Mrs. Amelia Sartin helms her late husband’s business and implicitly trusts her secretary, Matthew Bellamy. Occasionally, she indulges her desires, but only if the gentleman poses no risk to her heart. However, as Amelia cedes control of the company to her heir, Bellamy finally persuades Amelia to act on their mutual, forbidden passion. Can Bellamy also convince her he is the one thing she cannot leave behind?
**This novella previously appeared in the "Second Chance Love: A Regency Romance Set" anthology**
Wendy writes Historical Romance with a touch of intrigue & suspense. Her debut series, a trilogy about three Ladies who refuse to play by society's rules, was released by Entangled Scandalous in 2015. Her first indie, Her Duke at Daybreak, finaled in Romance Writers of America®'s RITA® contest.
Wendy was born a Jersey Girl, though most of her extended family lives in Maine. Trekking up and down the Northeast coast in the backseat of a car gave her plenty of opportunity not only to fight with her sister, but to read, to listen to her dad tell stories from history, and to dream up stories of her own.
She lives in NYC with her husband. Things she loves besides writing and reading and being an aunt to seven nieces and nephews include travel (50 states and all 7 continents), old things, pine trees, wine and pasta.

Very enjoyable novella. This novella was recommended on a book club site, and I'm very happy it was. Ms LaCapra is a new author for me and I will seek out her other books. Matthew Bellamy and Amelia Sartin are well rounded characters, and are ones you get invested in from the start. The storyline is also well fleshed out, and easy to get into. Highly recommend, especially if you are looking for a nice short read.
I have so enjoyed this series but a little disappointed that there is no mention of the 4th man of the series. As far as this book it was short and sweet. Still looking forward hopefully on the book about the clubs.
A quaint tale about not realizing what's right under one's nose.
Mrs. Amelia Sartin, widowed, has relied on her secretary Mr. Matthew Bellamy to assist her in carrying on the trade business her late husband built. It took her friend's interest in Bellamy for Amelia to realize she was smitten with her secretary. Though, there is the ten years difference in ages, she's his employer, and the tongue waging of the Ton, they both realize their love for each other.
A well crafted story with believable motives and conflicts.
This was an enchanting story of a mismatched couple. I was upset with the hero because he was so quiet and reserved. But don't disrespect him if you owe him money, no matter who you are. The heroine is sweet but shrewd. By the end of this story, I was so on board. Highly recommend.
Just kind of fell flat. This book begins with the heroine coolly ignoring her friend's conversation at a party, then getting jealous because her friend is trying to pursue her employee, who she's just discovered is attractive with his glasses off, then trying to reignite last year's affair with a younger man and accidentally offending him by mentioning that a friend of hers "recommended" him, then complaining that his generation is so prudish...so how does she become so bland and boring by the end?
Mrs. Sartin's Secretary is an awesome historical romance by Wendy LaCapra. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Ms. LaCapra has given readers a book that's well-written and populated with outstanding characters. Amelia is a widow and now the head of Sartin Trading Company. Matthew is her secretary. Amelia and Matthew's story is packed with drama, humor and naughty bits. I loved every word of this little book and look forward to my next book by Wendy LaCapra. Mrs. Sartin's Secretary is part of the Lords of Chance Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
This story is connected to Wendy's Lords of Chance series.
