My entire life savings went into starting the fertility clinic in our fine town of Auburn Hill, aka Hell.

Everything was going great until the Mayor built the city jail right next door.

Now I’ve got recently released men with questionable life choices filling up my clinic with their hand out, looking to make a deposit to score a handful of money on their way out of town.

When the highly irritating warden of the jail doesn’t step up to help redirect his former inmates, I resort to blackmailing the tall, dark, and handsome jerk. He doesn’t take kindly to it. I don’t take kindly to the way he pushed me up against the door and kissed me just to shut me up.

If I were you, I wouldn’t bank on any love between the neighbors here in Hell.

So Lucille is "36" and a virgin running a fertility clinic or, as she calls it, a "spank bank". I should have quit there. Mid thirties is way, waaaay to old if you want your heroine doing stupid crap that would never in a million years do anything like what she wants it to do. And that's before all the stumbling, falling, and dropping things happens. Woman, if you can't stay upright in high heals, then wearing them to work every day is not a plan for you. Of course, if she really wore them to work every day, it wouldn't be a problem. So yeah.

Also, Bain is an immature douche with a constant eye out for his next score. He's very catholic about it, so at least there's that. If non-discrimination is a virtue (I suspect the author believes it is, so we'll roll with that) then at least he has one.

So yeah, bailing early and with one star that it likely deserves.

Love Bank: An Enemies to Lovers RomCom

Lucille: Blackmailing the new prison warden probably wasn’t a good idea, but to be fair, the goat made me do it. Or maybe it was that beady-eyed seagull. Either way, he’s madder than a hornet’s nest, which is why I shouldn’t be propositioning him on top of blackmail. Our relationship is all kinds of wrong, but I don’t want to be right any more.

Bain: She’s got a stick so far up her ass she could hang her turtleneck on it. The stuffy lady with her nose in the air shouldn’t interest me in the slightest…yet she does. Maybe it’s the way she talks to animals, or shoos away the incessant seagulls like a possessed woman, or aggravates me on purpose at every turn. All I know is if she’d quit blackmailing me, we could have some fun together.

Now Live in KU smarturl.it/LoveBank

READ A STEAMY EXCERPT FROM LOVE BANK

As I stalked after her, I glanced down at the flyer, doing a double take when I saw the picture right smack dab in the center of the piece of paper.

“Come donate to the Coastal Fertility Bank” in all capital letters, centered over a picture of a specimen cup. But upon closer scrutiny, it wasn’t just any specimen cup. It was my specimen cup. With my goddamn name on it for all the world to see.

My feet halted their movement. Every single cell in my body flared to life with a stress signal. A state of emergency was declared inside my body, flooding my vision with a bright haze of red. My fingers tingled.

I was going to kill her.

The paper started to shake. Right before I crumpled it into my fist and tossed it to the ground. I looked up at her over by the door, seeing an entire ream of papers in her hand, all printed with my specimen cup front and center.

She cocked a hip, and even with a level of anger I hadn’t felt in a very long time pulsing through my body, I noticed. I noted every little thing about her from her stiletto heels to the hair on her head that was finally down and so luscious I wanted to grab hold of it and tug.

Hard.

“Oops. It’s pretty fuzzy. I’m sure people won’t be able to make out your name. Besides, I only put them up on a few poles on Brinestone Way so far.”

She wrinkled her pretty little nose and I took a step toward her. Then another. She’d already put them up?

Her eyes widened a fraction, seeing me advance on her. She waved the flyers around confidently, like she still had the upper hand. And fuck it all to hell, she did.

I didn’t like that. Not one bit.

Another step closer and some of that confidence faded.

“What are you doing?” Her voice hitched in the middle.

Another step and she backed up quickly.

One final step to put me toe to toe with her and she reared her head back, eyes wary, cheeks flushed. Her back pressed against my closed door and she couldn’t run. The devil in me, the one she’d backed into a corner with her blackmailing schemes, stood up and announced himself the winner of this situation. All I had to do was show her I wouldn’t be messed with.

“This.”

I did what every hot-blooded male does when they’re so mad at a woman they can’t see straight.

I indulged in revenge.

Hold up… the FMC is a 36 yo VIRGIN? Say what?

Hold up… the MMC describes the FMC as physically ugly.

Hold your horses…. grown as 30 something yo men daring each other, and not just any dare… SAF dares like go give a sperm bank a sample. Who is still double dog daring at 30, and wtf kinda dare is spanking it for a sperm bank?

Hold up… the FMC is going to break patient confidentiality HIPPA laws over ONE released prisoner coming into her business? AND, she sends an email to the MMC, who’s in law enforcement, expressly telling him this. Can you say TSTL?

Hold up… this is is book one, but the goat challenge is written like I’m supposed to know WTF the author is talking about. I don’t.

Wait a minute… the MMC is working at least 12 hours a day, hasn’t done laundry, and pulls dirty, wrinkled pants out the dirty clothes to wear for another at least 12 hour day? Uhm, eww.

Uhm, a prisoner just meanders out the back door of a prison and the warden isn’t told until the next day. Wtf kinda circus is this? Oh, and the warden (MMC) zip ties a prisoner’s cell closed. That only violates a hundred different fire codes and shit.

All of the above ^^^^ and I haven’t laughed a single time by 23% of the book. Nothing is happening. Nothing. There is zero plot here. I’m 1/4 in, and the MCs have briefly talked once. No chemistry… actually the opposite since he sees her as unattractive all around.

Horrible characters meets an empty hold where a storyline is supposed to be. I’d rather be eating oatmeal while I watch beige paint dry and listen to NKOTB on repeat. I normally don’t say this because we all have our own reading tastes, dislikes, and likes, but I can’t fathom the reader who’d read this shit and find it mediocre, much less a 5-star read.

Have I ever mentioned how much I love Marika Ray? Because I SERIOUSLY love Marika Ray. Her books never fail in filling me up with joy. Having a bad day? Marika Ray’s writing will fix it. Feeling down? Marika Ray’s writing will fix it. Just need to escape into something that will make you smile and laugh? You guessed it, Marika Ray. Every book is like a brand new adventure in laughter, love and friendship and Love Bank has all that in spades.
I was cracking up at Lucille and Bain’s little war (that’s right, enemies to lovers y’all!) it was both hilarious and honestly, pretty dang brilliant the jabs they took at each other. And don’t even get me started on the residents of Auburn Hill, AKA Hell. Every new face I met was better than the next.
And can we just talk about the sisterhood in this book? One of my absolute favorite things about Marika’s writing is the strong sense of women supporting women in every book. Where this could have easily gone the route of mean girls vs shy “nerd” it was the total opposite. Taking her back, being true supportive friends. Absolute beauty.
Of course there’s no shortage of swoon here either. Bain and Lucille have scorching hot chemistry that ramps up until it explodes into some magnificent heat. Hand in hand with that heat was a sweetness that really made me fall completely in love with this couple. Every tiny detail of their story comes together creating a super fun, hilarious and adorable romance I couldn’t get enough of.

Well then.
Colour me surprised.
This book did not suck, and I did not hate it.

I should have prefaced this by saying that this wasn't a typical read for me. I go for the heavier, angsty type books and am not much of a cutesy, rom-com fan. But these days the suck factor inches ever higher in the types of books I gravitate towards, so contingencies must be made. I stumbled over this wee book whilst searching for something to interest me, and it spoke to me. I'd never heard of the writer before and trying a new writer out can be risky, but I'm a firm believer in the right to DNF, which I frequently exercise. But not only did I not DNF, I didn't skim, either. Not even the sex scenes.

For a sweet, funny book this was kinda naughty - and I liked it. Why? Because I genuinely liked the writing and the characters. I mean, the book wasn't particularly complex. A bit of suspension of belief was necessary here and there and I'm not sure a few things were likely or possibly even legal. But here's the thing, the book wasn't trying to be something it wasn't. The writer obviously meant the tongue-in-cheek feel to a lot of the situations and wasn't taking herself too seriously. And I liked that, too. The characters were real and had depth and the writer has the ability to make you actually see them through their POV's.

I was mildly surprised when I clocked that Lucy was 6 years older than Bain, but it never really came up between them and that was kinda awesome. They balanced one another perfectly. Perhaps most surprising was how many times I chuckled at the two of them, or the humour surrounding certain scenes. And yeah, Lucy was a 36-yo virgin and Bain was a 30-yo commitment-phobe, but there was no doormat/manslut stuff and no cheating.

It's cute, it's funny, it's sweet - it's definitely not 'clean' - and I recommend it. I'm even up for the next one, but it will be some months yet.

One minor quibble - not feeling the cover. The lad is an accurate representation of Bain, but that lass looks about 12.

Bain seems to get horny over the weird things he sees his woman do, "I’ve had a problem brewing in my pants ever since I saw you try to stare down a seagull." Lucy tends to ramble when nervous, “sure about your boxers? Well, no, but I’m fairly sure they’re not big enough to accommodate—” I liked this book, I liked Bain.

I love Lucy....and Bain! Bain is a hot warden and Lucy is a nurse practitioner running a fertility clinic. There’s lots of witty banter, shenanigans and steamy scenes. One of my favorite moments in the book was Lucy finding her tribe and herself....gotta love girlfriends! Marika Ray has a lot of strong characters in this book who hopefully will have their own stories some day. 5Stars!

Loved this!!

This steamy, enemies to lovers RomCom was hilarious and sexy and FUN. It had me smiling and laughing and swooning!

The characters were lovable, the sexual tension delicious, and the shenanigans highly entertaining.

Bain is a sexy AF warden who doesn’t want to be attracted to the uptight, long wool skirt-wearing, fertility clinic owner Lucille. He tries hard not to be. But the chemistry can’t be denied. I loved these two together! She’s quirky, he’s bossy. The tension, the irritation, the banter...so much fun!

From cumshots to aggressive sea gulls to gossiping mail ladies to magical goats to old scraggly cats named Ethel, this story had me turning the pages and enjoying every single word.

This was my first book by this author and I can’t wait to read more!!

I was SUPER lucky to be a Beta reader for this book. I cannot WAIT for it to be released into the world!

I especially loved this book, because I saw my husband in the hero and myself in the heroine. Grumpy/bossy and quirky/picky. SO us! And Lucy's level of awkward when nervous rivaled mine.

Love Bank is over-the-top funny, which is RIGHT up my alley. As usual, Marika makes up the most hilarious nicknames, and her humor took me by surprise and had me snort-laughing MANY times.

Let's talk about the hilarious use of animals in this book, too. Goats, seagulls, cats... Amazing. Ever been challenged by a goat? It may spur your own romantic comedy!

The secondary characters are AMAZING, and I can only hope we're set up for all of their stories, as well. Both the men and women are hilarious!

And, as usual, there's a twist I never saw coming. I don't know how Marika adds these unexpected twists in her rom-coms, but I certainly appreciate them!

If you love strong heroes and heroines, enemies-to-lovers, ridiculous antics, the best of best friends, and over-the-top Pippa Grant-esque humor, this book is for you!!!

"He dropped his weight onto me. Hhis fully naked body on top of mine felt like that first bite of chocolate after a long day. I couldn't really breathe, but that didn't seem important."

I was curious after reading the blurb for this book, thinking that it looked hilarious and I am always down for a good enemies to lovers book to read. Well, let me tell you, reading Love Bank was even better than I thought it was going to be! It was heartwarming, funny, and just downright freaking good!

Marika Ray has a way with words that captures your attention, whether it was through playful banter, serious moments, hilarious moments, or super steamy moments, I was 100% invested in this book. If there really is a town like Hell, I would 100% want to move there- it sounds great especially if there are super hot guys there like the Warden!

All in all, if you have not been able to tell, I recommend you checking out Love Bank ASAP! The humor is spot on, the relationships are organic, and I LOVE Lucy!!!! This character is one that stole my heart from the very beginning and didn't want to give it back! 5 stars from me and wanting the 2nd book in the series ASAP!

PS: A HUGE thank you to Marika Ray and Give Me Books PR for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly!

No words. I have none. I don’t have the foggiest notion of what to say about this book. I could say it’s funny, but that’s damning it with faint praise. I laughed so hard my ribs still hurt. I could say it’s cute or sweet or adorable, but again, none of those come close to covering what this story is. In some ways, this book makes me think of a small-town Hatfields and McCoys version of Romeo and Juliet. Lucy and all her social awkwardness is my new hero. She didn’t let anything stop her – not even good sense on occasion. Bain came awfully close to pushing this into ‘bully romance’ territory. Thankfully he has a lightness, a playfulness, of spirit that kept it from going quite that dark. This story is silly and sweet and some of the best time I’ve spent reading.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.

I Love Lucy!

I absolutely loved Love Bank! Lucille and Bain kept me in stitches with their antics from the very first time she laid eyes on him. Their chemistry was off the charts. Lucille reminded me of myself as a child. I loved to see her grow in confidence as she grew in her relationship with Bain. I really enjoyed seeing Bain's playful side.

I hated the mayor and Addi (who wouldn't?). I hope Jayden gets his own story in the near future.

This story brightened my week!!! It’s refreshing, unique and laugh out loud funny. Bain and Lucille are a match made in heaven and their hatred for one another makes this story hotter. From start to finish you won’t be able to put this down. Love the stories this author puts together and cannot wait for the next in this series.

Lucille's opened up a fertility clinic (aka spank bank) in Auburn Hill (otherwise known as Hell), and her life is looking up. Oh sure, she's still a virgin, but everything else is great. Until the prison next door's inmates keep coming to her place of business and one tries to rob her. What should a woman do? In this case, she decides to blackmail Bain, the prison warden, and their lives are never the same after.

I love Love Bank! It hits the perfect note, blending witty, funny dialogue with as deep an emotional connection as the physical. Add in the spectacular cast of Lucille and Bain and all the crazy, well-meaning friends who surround our couple. This is really the very best kind of romantic comedy.

OH MY FERTILITY CLINIC/JAIL HELL! Love Bank was the best romcom that I've read lately, and I NEED MORE! Lucy is a nurse practitioner running a fertility clinic, when the mayor saw fit to build the jail right next door to it. OMG this makes this story so hilarious with what follows. Bain is the Warden, and he's super hot, though at times, a bit of a pain for Lucy. She decides it's in her best interest in attempting to blackmail the hot warden, and I'm already laughing hard again just thinking about it. There are so many shenanigans after this that my sides hurt from the hysterical laughter. I really want to go page by page to tell everyone what's happening, but I won't, and frankly, my kitty has heard it all now which helped. There's a ton of chemistry to add to the fun between these two, and it won't be denied. Then, there's the cast of secondaries, who only added more fun goodness to the situation, and I really want Lucy's friends to be mine in real life. Anyway, I could go on & on all day, but really it's just better that everyone experience it for themselves so hit your one click button immediately & let the fun begin! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

This was a cute romance with twists, angles and surprises. Imagine a 38 year old virgin who's the owner of a sperm/spank bank. Some things you just can't make up. Lucille has seen lots of male parts and acquired lots of deposit for her clinic but it's all been clinical to her. Her life's never the same after she accidentally walks in on a client leaving a 'deposit'. Thankfully he doesn't realize she's there. He ends up being the new guy in town and is the warden at the prison next door to her clinic. When they meet, they're like oil and water. But you know what they say, opposites attract. Lots of drama, some anguish, plenty of interaction with the local sheriff, a robbery, a makeover, a woman out of nowhere who claims she's pregnant, missing sperm samples, a mother who hates men and so much more. A good read and Lucille/Lucy were so perfect for each other and their chemistry was off the charts. Likable characters and a fun read.

Lucille has left her stressful career in the past and has put her heart and soul into the sperm bank that she has opened. What she didn’t need was to have the prison as her neighbor or for its inhabitants to become frequent visitors. She is determined to put an end to it even if it means persuading the Warden to help out by using some personal information as leverage.

When Bain was offered the position at the prison it was the career move that he was looking for. He wasn’t expecting his neighbor to require his help or that he would be attracted to the mass of contradictions that this feisty yet conservative woman was.

What a fun story this turned out to be as it manages to combine heat, humor and a great group of secondary characters into an entertaining story.

* First time reading author

Wow, I LOVED this story. This is the first time reading Marika Ray but it will not be the last. Love Bank brings two people together that are funny, borderline crazy, chemistry off the hook, and just good family feeling. Even though Lucy and Bain feel like they may be on the opposite side of everything. They argue and makeup and find themselves in hilarious situations that just keep you wanting to read this story. I loved every character in this book.

I am excited to see what happens in the next book.

I love Lucy. She is such a breath of fresh air. I love that she loses her filter. I love that she gains her courage to go for it in her private like she has always done in her professional life. I love the side characters. I love that Lucy and Bain have such a fun feud. Bain, wow, just Bain. He is strong and fun and turns to such a loving pile of mush that you can not help falling for him. This is a very fun, sexy and loving story. I finished it in one sitting losing a few hours of sleep but is it so worth it. Thanks to the author for an ARC.

I have seriously fallen in love with Marika Ray! If you want real, you want comedy and everyday life read her books. Love Bank is the first in this series and it had me laughing from the first page. I’m from a small town so the rumor mill and nosiness was spot on.

That was different.

It gave me lots of laughs. The storyline was a bit out there but hey it could happen. A 36 year old virgin. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Miss Ray has been on my radar for awhile now but I’ve always put it off. So this was my first book by this author. I can’t wait to read more of her books. The laughs were great and I needed them right now. *This book was available on Kindle Unlimited at the time of my review*

This was fun. Was it a little over the top at times? Absolutely. However, I ignored that and enjoyed the antics of these characters.

There were a few areas that I did wish had been explained (Jizz thief being one ). Perhaps they will at a different time.

This was such an enjoyable read. I thought that this book had a very fresh feeling to it. After all, how many books have you read that feature a blossoming romance between a sperm bank owner and a prison warden? You can expect lots of laugh-out-loud moments, zany situations, drama, emotions and small own charm from this book. I thought that the main characters were great. Plenty of sparks and witty banner are flying around as Lucille and Bain's relationship evolves from battling enemies to passionate lovers. An intriguing cast of secondary characters will have you eagerly anticipating more entries in this series. Add in a bevy of animal antics that are like adding whipped cream to your cocoa. It might not be necessary but it makes it better anyway, right? This is my sincere review that I am posting of my own volition.
