Del has always had a nose for a beautiful scent. She and her twin sister decided they wanted to open a perfumery in New York together. The shop had been chosen, and everything was running smoothly, until at last-minute her sister fell in love and ditched the idea, leaving Del unable to afford the shop on her own.
Del then finds out about a perfume competition that would give her enough funds to open her own shop, running in Paris, she applies and is lucky enough to be one of the finalist. It takes some courage to go as she normally has her sister at her side for everything, but she heads over from America to France to try an win. However, there are some seriously tough competitors, and a few who don’t want to play by the rules. Will Del come away from Paris smelling of roses?
I love Rebecca Raisin’s books, yet this is the first in ‘The Little Paris Collection’ that I have read. I can confirm it can most certainly be read as a stand-alone, and that now I’m going to have to read the other two, as this book was so good.
What I love about Ms. Raisin’s books is how much of her heart and soul she puts into them. You can tell by how easy the words pour off the pages, and how effortless they feel to read, just how passionate she is about her work, and in this instance, how knowledgeable she is about perfume too.
The characters are well-developed, and Del was such a lovely character to get to know. She knew what she wanted in life and how to go about getting it, yet she wasn’t prepared to stoop to some of the other competitors levels to win the competition. If she was going to win it was on her own merits and know how.
This is a book that will have you imagining all the glorious scents that are made. It was an absolute joy to read and I devoured it in one sitting.

The story is about two people finding their way back to magic, the magic of perfume making, their love for the ingredients and their confidence. Believe in yourself and love what you do is the theme which underruns this story.
Del enters a perfume making contest held by the Leclere Parfumerie and if she wins, it would open the skies for her and her dreams of having her own brand in New York. Sebastian the owner of Leclere Parfumerie is going through his own stresses of managing such a huge empire.
Both the main characters are dealing with personal loss in their lives, Del, her nan and Sebastian, his dad Vincent the original perfume maker. Both have lost their mojo for creating perfumes. The entire story revolves around how they make their passions come alive, discover themselves, and find the song of their heart.
My first book by Rebecca Raisin, and it is a happy feel-good tale with lots of information about perfume making, in some places, it overwhelms the story. Sebastian and Del make a cute couple, their romance is woven along with the different contests. The other characters make the contests extremely competitive and fast-paced.
Paris is described beautifully; I could feel as if I was literally in Paris. The author Rebecca Raisin has this exceptional talent to make the descriptions of her prose come alive, both of Paris and the process of perfume making.

I feel like I have been waiting for this book to be released forever. Thankfully within minutes of delving into it, I can safely say it was worth the wait. I absolutely loved everything to do with this book and it is clear the author must love perfume, with the way it was described , the scents, and what sensations they can evoke in a person.
It is also the story of how you need to be brave to follow your dreams even if it means spending time apart from your twin sister. It is a story of regaining your confidence, of not stooping to your competitors levels of sabotage and instead being a decent human being, and it is a story of trusting your heart and instincts.
Oh and its set in Paris, and features a perfume competition of which Del is just one of the competitor. Del is instantly likeable, seems to have lost some confidence in her perfume making abilities, since her gran died a few years back, but has entered this competition as it brings with it fantastic career opportunities.
So long as she can make it past the earlier rounds and not be driven round the bend with here fellow competitors antics. Del is also just slightly clumsy, after all how else can you explain 3 accidents occurring throughout her first day in Paris that all just happen to have one other factor in common.
I loved not only the descriptions of the perfumes and the scents, which I wished I had a defined enough sense of smell to be able to full appreciate, but the descriptions of Paris. Both characters and locations from the other books in Rebecca Raisin's Little Paris Collection have a brief moment in the spotlight, although if you haven't read the other books it won't matter as this is a complete standalone, but with extra goodies for regular readers of the author.
There is also an excursion so Provence, to the home of Lavender and I could see it all so clearly, I thoroughly enjoyed this section of the book too with all of its descriptions, and the accompanying story with it too.
Humour, romance, Paris, french food (well some), a bouquet of scents to tickle your senses, rivalries and a lot of perfume, all combine to bring you one fabulous book. I just hope we don't have to wait as long for the next Rebecca Raisin book.

A delightfully romantic tale. I loved how the author described Paris. It was a magical trip delighting senses in every sense of the word. Del and her twin sister have a dream to open their own perfume shop in New York. For the love of a man her sister leaves her dream behind leaving Del holding the bag when she doesn't have the financial backing to open the shop on her own. Armed with her grandmother's notebook of scent formulas and notes she goes off to the city of love, Paris to compete in a perfume competition that if she wins will fund her dreams. This was a fun chicklit romance that is the perfect summer holiday read.

Combine Paris, Romance and Perfume along with a competition and you have a n utterly charming read. I fell in love with this story when Del landed in Paris, literally bumped into a handsome stranger and from there the adventure began. I especially loved Sebastien with his good looks and charm he is a perfect male specimen. Del is on a mission to break away from her small town and be independent form her twin sister Jen. The perfume contest with Paris as a backdrop should be the perfect opportunity but with all of the antics of the other contestants and the complex art of perfume making may just be a bit too much. The sights, the drama of the contest and the budding romance between Del and Sebastien had me hooked and I devoured, practically inhaled this in one sitting. I loved the contest aspect of the book and all of the complexity involved in making perfume had me amazed at how much actually goes into creating a fragrance. Del is an honest, lovable, smart as a whip and sometimes clumsy lead character. The tension between Del and Sebastien had me wanting to just get them together already!

I picked this book up because of the perfume in the title and the idea of perfume competition, and I expected a lot because of that. Perfumes are subjective and the perfumes described in the book are a little too bland for me. The scents are all squeaky clean and almost sterile. How can a perfume that evokes love be without passion? Also since the book is set in France, I thought I would get a whiff of classic French perfumery. The h of the book described her all consuming passion for fragrance but apart from that she never shows that passion in her daily action, sure she would talk about perfume a lot, but she didn’t even visit the perfume shops in Paris but she have time to hangout in cafés. As for the romance, I find it sweet but also bland.

I enjoyed this book and read it one day. But it could have had a better editor. Missing words in sentences, words transposed, etc. that I found distracting. And an American would never use the word homely to describe a room in France. It is strictly a British term as homely means something entirely different in the US. If your main character is an American, you should research us and what words we use.

The setting is stunning as always but the added element of perfume and all of the intricacies that it entails really brings the beauty of Paris to a whole new level. I devoured this book in a few hours and as I came to the end I really didn't want it to finish and that is the magical element of Rebecca Raisin's books - they make you never want to leave!

I am loving The little Paris collection. This is book three of the collection and it is a wonderful addition to this series of books. If you haven’t read books 1 and 2 don’t worry, because each of these books can be read as a stand alone. As they feature different characters. But the thing connect them all is Paris.
In this book we meet Del. Who thought that she had her whole life planned out. Del and her sister were going to open their own Perfume shop in New York. That was until her sister pulls out at the last minute. Leaving everything for the love of a man. Without her sisters help Del can no longer afford to peruse her dreams.
This finds Del in a predicament. Still desperately wanting to open her own perfumery. Del moves to Paris and enters herself into a perfume competition. But if she wins the money could be used to peruse her dreams.
With her nans trusted recipes, her wonder inherited sense of smell and sheer determination. Del is set on winning the competition. But has Del bitten off more than she can chew?
This is the perfect blend of funny, romantic, sad and happy. It is a really lovely story that will make chicklit and romance fans extremely happy.

Del kommt für diesen Wettbewerb eigens aus Amerika, nachdem der Plan einer gemeinsamen Zukunft mit ihrer Schwester geplatzt ist. Ihr Ideenreichtum und ihre Kreativität haben ihr einen Platz gesichert, doch leider ist sie zu Anfang wegen des misslungenen Plans völlig neben der Spur und kann sich nicht auf den Wettbewerb einlassen.
Zudem trifft sie einen gutaussehenden Mann, der sie noch zusätzlich von ihrer Aufgabe ablenkt.

January 15, 2018This is another deep loving novel wrote by Rebecca Raisin, she fully immerses you in each story and this is no exception. You understand the basis of her skills by making perfume and so if you are into this kind of thing, it will get you wanting to start such a hobby.
I could have read more of this, i would have liked to see more characters with a storyline but maybe thats an option for her next sequel... maybe????
Its an American small town girl going to live her dream, but its so much more than that so much more love and depth... she has a twin who stayed home whilst Del went off to Paris for the perfume competition, Many of the other competitors do dirty tricks to try and win but Del doesn't sink this low and enters the competion 100% in truthful manners. She is a very quiet girl but you warm to her instantly,

Wow what a truly delightful read, a real gem of a story, filled with romance, friendship, loss, new beginnings, hope, challenges, not to mention the enticing fragrances/perfumes that are mentioned throughout, all told in such a wonderful and heartfelt well.
The author Rebecca really does know how to tell a story and for it to come alive, right out of the pages. I loved every bit of it from beginning to end.
I've not been lucky enough to have had the chance to visit Paris yet, but having read this book, I now feel that I have been. The way in which the author Rebecca set the scenes and described all the different places within Paris, is just felt so real and bought it all to life.
I loved the quote that was used within the story "Compose the perfect perfume and it will live on like a song, forever" . Such beautiful words, just perfect and very much like this book.
The author Rebecca really does know how to tell a story and for it to come alive, right out of the pages. I loved every bit of it from beginning to end.
I've not been lucky enough to have had the chance to visit Paris yet, but having read this book, I now feel that I have been. The way in which the author Rebecca set the scenes and described all the different places within Paris, is just felt so real and bought it all to life.

What a lovely light and uplifting book. I loved the characters, I loved how Del could only be herself and how she grew over the challenge, how she didn't play games to try to win and how she pushed herself to live outside of her comfort zone. I loved Lex And Lila both down to earth real people following their hopes and dreams as Del was doing. I even liked the less likeable characters, they all played their part in shaping the story. I am not a perfume wearer at all, and I've never really given much thought to what goes into making that perfect perfume, I loved the descriptions that Rebecca used to describe the emotions and feelings of the scents, I could almost imagine I was there smelling them myself. I will definitely be looking at reading some more of Rebecca Raisin's books.

Das Buch habe ich mit allen Sinnen inhaliert, sogar die Düfte dachte man zu riechen!Es war einfach traumhaft und wunderschön. Einfach zum Träumen!
Del liebt Düfte und ist auf dem Wettbewerb echt fabelhaft,trotz Steine die ihr in dem Weg gelegt werden, sie ist ein Mensch den man einfach mag, sie zielstrebig, tollpatschig, nett und so ist es kein Wunder das ich sie gleich ins Herz geschlossen habe.
Sebastian kann man am Anfang nicht so einschätzen er ist sehr attraktiv aber auch wirkt unnahbar.
Dir Geschichte ist besonders, sie ist lebendig, wirkt real und ist zum Träumen geeignet. Aber auch die Liebe in Paris kommt nich zu kurz. Es ist ein Buch fürs Herz.

Das Thema des Buches - die Herstellung von Parfüm - ist ungewöhnlich und interessant. Gute Voraussetzungen also für ein schönes Frauenbuch. Leider konnte es mich dennoch nicht ganz überzeugen. Die Geschichte fand ich viel zu langweilig, die Charaktere distanziert. Und das, obwohl wir von der Ich-Erzählerin Del eine Menge erfahren, und sie die ganze Zeit über fühlen, riechen, lieben, denken, glauben, träumen... redet. Immer und immer wieder. Was zu unnötigen Wiederholungen führt und zu einem wie Kaugummi langgezogenem Wust an Sätzen, die in Summe nichtssagend sind. Überall eingestreute altbekannte Floskeln bestätigten meinen Eindruck, dass es der Autorin - genau wie der Protagonistin - ab und zu an Kreativität fehlte.
Der Wettbewerb, an dem Del in Paris teilnimmt, wirkte stark konstruiert. So eine Art von 'Casting' würde ich heutzutage durchaus in einer TV Show erwarten, aber eigentlich nicht von einem renommierten Unternehmen. Auch die Liebesgeschichte verläuft leider nach absolut vorhersehbarem Muster mit einem kitschigen Ende.
Schade, ich habe zuvor schon ein Buch der Autorin gelesen, über Rosie und ihren Tee-Truck, und das hat mir deutlich besser gefallen!

Oh my goodness what a brilliant book, it is not just a story about two people who fall in love, but goes much deeper. For me, it is about having the confidence to follow your dreams. And to be expressive in what you do. It is also about the relationship between families, the grieving process and also how making good friends helps you on your way through life. I really recommend this book and feel that it would be a brilliant book to discuss at Book Club meetings.

This was a quick and easy to read book. Ideal for holidays, especially to Paris.

The twin who stayed home, rather than take a chance at success in Paris, was a much more interesting character than the twin who did go. Very weak main characters.

Rebecca brings Paris to life. A beautiful easy read, loved the descriptions of places and fragrances. The characters were all so different and I felt like I was in Paris with them.

I found the story enjoyable and romantic. I read it in less than a day, not only because it’s not too long (a little more than 200 pages), but because I was engrossed in the plot. What I liked most about this novel is the character of Del. The author presents her through many fronts. She is devoted to her family, she is still grieving over her grandmother’s death and she constantly misses her twin sister Jen, her other half, especially since she is now busy with her boyfriend. She is competitive and determined to win her place in the competition but she is also a loyal and true friend and she helps the other competitors even if it means she could lose. She is also funny and gets herself in ridiculous and embarrassing situations that made me laugh out loud. And she’s never been in love, at least not until she arrives to Paris.

The fact that the novel is set in the most romantic city in the world helped to create the romantic and atmospheric setting for Del and Seb’s love story.
The setting of Paris is another thing that I enjoyed in this novel. I loved to explore Paris along with Del as she visits the city with its iconic landmarks – from the Moulin Rouge to Notre Dame and more – and its beautiful shops and cafés.
THE LITTLE PERFUME SHOP OFF THE CHAMPS-ELYSEES is an highly enjoyable and charming novel.

What an uplifting book. A lovely feel-good story.
I absolutely adored this book. It’s made me want to change my job and move to Paris. I would love to be a perfumer, I could almost smell all those ingredients! My first by this author, but definitely not the last.
Del arrives in Paris in clumsy accident-prone style. She keeps bumping, literally, into the same handsome guy. The chemistry between them is very sweet. Is a love affair just about to begin?
When the perfume competition contestants are assembled at the Leclére apartment Del realises that the man she keeps bumping into is none other than the elusive Sébastien Leclére himself. She is mortified!
We get to know the other contestants. Clementine is her roommate, and is very over-the-top in both personality and how she looks. Lex was lovely.
The story weaves beautifully around the characters taking in the sights and smells of Paris. The city was so well described I felt I was there too. I fell in love with the colourful cafes and cute shops.
The characters were really likeable, even Clementine, and had good depth. There were some touching and emotional scenes when Sébastien told stories of his father, and when he realised his childhood memories gave a different picture than he had always thought.
When the competition is over what will Del do? What she doesn’t count on is meeting and falling for the gorgeous perfumer.
Well written, I would recommend this 100%.
