Three best friends. A winning lottery ticket. Nothing will ever be the same again.
When Paige and Katie's friend Leandra suddenly returns from several years living overseas without bringing her husband and son back with her, Paige has more questions than she has answers. However, before she has the chance to ask Leandra about what really happened in Australia her friend has an announcement to make. With great fanfare, she tells both Paige and Katie that she bought a lottery ticket for them all to share and the ticket was a winner.
Paige and her family are swept up in a whirlwind of exciting changes as the full impact of the win begins to sink in. However, not all the changes are positive and Leandra seems to think that because she bought the ticket she now has control over their decisions.
Paige's once happy life starts to spiral out of control as her relationship with her husband slowly fractures, her children have difficulty settling into their new lives, and she bickers almost daily with her once best friends. On top of that, it seems Leandra is hiding a secret.

Not much meat and bones to this one. A quick simple read about not much at all. It skips across the surface of both the plot and the characters so you’re left feeling like you’ve read a quick summary of events.
Paige and Katie are over the moon when their best friend Leandra returns home from Australia. Details are sketchy and she’s acting strange but oh well let’s just skip over that. A purchased lotto ticket by leandra leads to the big win of $24 million which she decides to split between her friends by buying them a house, a luxury car and cash in the bank. Events don’t play out too well.
And that’s it.
My only investment in the book is JED the cat. Why wasn’t he taken in by Paige and given a loving home....!? Makes me think I’ve given this book one too many stars! 🤔
Wow, every single character is a whiny asshole. The 'twist' to the lottery win was predictable from the moment it was announced. How naive are these people?

This was a brilliant and unique idea for a story. Well thought out plot and story line. Characters were very believeable and realistic. Suspenseful and so believeable. I could easily see this happening in real life. Very enjoyable read and recommend highly.

What I loved most about this book was the realism. Despite the nature of the story, Nothing about this book ever felt too far fetched to be real. In fact, some parts of this book hit very close to home! I could totally relate to everything that was happening and while I’m usually one for a “fairy tale story”, I think this story was a such an accurate depiction of what would probably really happen after a big lottery win. The grass isn’t always greener and all that. The underlying mystery around Leandra kept you guessing although toward the end I had figured out what the “twist” was probably going to be, so that part didn’t surprise me. Overall, an enjoyable though at times anxiety-inducing read! :)

The hook with this book is the tagline... win some, lose a lot. Of course I needed to find out more! Three best friends share a lottery prize and their lives are instantly changed... but are the changes for better or worse?
Great characters as usual with this author, along with realistic life events and relatable relationships with family and friends. I was starting to put two and two together by the end of the story but I won't ruin it!
I loved the idea of this story. Who doesn't dream of winning the lottery? It started off innocently enough but then the twists started to creep in. I did not expect the ending and definitely did not see it coming.
I always enjoy this author's realistically portrayed characters and this book was no exception. They really could be people you know.
I really enjoyed this thriller about an unexpected lottery win and how it can change your life. The characters are interesting and well developed and the friendships are realistic. The storyline is a good one and is well written with twists and a great ending. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

The theme, the "lesson" of this story is neither new nor profound. But I thought the author did it justice in the presentation, adding a bit of a mystery (although a bit obvious) to the mix. It was pretty tight, no padding and just the right length. If you prefer something more thrilling or intriguing, take a pass; but if you enjoy domestic/neighbourhood drama that is more character driven, then I'd recommend this one.
