No. Absolutely not. He will not fall in love with his best-friend’s little sister. He is not that guy.
So…yeah, okay, Alyssa Kyle is gorgeous and funny, and she’s slipped into more than a few of his fantasies over the years, but Sebastian Ridgeway is not about to cross that particular line. No way. No day.
Today is the day.
Alyssa’s in trouble. Someone shot at her—actually shot at her—and now she’s getting all kinds of threatening messages. Messages that say she’s about to pay for her brother’s crimes. Only her brother is a computer gaming designer, not some secret agent. The bad guys out there have obviously made a mistake.
There is no mistake.
Sebastian and Alyssa’s brother, Antony, have been working the spy game for years. They started as hacking teens but graduated to the big leagues—and their gaming company is just their cover. Apparently, their cover has been blown. Now some of the bad guys they’ve taken down want payback—and Alyssa is being targeted. Her brother is out of the country, gone dark on an assignment, and Sebastian can’t just leave Alyssa on her own to face the wolves. Not happening. So…
Time to get close.
He moves Alyssa into his home. Provides twenty-four seven protection for her. He figures he can keep his secret desire for her in check—he’s done it for years, after all—or at least, that’s the initial plan. Until he finds out that Alyssa has been longing for him. That he’s starred in more than a few of her fantasies, too.
All bets are off.
He’s held back for years, thinking he was doing the right thing. Thinking he’d never truly deserve a woman like her. But if Alyssa wants him, if Alyssa needs him, nothing will stop him from claiming the woman who owns his heart. Not the bad guys who are closing in, not the government who wants his tech, and not even Alyssa’s big brother.
Keep his hands off her? Stay away from Alyssa? Sorry, that’s…NEVER GONNA HAPPEN.
Absolutely, one hundred percent…Sebastian will not let her go, and he will prove that he is the guy—the only one—for her.
Award-winning author Cynthia Eden writes sexy tales of contemporary romance, romantic suspense, and paranormal romance. She is a New York Times, USA Today, Digital Book World, and IndieReader best-seller. Since she began writing full-time in 2005, Cynthia has written over one hundred novels and novellas.
Cynthia lives along the Alabama Gulf Coast. She loves romance novels, horror movies, and chocolate. Her favorite hobbies including hiking in the mountains (searching for waterfalls) and spelunking.
I love that the author did a mix of suspense and humor in this. We get to see the hero ramp up his very, protective instincts with the heroine as her life becomes in danger, while also getting to see a humorous side to this couple as they navigate the minefield of their relationship.
The heroes are one of the biggest reasons I love Cynthia Eden's books. I like the protective, possessive, and jealous heroes. I get a kick out of their actions when they are that far gone for a woman. This is something this author does very well.
Her heroines are pretty entertaining too. Alyssa sure knew how to keep Sebastian on his toes. There was a misunderstanding from the very beginning that prevented these two from really going for a relationship and it took some danger to come in to Alyssa's life to move them forward. I enjoyed these two very much.
As an avid Cynthia Eden reader I was excited to see there was something new for me to sink into, sadly this book and the characters really underwhelmed me. At times the dialogue wasn't smooth and I found myself pausing and frowning.
The villain in this made my eyes roll he was ridiculous.
The premise was good and I loved the sound of this book but it just didn't work for me.
And so the-worst-dialogue-of-the-century award goes to:
This book right here.
From the very beginning, I just could not take this book seriously because the dialogue was so cringey. I physically shuddered any time someone spoke.
Overall, the book wasn't absolutely despicable, but that isn't much of a selling point. I knew who the bad guy was from the second chapter, so this book didn't even have good mystery going for it.
And the romance part of it?
Shoot me in the face.
Every time Sebastian spoke, I wanted to put my arm in a blender.
Sebastian: Oh I'm a bad guy, Alyssa. You don't want me. You don't know the real me. I'm dangerous. My life's going to put you in danger. Alyssa: But you don't even like me. You're such a selfish prick. *Sebastian pins her against the wall, desk, bed, any surface really* Sebastian: I've wanted you from the moment I saw you. I remember everything about you. I remember your favorite holiday and your favorite bakery. I also want to eat you out until you comf (an acronym if you will). Alyssa: Okay, sounds good.
That right there is the dialogue of every chapter. This exact conversation happened at least six times.
Yeah, tell me that the blender isn't calling your name right now.
Genuinely, I would NOT recommend this book. I was just a sucker to the cover because it was cute. Hey, whoever said you shouldn't judge a book by its cover may have some merit after all.
I really like Ms. Eden's writing in general, I love her OTT alpha heroes and her strong heroines, but this book was subpar. Not dark enough for me, I think.
This is a chickLit and THERE ARE SPIES IN THE BOOK! Through they are not at all professional is another deal.
“That’s the thing,” Sebastian rasped. “No one ever sees the real me.” I do. it's as shitty as the fake one
So as I do this unofficial challenge of Can you read that chickLit it's nothing official just a friend that told me this book is so cliqué I'll be cringing.
She was not wrong! But while I was reading this book I decided to count the most cliqué moment of this book,
So I counted 24 such moment. Some examples are given even when I don't want to;
‘Never Gonna Happen’ is funny, odd and frankly, more than a little silly. Taken in this perspective, it’s a read to laugh about and then leave aside…if that’s really Cynthia Eden’s intention.
The long and short of it is: he’s a spy, she’s not, they’re giddy-pining for each other until a threat on her life tumbles the holding pattern and brings out Sebastian Ridgeway’s obsessive nature in his bid to protect her at all costs.
There’re laughable lines there—probably unintentionally so, but who loudly announces their intention to shoot the enemy to the enemy? Or spill their own secrets about how many people have infiltrated a place? Or reveal their identities as ’spies’?—that make the story less believable than usual, adding to the impossibility of treating ’Never Gonna Happen’ seriously as an RS read. The dialogue can get cringeworthy from time to time and the flighty characters feel better suited to a sitcom about a parody about spies than a tense RS novel.
We’re not told the nature of Sebastian’s shady spy business, only that he’d repetitively done things and is using that cover to craft a persona as a gaming mogul, which lends him less credibility as a spy who simply, for the want of a better word, lacks any subtlety or finesse. In fact, he’s a protagonist that’s hard to describe, so OTT that he seems to constantly be bubbling or boiling over with flared nostrils, hard lines and dark, lusty eyes, along with overstated Alpha-possessive and protective-obsessive tendencies.
Antony—his gaming partner and spy-partner—isn’t much better: rather dim-witted and so lacking perception about human emotions that a wooden block could do a better job of life. Alyssa on the other hand, wavers between being obstinate and insecure, caving easily to her desire for Sebastian then finally saying that it was because she’s loved him all along.
The image I get in my head is of a headless chicken: a broad metaphor for the plot and the characters perhaps, seeing as it runs around but goes nowhere, when the depth of the book stops at arguments about overstepping boundaries and staying safe…and on and on we go. Needless to say, if starting out the book was great, trying to move past the halfway mark was a just real struggle, more’s the pity, because ‘Never Gonna Happen’ could have been something else other than...silly.
This was a perfect, take-me-away read. I should know. I was in desperate need of something fun and flirty to take my mind off of real life and Sebastian and Alyssa did just that.
Alyssa is strong, independent and more than capable of protecting the people she loves. She is fierce but not bull headed or intractable. I enjoy a heroine that can make me smile, laugh, and fall in love with her just as the hero falls in love with her. Alyssa was that kind of heroine.
It’s no secret I love heroes that are passionate about their women from the moment they first meet, and that’s the case with Sebastian. He checked all my boxes for the perfect hero. From day one he saw only Alyssa. He was driven to protect her even if that meant he couldn’t have her. There is also a strong thread of jealousy that runs through his character that surfaces each time the very thought of another man looking, much less touching, her arises.
Alyssa and Sebastian scorched the pages as they moved throughout the story. This is the type of chemistry that I crave but rarely find. Add in a touch of drama, not too heavy but just enough to keep the story moving, as well as a cast of characters that had me drooling for more, and I was completely hooked. This is filled with wonderful banter between comrades, siblings, and coworkers. As the story progressed so did my need for more from this group. There is just so much sweet potential here!
Another good book by Cynthia Eden. She is always a go to author for me because I know I will like the book. This is one of her more light romantic suspense. She says she is going to go back to her darker ones soon.
Lately I just haven't had the drive to write really in depth reviews. Just note it was a fun read. The bok had her trademark hero who falls deep for the heroine and can't breathe without her. :) Love me the protective hero too!
Also, it took me so long to read this because I started Hart of Dixie and had a couple of library books to read. It wasn't that the book took a long time. I just had it on hold a bit.
What do you do when your dream guy shows up to rescue you? Push back of course! Sebastian and Alyssa have danced around each other for years. Sebastian has steered clear since Alyssa is his partner and best friends sister. This story starts off with a bang and keeps the action and suspense going until the end. Great love/hate banter between Alyssa and Sebastian. HEA.
When I start a book by Cynthia Eden I'm guaranteed one thing, a good story. And that's just what I got with Never Gonna Happen. In fact, I felt like I was on a roller coaster the whole time I read it. I didn't want to put the book down when I started on Saturday but I made plans for a social distance visit with the family. I did finish it the second I got home.
This is such a fun read. I just love both Sebastian and Alyssa.
Sebastian is such a wonderful guy that will do anything in his power to protect those he loves. He thinks it's only Alyssa he'd protect by it's not, his friend's well-being is important to him too. The poor guy doesn't think he's good enough for anyone. It's hell growing up the way he did. You lose some of your self-worth.
I bet you're dying to know more about him. You'll have to find out by reading the book.
Alyssa is also a great character. I love how hard she works at acting like Sebastian isn't there. She thinks she can ignore her feelings for him. In fact, they both feel that way. Silly people. You can't do that, it's going to bubble up someday.
These two are so much fun to watch, or read about in this case. You see how much they care they only need to figure that out. Like I mention this story really moves. I felt like I was on a race from almost page one. I will admit that I figured out who the bad guy was but I have to wonder if I did only for the fact that I love Eden's books so much that I can kinda figure her out.
If you like a story with a wonderful romance and great characters with a little suspense thrown in you'll love Never Gonna Happen. It wasn't mentioned if this book is going to be a first in a series but I hope she decides to have it be. Anthony needs his own story and I really need Dex's story. That man is a mystery!
Three and a half I liked the ideas in play here with a tech genius recruited by the government to get information for them. Sebastian is someone who has had a rough life and perhaps hasn't always acted like an angel but he's definitely got his act together and now with his partner Antony has a very successful company. Playing up to his carefree image certainly ensures that no one realises what he sometimes gets up to for Uncle Sam . Alyssa has no idea what her brother and Sebastian frequently get up to whilst supposedly on business trips. What she does know is that Sebastian is an egotistical player who just flashes his dimples and women come running. It's just too bad that he features heavily in her own fantasies but when she goes on a really bad dinner date it's Sebastian who rides to her rescue and then Alyssa learns that Sebastian hasn't exactly shown her what he is really capable of ! This had a fun vibe to it and although it's full of suspense it definitely felt a lot lighter than other books I've read by this author. Sadly I got irritated by the constant use of the word spy because yes I could understand Alyssa using it but the guys would say agents or operatives surely ? It definitely kept pulling me out of the story which was a shame but as Antony and the mysterious Dex could well get their own books I hope that the author uses the word spy an awful lot less. Bottom line is if you enjoy reading about very possessive, alpha heroes with sexy times aplenty then this certainly delivers. Add in a woman who knows her own mind and a mystery to solve and this story will easily while away an afternoon on the beach. This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
Before I start this review, I do have to say that this book was just all over the place. I gave it 2.9 out of 5 stars. Sebastian is a hot computer head who is also a spy for the government, so one day when he receives a message from his best friend Anthony, who also happens to be the big brother of the girl that he is obsessed with, Alyssa, saying that his cover has been blown and to protect her. He leaves all he as to do and finds her. Alyssa is currently on a date with an asshole (whose name I really can't remember right now) and she is looking for anyone to save her from the horror date. Then in comes hot Sebastian who she has a massive crush on but since the night she heard him tell her brother that he would never touch her, she has taken her mind off him. He saves her and after almost being shot, she decides it was safer to stay with Sebastian but soon they start the devil's tango (If you know what I mean). Anyways soon he finds out that he is in love with her.
I liked the story well enough but honestly, parts of it became repetitive and circular. They really like each other and are fighting the attraction hard. She’s obsessed with him and his dimples. He’s obsessed with her and her lips, ass, legs. *rolls eyes* I don’t know how many times this is all mentioned. At one point, I’m like “Just give in already!!!”
Sigh. This is like a meal I “had to” eat for lunch but it wasn’t what I really, really wanted.
In Never Gonna Happen, Sebastian is at his best friend’s 21st birthday party when the birthday girl overhears him promise to never date her. But she of course hears the worst part with no context. This sets off how their relationship works for the next few years. He feels like she barely tolerates him, but for his line of work, he figures that it’s for the best. She feels he only sees her as his best friend's little sister, which he does, but to him, she’s off-limits.
Alyssa never knows how to act around Sebastian. He’s a big part of her life, and she sees him often, but she doesn’t want him to think of her as an annoying younger sister tagging along after her brother’s friend. But when Sebastian gets a text from her brother saying that his cover is blown and to protect Alyssa at all costs, all bets are off. He’s the kind of man who sets his sights on a goal and focuses all of his energy on that goal. Now? Alyssa is that goal. He is trying to keep his hands to himself every time she’s near, and she’s trying to figure out why he’s so concerned for her safety. The back and forth between them leads to some fun scenes, and I really enjoy when they bicker.
But this is more than a cute best friend’s little sister trope. There’s something big happening behind the scenes, and a couple of really big secrets are coming out. Can their budding relationship weather that storm?
This book is tangentially connected to the Wilde Ways series in that Eric Wilde is mentioned, but it’s a stand-alone book. This is a Romantic Suspense, but it’s not nearly as intense as some of this author’s other works. It is however, fun, sassy, suspenseful, and exciting all at the same time. With the fun cover, the lighter tone, and the great cast of side characters, this book has all the elements of my favorites, and I can’t wait to see if the author does more with it as a series!
I don’t think I can get through this book not with such poorly written romance… I was really looking forward to Eden’s new book but this is disappointing. There’s just no chemistry and I can’t see where the attraction stems beyond the physical side. The dialogue/push&pull between the two is a bit eye roll worthy.
Cynthia has written another blockbuster! Full of Suspense, humor, Dangers and Scorching Love😍 This one is my top fav of the year!
Sebastian & Alyssa's story is hot! Both had wanted eachother for years, now they get their chance.
The blurb is perfect, explaining the wtf situation.
With Antony's cover blown,& Alyssa being shot at, Seb's keeping her close, safe.(their Oversharing was Adorable!) Not that she's to like his protectivness. Cue Hilarious Banters!
But, then her house is breached ‘I'll kill you' written. Too close. Seb knows he has to tell her the truth. Spy! She's hurt, but the situation didn't let her think much. Shit keeps happening. Like unwanted photos on net and Dex's(his & A's handler) visit.
Them being alone at night, yup! ;-) Blurting feelings happen and when she tells him she wants him... Well, his fantasy came true❤ Their feelings were true, all along.
But danger keeps coming. Antony went dark, now he's back. his cover was never blown. Who's after her then? Btw, wanna know how Antony founds that his sis is sleeping with his bestie?😂
Then Antony being shot at, her saving him, hospital drama, govt safehouse BS, a bomb (boom!).. so much trouble. I'm happy Seb & Alyssa are close *almost* all along. He's fuming if he isn't close to her, he's a hot cutie!
They've got the thugs! Seb thinks that he brings danger to Alyssa. Glad Antony & Winston(Cop bestie) told him it's BS. Even Dex helped (though he was the one who put the idea there! Bastard!) When a Girl shoots a thug to save you, you thank her, care for her forever. Not leave her!
Life is all about risks and for him, she's willing to take'em.
She's the one for him. Has always been. Alyssa loves him? you bet he's never letting her go.
Soon they're onto the mastermind. And Maybe this drama wasn't about Revenge, but the oldest reason in book. Power. Tech secrets.
The enemy has been close all along. From the start. Btw, Will they find him before he puts a bullet in Antony, in his own damn office?
Seriously, I'm so happy about the secret passages! Good move Seb & Antony😍.
Loved the epilogue! Story Started from her b-day and ended with one. His proposal was swoony❤
P.s. Antony & Ella (their company security head) have the hots for eachother! Hopefully they'll get a book🔥
Never Gonna Happen is a stand alone Romantic Suspense with a twist of Romantic Comedy and it's trope being a best friend's little sister. This book is a spin off of the Wilde series and we can only hope that this is the start of a new series. The book is packed full of action, suspense, comedy and hotness. It's characters and secondary characters are very interesting, the plot believable and the HEA very romantic. MC Sebastian Ridgeway is a guy that you want to wrap your self around and then slap him about the nose and mouth! And the MC Alyssa Kyle is feisty and takes no crap from anyone. I'm a big fan of CE and she came out swinging and hit a home run with this one...
Sebastian Ridgeway and Alyssa Kyle met at her 21st birthday party and her brother made Sebastian promise to keep his hands to himself in which Alyssa overheard. The two have danced around each other ever since. No one knows that Sebastian and her brother are hacker spies for the government but using their real jobs as Gaming Experts as a cover. Sebastian receives a text from her brother saying Alyssa was in danger, to protect her and that his cover had been blown. So, Sebastian rushes off to retrieve her from a terrible date, takes her to his home and gives her 24/7 protection. They want to keep their hands off each other but the attraction is just to strong and so they give in and have sex on every available service. The danger intensifies and Alyssa must become a pawn to draw in her attacker. Sebastian must convince her that he is more than he portrays himself to be and that her leaving him is Never Gonna Happen...
This book is awesome! Another great book by Cynthia Eden! Fast paced, funny, suspenseful, and steamy romance! Sebastian and his best friend Antony own a company but only as a cover up for their real job for the government. After laying eyes on Anthony’s sister Alyssa, Sebastian is hooked but he makes a promise to his friend never to touch her.. unless she asks for it! Now Alyssa is in trouble and Sebastian does everything in his power to protect her and this is where it begins. I loved the witty dialogue, the supporting characters and the intense thoughts from Sebastian! I hope this is the start of a series because I would love to read about Antony , Ella, Winston, and Dex. An awesome book by one of my favorite authors Cynthia Eden! I highly recommend this book! I received this arc from the author and this review is my honest opinion!
Alyssa is a firecracker, “well, we both know I have a tendency to blurt out what I’m thinking.” She shrugged. “Sue me.” Sebastian loved to give his girl free reign, “baby, I effing loved it. Go down on me anytime. Consider it an open invitation. Please, go for it. Over and over again.” I liked this book, I loved Sebastian.
Meh, I wasn’t invested. The dialogue seemed off. There was just too much internal woe-is-me angst with Sebastian. I mean Antony literally said “it gets old” in reference to it & I agree. It got old fast. I ended up skimming towards the end. I didn’t really like or connect with any of the characters.
Yes it Will!! It’s just a mater of time. This was a great fast paced romp. Not to light but not to heavy just a great escape from all the craziness going on in the world. Sebastian and Alyssa make sparks fly when they finally come together. All it takes is one threat and his alpha takes over. Supporting characters I want to get there own books in the future hopefully this is the start of a great new series. Everything you expect from Ms. Eden and more. Thank you NetGalley for a advanced copy of this book for a honest review.
Never Gonna Happen is a fast-paced but light romantic suspense, that's just fun to read. Cynthia Eden is an author who can be relied upon to give you a good story and great characters that will keep you turning the pages. Whether it is an intense thriller, or lighter romantic suspense, paranormal or real-world, her books are guaranteed to keep you addicted and coming back for more.
Never Gonna Happen is filled to the brim with this author's signature romance and heat. The suspense, although always present, is lighter than in many other of her books, which doesn't mean it won't leave you guessing. It's a fun read, and to read the author's notes, it was designed not to be taken too seriously.
Although this book was missing the intense thrills and angst of some of her thrillers, it made up for it with gorgeous characters and humour. It was so easy to fall in love with Sebastian, his possessiveness and complete adoration of Alyssa, and his attempts at being so very alpha male with her were glorious to watch. Alyssa was a great character too. Although she had no idea her brother and his best friend were actually spies, she was undoubtedly no wilting flower and gave as good as she got.
If you are looking for a romantic suspense with a strong ‘who is it’ factor, but without the intensity then I’d highly recommend Never Gonna Happen. This book had me smiling into my coffee quite a few times, and honestly, it was just a beautiful escapist read with enough action, suspense, and whodunit to keep me turning the pages until the end.
This new book looks like it could lead to a new series and I would love it! Cynthia has given us a nice little group of government spies to love.
Never Gonna Happen centers on the co-owner (Sebastian)of a gaming company - Shark Gaming and the other co-owner's (Antony) sister (Alyssa) . Years earlier when Sebastian met Alyssa at her 21st birthday party, Antony told him to stay away from her or they were done. Sebastian agreed to keep his hands off her unless she asked for them. She heard part of the conversation and really told him off leaving all to think she hated his guts, including him.
We learn that Shark gaming is a cover and that both Sebastian and Antony are government spies. They are both tech geniuses and have become billionaires with Shark.
On the night of a huge Shark intell release, Sebastian gets a text telling him that his cover is blown and has gone dark but to keep Alyssa safe. Right there Sebastian leaves the press conference and goes to take care of Alyssa. She is on the date from hell and he removes her. As they are leaving shots are fired at her. He whisks her off to his house where he can keep her safe.
He eventually tells her that he and her brother are spies and that Antony has gone missing. His handler (Dex) is NOT happy.
Lots happens in way of threats. The action is good. No dull moments and the banter with Dex is fun :).
Figuring that an old enemy of Sebastian and Antony is responsible for the apparent attacks and threats on Alyssa, a trap is set.
The way it all plays out is great. I really enjoyed it and like I stated at the beginning, Cynthia could have another great series beginning right here.
This book was kinda awful. The premise was good and the plot was decent, but the writing and dialogue was awful. Tech geniuses and best friends with a secret side business fall into some trouble, and the sister of one is targeted. The other tech genius, the bad boy spy, is then supposed to protect the sister of his best friend and of course falls in love with her. Has all the cliches and tropes you would love, but it was overshadowed by the cliche writing and unrealistic characters. Each character basically had one personality trait and that was it. Every word out of the sisters mouth was something ab how she couldn’t be controlled and she would do what she wanted. The main character, Sebastian, was just repeatedly announced that he did what he wants and doesn’t listen to others, and would do anything for the girl. The best friend/brother? He maybe had four lines other than ‘that’s my sister what are you doing’. No complexities between the characters and they stuck way too hard to there role. Also, the conversations were all over the place and hard to keep track of because everyone just blurted our everything they were thinking as well as things they shouldn’t have been self aware about, which is just unrealistic. The last thing I didn’t like was that the title and blurb was misleading. The title is Never Gonna Happen, and that combined with the summary makes it seem like the two characters aren’t going to get together and be a slow burn. Instead, you find out in basically the first chapter that he’s had feelings for her for years and they have sex within literal hours of being around each other. Not what I signed up for and definitely would not recommend this book.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "NEVER GONNA HAPPEN" Cynthia Eden I just love your books akways look forward to reading your such a creative writer the story grabs from beginning to end. Sebastian and Anthony own a successful Gaming Company they've been friends for years it's a great cover for what they really do working as spys taking down bad guys her brother is out of town gone dark on a mission but their cover has been blown. Alyssas Kyle's brother Anthony is very protective she's gorgeous sexy funny and Sebastian Ridgeway has had a few naughty fantasies that involve her but he can't cross that line Anthony his BF wouldn't approve. When Alyssa's becomes a target her life threatened she moves in with Sebastian for protection he thinks he can keep his desires in check "NOT" their chemistry is scorching hot she's had feelings for him as well. This is definitely a must have book it is addicting so well written with fantastic characters that pull you right into all the chaos he'll protect Alyssa at any cost against the government that wants their tech, and the bad guys closing in in them not even her brother Anthony will stop him she is his to claim. I so can't wait for the next book by Cynthia Eden "CHASE AFTER ME" This a book you don't want to pass up I thoroughly enjoyed this story Awesome Read.....
Sebastián and Alyssa are two characters you can't help but love. Sebastián has been in love with Alyssa from the second he laid eyes on her. Her brother Antony mad him promise he'd never lay a hand on her, but Sebastián put a condition in there that unless she asks him to.
When Sebastián gets a text from Antony asking him to take care of his sister because she's in danger he drops everything to make sure she's safe. He interrupts a date and on the way to his car they get shot at.
As things progressively get worse and the danger rises, they are thrown one curve ball after another. It gets to a point they aren't sure who to trust, even the person who is there to help manage the side business has his own agenda. But is it really in everyone's best interest?
I loved all the twists and turns and the jaw dropping unexpected reveals. The chemistry between Alyssa and Sebastián is almost palpable. Cynthia Eden always creates new characters and makes them original and fun. I loved the characters and even the side characters in this story. Highly recommend this book!
Received ARC in exchange for voluntary honest review
Sebastian & Alyssa Disappointing. So far I have read all and enjoyed most of the Wilde series of stories. This was the first one that disappointed me. It was so over the top 'Mills & Boonish' that I really struggled to finish it. The storyline was amateurish at best and the entire book should have been wound up in two chapters since there was really no depth to the story, but instead it was dragged out by ridiculous conversations that kept skirting around the issue, nearly getting to the point, only to circumnavigate the point again with another chapter of pointless conversation. I think this book was a side novella to the main Wilde series of books. It seems to have been written with the sole purpose of introducing characters who will feature in the next few books of the main series. Other than these character introductions, I'm struggling to understand why the author dropped her writing standard so much with this one. I'd already purchased the next 3 books prior to reading this one so I'm now hoping that I haven't wasted my money.
