What’s worse than having untamed magic? Not having any magic. My magic is broken after being attacked by the magic thief. And I need it back fast, before she tries again.
I’ll do anything to get it back - including private tutoring with a crazy professor and private time with the sexy billionaire twins - and their mother. FML.
Oh yeah, and according to my parole officer, if I ever do get my magic back and alter time, I’m done for. No pressure. And I have to do it all without getting distracted by the sexy wolf shifter during a full Yule moon and a hot as hell incubus determined to get out of my dreams and into my pants.
Alexis Calder writes sassy heroines and sexy heroes with a sprinkle of sarcasm. She lives in the Rockies and drinks far too much coffee and just the right amount of wine.
The first book in this series was everything I wanted at the time and more, but for some reason the second book grabbed me less and I'm still trying to determine if it's because of me (very well possible. I might have read a few too many books like this recently and I might be in need of a change of scenery) or because of the book.
Let's start with the lots of positive things. The book is fast paced and continues literally where the previous book stopped. I always like that, especially because I have quite a good memory so I don't need summaries or "remember this" info drops in books. It also has a really nice and easy to read writing style. It made the book a nice and quick read.
Apart from that I also really like the characters. Raven is a very realistic girl and easy to identify with. She's not doing anything too stupid, she asks the right questions and she doubts who she can trust and who she can't trust. There's no stupid just for the sake of drama and she does know she's new in this world and needs people to help her and answer her question. The four boys are also all very likeable, without being mushy. The relationships feel healthy and apart from the mating bond we can also understand why Raven likes them.
But, there are also times the book feels a little unfocussed. It's hard to explain, but I felt like this book tried to combine a lot of different elements and therefore not all elements really got the chance to shine. For example: From what I understand there's a really nice, complex and interesting political world out there. We only get mentions of it and we don't get to see much about it (I'd have loved a Ben POV when he was talking to his dad about Raven and Luka). And although the memory thief is always present, the finale doesn't get a real build up and at some point just happens.
I'm really curious about the third book though! And I have all fingers and toes crossed for more interaction and action with the twins and for maybe getting to see more of the politics, because that part totally peaked my interest!
The series was free in my audiobook subscription. And I often saw books of this author but never read one. So I gave it a try. I rated all four books of the series with three stars. I read more exciting series, but this one was okay, and I could do other stuff, while listening to this series.
This book makes a splash with its unique storyline that and likable characters that draw you in. This book picks up around where the first one left off and a few surprises are planted throughout the book. A lot of relationship development happened in this book definitely living up to a medium burn reverse harem book. A lot is coming our way in the next book, hopefully some answers to the questions burning in our minds and in Raven’s too. Can’t wait for the next one!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I don't think the author captured Raven's loss of magic very well. It was as if it hardly bothered her. The ending again felt rushed. I still like Luca, dislike Ben and think the twins are cool.
I really enjoyed this book. I found it better than the first book as we got a bit more background info. Things between Raven and Luka and Raven and Ben are heating up, things are a bit tense when they find out about each other but they decide to put their differences aside for Raven. The magic thief has finally been caught but Raven used her forbidden time magic to save her friend Makayla who was being held at kn*fe point by the magic thief. Her parole officer tries to charge Raven with using her forbidden magic but Matt steps up and tells the parole officer that it wasn’t Raven that used the magic it was him since Raven, him and his twin Zach melded their magic together it means they can tap into each other’s magic. Matt just gets parole but it goes on his permanent record but Raven would go to prison. I’m looking forward to seeing what dangers Raven and her guys face now that the time thief has been taken care of. I’d recommend this book, series and author to everyone.
This is book 2 in this paranormal reverse harem series and wow! As a new to magic and the magic world mage, Raven is fighting against more than she knows. It's a good thing she's got 4 sexy, smart and funny men in her corner as well as some unexpected friends. Character development continues well and the storyline progresses smoothly (with some twists and turns added to keep Raven and her friends and allies on their toes). Can't wait to see what waits for Raven, Luka, Ben, Matt and Zach in book 3.
This book picked up right where Untamed Magic left off. The time thief stole Raven’s magic. Not only her’s but Ben’s too. Now they have to find a way to get it back. She didn’t even know she had magic just a short time ago, now she can’t believe how much she misses it. So she’s working with one of the professors on this, and Ben is avoiding her. At least she still has Luka. Even the twins are gone, having been called home for a family emergency.
Still waiting for the mean girl action, but no such luck. There is a very short conversation between Raven and one of the mean girls. She leads Raven to believe that she slept with Zach, but who knows if that’s the truth. I thought there would be a little more here but there’s not. Booo!
I enjoyed this book as much as I did the first one. I really like the heroine, Raven. She’s tough, but vulnerable at the same time. The only times got irritated with her is when she didn’t come clean with both Ben and Luka about her bond with both of them - they deserved the truth; and when she got jealous because Zach apparently slept with another girl and both twins were dancing with other mages at the yule ball. That’s one of the issues I have with RH stories. I can’t believe that there isn’t more jealousy between all the partners. Personally, I’d like to read a story where one of the potential partners decides against it. Although in this case, I think she has no business being jealous. Even she admitted it. She’s sleeping with 2 other men right now. Zach and Matt can dance, or sleep, with whomever they please.
It was interesting to find out more about magic in general. Although I think we need to start getting more information about Raven’s background, her parents and what really happened to them. Although, the pacing still seems ok to me, I would like to see the overarching storyline pick up a bit. I do recommend the series.
The story line is really good, but there were so many errors that should have been caught during the editing. Things were said earlier in the book and then later said again as if it was the first time revealing the information. Happened a few times and it’s really distracting because we already have the information and then it’s introduced again as something new.
There were a few conversations with Prof. Halifax that revealed some things, but Raven seemed to glaze over the revelations which should have been vital information to her. But later in the book, another nod to some of the first information would be divulged again and Raven would only pick up on some of it.
The way this is written, Raven has a hard time putting two and two together. Just as in my last review, I feel like Raven is doing any research or study on magic outside of what’s taught in the classroom unless it was pertaining the the magic thief. She hasn’t tried to learn anything about her parents, despite gleaming a little more about their position in the magical world. Is her last name even really Winters?
Despite how far her relationships have gotten with the boys (no spoilers 😉), she still hasn’t looked up anything about mates and mating, nor mages in general. Her classes do not seem to be species specific so she’s likely just getting general information. She hasn’t tried to find out anything about her, or any other, species’ characteristics. She has a long way to go for me, especially after being introduced to us as a grown, independent 21 year old that had to grow up fast. She’s not showing any attributes of being a grown responsible person. I mean, she does seem mature most times, but that’s about it.
Anyway, I hope the writing gets better, the storyline is a good one. Happy reading!
Ugh I'm not even through with the book and I have to already go on record and repeat that I hate the fmc. She's written like a highschooler who seems to live with their head in the clouds never acknowledging what's happening around her. She'd rather live like nothings different and that she's literally the center of the universe. I hope this fmc grows throughout the series because I'm loving the plot and the story but she's really bringing it down for me....
I've finished and I like the way the stories moving but at the same time I don't. Idk I'll be continuing on just cuz of the guys and the relationship ...
*****SPOILER ALERT BELOW******
Like come on now, she's literally about got attacked by the badguy and told not to go to a party and she literally dismisses that saying she's scrëwed anyways so might as well have fun, not even freaking contemplating she could be putting others at risk. Not that anything happened but still its the thought that she should have thought something could happen...

This book was so exciting, it was such a fun, and spicy, read! I really loved getting to know so much more about all of the characters! It was nice to get more of the backstory of each of the four MMC’s, especially about their families and their relationships in the paranormal world. Gaining that knowledge really expanded the world in which this book takes place and it explains a lot about the characters. I love Luka and Ben so far, and while we’ve learned a little bit about the twins Matt and Zach, I’m excited to learn more about them! I’m loving seeing Raven grow into her powers too, and I can’t wait to see what else is in store for her! I also have to say, the spice was spicer in this book, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book so, it gets a 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! I would also say it gets a 3/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️ on the spice scale!
I’m at odds with this book. I still love the story but I’m not into all of it. I have read and loved multiple love interest books but something in this one just didn’t fit with me. I wish that the relationships had more than sex and saving the girl. Honestly, Raven is a badass and can save herself. I’m excited to see where her magic will take her. But I want her to also stand alone and be strong. Because you can be both.
The writing is good and I will look at other stories by Alexis but at the moment I think I will not continue with Raven story as I’m not 100% convinced I need to continue. But the question of what Raven truly is may mean I revisit the series just to answer that very question

It’s not a bad series and I’m really glad she’s 21 I hate when writers make the lead character 17/18.
Her bond with the wolf shifter has snapped into place and she’s also with the sex demon (the shower scene was fun & spicy) We’re still waiting for her to act on her bond to the twins.
The bad guys who killed her parents and they caught in the first book just to get away then they had to come up against her again in the end of this book was very anticlimactic. Also now there might be more to the story with her fae teacher can she truly trust her?
I don’t know it’s an ok series I’m just kinda bored so I’m probably not going to continue with it.
She died way too easy and why did she call the professor a traitor? Is it because she was also fae? Or is it because they were working together? She did say that her people were always mistreated..if they gathered enough power they could take over the system and get revenge.
Raven is in way over her head two mates so far and most likely two more to come.
Although did she even cement her bond with Luka? I can’t remember.
Also why did the twins take the fall for her?? Yea their family is influential but could they really keep him out of prison? Wouldn’t this harm their reputation?
I have so many questions…

This story just keeps getting better. More fun and more friends and more love interests for Raven. But also more danger and higher stakes if she messes up at all. Thankfully, those new friends and a couple trusted teachers are helping Raven. Ore than she could ever have hoped or believe. But there have been some pretty big surprises too...like her benefactor and her love interests’ parents. But she’s still on thin ice, and now one of her guys is too. The next book is sure to be fantastic!
DNFFFFFFFFF... I really wanted to finish this book. It wasn’t long and I did want to know why someone was trying to kill Raven. Oh, how naive I was. This is a 4 book series!! My questions were not answered. Not that any were added either, there was just a whole lot of sitting around and chatting. All I really learned is that I think Raven is an awful person. Oooh, but I do like Zack! And ofcourse he won’t be the one Raven chooses. He is NICE. But when you have the ‘bad boy’ why would you want the cute BAJILLIONAIRE.
The most unrealistic bit is that a girl who uses shampoo as body wash, lathered by hand, has all the powerful supernatural boys absolutely frothing at the mouth to put theirs on her. How are you gonna have a harem without hygiene? Or even basic knowledge of a body’s capabilities and necessary preparation before doing a certain act for the first time, irresponsibly breeching a place no man has gone before and for good reason? Prep and verbal consent, at the very least, that was deemed unnecessary by the incubus, of all people? Get this girl a loofah and some lube! My goodness.
This series is going from strength to strength with a nice build on the storyline in Broken Magic and the friendships and romances from that first story. The plot has a really good flow, and the sexy stuff is well woven within. I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book. The narrators, Chris Chambers , Stephanie Rose once again delivered a sterling performance with easily recognised characters and the perfect amount of intensity throughout.
The narrator was a bit choppy and that made it hard to get through.
I love academy stories and this one wasn't any different. Love triangles or rectangle? Jealousy and having to figure out a new norm. Putting up with adults who expect things from you without your say, but also adults who have your back. I remember girl boy sleepovers, but I can't remember if more than kissing happens. Currently, there have been group love. 16+
I have to be honest, this one was lacking for me. I’m gonna read the next in the series, but I wish there’d been more relationship building and that the problems hadn’t been so incredibly easy to resolve. I’m not mad I read it and, as I said, I’ll continue with the series, but I’ll keep in mind that it won’t have much depth
The story continues. After the happening in the first book the heroine has to get her magic back. She also juggles the different constellations of boy friends and prepares for the finals. In the back lurks the magic thief. We learn a lot more about the magic society. As the first book this is funny entertaining popcorn adventure.
This series just keeps getting better. Lots of action and mysteries to be solved, not to mention even more spice.
I am really enjoying getting to know Raven, Luka, Ben, Matt and Zach. The side characters like Mckayla and Violet are great as well. I'm looking forward to finding out more about Raven's past and seeing where her mate bonds take her!
I get to live out my fantasy through your book. I’ve always wanted to have 2 bf that cater to me and don’t mind sharing cause they love me and I love them. Alas, I’m yet to find it but your book gives me hope. Thank you for being you!!!!
Things are shifting in this book. She's got her mates but there is still so much more to the story that I'm actually not sure how it's going to move forward. That's what is super exciting ! Can't wait to see what happens next!
The book is so much like the Harry Potter books but with an adult twist. I really don't think all the sex adds much to the story, it just makes it awkward. Definitely don't listen to this one on an e-book.
Raven is dealt a lot of hands in this book! There's so much action going on it's incredible the wayt Alexis was able to put the entire book together seemlessly where it flows so perfectly together! I cant wait to start on the next book to see what happens next
I like alot about this series. The writing is still really good. There were some slow parts and I don't really get why the bond with the twins is pretty much disregarded but whatever
This was a really great, fast paced read. Delving more into the characters back stories always ups the tempo. Learning the hierarchy of the families is important.
Finished this book in one day! Didn’t want to put it down and so glad I didn’t!! So many questions answered in this book but still so many left unanswered. Glad there were some steamy scenes in this book and looking forward to more heated scenes as she gets closer with her mates.
