before! I’m not even exaggerating she falls in love with him after one week. At that point they’ve had maybe 3 conversations? She was awestruck that he brought her a burrito one time…

God this was so bad. Everything was so spoon fed. I couldn’t even finish this. Honestly I don’t even know how I got so far, lots of skimming hoping it would redeem itself. I knew from page 1 though.

Save yourself! Or waste an hour of your time like me

TW: Suicide, Kidnapping, Manipulation, Depression, Addiction

This was a modern/retelling of Romeo and Juliet. It was a bodyguard romance between Eva and Graham. Graham poses as Eva’s bodyguard because his dad wants to get revenge on Eva’s dad because her dad betrayed him. I enjoyed this book, I liked Eva and Graham as main characters. Eva was a sassy fierce heroine whereas Graham was very charismatic. I liked seeing how both characters were dealing with their own problems. I liked how selfless Graham was, you could really see how much he cared for his sister and niece because he was willing to sacrifice his life for theirs. I like that this story also dealt with important topic such as mental health, suicide, etc.

One of my favourite quotes from the novel was. . .

“We can’t always get closure. There are things in this world that will remain a mystery until Judgement Day.”

I loved how Kistien novels have such beautiful quotes woven into the story. This story reminded me a lot of Kristen's first book Collision because it gave me similar vibes. The relationship was super cute and funny. There were so many funny scenes that made me laugh. I do feel like the story was rushed a bit, I would have liked to get more scenes with the characters getting to know each other. I liked that the characters dealt with their problems in a healthy way. I like that Eva got a therapist to help her deal with her issues. Overall, I would recommend this book to someone who is looking for a quick, funny romance to read.

I loved Eva & Graham and the twists and turns they go through to get their happily ever after. As always, Kristen writes strong characters & develops the story beautifully, leaving the reader on the edge of their seat. The suspense towards the end had me furiously turning the pages to see how it would all pan out.
This one is a great read for those who love a darker, edgier romance with lots of action. Oh... and a kick ass heroine!

This book was very different from anything I’ve ever read before, I’ve never read a modern/retelling of Romeo and Juliet. Eva and Graham are great characters and I loved the emotion Kristen added to this story, to share Eva and Graham’s world. This story was very connecting, I felt invested from the very beginning and I was hooked instantly. The connection between Eva and Graham was also very strong. They both had dealt with so much in their lives, that they were able to help each and understand what it’s like. I loved watching them be there for each other and I loved their chemistry. Eva and Graham were both strong and determined when it comes to a new life they both want and need. I highly recommend any book from Kristen and especially this one! It has emotion, chemistry, passion and realism.

Thank you so much Kristen for this opportunity!

This story was heart breakingingly beautiful. Inevitable is a modern day Romeo and Juliet inspired story between two young people caught in the middle of a fued between two families that run deeper than either of them can imagine. This story had heart, fire, heat, passion, angst, pain, suspense & tackled some heart breaking issues. Unlike Romeo & Juliet this had a much better ending

Graham was such a conflicted yet strong, caring and loyal guy. I loved how selfless he could be and how he would do anything for the people he cares about even if it means sacrificing what he wants in the process.

Eva was sassy, funny, compassionate, confident and a total badass who was also vaulnerble, misunderstood and was left feeling confused and lost while trying to understand the loss of her brother and the sudden breakdown of her family

Graham and Eva both have a strong instant attraction towards each other but for different reasons they try not to act upon it. Their chemistry and fire grows more and more each page and together they were fire. Both of these beautiful souls were perfect for each other and I loved how much they encouraged each other and how much they cared. I loved watching them open up to each about everything they were going through and breakdown some of those walls they had in place.

This was my first read from Kristen and I really enjoyed it and can't wait to read more

TW mentions of depression and suicide

Y’ALL! HOLY SHIT, WHAT DID I JUST READ!? Inevitable was everything I could have hoped for and more. I’m going to be real, I’ve been sleeping on Kristen Granata a bit, I totally have a lady crush on her. She’s killing it, writing, teaching, momming, still producing hilarious content and encouraging others. #Goals, for real though. Her books have been on my TBR for a bit and I keep meaning to get to them but then you know how ARCs and new releases go. I fucked up, I have to read the rest like right now. I am going to devour her entire backlist, I cannot wait but first let’s talk Inevitable.
-
Eva is a queen, daughter of a wealthy man finds herself in a scary situation and ends up with a body guard. Eva is strong and fierce, her personality is gold. For someone so young, she has a level of maturity that is unrivaled. The love that she has for her brother is so endearing, her pain is still so raw so protecting herself is her number one goal. Eva grows in this story and I loved watching her find peace and happiness.
-
Graham, holy freaking hotness. I am a bit in love with him, all the swoon and total book boyfriend material. Graham is struggling, he is trying to do right by his sister and by Eva, but his dad is a threat to both of those things. Even though his relationship with Eva starts off based on a lie, he is so pure and genuine when it comes to her. All the Romeo and Juliet vibes, but Graham is way hunkier than puny ol’ Romeo.
-
These two’s chemistry is off the charts, they both have a certain pull over one another and everyone around them can see it. I love how they both care so deeply for one another and both have protective instincts for the other. Truly, I devoured their story and I could read so much more of them. The ending of this book was PERFECTION, seriously I was squealing in bed at like 2 am over it. I probably woke my husband up but sorry babe, HEA are my kryptonite.

I’m not only a new reader for Kristen Granata, but I’m also super grateful to have received my first ARC from her as well.

Once I read the blurb, knowing it was a modern day twist on Romeo and Juliet, I was excited to see how she would structure these characters. I was pleasantly surprised that Eva was a straight up badass. Not a princess in distress, but a woman who could handle her own. I swear Eva is my alter ego, everything I aspire to be.

Graham is a perfect mixture of masculine and sensitive. An alpha male with a big heart. He was so selfless, willing to do whatever he needed to to take care of the people in his life. Watching the relationship between him and Eva was magic.
There were very sensitive themes such as mentions of suicide. I was happy to see another author not be afraid to shine a light on real issues.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Loved this book and this author. Looking forward to reading all her previous books and her future ones.

This should be a 4 stars read if not only for the heroine being childish af🙄 Sometimes I just don't really get it, if the hero isn't being honest to the heroine, the h really gets mad that of course can create a conflict within the story, however if the H is being honorable and honest, still the heroine gets mad. And that's precisely the case of this book *sighs*. Don't get me wrong this book is a good bodyguard storyline and I like both main characters until the certain decision is made. To be honest I will just be happy and contented if the hero moves on and just forget the heroine.

As usual, Kristen writes from the heart. Each story (I’ve read) either left me in hysteric’s, or has had me holding my breath after emotional roller coaster I’d been on. This book oozed charm, charisma from the premise to the characters. Love Kristen’s storytelling abilities. Love her telling of Graham and Mia’s story. Love the modern spin on Romeo and Juliet with a twist. All-in-all thought it was a fantastic read that I would read again or buy for a friend.

Inevitable was my first book by Kristen Granata and I really enjoyed it. A modern day take on Romeo and Juliet, a couple who are meant to be, but their families lies, and deception mean they are bound for failure before they can even begin.

Graham is a private investigator who is stuck working for his cruel and dark father, whose main aim is to get revenge on his old best friend, Anthony, who betrayed him years ago. Graham must help his father with his plan as he has to support his younger sister and niece financially so he poses as the bodyguard of Anthony’s daughter Eva, gaining his and her trust, whilst at the same time investigating if there are any secrets his father can use for revenge.

Eva is angry at first, adamant she doesn’t need protection, and constantly tries to escape from Graham’s sight starting a game of cat and mouse between them. But, the longer Eva and Graham spend together, they see that they are similar in so many ways and understand each other better than anyone ever could. They begin to fall for one another, but when secrets from Eva’s family’s past are revealed, will Eva ever be able to forgive Graham for his deception? Will they ever be able to make it as a couple once they’ve both healed from the trauma?

Graham was such a sweet gentle hero. He was so strong and caring, he was caught in an awful position but ultimately put Eva ahead of his own feelings. He was selfless and loyal, easily putting the ones he loves most first at every moment he could. Eva was brilliant, so independent and sassy, she held her own and fought back whenever she could. She had a vulnerability though which she hid behind a façade and it broke my heart. She was lost after her brother’s sudden death and all she ever wanted was the truth and I am so happy she could get the closure she needed.

One of the things I loved most about their relationship was how the was a strong initial attraction, but what actually made them fall for one another was their mutual understanding. They were both living lives they didn’t want to and stuck in limbo trying to find answers and comply with other people’s demands. Graham listened to Eva and was there for her when she needed him, they built a solid friendship and trust and that all happened before they became intimate. That’s not to say they weren’t hot when the did get together, and wow were they burning up my kindle, but they fell because they understood each other’s pain and that meant so much more.

The twists were brilliantly written, drawing out the secrets and truths perfectly. When everything was revealed, I am so glad Eva took the time to grieve and heal without leaning on Graham, it ultimately made them stronger as a couple. They both found their own purpose before re-finding one another.
Inevitable was a heartbreakingly beautiful romance, full of unexpected drama and suspense, passionate moments and finding closure after a traumatic event. Unlike Romeo and Juliet, Inevitable did have a happy ending, although it took a while for Graham and Eva to find it.
There are mentions of suicide and mental health, and both are well written about in a positive way with no stigma attached.

We’re written in the stars.

This gorgeous story is a Romeo and Juliet(ish) tale with it’s own modern day spin. Two households, the fathers hate each other, the mothers don’t exist (really) and the boy and girl fall in love at first sight. It’s one of my favorite stories. I’m a huge instalove person. I think it’s so romantic. So anyway our leading man, Graham, goes under cover and pretends to be Eva’s body guard after his father has her kidnapped. Graham and Eva instantly connect and pretty soon they can’t keep their hands off of each other.

Well, eventually it all comes to an end, as good things always do, and Graham has to reveal himself to Eva. She of course loses all trust in him, but also finds out some very interesting facts about her family. She is heartbroken, but then…she starts to heal. Slowly but surely. She figures out what she wants to do with her life and she starts over. Watching her overcome her previous fears and learn how to navigate life on her own is something truly special. She also reconnects with her mother and that’s also sweet to watch.

This is a thoughtful, beautiful story on the impacts of suicide and mental illness in our society today. Eva’s brother committed suicide a year before our story begins and she struggles with the loss of him every single day. It tore her family a part and it left her a shell of a person. Eva is able to start living again when she meets Graham. He helps her dive down deep and discover what it is that she really wants out of life. His is a very special love, not easily found. Their bond is unbreakable, throughout time and space. It’s apparent when they first meet that it’s all or nothing with these two lovebirds. I’m so glad they decided to give it their all. This story was fun and full of life and love. It was though-provoking and charming. To me, it’s really important to keep opening up about topics like suicide, because these aren’t issues we should sweep under the rug, these are real people who struggle every single day. I always appreciate when an author is brave enough to jump in head first with those kinds of topics, it shows great strength and true talent, when done well. Our author, Kristen Granata, wooed me with the beginning of this novel, hooked me in the middle, and stole my heart at the end. I’m a true fan now, and I’m so thankful she asked me to be a part of her ARC team. I can’t believe what I would have been missing out on, had I said no! This story deserves to be heard. 5 stars!

Inevitable
is a new Romeo and Juliet inspired romance by Kristen Granata.

Graham has been trying to get out under his father's evil thumb and after this one last job he should be good to walk away and still support his sister and niece. His job is to find out dirt to bring down his father's enemy while posing as his daughter Eva's bodyguard. He immediately discovers that she is so much more than meets the eye and the there's no dirt to find. In the end when the truth come to light can Eva look past all the lies and deceit in order to forgive Graham.

"I'm feeling something I've never felt for anyone before. Wanting things I never thought I could have, When I'm with her, she makes me believe that anything is possible."

I'm a sucker for a tough guy on the outside who has a sensitive center so Graham is quality book boyfriend in my opinion. He was stuck in a crappy situation and trying to make the best of it. The intensity of his emotions when it comes to his sister and quickly Eva are beautiful. He sacrifices his chance to have her in order to do what's best for her. I had trouble connecting with Eva but her backstory with her brother hurt my heart. Together though they were really great at getting each other to let down their walls, and making each other smile. I loved that he held off being intimate with her because he knew he was being dishonest. They were sweet, angsty, and passionate when they finally came together. In the end I really appreciated that Eva took the time to focus on herself and didn't immediately forgive Graham for everything that happened.

"I want Graham to give me everything he has, because I'm pretty sure I'd give him every last piece of me if he asked me to."

Overall, Inevitable was a great romance with a little of everything. Enemies to lovers, steam, passion and the right amount of drama.

"You've got fire in your veins and passion in your heart. Those vapid, trust-fund kids will never be able to hold a candle to you. You're different."

I received an ARC of Inevitable from the author for my honest review. Inevitable releases every where on April 6th.

Inevitable gave me major Collision vibes, but it also had a dash of humor in it like Hating the Boss and Back To You. <-- If you haven't read those books by Kristen Granata then what are you waiting for? Kristen is amazing. I have yet to read something from her that I didn't like. Not only is she a fantastic author, she's also a beautiful human being. I follow her on Instagram, and that's how I found her.

Eva was such a fantastic character. She had so much sass, and she was definitely no damsel in distress. She fought for her independence, and even though she had been through some things that were traumatic, she came out on the other side stronger than ever. I liked how even after everything with Graham was out in the open she didn't forgive and forget. She stood her ground, and took care of herself above anything else. She was passionate about things, and I loved that about her.

Graham was a strong and silent type. He wanted to be out from under his father's thumb, but he cared so much about his sister and her daughter that was willing to sacrifice his own life to make sure they were taken care of. When he realized he was falling for Eva, he was loyal to her just like he was his sister and niece. This was a man that was literally willing to do anything and everything to protect the people he loved. You can't get more swoon worthy than that.

How can someone love me so much, yet hurt me so badly?

I LOVED that this book was so much more than a romance. You had your swoon worthy moments, you had your steamy scenes, but you also had a mystery unfolding, and it was also packed full of action. There is nothing I love more than a book that can make you laugh, make you feel like you have hearts in your eyes, and also keep you on the edge of your seat.

Overall, this is a no brainier, Inevitable is getting 5 STARS from me. Kristen has proved that she can pretty much write anything and it will capture me from the beginning and keep me intrigued. Honestly, this one had a little bit of everything, and you can't really get much better than that.

Inevitable

4 stars

There’s something about Kristen’s books that always leave me with a sense of utter love and hope. Maybe it’s the amazing story being told? The beautiful writing? The phenomenal individual character development? Or maybe the moral themes always present in her books? The numerous quotes I always have highlighted by the end of every book? All of the above?

Who doesn’t love a modern twist on Romeo and Juliet? ‘Inevitable’ was that and yet so much more beautiful. Both Eva and Graham are characters I personally have an attachment to, mainly because they’re strong, well developed characters that individually go through heartbreaking hardships many can relate to. And yet somehow are able to come out all the better for them. Their story inspires me and teaches me to move forward no matter the struggle. And for that I will always love their book.

There was a lot of amazing chemistry, some tension, definitely some angsty feels and Kristen does it so well. I also really loved the snarkiness and sassiness in Eva, a strong fierce female lead always makes me fall in love even more. And Graham, you gotta love a guy who struggles to be a good person while also taking care of the people he loves. It’s always intriguing to see a character develop morally and see their thoughts and even relate to them the way that I related to Graham.

Just overall, there’s so much development mentally and emotionally in the characters that really made the story hit deep for me. It was executed beautifully and honestly I’m still in my feels.

Inevitable by @kristen_granata
4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Another gem written by Kristen. This book is a modern take on Romeo and Juliet (minus the dying part)
Graham works for his father and this is his last job before he part ways with the “family business”. It should be easy, post as a princess girl bodyguard, discover dirt on her father so his father can have his revenge. I should be uncomplicated, instead it is not!!!
Eva doesn’t need a bodyguard, she is independent and self sufficient to take care of herself, so why is she so attracted to her bodyguard??
This book is romantic, slow burn, intimate. I love the main characters chemistry and love story. One more time we get glimpses of Kristen’s humor and personality. One more time her book. I can tel you that she loves (not) pickles 😆. On a more serious note I love the way Kristen always brings awareness to mental health issues, thank you Kristen!!!

Graham's dad was clear when he assigned the job to him: get in, find dirt on his enemy, get out. It should have been easy but he wasn't suppose to fall for his father's enemy's daughter. Eva doesn't know it yet but she's playing the part of Juliet in this story.
🐝
I did not see any of it coming. Even with the quick pace of the story it didn't feel rushed. The author left the characters breathe and process their feelings. Even after the big boom, the heroine doesn't run back to the hero, because one act of bravery does not solve their issues. I absolutely loved the ending of this book. It was sweet and it felt so right. I loved that they gave each other time to grow before coming back to each other. Most of the book happens while their pretty young, and I loved how the author didn't make them act more adult than they should, even if life hardened them prematurely. Kristen Granata's writing is so beautiful and I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

DNF @17%. The theme: REDUNDANCY. MCs thoughts carried the plot. Then the author would regurgitate the same thing in her own words, clearly to reach her desired word count.

Cliche: lots of “omg he’s just SO different dad, you couldn’t understand if you tried.” “O.M.G!!! We share trauma 🤪. Let’s get drunk and become closer bc you we lost our ability to filter out intentions.”

ALSO A LEAST HAVE THE DECENCY TO MAKE THE COVER GIRL LOOK BADASS INSTEAD OF A KNOCKOFF SELENA GOMEZ

I loved Eva and Graham's story, so much. Eva was easy to like and Graham of course was the kind of male I have come to expect from Kristen Granata, strong yet soft. I loved him. I loved that he was trying to be better than his father had raised him to be. I wasn't expecting to get overly emotional with this book, but I should have known better. Eva's brother's story nearly ripped my heart out. But I have loved every book I have read by Kristen Granata so far and I don't expect that to change anytime soon.

Happened upon this book on TikTok! And I’m beyond glad I did because it’s being added to my “favorites” shelf!

This is my first book by Kristen Granata. It was an enjoyable read with nice pacing and likeable characters that were easy to root for. There was an angst factor which I'm always down for, but it wasn't too much. I will definitely check out some of her other releases.

Cute fluff romance. The timeline was a little rushed, but the epilogue was a year later and that was very realistic so

3.5⭐️

I was generously given an arc in exchange for an honest review!

h: Evangeline
H: Graham

This story starts out as Graham’s father wanting revenge on an old friend who stole from him. Graham is supposed to pose as the daughter’s body guard. Graham’s father has two of his thugs scare Evangeline and rough her up a little bit in order for her father to feel the need to hire a body guard. Graham follows Evangeline around and slowly starts to see that she’s not a prissy fancy pants like he thought she was going to be. As Evangeline and Graham open up to each other about their dark pasts, Graham finds it hard to resist giving into Evangeline.

Overall, this was a good read. This book gives you some feels when it comes to both Graham’s and Evangeline’s tragic pasts and how they seem to connect through sharing the pain. I found this book to be a bit juvenile for me. It didn’t tickle my fancy. I wasn’t a huge fan of the ending. I thought it was an interesting route the author took, after a near death incident, Evangeline doesn’t automatically forgive Graham for his wrongs so they can get a HEA. Props to the author for going a less traveled route- Evangeline waits for Graham to wake up, tells him how she feels and walks out moments later. The couple stays apart for over a year, which I had some questions about 🤔 but they do end up getting their HEA. I really enjoyed the way these two ended up finding their way back to each other as neighbors!

Favorite quotes:
”My father.” She laughs. “Let a strange man into your home while your daughter is naked in her bed. Father of the fucking Year.”
I cock an eyebrow. “You sleep naked?”
Redness tinges her cheeks. “Get. Out!”

Montalbano steps into the room, his eyes jumping from broken thing to broken thing, not yet realizing that his daughter is the most broken thing of all. -Graham

That’s the hardest part about being hurt by the one you love. The feelings you once had don’t just dissipate. They mix with new feelings of anger, hurt, and resentment, creating one fucked-up concoction inside your mind. -Evangeline
