You heard that right. I can fly, shoot energy from my fingertips, punch right through a building if I wanted to. I can jump through time and space, I’m immortal … but as great as it is, I still can’t forget this isn’t my life, not really. My life was stolen, along with my entire world and everyone in it, by conqueror from another dimension.
We kicked his ass back to his universe, and afterwards I found this timeline. It’s the same as the one I remember in every way, except one: here I was never born. I know how it sounds. Sometimes I don’t believe it myself, but if it was a nightmare I would've woken up by now.
It isn’t the home I knew, but it’s all I have, and now all I can do is try to scrape the shattered pieces of my life back up and fit them together again, except I don't think the universe is done with me yet. I just can't help myself. If I see a problem, I need to fix it.
The thing is, powerful as I am, some problems can't be punched away, and if I'm gonna be saving the world on the regular, I'll have to learn to use more than my fists.
Damien grew up on Terminator and Raymond Chandler and Green Lantern. On Deus Ex and PWEI. Blade Runner is his chicken soup when he's sick. He rereads Neuromancer every few years, and still loves the image of payphones ringing one by one as Case walks by, anachronistic or not.
He's a UX designer by day, a dad and husband by night, and a writer in the moments in between.
I am so glad I read this book. It had a lot of things missing from the first. All of the main characters were fully developed, except the doppelganger, which did not feel forced this time around, and I have a feeling her time will come in the third book. Again, I'm big fan of the hero, Jasmin, who is a strong woman who never sits around wondering what boy she likes more. Another big plus is we are introduced to a whole new world (literally), and I really enjoyed exploring it. This book also seemed to steer clear of time travel (mostly), which was a bit of a let down, but it also avoids all the confusing rules that seemed to be applied only when convenient to the story. All in all, a very enjoyable read, and I'm looking forward to the third book.

The story continues. You'd think life would be fantastic now for immortal superhero Jasmin but such is not the case. Booting her enemy into another universe didn't solve everything, even for her. It doesn't give her her life back. She's now in a time-line in which she was never born! And that is just the start of a whole new set of problems. There are more adventures, trials and tribulations and drama than one person (even if they're an imortal superhero) needs. I really love this series and can't wait to read the next in the series. I received an ARC of this book from Booksprout.
Powerless by Damien Boyes is an awesome story that I have read. This is book number two in this awesome series that I have loved reading and can not wait to read book number three in this awesome series. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about Sci-Fi fantasy.
