The Stable

Rate this book
Historical Sixteen years after the resurrection and departure of Jesus, an educated, Greek physician, by the name of Luke, travels to the land of Israel with his wife, Sappheire. Their purpose is to thoroughly investigate the life and teaching of Jesus, the acclaimed Messiah, and prepare a report for the Roman official who sent them. Luke s work is respected as one of the most scholarly, historically-accurate, first-century documents in existence today. Sappheire is said to have befriended Mary, the aging mother of Jesus. From their intimate conversations over several weeks, Sappheire gathers rich and moving details of eleven miraculous events that surrounded the hushed and hope-filled night when Jesus was born in a stable in Bethlehem. With memory and imagination ignited, Sappheire compiles the story of Jesus birth in a sequence of stirring accounts. This material which she uses to create a series of plays for Greek-speaking audiences in her homeland, is here transcribed into a novel, entitled THE STABLE.

This book, even though amateurish, ended up being enjoyable. Parts were cheesy, but in the end, I can’t help but love the birth of Jesus story. This was an imaginative historical fiction of how the early marriage of Mary and Joseph could have looked. The dialogue in particular can be tiresome and juvenile, but the overall story was good. A particularly well written part is near the end when Mary realizes what Jesus’ fate will probably be according to scripture. Emotional!
