It's Christmas, and there's been another murder. Rachel Harroway, a homicide detective gifted in the arts and communication with the dead, tracks a serial killer lurking in the shadows for the last twenty-five years. The closer Rachel gets to solving the mystery, the more the unforgiving Appalachian winter weather and supernatural energies push back, forcing Rachel to decide how far she'll go for a man society has forsaken.
This installment of the Rachel Harroway series was definitely very suspenseful. Until now, Rachel has been dealing with only a few Orphans. Now, however, she must avenge more than a dozen! I loved all the surprises of the story and the character development. I was also excited when Rachel finds out that she’s not the only one with the Gift.
I'm reading these on my Kindle, so on to the next book!
I became bored by the excessive violence, endless lack of following common sense much less law enforcement basics such as never going into dangerous situations without backup. Rachel seems to prefer lone wolf tactics that get herself into unnecessary and pointless danger. Is it ego or lack of understanding? You decide.
Good stories lines. A little repetitive on some things, kind of skipped over them after awhile. Some typos and such. All in all, I have been enjoying them.
I'm really enjoying this series! I love seen how the main character is coming more into her gift, and the introduction of someone else who has it as well. I look forward to seeing how the story continues to play out!
Great series. Highly recommended. Absolutely love this series. I am a huge fan of ghostly tales. I also believe. Never experience it but I still believe. Can't wait to read the next book. Love that Rachel have someone to share and love..... 💗💗💗💗💗💗
Well before I immensely enjoyed reading the story. The characters are well-rounded and Are down to earth. It could be your next door neighbor Just like the killers in this look. Watch out there is a Surprise and every end
Great book. Spellbinding. But so many things were wrong in your descriptions of highlands I had a hard time reading it while arguing over directions to and from highlands, all the mom and pop restaurants that are not allowed there by the rich and not so famous. Street names were accurate mostly but that's about it. Again, loved the story.
This book is exciting from the start. Rachel has the gift of seeing souls that linger until their killer is brought to justice, orphans she calls them. From the atart, this book gives you thrills and chills as you go with her to find the killers and bring justice to those who can no longer speak. I could not put this down.

Another roller coaster ride from J.S Donovan! I always fancied walking the splendor of Appalachia but after this I think I should stay clear!! Rachel is still being pulled apart and abused by her Gift. But her fellow cops are starting to wonder. A well written story line that will grab you by the gut.

I thot this book was fantastic. Rachel needed a friend of the soul and Mallory was perfect. She is quite the feisty little girl and will make this next book .more interesting
I read this book in one day, the bulk of which in one sitting. I love these characters. I have quite a few questions, and I sincerely hope there is more to come!!
An amazing take of one woman's sacrifice to help others, despite the consequences. At the same time she is fighting criminals, solving murders and mysteries.
