Slow to start, but an engaging read until the end where the author seems to have problems finishing the story. Fox sets a nice pace but rushes the end where she inserts too many 'so-and-so Growled'. A nice girly plot which could have been more tightly written.

Never judge a book by its cover - we all know that, right?
Well... I did. This one has been sitting on my bookshelf for an embarrassingly long time because I thought it would be a some embarrassing cheesy romance read. However, after suffering romance reader withdrawals, I decided to finally read this one!

And my gosh was I shocked.

Fox has a gorgeous way of blending genres - a hint of romance, drama, comedy and a good heap of friendships to make this entertaining and thought-provoking read. I do believe people find and read books at the right time and this one was really interesting!

Carol ( now in her 40s), is invited to a her high school reunion, where she is so excited to reconnect with her old flame - Gareth Howard. He was a smooth talking smoldering lover back then and she wonder if the feelings are still there and what life could-have-been like if she ended up with him.

First love, second chance romance??

Well - you'll have to give it a read to find out.

Anyway, all I'll say is that time goes on, but some people never change.

This book wasn't what I expected when I picked it up but I really enjoyed it. I feel like it deserves a slightly higher rating than it has here. The characters are well drawn and I really didn't know how it was going to end until I'd gotten most of the way through, which isn't usually how these sort of books are. I expected it to be more of a sweet romantic comedy kind of energy, but when it becomes clear that Gareth is just a massive bastard you realize it's not going to go that way. I think what I enjoy most about it was that it wasn't very predictable and I was pretty invested in the characters. The one thing I'll say is the author seems to gloss over Miss Haze cheating on her husband. That ends up being kind of a footnote which feels a bit unnatural to me since, well, she's cheating on her husband lol.

Out with the old.
In with the new.

So I ended one light read last night and started other soon after..

This was a very good read.

4/5 on this one.. it's super easy to read, super enjoyable one as well.

This one is all about old reunion, old flames rekindling and betrayals coming to life.

Having attended my own school reunion a few years back, I could see many similarities and put my own friends (and myself) into roles in the book. Entertaining and easy to read, good tfor sitting in the garden in the sunshine.

They say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, I think it's also fair to say that you shouldn't judge a book by the first 9 pages either. Because thats what I did, 9 pages in I didn't want to read anymore and its only because I couldn't find anything else to read that I persevered with the book. But I was pleasantly surprised. My e-reader liked to make it difficult for me in some places but all in all a nice read and a lovely ending that was also tinged with sadness but triumph.
