It's London in the late 1930s, and the Second World War is imminent. Molly's beloved dog Bertie is now considered 'surplus to requirement'. Molly runs away and when she comes across two other runaways that she starts to feel safe again. Maybe, just maybe, with each other's help, they have a chance of overcoming the trials put in front of them.

I personally didn't enjoy it . It was quite boring and I was not happy reading it. I couldn't get into the book. It was a sad but good ending, that was the only thing I liked about it 😕.
Read this to my 9 year old. Good historical detail and lots of twists and turns in Molly’s journey. Reminded me of Goodnight Mister Tom. The structure felt a bit rambling though, without clear marker points and Molly doesn’t really change. The ending is quite abrupt.
The book was incredibly dull. I dnf’d about 100 pages in and I want my time back. The worst part is my problem with this book wasn’t anything to do with the “war aspects” (I guess you could call them that) it was the way it was written. Nice concept but badly executed.
It was not a bad book. I quite enjoyed it. The ending was soo sad but I hope that they looked into it more rather than just past it like it's a small thing. Not only that, this book is too good to be true during a time of war everything is scary risky, and crucial but in the book, most things go well at a certain point and nothing that dangerous. Long story short, i quite enjoyed the book and would recommend it to everyone,
An interesting book looking at children in World War II. Some of it felt a little far fetched and Molly, while generally a likeable character, reacts in some strange ways to events unfolding around her so I didn’t warm to her as much as I thought I would, particularly at the end. A good adventure and evocation of life during the war.
Great book! 4.999... stars. I loved the fact that Molly's mother didn't allow her to be evacuated. The ending is quite sudden and that's the only bit I don't quite luck.
A Lovely story set in the war some very sad parts though but thoroughly enjoyed this book This is the 2nd time i have read this book and still enjoyed it 2nd time round Re read again and still enjoyed it
