I liked this one, but was put out upon finishing the second chapter and realizing it was not an entire volume about Haruya and Takashina (I was kinda wondering when things were moving really fast in the first chapter, even for a one-volume BL). Nothing in the blurb indicates that this is an anthology.
There are actually four stories/couples here, two that encompass two chapters, and two that are only one chapter. I really liked Haruya and Takashina (first story, as advertised), and Kiyo and Kanata (the second story). I didn't really care for the third story, as it was just kind of there and disjointed; it could have been executed better with more pages, maybe. The final story was also pretty cute. The first two stories benefitted from more pages as the stories were developed a little further, but the characters in these stories were also just more interesting.
Brief synopsis of the four stories without giving away everything:
The first story is as stated in the blurb: Haruya hears the library announcements and falls for the voice behind them, who ends up being the quiet Takashina. Takashina is awkward and really doesn't interact with anyone, but quickly falls for Haruya, who is friendly to him and doesn't expect him to suddenly be outgoing and talkative just because Haruya talks to him first.
The second story is about a boy named Kiyo who grew up with twin best friends, the sister Haruka, and the brother Kanata. He falls for Haruka and, upon having to move away when they're all 12, he gives a confession letter to Kanata to give to Haruka for him because she's sick and can't see him off. Kanata was actually harboring feelings for Kiyo, and when they meet again seven years later...
The third story is about a guy who is about to graduate from college, and who landed a pretty nice new job. His girlfriend of three years breaks up with him because his job will require him to move, and she doesn't want a long distance relationship. They had planned a vacation together, so he goes off to the inn on his own. There he meets an illustrator of children's books, and they find solace in each other while escaping their romantic woes.
The fourth story revolves around a guy named Yuuhi, who is very popular but apparently always getting dumped, and his friend Takeru. While out with friends at a bar "celebrating" Yuuhi getting dumped again, Takeru goes to check on Yuuhi in the bathroom. There, he finds Yuuhi making out with a dude and runs out, apologizing for interrupting. After Yuuhi returns, Takeru can see that Yuuhi has been hit in the face and takes him safely home to tend to his injury. There, he finds out that Yuuhi is indeed gay. Takeru is supportive and isn't bothered about learning Yuuhi's sexuality, but finds that he can't stop thinking about Yuuhi after this...
