This is the first book in the Russian Bodyguard Protectors series.
Protecting Madison is the most important job of my career as a bodyguard.
1) She's my late boss' daughter. 2) She has a beautiful little girl I'd lay down my life for in a second. 3) I never stopped loving her.
When I awoke from a coma eight years ago, permanently disfigured from a mission gone wrong, all I could think about was her.
My boss told me she'd moved on and started a family. I tried to move on too, but I couldn't. She was my first love ... and my last.
When my boss is murdered, the company assigns me to protect her. All I have to do is move in next door and keep her safe. It should be easy, especially since she doesn't even recognize me beneath all my scars.
But watching her reminds me of how beautiful she is. Talking to her makes me want to touch her. I shouldn't. I can't. I don't even look human anymore. I'm a Beast and -- I'm far more dangerous than I was when she knew me.
Everyone is hiding something -- even the dead.
My boss didn't just lie to his enemies -- he lied to the people who loved and trusted him.
He told Madison I'd died in that accident. And he told me her baby wasn't mine.
This author had the makings of a great story. But the background information for the main characters needed to fleshed out more for me. With that being said, I loved the Beauty and Beast theme. Nikolai was a sweet sexy character too. For these reasons I'm giving 2.5 stars!
What is going on with Avery? What secret is it he may know about her? I enjoyed reading Nik and Madi story! Not too happy with her father Daniel keeping Nev from Nik. But in the end they still found one another. Looking forward to the next story.
3.75 Stars. (BW/WM). Amazon e-book. Nickolai was orphaned by his Russian parents when he was very young and was brought to the USA by Madison's father who ran several US charities. By their high school graduation, Madi and Nic were madly in love and unbeknownst to either of them, Madi was pregnant. Madison's father discouraged the relationship; so to make himself more acceptable, Nic joined the Army and became a Special Ops Serviceman and shortly after that he was sent to Afghanistan where he was hit by an IED and suffered severe burns to one side of his face. He was in a coma for 18 months when he woke up, Madison's father lied to him telling him that Madison was married and had a daughter, he also lied to Madison telling her that Nic was dead. I enjoyed the story for the most, the storyline moves well, the characters are likable and the story is a relief from one night stand pregnancies between billionaires and needy alluring lower middle class Black women. I have a few issues with the story... how long is Nic in the Military before he's injured, was there a funeral -at age 18 would Madison require more than her father's word about Nic's alleged death. There are several curious twist and turns; but, the Nickolai, Madison and their daughter will live as happy family life together.
Tender Beast (BWWM Romance: Russian Bodyguard Protectors) is a good and sweet interracial romantic suspense that earned a rating of four stars . The love story of Nik and Mack is very important sweet and sensual. They met and fell in love as teenagers and when Nik joined the the armed services, he was seriously injured. He was in a coma for eighteen months and Mark's father told her Nik was dead. When he came out of his coma her father told him that she had moved on. When they met again. They had a lot of obstacles to overcome before they found their love for each other. It is a good read and I would recommend this book to everyone who enjoys reading good romance novels.
This romance between Nik and Madi kept me enthralled with the mysteries embedded within it. Would she recognize him despite his disfigurement? What was her father into? Where is the threat coming from? Will these lovers have an opportunity for a well deserved second chance? I could not put my phone down until the conclusion! I’m definitely reading Avery & Dimitri’s story next!
Beautiful love story. My heart broke when Nikolai awaken from his 18 month coma only to be lied to by his girlfriend's father. Nikolai never stopped loving Madison. Due to the extensive injuries he suffered while serving in the military; he was a broken man and now knowing that he lost Madison forever had him devastated.
Madison was under the impression that Nikolai had died in Afghanistan. Another lie told by her father simply because he didn't want them together. Madison lived without moving on from the past. Keeping the memory of Nikolai alive through her memories and looking upon the face of their daughter Neveah (who Nikolai knows nothing about).
Nikolai (using the name Dmitri) is a bodyguard and has been assigned to watch over Madison and Neveah. With his face a little disfigured and wearing green contacts to hide his blue eyes he takes on the case to watch over his first love.
Neveah was the star of this story. She took a liking to Dmitri aka Nikolai almost immediately and was always talking about him and wanting to spend time with him. Madison also found herself drawn to Dmitri aka Nikolai and found herself falling in love because he reminded her so much if Nikolai.
Two people who thought they lost the love of their lives only to be reunited with a second chance at love. Super cute story with a Heartwarming HEA
This was a short and sweet story. It's short and to the point. The plot is more of a reason to bring Madi and Nik back together so you don't get a lot of backstory. I'd have liked for the characters to have been more fleshed out but it wasn't bad.
This story had my emotions up and down. I laughed, I cried and then I laughed again. It really takes you through the grindstone but you won’t be disappointed. You simply have to read it !!!!
I loved the story and the build up to them having a relationship but I only gave 4* because I find the lack of character descriptions frustrating. The only reference to it being an IR story is the front cover and the odd mention of her being black. Was her father white? Would appear so but who actually knows. I read broken vow and gave the same feedback
If I could suspend my unbelief to a fantastical degree, I would really have enjoyed this book based on the plot line and the main characters, Nikolai, Madison, and their adorable daughter Neveah. I really loved these characters, and the story elicited a great deal of emotion. Physically scarred heroes and the women who love them is one of my favorite themes. Where the story went off the rails for me is when Madison failed to recognize that Dimitri was really Nik when they kissed and during or after being intimate. If the daughter could recognize that Dimitri was her father by looking at a picture of him as he looked 10 years ago, why didn’t Madison? Even his friend from the orphanage whom he hadn’t seen since he was 14 could recognize Nic and Madison could not recognize her soulmate? WTF? That was a major drawback for me and some of my highlights/comments reflect that.
Second, there were major editing issues, e.g., run-on sentences, missing or extra words making some sentences nonsensical.
I think this author is fully capable of writing a really good book because she has heart and imagination. Now, I am going to read Book 2. I hope the editing issues have been resolved and the story a bit more plausible.

I did enjoy reading this story. I could not give it the full five star rating because as good as the story was told it did not detract from the errors that were noted. It is too bad that Madison and Nevaeh had to suffer from not having Nikolai in their lives. It was also too bad that Nikolai had to lose time away from his girls. I only wish that Daniel gets his comeuppance. Perhaps it will be revealed in the second book? I liked how the author made the girls similar in nature. It was interesting to see the similarity in them along the differences. A few scenes had me puzzled. For instance, why did Nikolai have a condom readily available when neither one of them have been active with anyone since the last time they were together almost a decade ago? When did Madison change on her date with Nikolai from her evening wear to leggings and a t-shirt? How did Nevaeh recognize her father, but Madison did not never meeting him before he came in to her life, but having seen his pictures? I am interested in reading Avery and Dimitri’s story. I can not wait, but I must, as it will not be available until September.
Nikolai and Madison's story was emotional and heartbreaking. Especially since it was because of the lies her father Daniel told them both. Nik had been in a coma for 18 months, was scared, and led to believe the woman he loved had moved on, was happy, and made it look like she had a daughter with another man. Madi was led to think Nik died in Afghanistan. Nevaeh didn't have the joy of Nik being an actual, loving dad to her because of her grandfather's lie. When they are in danger, Nik, aka Dimitri, gets a chance to be near the woman he loves and her daughter. Daniel did horrible things to keep them apart; their love triumphs. Vladimir should have told Nik upfront the truth about Daniel being alive. I loved that neither Madi nor Neveaha let Dimitri/Nik's scares be a drawback to their connection and the closeness they all felt. Thumbs up to Nik and Madi for starting the program to help other orphans and doing good for those less fortunate.
Why have bodyguard in the title and the only thing he protected her from was a letter? Now that I'm thinking about it, he didn't even protect her from that! I was expecting some action in this book, but it was simply a romance story that wasn't well written. I liked Nik's character but she made him soft. I was waiting for Nik to fight to keep his family alive or kill the threat against his family, and I got nothing. I also thought there would be more of a reaction when she found out who Dimitri really was and even that fell flat. I won't read this second book in this series. I gave this book 2 stars because I liked Nik and I liked the cover of the book. No, I wouldn't recommend this book.
Okay. I chose this story be cause of the reviews and the synopsis. The writer starts off with such a bang.I mean you have two people that were in love and become separated because of something beyond their control and lies. The build up is good but along the way it loses steam. The writer paints a dark picture and misses the mark when the story is tied in a cute package. We don't get a touch of what is supposed to be in play instead the story ends abruptly.I am a little disappointed because I feel at least the first part of the story is not told.
This story was really good. It's amazing how people in your own family will try to do things to keep you apart from someone you love and care about. But to go as far as having you think the person died and having that person believe you moved on is beyond me. That really takes the cake. And that is what happens between these two. But hey if it's meant to be them no interference is going to get in the way in the end you somehow managed to find your way back to each other in the end! Thanks great job!
This was a good read and I enjoyed Nik and Madi story ,and Nev is a force to reckon with . This my first time reading a book by Nina Sparrow,so I don't know if she is a new author of not .If you are and continue writing please find someone else to proof read and edit your books. The only reason I finished this book was because I felt it would be a really good read but there were so many errors and jumbled sentences that it was frustrating .I will attempt to read the second book in this series and I truly hope the editing is better because the story line is good
I have to admit this book had a lot of interesting things going on. The whole idea of being dead, but turned out not dead, was brilliant. The whole plot itself was sweet, warming and full of emotion. It did swept me off my feet and making me feels so warm and tingly inside. The pace was slow with so many little details that made it even personal. Both MCs were lovable and sweet to the core. Good people deserved happines. *sigh*
Madison is lead to believe that her soul mate the love of her life died in Afghanistan. Nik after waking up from a coma was lead to believe that Madison and her daughter Nev was happy, he was shown pictures and everything. Can you guess who told this lie, Madison's father. This story has a few twist and turns, one question was never answered who left the threatening letter under Madison's door? First by this author and it was a winner.
This story is fantastic it's a story of a couple that was broke apart due to a lie then eight years later they came back together to circumstances then neither can help she still believing he's gone and he know that her father lied but he have to keep it a secret to protector and no one told him that he had a daughter sister is fantastic passionate romantic and tantalizing
This book was good and interesting. Her father really is a piece of work. I would have liked to see more action- found out who is after her and see them fight. Also it’s a bwwm but little is actually made of that. I mean it a good way, like for instance a reference to their different upbringing as it relates to food, race, relationship with others etc.
I enjoyed reading about Nik and Madison's coming together, but I could not feel that deep down love all the way through the story. With that said I did enjoy the book. I would recommend reading this story and decide for yourself. This is my first time reading this author work and I will definitely be reading this next book. Thank you.
A true love story. Meet 2 people who were separated for 8 years and when she "meet" him she didnt know he was her first love but fell in love with "new man"him that is the love of MADISON & NIKOLAI. THAT MAN HAD IT BAD. They loved each other so much they just couldn't see themselves with anyone else. Such a beautiful story.
I enjoyed this book for a number of reason, my main it's a beautiful written love story. The story was told so well,I felt as though I had been with them through the beginning. At no point did I wonder the why of what? Because the answers were covered throughout the story. Great job to Nina Sparrow and a definite great addition to my book collection.
Nik and Madison have a lovely story, but that’s all it is . The author introduces the Russian Mafia and other criminal elements , all the indication we get of any unfriendly presence is a note. Not even an illusion of a take down of any kind was given, nor was there a foiled evil plot. Why would Madison and Avery need bodyguards?
Thank you for this wonderful story. I can't wait for book 2 so we can get more answers to our questions why her father did what he did an how is that her sister seems to know more than she is telling everyone. I am excited to read the next book.
It was a decent story. I will read the next book in the series. Big turnoff was she allowing her daughter to spend time with a stranger while she studied. A male one at that. I just felt like that part was an epic fail. She didn’t have an inkling who he was.
