She can handle anything in her job.
Even a week on a boat
with a handsome but annoying sailor.

Josh tells himself he’s the luckiest guy in the world. Living on his sailboat and taking tourists on occasional chartered trips, he’s not tied down to routines and responsibilities. He even named his sailboat Solitude, because that’s what he enjoys much of the time.

Danae works at a boat company, and she just got promoted—sort of. To keep her dream job, she must get her opinionated coworkers to all agree on a marketing plan. Her boss directs her to set up a week-long sailing tour with them as a work trip and a bonding experience.

At first, Danae isn’t completely on board with Josh’s laid-back approach to the excursion. But during visits to quaint New England towns and seafaring adventures, she and Josh start to see one another’s true colors…and Josh begins to question his solitary life.

This feel-good romance includes a free Hallmark original recipe for Crunchy Salmon Cakes.

Sweet comfy romance with the magic of the sea to help. This is the perfect summer beach read. A work team bonding trip has a two opposites working in tight spaces, tingles happen, denial steps up, an undeniable attraction, and yet they fight it. She is super organized, a bit of a control nut, focused with her life plan set. He’s a recovered executive who’s determined to live free from schedules, complications and demands. They each cringe at the other’s way and yet…fun time watching the relationship stumble and grow. The is a HEA, the way to it is filled with fun and romance.

I loved this feel-good romance from Cindi Madsen! I've been a fan of her writing from the time that I read Cinderella Screwed Me Over!

In Sailing at Sunset we've got an amazing opposites-attract setup, with a boat as the backdrop! And as Danae and Josh embark on the sailing tour we get to see them slowly fall for each other!

Danae has just got the promotion that she's been aiming for, but to cement her position she and her co-workers need to come up with a marketing plan that they all agree on! And her boss suggests a sailing tour for a work+bonding experience!

Danae loves being organised and in control! But when she meets the captain Josh, sparks fly(literally)!

Josh has left behind the corporate world and the planned out life, for the chance to be independent and live life freely! It doesn't take long for them to start butting heads, but when they both start to see each other beyond their first impressions they discover that it's good to have your world shaken up once in a while!

I loved these two and the slow development of their relationship! The chemistry between them was amazing and with the scenic New England towns as a backdrop this was the perfect book to relax with and read during the weekend! If you're looking for a cute summer read to relax with, I'd definitely suggest giving this one a try! Cindi Madsen's writing is amazing!

I am such a Hallmark junkie LOL so hmm I loved it. So this book tells the story of Danae a super-duper organized somewhat uptight recently promoted Marketing boss babe who is sort of forced into going on a team cruise to promote teamwork and all with the heartbroken but quite a swoon-worthy Josh as captain *sigh* who is done with love *smile.I already miss summer but you can tot do it all over again with this book

Let your dreams set sail...

Life is better on a boat. This is Josh's theory and mantra. He loves his "alone" time and it has served him well. He is content and at peace with the wind in his hair, and the sun on his face. He has carved out his future. Solitude is what he craves, so much so he named his boat Solitude. He is content in chartering his sailboat to tourists who want to experience new adventures. He felt he had his life all mapped out until Danae stepped into it. Then everything capsized for him.

Danae recently got the job of her dreams and was assigned by her boss to go on a boat excursion taking along her co-workers so they could team build. That was a nightmare in the making. Her workmates were civil at best and were cantankerous to boot. They all had their own opinions on everything and were not afraid to voice them. When Josh and Danae meet they clash immediately. He is a free spirit and spur of the moment kind of man and Danae is all schedules and planning. It was a delight to watch this couple butt heads but also to see them fall for each other.

This couple were on the same boat rowing in different directions. I was eagerly crossing my fingers and rooting for these two. Another wonderful sweet romance by Cindi Madsen.

Danae Danvers has been working very hard for Barton Boats, so she is thrilled when she is promoted to Chief Marketing Officer. She finds out via her boss that the position is interim. First she must prove herself by taking her team on a seven day sailing cruise to promote team building and see if she can get them to work together smoothly. Danae is concerned because her ex-boyfriend is part of the team along with two women who seem to bicker with each other all the time.

Danae is a stickler for organization with all sorts of colored pens and sticker she keep in her planner. Although many fun activities have been included in this trip, she wants to have lots of work for an upcoming ad campaign.

The captain of their boat is experienced with taking couples and groups out for trips along the northeast coast. Josh was once a financial advisor, but left that stress behind to enjoy life on the water in his boat Solitude. When he first meets Danae, Josh is afraid she will turn this trip into all the bullet points in her planner instead of having her team loosen up a little. This is evident when she insults his class on knot making . Will the two of them be able to keep from butting heads and ruining the fun for the team?

Danae is an interesting character. She is practically OCD about her planner and strict schedules. The author slowly reveals parts of the reason why Danae needs to be so organized. The reader can feel more empathy as time goes on not just see her as ambitious and bossy.

Josh has made a life for himself that seems a bit lonely, though he does have family to visit. His background shows how he has retreated from “normal” life and has no plans to settle down, even though he is forty.

I loved the descriptions of the various places the group landed for side trips. It all came alive for me and made me want to visit someday.

The dialogue made the plot flow smoothly and was realistic. I felt as though I was eavesdropping on all that went on.

I highly recommend Sailing At Sunset. It is another heartwarming, sweet romance from Hallmark Publishing. I am so happy to see Hallmark has gotten into books along with their trademark HEA movies.

Sailing at Sunset is another delightful offering from author Cindi Madsen. Danae Danvers was up for promotion to chief marketing officer for Barton Boating Company, established in 1930 and now run by Walter Barton. Mr Barton does award Danae the promotion, but with the caveat that the marketing team, including PR, social media website, and sales, are to go on a week long work retreat to pull together and bring about a brand new marketing plan, and they will be doing so on a Fortune 703 Barton Boat, the largest, most luxurious sailboat in their line. A charter captain has been hired and they are set to sail in just a few days. And, oh by the way, her promotion depended on getting this rag tag marketing group on the same page and with a new plan.

Josh Wheeler had spent a long time in corporate America, that is until his marriage failed and he decided that he was going to live his life rather than work his life away. He had returned to Newport and established his position as a charter sailing captain living on an older sailboat he had restored himself. The Barton job was just another charter, but the organizer of the trip was going to drive him nutty! What kind of control freak was this Danae Danvers anyway?

Danae and Josh couldn’t be more different. She likes to be highly organized, a trait that had been a sticking point with her last boyfriend. Josh was a free wheeling fellow who only used his planner for charters, but there was an undeniable spark. What could she learn about life from this easygoing man, and how could that help her with this contentious group she was trying to lead?

This is another lovely novel by Ms. Madsen. It is filled with endearing characters and takes them on unexpected turns as the story unfolds. I did enjoy this book and I do recommend it!

Sailing at Sunset by Cindi Madsen is a great, light, summery romance. The premise: two single people that seem outwardly to be polar opposites find themselves in a situation where sparks fly and love and companionship develop.

Danae and Josh are great characters with interesting backstories and I enjoyed reading the unique situation that brought them together. Of course they are able to hurdle the oobstacles that are tossed their way, and find their own happy endings for each other and also together.

I always enjoy a seasonal romance, and this book does not disappoint. One can be transported to summer no matter what time of year it is read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for this ARC and in return I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion.

I am posting this review to my GR and BookBub accounts immediately and will post it to my Amazon and B&N accounts upon publication.

4.5 Stars for Sailing at Sunset
This entertaining, fun read drew me in from the first page and I couldn’t put it down until I had read the final line, I was captivated by Josh and Danae’s story.
This is a couple that are total opposites but as they say “ opposites attract “ and this is certainly the case for career driven Danae and laid back Josh who meet on a team building trip on Josh’s boat.
The attraction is instant and being in the confines of a small boat the sparks fly as this couple find themselves questioning the life’s they lead. Will the attraction and chemistry be enough to fight for a future when they both seem to want different things.....
This fun read was just what I needed, I escaped into Josh and Danae’s world and I loved watching their relationship grow, I loved the characters and the story so all that’s left for me to say is please one click this gem of a read.

This is the first romance I've read that featured sailing as the "vehicle" to get the hero and heroine together. It turned out to be a fun one.
Danae is focused and driven and organized. So she's more than a little thrown when her boss tells her she's taking her marketing team on a week long team-building cruise on one of the company yachts. The captain has been hired and he'll also be their tour guide around Martha's Vineyard.
Josh got off the corporate hamster wheel and is perfectly content taking chartered cruises out on his own ship, or hiring himself out for other events. The current job looks to be a pain, because the gal in charge keeps emailing him with changes in the agenda.
This is a romance, so we already know the ending, but getting there was very fun. I've never been to Martha's Vineyard, but I feel like I've visited it. Madsen did a great job with her setting and her characters. Danae and Josh both had to overcome what they thought they wanted in life, in order to be open to the possibility of something more.
I enjoyed this one a lot and I recommend it!

Sweet without being schmaltzy, this was breath of fresh air in the middle of a crazy week. Madsen delivers a story with all of the charm you expect from Hallmark but doesn’t skimp on substance. This book also had me googling the best nearby boat chartering options.

Thank you to Hallmark Publishing and the Author. Cindi Madsen for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Even though the main protagonist grated on my nerves this entire book, I grew to love her by the end of it.
The other characters were loaded with quirkiness and personality that really made for a great story.
I loved hearing about the places they visited throughout the sail and it definitely makes me want to visit these places myself.
Oh and of course I can and would love to see this as a Hallmark movie someday soon!

This was so cute and sweet and everything good I’ve come to anticipate from Cindi Madsen. I’ve read lots of books with characters in close quarters in cabins and various locations similar but haven’t read many set on a boat which was a nice twist. Danae and Josh couldn’t be much more different but they complimented each other beautifully and the banter was great too between them. Thoroughly enjoyed this slow burn romance from start to finish.

I very much enjoyed author Cindi Madsen's "Sailing at Sunset: A feel-good romance from Hallmark Publishing"--a sweet, summery love story where opposites attract, sparks fly, and seeing yourself through another's eyes may be the best view yet! I loved the beautiful New England coastal tour filled with wonderful, quaint places I would love to visit and delicious food and wine that I would love to sample-- the book includes an Original Hallmark Recipe for "Crunchy Salmon Cakes". Danae Danvers has just landed the promotion of her dreams--Chief Marketing Officer at the Barton Boating Company. However, it's an interim position--contingent upon her ability to improve her communications with her coworkers and become a true team player worthy of being the team leader. Much to the dismay of the super-organize, Danae, her boss sets up a "corporate retreat" week-long boat tour for Danae and her team to strengthen their working relationships. Josh Wheeler had willingly turned his back on the corporate world, preferring life on the open sea, sailing his own boat, "Solitude", and occasionally taking work as a boat captain for private tours. After being bombarded with emails from Dane Danvers before the launch, he wasn't really looking forward to meeting the apparently uptight perfectionist. Frustrated by the lack of response to her emails from Josh Wheeler, Danae's anxiety levels had risen even higher regarding the successful outcome of the trip--it meant so much for the future for her and her family. When Josh and Danae meet and begin their journey, sparks--personal and professional--do fly--and each is a bit nonplussed by the other. A definite awareness turns toward an attraction, and as Josh begins to see beyond Danae's need for control, she starts to fall for his easy-going charm. They both have issues to overcome, and seeing themselves through one another's eyes may just give them a clearer view of the future. Josh may have more of a need for companionship and involvement than he realized. Danae begins to realize that when things don't go as planned, they may just turn out better than expected. Can the two of them blend together their opposite outlooks and create a future together filled with more love and laughter than they ever imagined? "Sailing at Sunset" is a delightful contemporary tale--just perfect for Summer breezes, tall, frosty tropical drinks, and sweet dreams of romance at sea.

Perfect catch says the North Star!

It’s the calm before the storm in Cindi Madsen’s “Sailing at Sunset.” A New England romance storm, that is, for the thirty-something, independent, Danae Danvers. A chick-lit-like novel narrative in which still waters run deep, newly-promoted Danae—to marketing director of the Barton Boating Company—is all knotted up. To fully secure her job position, Danae needs to convince her boss, Navy-Vet Walter Barton, that she’s a team player. How? By bringing about, with her five cohorts, a sensational new ad campaign. If she fails, she fears that her ex-beau and coworker, Mark, just might be given her new job.

Enter blows-with-the-wind, sworn-off-marriage-and-kids, forty-year-old boater Josh Wheeler. He’s handsome, strong, a soon-to-be uncle, divorced, and someone whose friends are mostly golden-agers. A dropout from the business world, and the captain of his own fixer-upper sailboat “Solitude,” Josh’s been hired to take Danae and her coworkers on a week-long bonding boating trip aboard Barton’s most luxurious vessel.

Madsen’s story is more than just a bait and hook tale through and through. Rather, it helps to map a new course in an HP romance. That is, with the inclusion of a secondary gay married male character Marco—who’s Danae’s closest office friend—and his husband Justin (in mention), Madsen has penned an even fuller HP romance balanced for the times.

While I did find some narrative portions in the book a bit long winded, Madsen ultimately swabs the romance story deck classic with her characters and the fun, light scenes in which she places them all along the waterway.

From brainstorming boat sessions, to the hilarity during Danae and Josh’s Alpaca yoga class; the tender and grit of their interaction prodding them toward togetherness—through storm, fog, and detour—to their final realizations, Madsen casts and anchors a complete saga-like read that’s interwoven with jealously, friendship, family, compassion, understanding, revelation, and love.

Sometimes quirky, and a bit more forward in her romantic descriptions, Madsen’s writing is different from the otherwise formulaic super-sweet HP style. Still, she lays well here a sailing-relationship foundation for Danae and Josh rooted in their personal histories, buds that convincingly into a seaside-linked HEA, and a romance read well worth approval of the sea gods.

I’m a long-time fan of Cindi Madsen’s writing. She’s just…very versatile. Whether it’s a rom-com, angsty, or sweet romance, she does it all, and she does it all well. Sailing at Sunset is a Hallmark book, so it’s a very sweet romance. But just because it’s sweet, and just because it’s a Hallmark book, doesn’t mean it easily fits into what you’d call the typical Hallmark mold.

NICUnurse’s Rating: Now, full confession…I love Hallmark movies, and I especially love Hallmark Christmas movies. But so many of those Hallmark stories fall into this fairly predictable box. Not saying that’s all bad. Obviously, at times that’s what I’m in the mood for and totally gobble those predictable stories up. I do think there’s a great market for them, as we all know Hallmark isn’t hurting in that aspect of things. But there are times where I’m in the mood for a good, sweet romance that has some real meat to it. And Sailing at Sunset has just that. The H & H both showed a lot of growth throughout the story. It wasn’t just a meet-cute. And I loved how the team grew and meshed as well as the H & H did. Maybe it’s just me, but at a time in history that is so controversial, this story really was uplifting in showing that despite coming from different backgrounds and having our own prejudices, that doesn’t have to make us natural enemies. That each person’s strengths and weaknesses can make for a cohesive group of coworkers that can also become a cohesive and uplifting group of friends. The positivity in this story was very uplifting without being saccharine and just what I was looking for at this point in our crazy year that is 2020. So whether Hallmark stories and/or movies are your thing or not, I really encourage you to give Sailing at Sunset a try. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

I give Sailing at Sunset by Cindi Madsen 4.5 out of 5 stars!

While reading this book, it felt like I was actually watching a Hallmark movie -- from the sailing to the towns, restaurants, and shops that were visited. It’s a story about two people who seem to be polar opposites, but who may have more in common than either of them realizes. Danae is a newly-appointed, interim chief marketing officer for Barton Boating Co. and the queen of organization and punctuality, who thinks she always needs to handle it all. Then there’s Josh, owner of a charter sail boat named Solitude, who was more than happy to leave the rigid corporate world behind to be his own boss after a failed marriage. It was fun following Danae and her team -- one member who is her ex-boyfriend and work rival, Mark -- as they were sent on a week-long cruise aboard one of the company boats, with Josh as their captain and guide, in order to bond and come up with a mutually agreed upon marketing plan. Of course, Danae and Josh get off on the wrong foot before they even meet face-to-face, and they both soon find out that not everything in life can stick to a plan or schedule. One thing I wasn’t sure of until almost the end was whether or not Mark was being sincere or if he was actually a sabotaging snob. And Danae and Josh did their fair share of sabotaging their own relationship. The interactions of all of the characters in this story added to the enjoyment, and this book made me want to go up to New England (which I actually will be at the end of August) and visit every place the characters did. Luckily, Danae and Josh got a little help from their friends in planning and getting to their destined HEA, while learning that there's always room for compromise.

Planner girls FTW!

Danae and Josh's story was so much fun to read! The uptight, plan-everything-overachiever and the left-the-corporate-world-behind-for-"solitude"-on-his-boat couple clash over email before they ever meet in person, and the tension between them just keeps going once they do. Though of course it soon turns to another kind of tension altogether... ;)

Their romance was very sweet, made all the more so by how it also managed to bring so many of the other story characters together too--even though I kind of rolled my eyes at Danae's boss's idea of sending her team out to bond on a boat (okay, so their business is boats, but still...) as the most obvious kind of plot device, it really did work! Plus it really made me want to take a similar cruise...and maybe have a handsome boat captain cook for me so that I can magically like fish too.

(I mean, obviously my parents have been doing it wrong all these years. Plus the various restaurant cooks--yes, I've had fish at more than once restaurant even though I don't like it. People picked places that *only* had fish, darn them, and I kept thinking, well, maybe *this* one won't be so bad. Spoiler alert, it was--but clearly, I just need Josh in the kitchen...

But I digress!)

The grand gesture here is one that will stick with me for a while--I'm not sure I'll be able to look at or think of Polaris without adding the ultimate gold star to its name.

Like Josh, I've always been susceptible to gold stars :)

Rating: 4 stars / B+

Do opposites really attract? Well, in Sailing at Sunset, Cindi Madsen proves that two vastly different ships sailing in the night really can meet and fall in love. Meet Josh, an easy going, laid back man, who owns his own sailing ship named Solitude. He also leads chartered boat rides for rich clients. Then we have super organized Danae who just recently received a Chief Marketing Officer interim position at Barton Boats. In order to demonstrate that she is worthy of the job, she needs to prove that she can bring her coworkers together to create a successful marketing plan on a week long team bonding boat ride. Right away Josh and Danae clash over the best way to build her team. However, as the week goes on, Danae and Josh find themselves changing in unexpected ways.

I found this book to be a light and easy ready. I wasn't quite sure if the situation that the two main characters found themselves in could really happen. Do companies really send their whole office of workers off on week long all expense trips to help them team build and work on marketing plans? I work in a different field of work where that definitely would not happen, so it was hard for me to put myself into the book and believe that this kind of romance could have happened. Although I did enjoy going along with the team's sightseeing excursions and living vicariously thorough their experiences. I'm not always a fan of opposites attract romances because I don't know how much they really work out in real life. However, the author certainly shows that Josh and Danae's romance has potential. I received a copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley. All thoughts expressed are my honest opinions of the book.

I love me a Hallmark book and movie!!! This book did not disappoint. We begin this book with Danae in Newport, Rhode Island getting ready for a major appointment to get a promotion. Her mom was obsessed with Greek mythology and that was how she got her name. Danae is challenged with getting everyone to agree on the solid marketing plan. As the employee of a boat company, Danae knew the hard work that went into a boat, as her dad once had one and knew the old saying that was never spoken out loud about boats was that the two best days of a boat owner’s life was the day that they bought them and the day they sold them. Danae was all about selling boats, not about sailing them. However, she is soon embarking upon quite the adventure on this boat. This book had me giggling with the reference to stickers and glitter. I really could not stop laughing throughout this entire book! It has been quite a while since all I did was laugh my way through a book. I was just grateful that my laughter wasn’t heard while on the subway or while at work on a break. The worst part about this book was finding out that there hasn’t been a movie or TV series made about this yet. I look forward to when this does happen! I love my Hallmark movies and books!!!

Sailing at Sunset by CIndi Madsen gives us a light, summery read that will have you longing to be on a boat with these characters. This story is very well written about two polar opposites that can't seem to resist the sparks that fly between them pretty much at first sight.

Danae is a very organized recently promoted Marketing employee. She is usually uptight and is very particular about schedules. When Danae is instructed to go on a cruise wit her other employees to promote teamwork, she is not so sure how this is all going to turn out. It starts out rocky when the guy that is going to be giving them the tour doesn't respond to her emails about the change in schedule that she wants to happen. She is going to give him a piece of her mind when she sees him...until she meets, Josh.

Josh has recently quit his job so that he can do tours on his boat and live at sea all the time. Josh is not one to go by schedules and sort of just goes with the flow. Total opposite from Danae. When Josh meets Danae he know that she is one to be reconned with for sure. A little uptight for him There is something about her though that makes Josh attracted to her.

So, how will this weekend trip go for Josh and Danae? I can promise you that you will not want to put this one down once you start if that tells you anything! I loved getting lost on the boat with these two. Such a great read!

I voluntary read and reviewed this book and all opinions are my own. Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for an advanced copy of this book!

THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD! I read it less than two days and literally was so drawn in. Cindi Madsen is such a fantastic author, I read another one of her books Country Hearts earlier this year, and it was also a 5/5 star read for me.

So Danae, the main female character, is a planner. Everything has a time and place and is always organized in her planner with her incredible detail and stickers. (Part of the reason I loved this book is that it sounds just like me!!) She just got a promotion at her company, but its permanence is going to be determined by how well her team is able to bond and come up with a marketing plan on a week-long sailing tour that was set up by her boss.

Josh, the main female character, is an adventurer. After his divorce, he changed his life around and decided that life on the water was the only life for him. See where the sea takes him if you will. So he bought a boat, fixed it up, and now lives on it full time and charters trips for people for a living. His most recent gig? A week-long company retreat…

When Danae and Josh meet, they instantly clash together based on Danae’s organization and scheduling, and Josh’s lack thereof. But as time goes on and they are forced to spend time together on the boat, will they realize that they both are too stuck in their ways and could use a little change? READ TO FIND OUT! (It won’t let you down).

So like I said, I LOVED THIS BOOK. Easily 5/5 stars for me. I love feel-good romance books without the sex/steam that some other romance novels have. It’s not that I DON’T like those books, but everyone needs a good Hallmark-style of book/movie every now and then and this was the perfect one for me right now. Perfect summer vibes make you feel good and warm inside.

Compulsively organized Danae Danvers is excited with her new position as Chief Marketing Officer at Barton Boating until she finds out the position is contingent upon getting her team to connect better, and for her to personally learn to listen and become a team player. Hearing her boss's constructive criticism is horribly hard to hear after all she has been through. Now she must pull her team together, brainstorm the launching of their new campaign and website while trapped for a week on a chartered boat or lose what she's worked so hard for.

Josh Wheeler gave up the stress of suits and ties, long meetings and strict deadlines for the relaxation he discovered chartering tours in his sail boat. But his newest client is wearing his patience thin with her excessive texts and repeated changes to the itinerary before he's even met her. Once he does meet the group he knows he has his work cut out for him with the rigid leader. But what was he supposed to do with the feelings he was developing for a woman who represents a lifestyle he didn't want to repeat.

Although good, the main portion of this book takes place on a top of the line sail boat, yet any descriptions of the boat were glaringly missing. No sense of the size of it, details of the cabins, who did the cooking, etc. I couldn't get a clear picture of it or how the group lived on it.

I also thought the book was TOO squeeky clean. It gets old having little more than a few near miss kisses in a ROMANCE novel.

I received an ARC and voluntarily offer this review.

A romance on the water
Best-selling Cindi Madsen Presents "Sailing at Sunset. A feel-good romance from Hallmark Publishing". Danae wants to be the new Chief Marketing Officer of the Barton Boating Company in Newport, Rhode Island, but she only gets the job as an interim position until she can proof that she is a team player during an eight-day chartered cruise. Trying to control became her coping mechanism after she lost her dad and this is an issue she has to deal with. Where she is organized to the extreme Josh Wheeler likes to live on his boat and doesn't care for routines and responsibilities. And he is responsible for the cruise! Their opposite characters make for an interesting cruise which is furthermore influenced by the members of Danae's team. This brings plenty of challenges and Danae has serious struggles with Josh's laid back approach to everything. Will they discover common ground or will they go their separate way at the end of the trip?
I really liked Cindi Madsen's book for her great and believable main and secondary characters who were far from perfect. It is a clean romance that I recommend for lovers of such books and for readers of novels which are published by Hallmark Publishing. As a special treat this novel includes the recipe for Crunchy Salmon Cakes, another of the special Hallmark recipes.
The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

A true story of opposites attract. Danae is such a wonderful character, always organized, always with a plan. She has worked hard for Barton Boating Company over the years, and has just earned the promotion of Chief Marketing Officer . . . but there is a catch. Mr. Barton, the owner of the company, wants the entire marketing team to set sail on an eight day sailing adventure. The position will only be official if Danae can prove that she can be a team player, and rather than a take charge and do it herself kind of gal. And, they leave for the chartered cruise in only four days.
Josh, is the complete opposite; living life in the moment with no plans, and always drifting from one journey to the next. His next journey just so happens to be the charter for Barton Boating Company’s marketing team. And, while it may not be love at first interaction, the story that unfolds between Danae and Josh will take you on many magical twists and turns. They are just what each other has needed in life. The journey of all aboard the sailboat is magical, and you will fall in love with each of the characters aboard and enjoy the journeys and self-discovery each of them make along the way. There is phenomenal growth and character development – definitely a must-read!
This book was a perfect summer read, accompanied by amazing scenery that pulled me and felt like I was along for the sailboat journey as well. The characters are sweet, and you will fall in love with them.
I received an ARC from Hallmark, but these opinions are purely my own.

Enjoyable Clean Sailing Romance by Hallmark

Danae, a control freak on the rise at work, has been repressing her inner fun-girl for years in order to create a stable life where she doesn’t have to worry about the unpredictable or losing a home. Josh has been there, done that with the stable fast-moving work life and wants to take life as it comes sailing on the seas. He’s been hired by a company that makes sailboats to take their marketing team out on a working retreat. As much as Josh and Danae clash, they have undeniable chemistry whenever she lets down her guard. Unfortunately, her ex is also onboard and it looks like he wants her back. Will Danae’s insecurities about stability drive her back to her ex’s arms? Or will she loosen enough to give Josh a chance? And will Josh decide that maybe thinking about a future with Danae is enough for him to find a home base might hold attraction for him now?

What I liked about this story was the interactions between Danae and Josh. They had sparks when they clashed and sparks when they didn’t. And even though it was secondary to the story, I really enjoyed getting to know the team, each with their own distinct personalities, and how they started coming together after being at each other’s throats.

This is a fast-paced clean romance by Hallmark Publishing, and held my interest all the way to the end.

My copy was provided in advance from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Sailing at Sunset by Cindi Madsen was just full of so many beautiful things. Beautiful people, beautiful boats, and amazing scenery everywhere they went. I truly fell in love with every place the group visited in the boat, and each member of the team had their own unique personality they brought to the pages.

Danae was so much fun. She had such personality and her quirkiness was so bubbly. Her gold star stickers and planners can join me any day of the week.

But Josh is the complete opposite. He’s a carefree, no attachments kind of guy. Schedules are made to be changed, and what is life if you can’t have fun. He’s tried to office job and hated it. He wants the freedom his life on the sea provides.

So how exactly do Josh and Danae make it? There are the perfect example of opposites attract, but it wasn’t an easy trip to get there. Starting with the email title the FINAL final schedule with every second of the trip mapped out in fine detail, Josh is sure he will not like the woman on the other end.

But life is full of surprises and love is full of even more. This trip wasn’t just about Josh and Danae though. The whole group found new ways to connect professionally and personally. I think there could be a sequel in there that I’d love to read!

I always enjoy Cindi’s books and this one is also so good. It’s a perfect summer read, light, fun, sweet and loving book. This opposite attract story where the sparks fly and you can’t help but want to be on a boat with Danae and Josh.

The couple couldn’t be more different. While Danae is a little control freak and highly organized, Josh is a free spirit. She works super hard to create a good life for herself so she can’t never be worried about any bad unexpected turns. With a promotion to a Marketing position she has a come up with a marketing plan for a week long sailing tour.

Josh is done with the corporate and uptight world. He quit and after his divorce, he found out that he wants to be in sea all the time and now works doing tours on a boat. And his ultimate job? A week long sailing tour!

And that exactly on a boat that they met. They clash, burn and their banter is amazing. While Danae try to be organized and do everything according to her plan, he does everything on contrary, the less planning the better. And I enjoy a lot reading how they try to learn a little with each other, creating an off charts chemistry and friendship.

I loved the ending. If you are looking for a feel good book, full of romance and banter, this is for you. This is a clean romance, so don’t expect steamy scenes, in the hallmark style.
