After dealing with the Finnish Gods and their magic-stealing machine, Vervain thought that she could rest easy. But her enemies have reached beyond the grave to hurt her. The Godhunter has been poisoned. Tainted by magic. Her trinity star infected by evil. Freed from fate, she finds her power magnified beyond godhood and starts down a path that threatens to separate her from everyone she loves. As evil consumes her, Vervain must find the strength to fight the greatest enemy she has ever faced; herself.

I absolutely hated this one i hated vervains attitude how evil she became ! I cant lie that I skipped chapters ..alot of them I couldn't take her being like that it wasnt right an I wasnt going to let it ruin my view of her so I skipped more to the end and it definitely got better !
I was devastated. I didn't expect V to become an evil villain, but it starts slowly and then she descends into the darkness deeper and deeper until I just couldn't imagine she could get out of it. She gets poisoned, her magic becomes toxic, no moral compass, no faith to guide it, she becomes the epitome of unlimited power. She could do anything at any point, not just a goddess, she becomes the one to rule them all, all the realms included. I was on my toes the whole time I was reading it, I could not believe what was happening, at some point I lost hope for her. I didn't know if I could continue like her, and I used to dream about being her. She moves away from her husbands and boyfriend, she doesn't need her kids anymore, she creates beings by using her star, she annihilates pantheons, people, whatever is on her path of destruction. She starts small with the mantra "I seek peace by bringing war" but bit by bit she changes for the worse, humans become piteous, gods become a hindrance. Her children become brats in need of a heavy hand, her husbands are to be killed if she sees them again. There seems to be no hope, and I kept watching the pages I have left thinking there is too much to fix, there needs to be more time. It was a great book with many surprises, I was this flabbergasted only when Lesya had been switched with a changeling and no one knew where she is.
And in the end just when I relaxed for a bit from all the horrors, the new chapter for the next book just about made me lose my cool permanently, I don't know if I could sufficiently wait.
And that means this book gets my only 5 starts for this year.
I literally have no other words other than completely and totally mind blowing! The amount of twist and turns this story took is so freaking crazy and yet once again, Amy somehow perfectly summons it up and ends it well. You’re totally gonna cry in this one, there’s a lot of loss and a lot of pain. Thankfully, it ends on a big note of hope.
I absolutely love this series. I get sucked into the story and it's like I'm right there with the characters. I have to say, I didnt love how Vervain was in the middle of this one, but I trusted Amy and she got us back to where we needed to be.
This sucks Just another reason to have a new lover Abandon children I skipped your stupid housewife porn I am not reading you the kids was a deal breaker
This book was ridiculous and a joke. It was like that time loop crap all over again. She refuses to listen, acts like a dumbass and goes and fucks everything up. Then she has a chance to be something other than a human incubator, but no she goes back and finds a new male species. Wtf girl. They act like children, treat you like shit, demand children like you’re a baby factory, and still get mad?! Nan fuck this man I’m sick of it.
Even in the midst of trying to save her, all they think is what they’ll lose from what she could’ve given them, ex: kids again. Evil vervain was straight up more sane than crazy incubator vervain. Her arguments and lashing outs made so much sense. I don’t understand how her men didn’t catch on or even try to be better. Disgusted
great book, i like that it aint short. I have a hard time reading a series/book if the mc get a memory loss or that she get´s her memory removed by someone. for example it´s rh spin off (great falls academy) that makes the mc guys loose their memory off her and anything with her. i just feel like we start from the beginning again if ya know what i mean. Like after a hard work to even be in a relationship with them all. It just get´s ripped to pieces and now we have to start all over again to build up trust, a relationship and all of that. But this book didn´t go that way and she gained herself again so that´s good. i enjoy following Verveins life aka rollercoaster and everyone in it
Was a very enjoyable read. The story was good and and the idea that the main character goes evil isn't something I have read before. It was done in a very entertaining way, I had no idea how it was going to be resolved. However I just didn't enjoy it as much of the other 27 because Vervain's husbands and the God squad wasn't in it that much. I missed Kirill! I usually love the character interaction and it was just missing from this book. I will still be reading and re-reading this series but this is my least favourite one.
I read it all in one day, it has so many twists and turns it felt you were always surprised with the outcome. It was very nuanced and a completely different viewpoints from characters old and new. This was a very impressive book, worth reading and very different to her most recent books which gives a refreshing look to vervain and the godhunter series as a whole.
Not writing any spoilers but Vervain becomes a truly powerful force to be recokned with. Thankfully everything works out for the good of all in the series but I would like to see the fallout with the other gods in the next book. Cuz she's made a few new friends during her travels and it would suck to see them go away. Also potential for new trouble because of what she did to certain gods.
Vervain was tainted. Even in the growing evil inside her , she loved and fought. It was hard to read of her doing evil, but it was a great story. I'm glad she found her way back. I can't wait to see what she does next.
