She can never be his omega, but she’s everything he craves.

No woman willingly travels to the Boundarylands.

It’s where they are—the Alphas.

They keep to themselves in the wilderness, and beta civilization knows to keep its distance. Especially beta women…for fear they may not be a beta after all.

The only way to know your true nature is to feel the touch of an Alpha. Omegas may be rare, but every woman knows their fates are hellish—held captive, broken, mated, knotted, and bred.

Cassidy is one of the few trusted betas in the Boundarylands, and maybe the one who knows them best. She’s spent years keeping her head down and studying their ways. But her submissive ways and mundane nature hasn’t stopped the biggest and baddest Alpha from noticing her.

Even though she’s no one special, Cassidy can’t deny the pull that draws her toward Samson. She might never be his omega, but that’s the benefit of being the biggest alpha in the pack—you can do whatever the hell you want.

Samson is the third book in The Boundaryland Omegaverse, a hot new ABO romance series featuring knotting, heats, and possession. Wear gloves, cause this sh*t is hot.

I kept waiting to turn the page & discover that she was really an omega, that the university had secretly been feeding new & cutting edge suppressants to students as a trial to cull the omega transition...
Point being, I don’t read fantasy for mediocrity & if I have to re-write the story in my head to make it interesting- you missed the mark.

Spoilers ahead

Cassidy is a sociology student who's made several trips to the Boundarylands with her professor to study and develop a greater understanding of Alphas. During this time she's developed relationships eith the Alphas and Ty's Omega, within that time her attraction to Samson has been simmering all along.

Samson is the biggest Alpha of the group, for the entire time he's known Cassidy he's wanted her but his subtle touches has revealed she's a beta. While it's known Alphas and omegas are meant to be paired Sampson knows he's never wanted anyone as much as he's wanted Cassidy.
One night while Cassidy is on a research trip to the Boundarylands she drinks too much and the heat between the two finally explodes. But betas are not meant to mate Alphas ad their unusual relationship isn't accepted by everyone

******

How is it that the best book of the series so far is the one I can't accept? This world is built on the fact that probably 95% of females are kept away from the Alphas, they are raised to believe Alphas are nothing more than animals and to fear them. It's a rare few who venture into the Boundarylands willingly and they've all been Betas. The prostitutes who willingly work in the Boundarylands are all Betas. Now a woman will only present as an Omega if she touches an Alpha so that means that Samson's Omega could still be out there!!! I once read an Omegaverse with a pairing of secondary characters who were Alpha and Beta, when an Omega showed he abandoned his pregnant Beta wife to go off with the Omega, now that may have coloured my view here but I cannot believe in the HEA of this couple, I keep thinking they could be together for years and his mate shows up smh. There's a bit of explanation that she's his mate because he can knot her and such but I just don't buy it. I kept waiting for a miracle, like maybe she'd unknowingly been on suppressants and she would turn into an Omega when they had sex but it never happened. For me the author dropped the ball and didn't do justice to this couple, I'd have accepted a miracle flip rather than this craziness. It's unfortunate because I liked the mcs. Oh well😒

No cheating
H/h have wanted each other for months and both have been celibate during that time( the reason for my 2 star rating instead of 1. I stan a loyal hero),

Of all the books in the series, this is my least favourite. The reason is that I don't personally like Betas being with Alphas as their mates. That's just my own personal feelings on it - the couple is good and all that, I do like her as a persona and she ends up doing good things that do help (more of that in other books)- but I just can't help hating the Beta/Alpha coupling. I will always be an Omega/Alpha fan, sorry but that's just how it is.

This was ok. While I liked it I also didn’t. I really like how omegas are special to alphas for this to be an alpha beta pairing dulled a bit of the magic for me. It’s like have a soul mate but refusing to acknowledge them and settling with someone else

I was really looking forward to this book because I really liked Samson in the previous books, but I didn’t like that he fell for a Beta. It just didn’t make sense. The whole series is based on OMEGAS and Alpha’s and their their fated connection! As soon as the Alpha touches the beta it reveals her true nature as an Omega. Then they claim each other and have a soul deep bond. That’s the whole premise of the series! Yet, all of a sudden, Samson is mated to a Beta?! It didn’t make sense! So far this is my least favourite book in this series.

The first two books in this series were okay, but I’m glad I kept reading because I really enjoyed this one!

Cassidy is a beta scientist who has been researching how alphas live in the Boundarylands, and Samson is one of the alphas who she’s gotten to know.

Unlike the earlier books, the story doesn’t start with Cassidy being horrified to discover that she’s an omega, and I like how that changed the dynamic between her and Samson. The plot was far simpler and less dramatic than the earlier books, and but the low angst vibes was a nice change.

I might be in the minority though, based on some of the other reviews!

Thank you, and on to the next banger.

The vibes were vibing with this one - I love an intellectual FMC (and that she stayed connected to the beta world). And a bossy MMC? Sold.

And remaining childless? Good for you girl.

Curious on how this beta/alpha pairing will impact things in the world going forward.

Samson is emotional and sexy but it also has depth as it deals with prejudice and cultural differences. It's where boundaries are tested even in the Boundarylands and what was considered acceptable or possible or natural is turned on its head. And above all, it's where love conquers all.

This was a tricky book for me because Cassidy is a beta and she remains a beta throughout. I was uncertain about reading an alpha and beta pairing and made the mistake of reading a few reviews where people had DNFed the book complaining about the fact that Cassidy never became an omega. But then I remembered another book I read with a beta and alpha pairing and it was fantastic. Probably the best omegaverse book I've read to date. And then I saw Ms Rhodes say something about Cassidy and Samson that made me trust her as an author and the story she was giving us. She said that with Cassidy and Samson, their love transcended nature and that, to me, is beautiful. I went into the book with that thought in mind.

I'm glad I decided to give this book a shot because it's beautiful. The prejudice that both Samson and Cassidy had to overcome was heart-wrenching, and the depth this went to in terms of alpha and beta culture, and even omega culture was intriguing and insightful. It added so much to the omegaverse lore of this particular world that Ms Rhodes is building.

I love Samson. He's always been the most charming and reasonable alpha of all the alphas in the Boundarylands, but also the biggest. He could easily have been the meanest because of his size and power, but instead he's a great guy. That doesn't mean that he should be trifled with though and when challenged, we get to see the reason behind all the respect that Samson gets. I love how determined he is in possessing Cassidy and how sure he is of his feelings for her regardless of her nature. His love for her surpasses nature even if there are some physiological things their love can't overcome. Regardless, they still have a loving and fulfilling relationship.

I was predisposed to liking Cassidy because she knew her place as a beta and she always presented a submissive and respectful front, but underneath all that subservience is an intelligent and ambitious woman who is interested in bringing enlightenment and understanding of the alpha culture to the world so that the inbuilt prejudices of the betas and their conspiracy theories have much less power. I admire the academic in her who is interested in researching and learning more about the world around her and the people who inhabit it. She brings respect and humanity to her research and gives a face and personality to the alphas and omegas of the Boundarylands rather than propagating fear and miscommunication.

I've only read the first three books in this series so far and the results have been mixed but this is by far the best of the lot that I've read, and it's about an alpha and a beta. It just goes to show that it's important to not judge based on some basic information about the book and to trust the author in what she is going to deliver if her books are ones the reader enjoys. Don't let the fact that this is about an alpha and a beta, and not an alpha and omega stop you. It's still an emotional and satisfying read. By the end, you'll be cheering Samson and Cassidy on and wanting them to find they happy ever after even though it's unconventional. Remember, love transcends nature.

Now, onto the next book in the series.

Very good, but short. The good news is, no real cliffhanger. Story continues from each book but with new main characters so each one can stand
individually.
These books are fun easy reads. They are not nearly as dark as most Omega verse books so they’re a good start for people to enter this world.

At this point I kind of just got to finish the series. The amount of grammatical errors, misspellings and then the blatant error of proofreading was a total turn off. I mean I had to reread a sentence a few times because I thought I was seeing it wrong!

Samson has a much slower pace but it’s still short and leaves the reader (me) wanting more. As in some freaking background. With Cassidy being a student researcher you would think that there would be more explanation as to how the two societies work. Other than the Beta’s have everything wrong. They are aggressive jerks. Blah blah blah.

This series has the potential to be awesome. It’s just lacking details.

Generously giving this 2 stars.
To start this off, the content editing/proof-reading was in desperate need on this book. This could have been a better rating just for the mistakes... The flow was a bit slow, even considering all the mistakes having to be stumbled thru. I think these could be read as stand alone books in the series. There really wasn't a world building in the first & second book, and not in this book-to explain what these Alphas are or how the world evolved into these sort of dystopian separated type societies (Betas versus Alphas). Sometimes the Alphas act like cavemen, or animalistic, & they seem to have super strength & speed, but they don't shape-shift, that's about all the info provided. I didn't understand where they came from, are they from an evolutionary process, or alien invasion, or? This really hurt the story, cause I kept trying to sort all this out for it to make sense.

As for the characters, they are flat, which was not helping me like them more. I liked Sampson in this book. I hated Cassidy, she was too self absorbed into her studies of the Alpha society. I also think the author screwed this up by not making her an Omega. I kept hoping it would happen, and was so disappointed that it didn't. Not being an Omega took away from the basic story line, that only the Omegas can be the "all" for the Alphas. I didn't like that there really wasn't a set guideline for the either the Alpha or the Omega in this series, to understand what is normal behavior for them. At this point, the basic story/plot feels a little bit too similar to book 1 & 2, except for little differences between the characters.

I sort of disliked this book, & kind of wish I had quit the book instead of finishing it. I felt it was not pulled together as a polished & finished book. I was curious to see where Maddox's story in the next book is going to go, since he's portrayed as the most violent of the Alphas, so will pick up the next, hoping it's better than this book.

I couldn't even finish, I checked if she was going to turn and I appriciated the thought that their love would transcend the social norms, but it kinda didn't sit right with me that she had to risk her position at the university, at least what I read so far.

Samson was the book I was placing all my bets on when it came to my hopes for this series. Cassidy is there to literally study the alphas. I thought heck yeah we are finally going to get a deep dive into the Alpha history, their background, all about Alphas. I was totally on board ready for the book that would give this entire series its groundbreaking development that I've been longing for for the first couple books. Cassidy even wants this. She wants the beta world to know about Alpha / beta relationships, she wants the world to know how they work... Then (spoiler) Samson drops the bomb and the reality that exploring and exposing such things would be too dangerous. But even the Omega women want their lives to be studied and written about. Cassidy loves this obviously but we don't get any kind of what comes next. I am so bummed. All my excitement is kinda squashed.
I plan on reading the next installment in the series but I won't hold my breath that I'm going to get any of the answers I've been hoping for over the last couple books.

🌷 Overall rating: 4⭐️
I like that in this omegaverse, the omega must first choose to place a mating claim on the alpha before she can be claimed. It gives them some power and prevents forced matings.

In my review of Kian (book 1 in series), I mentioned that I liked him. I have now changed that to: LOVE HIM. I included some highlights of him that I enjoyed in this book.

I liked that Cassidy, being a scientist, wasn’t unaware of alphas and the mating bond like the other 2 FMCs were. But they did have their own set of problems because she’s a beta and he’s an alpha and it is considered “unnatural” for them to be together. I like the pacing and how it was all resolved. I am a bit sad for them concerning that reveal in the end but it fits with everything we know so kudos to the author for not pulling a weird plot twist there. It pushed the book firmly into the 4 star region for me.

Also, I enjoyed the change in pace from the starting-to-be-repetitive sequence of : abused woman meeting alpha ➡️ touch ➡️omega reveal ➡️ heat ➡️ fight ➡️ mate ➡️ OMG he’s actually a good guy despite being an alpha ➡️ to claim him or not ➡️ claimed him ➡️ HEA

While I prefer the alpha/omega pairings, this was a good perspective too.

Samson and Cassidy

While researching the Alphas for her PhD, Cassidy meets the alpha Samson. She’s immediately attracted to him, but since she is definitely a Beta, she knows there is no future for them.
When she is left stranded in the boundarylands, Samson decides to claim her. There Cassidy learns that not everything about Alphas, Betas, and Omegas is as she has been told, and not everything is as simple as they all thought...

This is the third book in the series, and features cameos from the main characters of previous books. The storyline though, is complete and independent of the other books, and can be read as a standalone. The books all contain sex scenes, so readers who don’t like them should avoid the series.

That being said, it’s an enjoyable series. The omegaverse puts alphas on a “back to nature” course, each of them is self sufficient, and although they’re alpha, it doesn’t make the heroine a pushover.
This book, is a little different, because the heroine is not an omega. She’s a confirmed beta (to her own private disappointment), who is intelligent, and has fought for her position in a rather male dominated field. Like the omegas, she is no pushover, and the hero has to woo her. Unlike the omegas, she is rather accepting, immediately, but has to find her own way and position in the boundarylands society.

For those who enjoy their paranormal romance on the sexy side, or who enjoy alpha heroes, this series will be an enjoyable read.

This one was better than the second thats for sure. I liked the plot better too. Cassidy was so easy to understand. Her worries and difficulties. Everything made sense. Its just samson. This fucker couldnt fucking take a simple perspective. LIKE THIS SHIT WAS SO SIMPLE. Cassidy wanted to write a dissertation about them since it hasnt been done before! NO ONE HAS DONE IT IN RECORDS SO IF YOU WRITE ABOUT IT THERE WILL BE MORE PEOPLE AWARE THAT IT IS POSSIBLE AND BETAS CAN DO IT TOO. SO IT WILL HELP THE GENERAL PUBLIC TO UNDERSTAND ALPHAS BETTER AND HOW THEY TOO CAN BE IN RELATIONSHIPS WITH BETAS SINCE OMEGAS ARE SO RARE. how fucking hard is that to comprehend???? like I get it you dont want people to know about your private life but its going to be anonymous??? And it will help your brothers out in the fucking future when it comes to finding their mates?? Like YOU COULDNT GET THAT SHIT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULL?? also Cassidy lost everything and you couldnt be more understanding? She wasted years of her life and her friends and family. And all samson could think about was “well you have me blah blah grunt grunt” fuck off man. Its not that simple. She can make changes in this world that all of the alphas have been wanting and yet hes being all selfish about it. ackkk. Frustrating. 3.25 stars

Samson – The Boundarylands Book 3 – Callie Rhodes

***** SPOILERS *****

An Alpha – Beta Match that was meant to be!

Cassidy – studious researcher and PhD Grad Student. Majoring in Alpha Society and Behaviours

Samson – Biggest, Baddest Alpha in the Boundarylands with a weakness for a special Beta woman that he just can’t shake off.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. In fact, I really liked the social discourse/commentary that happened within these pages. We saw a lot of learned behaviours being challenged by both Alphas and Betas and all of this done whilst the female Omega mates looked on with knowing smiles. I think the main message I took from this story was that we should never judge people on their race or creed by what we think we know. It is a very timely message IMO.

Our couple in this story is Alpha/Beta. The intimate scenes are no less hot and steamy than you would expect from an Alpha/Omega mating - making this an 18+ read.

I am interested to see the progression of this couple’s relationship as their interactions within their community have been accepted far more quickly because of the Omega influences already in the Boundarylands. I gave this one five stars! Off to read book four.

So sweet

Ok first let me start with the amazing part. The connection between Samson and "Dr.Carr". I loved that they found their way together. Such an amazing love.
Ok now the not so great. All main characters were very descriptive on background. I like getting to know the characters so this was nice. However I didn't get Ty's hesitation on helping or just being friendly, because if you've read his book you know he had trials with his own Omega. Plus he's always there for others but was so hesitant on this one.. I didn't get that one. Also the book ends on a cliffhanger, maybe to bring it all to a close in the end? Idk but I usually don't do books that don't conclude, even in a series. This one how it was left was less than ideal. This would not be a book I will follow up on.
Now if you love Aplha males that are devoted. Females that are strong but trying to over what they were brought up believing. This one was very enjoyable until the end. Then give this a go, it is a shorter book/novellla but the characters are strong and have the fire that you want then give it a go!

Interesting Twist

According to what little I have read of the Omegaverse, and especially the laws of this particular one, the Alphas can only mate with an omega, which are incredibly rare. But here Samson is very attracted to Cassidy, a beta. They have a very professional relationship as she is studying everything about the Alphas and their world for her Ph.D., but underneath there is a simmering attraction. I love their banter and how they are when they are together. Will their attraction be able to turn into more? What will happen to each of them and their community when they try to deduct the law? Will they be able to figure it out, or will it be a fling like many Alpha's and Beta's have?

I am truly enjoying the series, and watching the previous characters return in each story and see how they are doing, is definitely a plus.

Omg! Wait. I was ACTUALLY LOOKING FOR THIS KIND OF BOOK!
I had read one of Liliana Carlisle's book where an Alpha and Beta are attracted to eachother but the impending inevitability of the Alpha finding his Omega was a major angst point between the characters. And Omg I SOO WANTED and ROOTED for them to fuck it all and choose their love. And that's what the alpha did in the end but guess what...she was discovered as a late presenting Omega. I was SOOO DISAPPOINTED. I wanted to see a diversion from the conventional Alpha Omega plot and see Alpha Beta love win over all odds and the "love conquers biology" kind of thing. It felt like ultimately they loved eachother only because their biology permited them and apart from that they wouldn't have been together.

So when I read the blurb of this book I couldn't help myself. I m gonna devour this book now.
