The Accidental Unicorn

Rate this book
Oliver Baldwin has a problem.
And it's a big one.
He has a unicorn horn. A unicorn horn that's pink and purple and shoots glitter everywhere.
Everywhere...
But that's not all it does.
So what's a guy who, out of nowhere, has a swirly horn sprout from his head to do?
He calls the ladies of OOPS and in the process gets a bird's eye view of a world he never knew existed.
The good news?
Oliver meets a woman named Vinnie who just might change his mind about never falling in love again.
The bad news?
It's really hard to find the time to get to know someone you think might be the woman of your dreams when you have crazy unicorn hunters hot on your tail, a handful of gods and goddesses who'd like nothing more than to hack your horn off for its special power...
Oh, and the threat of imminent death...

The Accidental Unicorn by Dakota Cassidy is a wonderful addition to the series. I loved that the unicorn was male. I loved Oliver, Vinnie and Baloney. The gang is as hilarious as ever. If you want an escape sure to put a smile on your face then The Accidental Unicorn is for you.

Pretty good! I really enjoyed the characters and sort of fell in love with them in the end. Nina was such a potty mouth, and it bugged me at first, but I ended up loving her ass too 🤣 The plot and story were up and down, grabbing my attention for a bit and losing me in the next. But in the end, those good old found family vibes hooked me. I couldn't get it out of my head that Vinnie was Mirabel Madrigal for some reason 😄💙

I love this series

I missed a few books but each has the same main characters with new supporting roles and stand alone adventures. A quick fun and loving read.

Love catching up with the ladies from OOPs, but The Accidental Unicorn is a little different from the other books in the series.

For starters, Oliver seems to have a unicorn horn growing out of his forehead.

Complete with glitter.

After drinking a unicorn frappuccino.

Weird, right?

But all in all, Oliver is a good guy and the ladies swoop in to help him figure things out. One of the people they reach out to for help is Vinnie, a Greek mythology professor who may be able to shed some light on the subject.

Vinnie also happens to be a descendant of the goddess Hecate. No powers, but she is immortal. So she's got that going for her.

The trouble is, unicorns are rare. So rare that no one knows much about them. So Vinnie and the ladies of OOPs are playing it by ear, trying to track down old legends and second-hand gossip to dig up any useful information on how to help Oliver.

Meanwhile, word about the new unicorn has leaked out and Oliver's life is in danger.

On top of offering an unending supply of glitter, it seems that a unicorn's horn also has healing powers.

So yeah, bad guys would love to get hold of Oliver!

Loved getting to know Oliver and Vinnie! And had a blast getting reacquainted with the ladies of OOPs! Wanda is still pregnant, Marty is still Marty and Nina? Well, Nina is the same smart-mouthed vampire with an attitude that we all know and love!

The Accidental Unicorn is a great addition to the Accidental series! Fun, fast-paced, and as well written as everything Dakota Cassidy writes. I highly recommend this quirky read!

My first book of 2023! It's been in my library bag for a few weeks waiting its turn, and I'm kind of disappointed that I waited so long. This one found it's way to me rather by happenstance. I was walking among the shelves after looking for another book that was located nearby. And the title caught my eye. I love all things unicorn, so I knew that I had to give this one a read. Plus, it has such a pretty cover. And it was even recommended by my favorite librarian. I cannot recommend this one highly enough. It was so wonderfully weird! It's a touch of the paranormal, a beautiful love story, and a it has laugh-out-loud humor. What more could one want from a book?

Oliver finds himself in a strange predicament. Everything in his life was going along just fine, and then one day, out of the clear blue, he finds a horn growing out of his head during lunch. Panic-stricken, he makes a phone call to a paranormal agency called OOPS. The there ladies: brash, swearing, bad mamba Jamba vampire Nina; classy, girly, werewolf entrepreneur Marty; and nurturing mother-to-be Wanda come to his aid. They also recruit a reclusive local professor who is an expert on unicorns named Vinnie. Together this unlikely team discover how Oliver found himself in this mess and how he can go forward. They also must protect him from all those who would like to profit from his powers. Meanwhile, sparks begin to fly between the unicorn and the professor.

If you're looking for something that's different, but amazing, you should read The Accidental Unicorn. It'll be a magical journey. I'm so glad I read it, and now want to read the entire Accidental series.

Another magical mishap

It's back to business as usual for the ladies of O.O.P.s after frightened drama of some of the previous episodes. This time it's the turn of a Unicorn. Oliver Baldwin has what he considers a normal day at work only to find as the day progresses that something strange is happening to him. His head hurts, there's a !ump on his forehead (that's getting bigger) and be is shedding glitter. A phone call to Nina, Wanda and Marty forces him to voice the unmistakable conclusion he is turning into a Unicorn. How this has happened is a mystery, how to fix it also a mystery what's not in doubt though is what unscrupulous people ( natural or supernatural) will do to get their hands on the only known Unicorn born in existence. As ever with the O.O.Ps ladies it's all hands on deck till the situation is resolved the problem this time is none of them have any idea on how to give Oliver his life back.

A Unicorn?????

Oliver had no clue as to how he was now growing a pink and purple horn out of his forehead, but there it was........... And all the frickin glitter to prove it.

He sucked up the courage to contact the ladies of OOPS, but he's not sure if all the stuff he's hearing from them is true. Vampires, Witches, Werewolves , Demons oh my!

Then enters Vinnie, a semi-Goddess, immortality and no powers.

Only Nina could call a man Sparkle Boobs (I can't use the correct term 🙄🙄 ) and get away with it.

Predictable, but cute. Usually read on Kindle, but only audiobook was available... Makes Nina a whole lot more entertaining! Sure hope Dakota doesn't run out of paranormal beings to 'accidentally' become!

FUNNY

A funny and fun-filled ride. It has the obligatory happy ending, but the story is chock full of plot twists and subplots. I highly recommend.

Curious...

4.9 stars just because it doesn't say what happened with the moms in the story, what happened to them? They sure did have an important part in the story...

You are in for a treat in this latest installment in the Accidental Series!!! The ladies of OOPS take on one of their more complicated cases ever.
Who’d have thunk that unicorns really existed. I mean Vampires sure. Werewolves of course. Zombies, duh!!! But Unicorns? Well buckle up because you are about to be taking on a grand adventure of a major “Oops did I do that?” with a large splash of glitter.
This was a great story! As with all of Dakota Cassidy’s Accidental stories we get to see how the OOPS family has grown. How they work together to solve and protect those they believe are their own. This is just a super fun series!! If you are looking for a good make you smile and laugh series you need to pick up one of these books (I would start at the beginning so you know all the history, but I guess you could pick up any book in the series and start there. That is if you don’t mind spoilers.)
Looking forward to what is next in this series. I think I saw something about Trolls.

Another 4 to Cassidy's most recent Accidental story. Cassidy's narration is true to the characteristics of each of her major players. Furthermore, she once again successfully integrates a meaningful theme within the chaos. While she may be running low on paranormals, I found the choice of a unicorn to be a little beyond what one might expect. I also found the explanation of Oliver's accidental transformation a little cheesy as well, but I don't know what I would devise as an alternate method. I would have liked to see Oliver make the full transformation into horse, but I guess a reader can't have everything. Nina's unique epithets for Oliver's altered state didn't disappoint. The antagonist of the story was also a little underdeveloped. I also felt the book dropped off in some cases. eg Why doesn't Khristos ever get back to them? I kept waiting for some intervention from him. Furthermore, a chipmunk as a pocket pet seemed somewhat ludicrous. I kept waiting for the cats to try and eat her. Still, I enjoyed the book and the three original paranormals along with their growing family of misfits.

The ladies from OOPS are at it again...this time with a man sporting a Unicorn Alicorn from his head! Oliver gained a horn while at work one day and it spits purple and pink glitter. What to do? He called OOPS! They have to figure out how he gained the horn. Along the way, they meet a friend of a friend who is a watered-down Goddess, Vinnie. Uncovering what occurred, how to cure him and their normal escapades makes for another hilarious adventure for the group of paranormal. Throughout the adventure, they have to protect Oliver from those determined to sell his horn to the highest bidder for its powers. Wanda, still pregnant as ever, will have to rely on Oliver to perform a miracle! Read the latest installment in this quirky comical series so you will not miss out on the fabulous trio that started it all!

I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
This was a great book !
How could this have happened ?
In a blink of a eye, Oliver gained an unicorn horn on his head.
On the top of that, the horn is pink and it shoots glitter. The horror !
Now, all hell broke loose.
Hunters are after him for his horn.
But have no fear, OOPS in on the job.
They will find a solution to Oliver's problem.
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I can't wait for the next book in this series.

Glitter, A Unicorn & Nina... Oh my!

This just became my second favorite book of all time. Perhaps has topped the first.
I won’t get into the plot or give details away, but TAU is insanely good. We get all of the Accidental banter and humor we love plus FEELS that are just... Ugly cry worthy. Only DC can create memorable moments like those found in this book. I’ve been a fan since book 1, became obsessed with Nina by Accidentally Dead (Book 2) and TAU pulled out all the stops. This is one unforgettable series and no one could’ve written it better.

Fabulous

Man I have missed this series. These books are just plain fu..ing great to quote my favorite character. Read these books, you won't be disappointed. They are laugh out loud funny, characters are real and lovable, throw in a bit of badass and each and everyone of them are unforgettable.
Author gives me a chance to escape and put aside the stresses of life in the pages of these stories, thank you. Keep writing because a long as you do I will buy them recommend them, cherish them as one of my favorites.
