Memories of Tomorrow (Nameless: Season One #6)
by Dean Koontz, Edoardo Ballerini (Narrator)

In this final entry in Season One (a word about that below), Nameless is commissioned to save a little boy from a homicidal stepfather. Nameless is just the person you want on your side in this situation. Whoever is funding him has an endless supply of tech and provisions.

About this being Season One. Being the brilliant, astute, nothing gets by me person that I am, I thought that these six episodes were the end of the story for Nameless. I was happy with how this six short story series ended. But wait, there is a six short story Season Two. How'd I miss that! So Nameless and I aren't finished yet...ha ha

The sixth and final story in Season One of the “Nameless series”, Nameless (a vigilante nomad who gets his assignments from the mysterious Ace of Diamonds) is now assigned to target a man (Chilton Cutter) who murdered his wife and abducted his six-year-old stepson (Jamie). Chilton is currently hiding out in a cave with Jamie, and it’s only a matter of time before he snaps and kills him, too. So, it is up to Nameless take Chilton down. Along the way, clairvoyant Nameless keeps getting visions (either very brief flashbacks or premonitions of things to come, he isn’t sure. He has no memory of his life, except for the past year or so.)

This was another entertaining short-story by Dean Koontz, and the readers finally find out something about Nameless’s past and what made him what he is today. I look forward to reading Season Two of the “Nameless series”.

In this last installment, Nameless tracks down a terrible man who kidnapped his stepson and killed his wife. Showdown takes place in a remote cave. But what is more important, you'll find out some essential background on Nameless. Where is he originally coming from and what circumstances made him into that nameless avenger? Again, Dean Koontz presents a very dark and grim tale. Here we learn that sometimes it's better to forget who you really are. I absolutely loved this six volume series by an author I already read in the 80s and last read many years ago. He's still a very strong and exceptional storyteller and came up with an up-to-date series here. Let's hope we'll hear some more from Nameless. Highly recommended!

Rating: Good

Genre: Thriller

This is the final installment in the Nameless series. Nameless’s mission is to rescue a young boy (Jamie) who is held captive in a cave by his stepfather who has murdered the boy’s mother. This book has more tension than the previous ones as more details are revealed about the main character’s past.

I liked this story more than all the previous ones due to the hard situation. However, I still feel the ending was not as big as I wanted it to be. I really wished for more when it came to the past of the main character that we had just glimpses about in the previous books. More elaboration would have made a bigger difference. Overall, the series is good though. Short and easy to read.

The last volume of the Nameless series was ultimately disappointing to me.

We discovered a little bit more about Nameless but it was too little too late.

I'm counting this book in the series towards my goal, since it was actually about 6 hours listening time between parts 1 and this, part 6.

And for the conclusion in the Nameless series, I thought this last book had a decent ending.

I would have liked more with the amnesia plot, the shadow organization and background of Nameless, but I got enough detail that I won't throw this book across the room.

Dean Koontz gives us just enough information about Nameless and why he has amnesia.

Side note: I do wish we had a shadow organization like this that takes out evil people in our society.
Sure, this comment makes me sound bloodthirsty but I see how law enforcement and the judicial system are unable to find conviction, especially when the guilty party has money.

Memories of Tomorrow starts off with Nameless going after a man that has killed his wife, her parents and taken his stepson underground to escape law enforcement.
Nameless goes into the caves where this killer hides to try and rescue the 7-year-old child that's being held captive.

While Nameless is going through this rescue attempt, he keeps having more visions to the past and possible future. This will lead him to contact the shadow organization to help him with the amnesia. He seems to know that he does not want his memories to come back and needs help forgetting again.

I enjoyed all of the books in the Nameless series and some of the short stories were really good!
Check out this series if you are looking for a entertaining and short series to read!

Actual rating is 2.5 stars.

This is part of a short story series and is the final one. In this one, Nameless is on the hunt to help a child who has been kidnapped by his stepfather and hiding out in underground caverns.

When I first started this series I really liked the idea of it and my interest was piqued. Unfortunately, my interest waned through each book as I felt like we were repeating the same thing over and over and getting nowhere with the mystery. In this one, we get some answers to Nameless and his benefactors but not enough to save this series. The twist of who Nameless actually is a surprise for me. His reasons were not as they were telegraphed awhile ago. The answers we did not get is how is Nameless achieving his goals. The overall feeling I felt after I was done with this last offering is unsatisfied as I felt this series is incomplete.

Dean Koontz is my favorite author but I feel like he missed the mark on this series. Maybe the idea of a short story series doesn't work in his favor. I have been saying this this would have been better served as a full length novel. To me, this series including this book was not fleshed out properly and is average at best. It started off well but ended with a whimper.

I got nothing much to say besides what a letdown this was. I think that Koontz could have done a better job with this collection if he slowly revealed things about Nameless or showed prior flashes or even explained how he was clairvoyant and had the ability to just say what time he wanted to wake up and woke up. Instead the final reveal was a letdown because you could guess at a good 75 percent of what was coming.

"Memories of Tomorrow" has Nameless once again involved with hunting a man who has murdered his wife and others and kidnapped his stepson. Nameless sets out to save the child. He is also still dealing with memories of someone that he knows had to be important to him and worried that an event he keeps seeing again and again is in the future.

Nameless and his whole mission reveal was disappointing. There is some blather about Mexican gangs stealing from pipelines and terrorists and I was just straight baffled. And people going around babbling about Nameless being brave...there's only been one story I think that one had to worry if he was going to get killed, most of this was him just sitting and watching criminals turn on each other and throwing a lot of tip money at people. I still want to understand why he needed to run around with $30,000 when most of his "missions" were at best a day. Also Koontz's gun worship will always be a bit much in his books and this collection as a whole was no better.

The writing was choppy and the flow was too. We get a third party to tell Nameless about his past and that was that. I think there were some good ideas here but Koontz dragged things out too long.

The ending I think was supposed to evoke feelings of appreciating what is right in front of you, but instead I am ready to move on to my next read and forget about this collection. I do have to say the covers really were good and some of the illustrations in the stories were great.

4.5 stars. This was a great end to the series. We do get to find out Nameless's past, and it was as heartbreaking as I expected. I don't blame him for the choice he made. Great series of tales by a master storyteller. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I skimmed a lot of reviews saying they hope there's more from Nameless. I wouldn't mind it but I think it would be hard to keep the episodes fresh and different now that we know his past and the truth of his present. That said, if Dean Koontz writes it, I'll be reading it.

The conclusion to a series of short stories featuring 'nameless', a man with vigilante and predatory urges who is trying to save the vulnerable people in life who have no hope of justice in the traditional sense.
Really enjoyed this series and the ending was great.
Highly recommend reading all. They are free on kindle unlimited if you have that service.

“On this August day in Indiana, in a confusion of past and future, catastrophes will and will not be averted. Many innocent people will be spared from certain death, but others will remain dead.”

——

“Killing even a murderer is never exhilarating. In this case no less than others, death is still death—and solemn. However, there is usually a degree of satisfaction in surviving when the bad guy doesn’t.”

Oh my gosh 😭 Nameless should remain “the man who is not” I now understand. I can’t even imagine him living as who he was in the past. This finale was action packed and so enlightening. Started slow but ended with a bang. Season 2 here I come

4 Stars (Excellent)

Memories of Tomorrow is the stellar conclusion to the highly addictive series by Dean Koontz- about a highly skilled 'killer' dubbed 'Nameless'. Nameless has retrograde amnesia and does not recall anything beyond 2 years prior. 'Nameless' is a highly skilled assassin, and he acts in 'vengeance' taking odd jobs from his handler, only in the name of 'revenge'. Each tale in these short, but fast paced novellas surround a different scenario where 'nameless' is involved to right a previous wrong. Each novella is more addictive than the previous ones, and are 'free' for those who have Amazon prime series. I've given the 'audiobooks' (also included in prime) a shot and they're a gem, and the entire collection is utterly irresistible! This last book finally answers a mounting mystery in all previous books- and sets up the groundwork for possible future full books on this really cool character.

This last part of the Nameless short series was satisfying as pertinent information was given concerning the main character. His final rescue was a success and another villain was put to rest. I can say I enjoyed this short series and I'm looking forward to reading the full novel next year

The sixth and final installment of this mini-series of stories and it was another great one. I really hope to see more from Nameless in the future, as I think Dean Koontz has only scratched the surface with the character. Loved every word of it!

Nameless has to go underground to find a little boy whose been kidnapped by his insane stepfather. His stepfather is a spelunker and hides out in a cave. Nameless is still having visions and decides he needs to be hypnotized again. We learn a bit more about Nameless and the organization. I like these short novellas. They're interesting and a quick read.

6. 50-60 page stories fit into one book.

A man doesn’t know his name and doesn’t have memories before two years ago when he started chasing killers and saving the innocent.

A helping of “Odd Thomas” with a slice of “Mission Impossible” made a really nice meal.

THE BALLAD OF PALADIN LYRICS

Have gun will travel, reads the card of a man
A knight without armor in a savage land
His fast gun hire, heeds the calling wind
A soldier of fortune, is a man called --- Pal-a- din
Paladin, Paladin, where do you roam
Paladin, Paladin, far, far from home
He travels on to where ever he must
A chess knight of silver is his badge of trust
There are campfire legends that the Blade's men sing
Of the man with the gun, of the man called --- Pal-a- din
Paladin, Paladin, where do you roam
Paladin, Paladin, far, far from home
Far from home, far from home
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgvxu...

Nameless is sort of like a modern day Have Gun Will Travel Paladin who helps people in dire need of his assistance. Now that the groundwork has been established for Nameless's background the horizon is open for a full novel series with a slower suspense buildup with more fleshed out plots and characters. He doesn't have a card with a drawing of a chess piece on it but he does have a gun and he certainly is willing to travel for those who need his help. Please Mr. Koontz you ended the Jane Hawk series which had Jane as one of the strongest most intelligent kick ass female protagonists that I have ever read so please do not end this series. I know Nameless has a lot of complete novels chock full of adventure ahead of him since there still is that unknown group out there committing those heinous acts of terror. I am going to fret something awful unless I know that Nameless and his crew is working on tracking them down and putting them out of commission.
