My writing definitely reflects who I am...blunt, family oriented, funny, a little whacky, sassy with a potty mouth, unpredictable, and sexy as all get up! (The last one may be self-proclaimed)?
I grew up in The San Fernando Valley, California, yes I am a "Valley Girl." 12 years ago we packed up and moved to Texas and absolutely loved it there! My suspicions of being a small town girl stuck in a city body were confirmed! Recently, we wanted to try our hand at the cold, so we relocated to Colorado Springs, Colorado. It's been beautiful and not too cold yet, but I'm a family person and we'll be heading back to Texas shortly!
I've been married for twenty years and thus far we've managed to not kill each other. We have two amazing, funny, and completely sarcastic teen boys! (Neither will even peek inside my books, the cover is their limit)!
I am always working on my next novel, sometimes physically and sometimes mentally...but the wheels are always spinning! Writing has always been a passion of mine and I enjoy every moment of it, yes, even the frustrating times are still worth it!
I love engaging with my readers so please feel free to contact me with any questions or positive comments you may have!
Thank you so much for being part of my journey, I can't wait to see where it takes me next!
If you’re someone who believes in romance, and soul mates, then this book will peak your interest. Especially those of you, like myself, who believe you can find them at a young age.
The main character in this book: “Chasing Lyrics” by Debbie Dickerson, is Dylan Brooks. She begins her story as one of those thirteen year olds, who is dealing with her body changing, but now she has to deal with moving too. Who wants to move after their Mom dies, and make new friends, and be the new kid? Yeah, no one, that’s who.
But you see, Dylan’s dad, knew she needed change, and he hoped it would help her.
Then Dylan met this fourteen year old boy next door, Tanner Staff, and his Mom, insisted that he would walk Dylan to school. This did not excite Dylan at all, to say the least. But what would happen, was not what anybody would expect, Dylan and Tanner became best of friends.
For years, sixteen to be exact, Dylan and Tanner are inseparable best of friends. They live in the same apartment complex in Austin, Texas. Dylan writes the songs, and Tanner sings them.
Whenever Tanner goes to date, or sleep with a woman, it goes through Dylan like a knife. But he sleeps with the roadies and women who drool over him and think he’s the hottest think since, well… since anything. Dylan doesn’t think she interested in Tanner, she can’t be, he is her best friend. But she does look at him, and admits to herself, from time to time, yeah he does look good.
One day, Tanner decides to take Dylan home, and like usual they sit there, and talk, and cuddle. They have always done this. They reminisce about the day, their performance, and plan the future, songs, drink a little, and even laugh, and watch some TV.
But this night was different. Tanner was noticing something, just how beautiful Dylan was, her eyes, her body, everything. But he shouldn’t do this, she is his best friend. As she lay there on him, he felt an erection growing. Wait, this couldn’t be happening, and shouldn’t be. Tanner got upset, and ran out of the room, and left Dylan for the night.
Eventually, Dylan and Tanner realize, they have something, and are something. And they realize they need to talk about it, and make a decision. Dylan explains that the songs she writes, are written about him, and Tanner explains, the reason he sings as perfect as he does, is because of Dylan.
Tanner and Dylan, realize that since it wasn’t just a friendship they have had all along, they have always been in love.
Then fate steps in, and a huge modeling contract takes Tanner around the world for six months. Jennifer Temple who is on the shoot with Tanner, wants him. She is going to try her best to try to get the man of her dreams.
I don’t want to ruin the ending, I will let you see if Tanner and Dylan remain together, or if Jennifer gets her way. But I will tell you this, I truly loved this book. I found this writer, and this book in a facebook party, and she was advertising it, and I fell in love with the details immediately. I knew I had to read it. And once I did, I was in love. The fact that the writer: Debbie Dickerson took teens, and have them make a name for themselves was impressive. Usually people like to make teens fail, but not this time, I truly like that. I enjoyed this book from cover to cover. I give it five beautiful colorful stars! This was an amazing heartfelt read! It was everything I wanted and then some! Thank you for the opportunity to review this book!
When Dylan and Tanner met at the age of 13 and 14 they knew they would be life long friends. Dyla (Lyrics) lost her mother at a young age and moving next to Tanner at 13 left her feeling like an outcast in a new town and school. Tanner was the average american boy next door but to Lyrics he's was so much more. He became her best friend and protector. Along with Tanner's friendship Lyrics also got a new mother and 2nd father. As the friends became closer and, Lyrics writing songs and Tanner singing them things changed. Just when they both admitted their feelings for each and became a couple Tanner was offered and accepted a job that could change everything. Change for the good or bad still remains to be seen.
Let me start off by saying this book was incredible. I loved everything about this book, including the little twist at the end. Tanner and Dylan (aka Lyrics) were great together and had an amazing friendship that finally turned into something more. Chasing Lyrics was a nice quick read, very descriptive and had enough of the sex to plot ratio that kept you enticed and pleased with how hot and heavy the scenes were, as well as had a great plot that kept me wanting to read more. I am now chomping at the bit for the second book in the series.
I love this book. Tanner and Dylan aka Lyrics are great characters. I loved getting to know them. They come to life in this book. They are deep and have a deep connection with each other. I loved how when they wrote a song in the book it had the song. So its a book and lyrics all in one. Best of both worlds. This book is open ended and it leaves you needed to read book 2. I didn't want this book to end but had to know what happens next and it leaves you needed to read book 2 because you just have to know what is in store for these wonderful characters next.
I enjoyed this book. I love the story and the characters of Dylan and Tanner, the boy/girl next door who are best friends to lovers. There are several grammatical errors and mistakes scattered throughout the book and I wasn't too keen on the writing style, it lacked some finesse and at times seemed juvenile. Despite these niggles I love the story and cannot wait for book two, I just wish I knew how long I had to wait for it.
I am totally bumfuzzled... I was so caught up in Dylan and Tyler's story, and then there were no more pages to read! I need book 2 now! Great story, great writing. Debbie did it again! Girl/boy next door, best friends until they became more... Not much else I can or will say ( no spoilers here!). The only other suggestion is you need to read it!
The love between Tanner and Lyrics is so strong that I was wondering if there would be any sort of drama in this book. This was an extremely fast read! Author Debbie Dickerson really created a cliffhanger for book two, I was very interested in the drama towards the end of the book ( I don't want to give away any spoilers.) This is a fun read and I look forward to reading more from this author!
What an awesome read! Didn't even realize it was book 1 in a series, till the end! I could not put this book down! And can't wait to read the next book! Please hurry Debbie with the next book! I highly recommend all of this author's books!
What a ride!! Loved this book! Cannot wait for more!! I don't want to make this a spoiler but holly crap I hope they get that crazy b#$%$!!! I laughed, cried, and got angry as hell!! So good!!!!
Dylan and Tanner's friendship starts at early teens and it's one that lasted and then transitions into a beautiful love story. You can't help but fall in love with the authenticity of their relationship as they progress throughout life. From the plot to characters, Debbie Dickerson did a great job!
Oh my gosh this book if you like a soul mate type of read this is it . From the begging you can see the connection that Dylan aka lyrics and Tanner have they always felt a certain way towards the other but they never crossed the line until one night a song was created and fellings were now known , when they get together lets just say that it was super intense and hot . After that night of passion they know they can't deny their fillings any longer but soon after the love birds find that they can't be fair apart one job opportunity puts this couple to the test . I loved both characters they were very likable the heroine was so talented , beautiful not only on the outside but inside to , and she was a truly awesome chick she won't let someone disrespect her or her man and a character has a black eye to prove it . The hero was just WOW once he's with the h he wants no one else he was very protective of his girl this couple also is good at dirty talk had me fanning myself . WHAT AN END my mouth was open wide at how shocked I was at what was happening you guys don't want to miss out on this read . copy provided for honest review **************************************** hero = 10 heroine = 10 secondary characters = 10 chemistry = 10 steam = 10 character development = 10 pacing = 10 enjoyment =10 writing style =10 storyline =10 romance =9 darkness level =7 humor =7 pov= dual ending = cliffhanger cover =10 stars = 5 author = 9 would I recommend this book =yes would I re read this book = yes would I read future books by this author = yes
Chasing Lyrics is the first book in the Music & Lyrics series by Author Debbie Dickerson. This is a musician romance novel that tugs on your heart strings like a hot country boy strumming on his guitar.
Dylan (aka Lyrics) moved in next door to Tanner seventeen years ago not too long after her mother passed away. They quickly became best friends and were insepersble. Tanner's family basically adopted her, including her in everything from backyard barbeques to annual summer vacations. Every important moment in their lives were shared, and they stuck together through thick and thin. Meanwhile assuring everyone they were nothing more than friends. Deep down though, Lyric was in love with her best friend.
One night changes everything for the two of them and spins off into a whirlwind romance. Seventeen years of supressing emotions becomes an intense relationship. Lyric and Tanner are obviously meant to be, but they have obstacles to overcome. Shortly after their relationship begins, Tanner gets the chance of a lifetime at a six month modelling gig. It just so happens THE hottest female model will be joining him. Will their relationship be able to survive six months apart, when they've never been separated for more than a week ?
I will warn you, this story ends with a cliffhanger that will have you ripping your hair out of your head, and begging the author for the next book. (which is slated to be released late December / early January ).
Is there a happy ending in store for Lyrics and Tanner ? You'll have to read to find out ;)
Chasing Lyrics is another book from fabulous Debbie Dickerson to which I had the honor to read firsthand. This book is narrated by the main characters Dylan "Lyric" and Tanner. Debbie has a simple way to write what makes this reading addictive. Life is not only one night stands and it is also not only to be isolated from the world so we have to take chances and try to be happy to do what we love and also be happy and enjoy life in the presence of our loved and dearest friends. Can a childhood friendship turn into love? Can we find our soul mate in our best friend? Is it worth risking all in the name of love? These questions made me think for a while, but every page that turned the answers were appearing. Why is it that every book I read always has to be a bad woman, unscrupulous and jealous willing to ruin it wherever she goes? Why is it that there cannot be a simple story? Of course this is just me talking the talk, because I'm sure if the story were not so I would find it very boring. And do not even get me started on the hot scenes that Debbie was keen to describe to the smallest detail, because if you are like me you will love them, that’s for sure… Debbie i'm so upset with you, why did you do that? Now I have to wait anxious for the next book, so start writing right now… The first book I read from Debbie Dickerson was "The Unbreakable contract" and I was in love for the characters and the story and I can guarantee that I loved this book too.
I have had this book on my TBR list for awhile now and just haven't gotten there, but I am glad to say that I finally have!! I enjoyed this book, the characters and the plot, but there were a few things that were really annoying throughout the book. The most important thing for me was the dialog between the characters - I felt like it was forced, not a true way that people would talk - it seemed to interrupt the flow of the story for me at times. I was also a bit thrown as the story talks about there are 4 months remaining, then 5 months and then back to 4 months. I had to really stop and re-read the parts again to see where I had gotten confused...but it wasn't me, it was the story.
Overall this is a good book, and one that I would recommend to friends - just the few things that bothered me, I thought that I should share!
Definitely a 5 star book!! Chasing Lyrics is just one of those books you immediately fall in love with from the first page until the last and it leaves you wanting more of the story. I experienced the emotions both Tanner and Dylan went through from happy, sad, angst, and most of all love. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.
Tanner and Dylan were childhood best friends as long as they could remember and everyone knew they were best friends. Until that one day they became more. The only problem was his modeling contract and his traveling for 6 months. Did the relationship make it with the distance? You'll have to read to find out.
Tanner & Lyric.Best friends.New lovers.Jennifer hot supermodel.A snake in their paradise.Book contains some really smoking sex & possible triggers of non-consensual sex. This novel ends in kind of a cliffhanger that makes you really eager to read the follow-up.
I love Dylan and Tanner's story. It took them long enough to realize their feelings! At the end I appreciate that Dylan goes looking for Tanner rather than falling victim to circumstantial evidence. I am looking forward to the conclusion of the story.
Although this isn't my usual type of book, I found it to be a really good story with a totally unexpected twist (and a cliff-hanger to make you scream) at the end. There are some issues with grammar, punctuation, and typos, but it shouldn't bother anyone who's really into this genre too much.
