For the last decade, successful restaurant owner and chef, Ash Ariti, has worked to make amends for the career-ending mistake he made when he was young and allowed anger to consume him. Driven to be worthy of the second chance he’s been afforded, Ash built a life centered around giving back to his community, all while maintaining a low profile. When he finds himself thrust into the spotlight of a bachelor auction to help one of his favorite causes, he never expects to come face-to-face with the sexy man who’s career he destroyed.

Isaiah Blake has spent a lifetime proving he’s deserving of what he has. After a hit on the ice prematurely ended his NHL career, he committed to becoming a better version of himself. Now, he’s living an open and honest life. So, when he has an opportunity to interview bachelors participating in the Hockey Allies auction for the Hockey Network, the only thing he’s hoping to gain is exposure for his non-profit. That is, until his former rival Ash, steps onto the auction block. Isaiah sees an opportunity to make amends for the suffering he caused ten years ago. Unfortunately, Ash is wary of Isaiah’s motives, and soon Isaiah realizes there is more to Ash’s cautiousness than the history that binds them.

Attraction takes hold as Ash and Isaiah begin to build a new professional alliance and friendship. They must learn to forgive each other, and most importantly, themselves. With outside forces and public opinion hawking, will their relationship be over before it begins? Or will they discover joy and redemption in each other, and find their happily ever after?

Absolving Ash, by Chantal Mer, is the final book in the Hockey Allies Bachelor Bid series, and WOW! What a way to wrap up this series. Chantal is a new to me author and I immediately fell in love with her writing. This is a M/M sports romance. This is my favorite kind of couple, two strong alpha men, equal in strength and dominance. Get ready to swoon.

Asher Delecroix is twenty four when we first meet him. He is out and comfortable with his sexuality, he is captain of his hockey team, Houston Hellfire, his career riding the high of success.

Isaiah Blake is twenty and has kept his true self hidden, both from the hockey world and from his father, a former hockey star. He’s full of anger and will do just about anything to win.

Two men, pitted against one another on the ice. In the heat of the moment, life altering mistakes were made, changing two careers permanently.

Now, ten years later, Ash is a successful chef for his restaurant, Long Change. He spends all his time giving back to the community in any way he can, trying to be a better man. He has never forgiven himself for what happened ten years ago. Isaiah never played again after that night either. But he likes the man he is now so much better. He’s living honestly, coming clean with who he is, both to his father, and publicly.

It’s the night of the Bachelor auction and Ash is cooking. Only instead of being behind the scenes, he finds himself under the spotlight for the first time in ten years, and who is in the audience, but the man whose life he ruined all those years ago, Isaiah.

“When I’m near him, I need to touch him. It’s like there’s some magnetic force that pulls me to him.”

Ash and Isaiah are face to face after all these years. Both feel the immediate chemistry. Isaiah has long forgiven Ash for what happened but Ash hasn’t forgiven himself. But Isaiah isn’t willing to walk away without exploring this attraction.

“Being held my Ash, sharing his heat, his breath, is one of my new favorite places to be.”

big don and little dog - Google Search

These two are both fighting with their own history, as well as the opinions of the outside world. It’s so funny, though, that with all their own struggles, their dogs had it figured out right away. It was love at first sight. Now their masters just need to figure it out. I also want to mention that I loved the secondary characters, Ash’s sous chef, Alejandro, and his sister, Sophie. They were both so much fun, and kept Ash in line when he needed it.

forgiveness - Google Search

I loved this one! Their chemistry was hot, I loved them together. It’s just one of those times when I fell in love with them both right away. I’ve enjoyed all five of these books, each so different than the other, and have enjoyed meeting all of the authors that were new to me.

“Being with you is the one place I always want to be.”

Another new author for me and another entertaining read.

I liked the strength of character that Isiah showed in knowing what he wanted and how he'd changed so much from the unhappy man he was.

I also liked Ash, even while his martyr complex drive me nuts!

Together they sparked and their sort of second chances romance was a delight.

I love good enemies to-lovers trope. Gets your blood moving, waiting for the clashes to happen. However when the enemy is yourself, that can be a bit more for the characters to overcome.

Isaiah and Ash have a history in a sport that isn't known for being gentle on the body. When the desire to win runs high, you take advantage to shake the opponent in whatever manner you can and sometimes inappropriate. Mistakes of youth are made and both are removed from the sport they love before they can make a mark.

Fast forward, older, wiser and now new careers, Isaiah and Ash meet up again. Not as angry. And able to see something attractive in the other. When they come together, sparks fly and scenes are off the charts hot with intimacy.

This was a new to me author recommended by a friend. The story had all the elements I love in a storyline. The pacing of the story kept me engaged. Not too much angst. Both characters were relatable. This is part of a multi-author series but can be read as standalone. If you are on Kindle Unlimited and need some hockey romance, this is a definite borrow recommendation from me.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is a story in the Hockey Allies Bachelor Bids collection - and I am really enjoying having a slew of new books to read with a common theme, but different authors.

Ash is now a very successful chef, but ten years ago, after being severely provoked on the ice, he slammed down opponent, Isaiah Blake, and ended his career. He has lived with the guilt all this time, and reinvented himself and hid. Then at a bachelor auction he finds himself on the stage, facing the one man who will surely never forgive him.

Isaiah Blake spent most of his life in the shadow of his fabulously successful NHL father. The hit on the ice may have ended his career, but he has since learned what a relief it was to step sideways in the sport. He cannot help himself bidding on Ash at the auction, and finally putting the past to rest.

This is such a great set up for a really delicious romance. And yes, I mean that partly in terms of the lovely food that we get to read about them enjoying, but mostly because these two men really do have a chemistry which needs to be explored and enjoyed. Add in Grinder and Cila and this is a relationship which may not go smoothly, but really deserves to go the distance.

I think this was a really lovely way to take the hockey angle and give the reader an interesting twist. Thank you Chantal Mer for a very enjoyable read.

I am really enjoying this series so far and I loved Ash and Isaiah’s story! These two men share a rough, career ending history but when they are reunited at the bachelor auction, it’s all about the future for them.

Immediately, I liked both Ash and Isaiah and really did feel for the things they’d gone through. Ten years after their incident they are now both successful men, Isaiah has come to terms with the man he is and is out and proud, while Ash, well he’s certainly successful and kind and does so much good but can’t forgive himself for the mistake he made. They share a great connection but Ash fights it, struggling with his guilt and afraid of damaging Isaiah’s reputation. I loved how honest and real Isaiah was about his feelings for Ash and their situation.

I thought this this was a great mix of steamy romance, a bit of angst and some heart-melting forgiveness and love! I definitely enjoyed this book from start to finish, I didn’t want to put it down! A great addition to this series and I’m really looking forward to continuing on with this group!

This is a new to me author and this was surprisingly the best of the three I’ve read so far. I’ve really liked the other two as they were more lighthearted than this one and we all need that right now, but I think this story has the most substance. There are a lot of heavy emotions and issues as well as quite a bit of pain between the characters and hockey, in general, surrounding these two.

Isaiah and Ash have amazing chemistry and are emotionally tied together because of their past. They are both amazingly generous, strong men. I love that Isaiah won’t give up on Ash, even though it does take some prodding from who becomes a surprising source. These two definitely are made for each other and should have an amazing life together after fighting the battles they have to fight.

Just like with the other two I’ve read; the epilogue revisits the couple at the auction one year later and I LOVED the ending of this one!

I'm a fricking mess...Chantal Mer what have you done???

To say I loved Ash and is such a little word. These two men have captured my heart for the very first page and I read it in one sitting biting my nails just hoping Ash would see how Isaiah saw him. They mad me cry more times than I'd like to admit but left me with heart so full by the end of it.

I'm giving this one all the stars I can and then some. Absolutely PERFECT!!!

Passion and Substance!

This story had my attention from the very beginning. The character development was slow and steady to the point where you felt like these guys were your best friends by the time you were done. Truly engaging and had me invested all the way through. Peppered with naughtiness and humor this is a must read! Great Job Chantal Mer!!!

I was concerned at first because the tense used here is one I'm not always keen on, and it can be a minefield, then there were a couple of early errors (roles instead of rolls, that sort of thing).
But I soon got sucked into the story, and what a story it was. The pacing was tight, the conflict real and understandable, and the MCs were excellent, a mix of romance novel perfection and complex neuroses stemming from an incident 10 years earlier. Isaiah was lovely, but it was Ash that stole my heart. A big lug of a man who can't accept he deserves happiness is like my Kryptonite and add in to that enemies to lovers and I'm one very happy bunny.
I hope this author decides to write more m/m, because I'll be reading it.

I was immediately drawn into this story. It centers around two men that have an upsetting past history. One defining moment created out of uncontrolled rage changed the destiny of the rival hockey players.
Ash has lived in guilt for a decade. He reacted to some poisonous words from a smart-mouthed player Isaiah and his world and identity were forever changed. A fight on the ice that got carried away, left his opponent in critical condition and destroyed his career. Ash was so consumed with guilt and grief from his behavior, he left the game he loved. The altercation is in the very beginning of the book and sets the plot. It is understandable that Ash snapped as Isaiah was beyond cruel. Years have passed and Isaiah also carries guilt over his harsh taunts that caused the fight.
Both have matured into very wonderful men that give so much back to their communities but they need to forget the past. Being young and arrogant is the nature of the beast, especially in this sport. Isaiah had forgiven Ash’s attack years ago and recognized his part in the fight. Ash, though, is so hard on himself. He can’t get past that incident and is filled with self-loathing. Miraculously, he has managed to own a very successful restaurant and cooking is the balm he needed to get through the years.
I am not a huge fan of the charity auction theme as it has been done to death but it was a short, tasteful and believable scene. Isaiah, who operates a huge fundraiser, sees Ash, who was goaded as a last-minute replacement, and you can guess what happens. Isaiah really wants a chance to reconnect with Ash and apologize for his brutal verbal jabs that fateful day.
The slow build and the steaming connection between the two were solid and perfect. I equally loved both of these men. One that has accepted his life and the other that still runs away. The author wrote a tender and beautiful story filled with hope and forgiveness. I will absolutely reread this novel and cannot wait for future work from Ms. Mer. I really hope you give this book a try. Happy Reading!

Upon reading Chantel Mer's contribution to the multi-author Hockey Allies Bachelor Bid series, I am blown away. Absolving Ash is an amazing book.

Everything about this book works for me. A story of second chances in life, it touched my heart early on, and consumed me throughout.

Ash and Isiah are two men who should hate one another. Instead, their story is one of forgiveness and learning to release oneself from the shackles of guilt.

After an incident years ago, their reunion is awkward and full of hesitancy. Ash is a man with a heart of gold, trying to make amends for his mistakes. Meanwhile, Isiah is a man who's aware of his own mistakes and is trying to move past them. I praise the way this one event in time has shaped both men. And I applaud the back story of each men, explaining what led to this event in the first place.

These are two men who have grown from their past mistakes, and feel a connection now. They are extremely hot together, but they have a long hard fought journey if they want to be together. They are two men who the world thinks shouldn't be together, and they face many obstacles.

The author does a wonderful job exploring how holding onto guilt holds one back from truly living.

As for the ending, it's totally swoon-worthy.

Absolving Ash is my favorite of the series. As Chantel Ash is a new to me author, I am pleasantly surprised. This romance is hot, sweet, and tender, and will definitely be added to my re-read list.

What a beautiful story about regrets and heartache and forgiveness and love.

I devoured this quick, well-written story - I enjoyed every word. It was full of passion and sparks and gave me so many feels and heart flutters and smiles.

Ten years later, after a bad decision, Ash still feels guilty and horrible about what happened. Isaiah forgave him a long time ago. Watching these two meet and talk again after many years, and strengthen their friendship and their bond was heartwarming. I loved these two together.

From the adorable-ness of their dogs being in love, to the cooking Ash does for Isaiah, to the way Isaiah kept chasing after Ash, I was pretty much swooning throughout the whole book.

Their chemistry was electric. I could feel the love. I really, really like it when kisses are full of nips and bites and growls. These two powerful men fighting for dominance was delicious. I couldn’t get enough.

I must add that I adored supporting characters Sophie (Ash’s sister) and Alejandro (Ash’s best friend). They were perfect additions to this story.

Chantal Mer was a new-to-me author and I cannot wait to read more from her!

For once I'm going to start out at the end😉. This is the third entry of the Hockey Allies Bachelor Bid series I've read and I just want to say how much I love the epilogues of each one and Absolving Ash is no different. Now I won't give anything away but I just needed to put it out there because, epilogues can be tricky, if not done right then they appear as a quick way to wrap up or guarantee a HEA, but when done right . . . well, when done right they are a perfect conclusion that doesn't have to be a be-all-end-all, there's always room for more if the characters wish to tell more.

As for Ash and Isaiah, what's not to love? They both did things wrong and then never took the chance to resolve it until 10 years later when fate stepped in, fate always finds a way. What these two have together is unmistakable and energetic, that's not to say it's all unicorns and roses but it's definitely deliciously entertaining. One thing I really loved, despite the horrible reasons why they had to, was the fact that both characters found a satisfying life after hockey, not something we often see in sports romances and that element made this story even better for me.

Chantal Mer is a new author to me, which for some people that can be a scary notion, for me it adds an extra layer of adrenaline rush. I was not disappointed. Chantal Mer is definitely going on my authors-to-watch list. Some might call Absolving Ash a second chance romance but I call it a second chance at life journey. A winning gem not to be missed.

Another story in the Hockey Allies Bachelor Bids collection and can I say that I am so glad I got this one by mistake! Asher was the key element in causing Isaiah to lose his career before it really even started. Now, ten years later, neither play hockey and have moved on job wise; for Asher he put his all in his restaurant, goes by Ash now and does his very best at giving people a second chance... even if he doesn't feel he needs a second chance. When Isaiah has the chance to bid on Ash in the bachelor auction, he doesn't waste one second and makes sure that he bids high and fast. Now is his chance to let Ash know that he forgives him and that he is sorry for the part he played that day so long ago. Isaiah knows he wants more from Ash than what Ash is willing to give, and in fact, Ash pushes Isaiah away and runs at the first chance he gets. But what Ash doesn't realize yet is that Isaiah isn't going to give up easy, but will Ash push too much and lose Isaiah in the end?

I really enjoyed this story, from the very first page all the way to the epilogue. Ash and Isaiah had me rooting for them to make it. I didn't even mind the push and pull that we get from them. Some drama, cute puppies, and some very nicely done naughty bits, I give this 5 stars.

So much angst from Ash! It's a good thing Isaiah has the patience, the forgiveness to fall in love with Ash and to show him he deserves life, happiness, and Isaiah. Unfortunately Isaiah's dad spills secrets that were not his to spill which causes Ash to run away. Thankfully there is a sweet hea,

While reading this book I wanted to grab Ash, hug him tight and not let him go until he realized what a great person he was and convince him to forgive himself. He reacted to a vicious stab to the heart and couldn't control his anger on the ice. The man who delivered that stab , Isaiah, was trying to hide who he was and was not happy with himself and was an ass..by his own admission.
Their story ripped at my heart. The men both had flaws but what they saw in the other, what they felt for each other, jumped off the page and into my face and heart. There was no way a person could read this and not be affected by these two. Mistakes were made, things were done to try and make up for those mistakes. Love ruled the day . Love is Love and that is what got these two to where they ended up. They vowed never to give up on each other.
I loved this series of books...Hockey Allies Bid Series. Each author brought an amazing story to us to read and enjoy. So thank you to them all! Chantal Mer, Rj Scott, V.l. Locey, Jeff Adams and Susan Scott Shelley. May you all join together again and give us more!

This is one is a totally and absolutely me and not the book. I won’t rate it because it wouldn’t be fair.
It’s a beautiful story and I connect to the characters more tjs I expected . Asher and Isaiah are amazing together and the dogs are adorable ( one of them hid name is Grinder 😆)

Usually I’m not fan of 2nd chance trope but this one really hit got me hooked. I know it’s because my mood and it makes me sad I dfned it.
One day I’ll read it because I loved it but the break up at 80%, being separated for months and MCs who gets dumped and hurt for stupid reasons is the one who run back to the other Mc to apologize and gets him back. The worse is the Mc (Asher in this case) who dumped his love interest (Isaiah) got his head out of his butt and had an epiphany that he’s in love with him and he’s an epic idiot but he didn’t do nothing about until Isaiah came back weeks later. It was a very sweet reunion though and that’s what made it harder.

I’m sorry Mrs Mer, you’re a good writer and I hate myself for being a whiny bitch and letting mood controlling my stupid emotions.

I highly recommend that’s for sure.

This is a truly beautiful read. 🥰🥰

I read a review about books having to be really special to get five stars as there is always a fault in a books somewhere. This story of Isaiah and Ash just melted my heart. Isaiah is a beautiful man down to the bone, he new what he wanted and he understood Ash like no other, he determination to keep Ash was so beautiful and I for one are glad he didn’t let Ash push him away.
Ash was so hard on himself, he was a kind, gentle man and he really needed to forgive himself. His love for Isaiah was felt worlds away but he never wanted to make Isaiah’s life hard for him so he kept running.
The dogs were so cute and side characters were really good. The writing is brilliant and easy to read and follow. First story in this series was good, second one just no, third was brilliant, fourth a pleasant read but this one is truly amazing. Loved it, thank you for sharing this great story with the world.

This is another installment in the Hockey Allies Bachelor Bid world share series. I love hockey books! In this one, Asher is nastily antagonized on the ice by Isaiah and he delivers a career-ending hit to Isaiah. Ash leaves hockey, changes his name, and becomes a chef/restaurant owner. He has a ton of guilt about what happened and really feels like he deserves anything bad that comes to him. When they finally see each other again, Isaiah has forgiven him, and he works throughout the book to get Ash to forgive himself.

I liked this. I can't say that it was my favorite of the series, but it was really good. I loved Ash. He really had a heart of gold and worked hard to make up for his past. Isaiah was a sweetheart and a perfect match for Ash. They were great together, and I loved watching Ash grow and find peace and love.

Review: When Ash was younger he did something he believes was unforgivable to Isaiah. Isaiah saw this action as something that made him realize he needed to grow up and own his identity. How they navigate meeting again and romance blossoming makes for an enjoyable read. The author doesn't gloss over the action at the heart of their story, but she shows that if you acknowledge ii and show genuine remorse it doesn't define you for your whole life.

"To err is human, to forgive, divine."
A few despicable words uttered and two lives and careers are in ruins. Isaiah and Ash meet again 10 years later and feelings are raw, emotions blunt. A wonderful tale of two men struggling to forgive and move on, for one it seems impossible, for the other it seems easier. I'm not into hockey but this was an amazing tale, sweet, sad, painful, and glorious.
