I have to be brave, they're watching.

I was a pretty normal seventeen-year-old girl, until my dad found out I had powers… He shipped off to the most famous school for powered people in the world, Hero High.

Now I have to live at the Super Structure, and let cameras follow me round every day. I never knew how many expectations we had for powered people; clothes, personalities, fake romances. It's okay though, I'm making money for the family and besides, my best friend Jake's with me.

This place is crazy.

There's a guy on fire, running around, menacing the city. To make things worse there's this weirdo in a black suit and mask.

I have to find out who they are, and what they're doing here.

No matter the cost.

Denial is book 1 of the Hero High series, is approximately 150pages long and is set in the near future world of Icon City, a haven for powered one-percenters.

Hi, I wrote a book, it's called Hero High, maybe you've heard of it?
...
...
No? Huh? Weird. That's on you.
Anyway, I refuse to get a "real" job, and live with my parents at the ripe old age 20, trying desperately to make a living off of writing. I have a patreon, where no one pays me, and a Wattpad series called The Lesser Gods, that no one reads. This writing thing is so easy. (Insert Julia Robert laugh here.)

My real name Is Marina Charalambides, but everyone said that was too hard. You know, just generally, so call me Mina Chara.

Denial (Hero High Book 1)
By Mina Chara
5 out of 5 stars

The story Denial (Hero High Book 1) by Mina Chara is a book that had me hooked and wondering what was going to happen next. It pulled me in, and I found myself at the end wishing for a few more chapters. It is the story of a girl who has been placed in Hero High by her father. She is 17, is opinionated, has powers, and not shy about what she says or does. Things seem to happen around her and as she tries to settle into school, she finds herself in several situations that make her wonder just what is going on in the city. Read this book for the full story. This is a fast-paced story. It takes you to a school where powered people live and train. The character that you follow seems to follow her own drum and is finding out that strange things are happening around her. I like the idea of a school for those with powers and it would be an interesting and exciting place to be. The other characters who interact with the main character are interesting and I enjoyed the interactions that occur. This is a book that I would recommend reading.

I’ve enjoyed this young adult genre more than most teens I know or young adults. In this futuristic mystery, we go into the world of Icon City, a haven for one percenters. You instantly fall in love with the characters, especially the main character who has a powerful personality which is set to inspire the readers.
She’s fully aware of her personality which brings her great strengths in a lot of ways plus she’s aware of her surroundings and how it affects her.
In this fantasy, she used to be a “normal” 17-year-old girl until her dad found out she had superpowers and shipped her off to a famous school for powered people of the world -- Hero High.
At Hero High, she lives in the SuperStructure where cameras follow her every move. People with powers have just as many expectations on them as humans do with the pressures they succumb themselves to. Through this she’s making money for the family and she’s starting to see the place for what it is.
She is us as we’re along for the ride with her as she takes on the role of hero as she attempts to discover the identity of an unknown villain and their intentions with the school. She’s a selfless hero in for the ride no matter the consequences.
Great adventure with mysteries. Fun read full of action-packed pages full of unpredictable twists and turns. Very fun to get through.

Denial is the first book the Hero High series. It is a fast-paced book that packs a lot of events into a short story. Friday is a seventeen year old new student at Hero High. While her powers aren't as obvious as everyone else's...she is determined to prove herself and become the superhero she wants to be. However, people doubt her from the moment she starts. Oh...did I mention that everything is also being filmed because Hero High is also a reality television show?!? In the short amount of time in the book, Friday finds herself in quite a few situations where she has to think fast on her feet and keep herself alive in the process.

There was a lot of information in this book. We are introduced to the world of Hero High and some of the other students and superheroes. We are given some of Friday's backstory and left with a lot of unanswered questions to the situations she finds herself in. I was drawn in because I wanted to know more...and I still want to know more. I will be waiting for future books so I can, hopefully, get some answers to all my questions. Plus, I am rooting for Friday!

This was my first read for me by Mina Chara. I will say that it was a good book overall and I appreciated the concept by the time I had it finished but it did take me a bit to get into the flow of the story. I think a lot of that was because this is a new series and the first book so we got a bit of set up information that may just have been a bit on the heavy side. Otherwise, this book is a quick read with a lot of surprise action that will keep you guessing until the end.

Friday is our main gal and she is currently in a predicament of learning that she has powers that set her aside from the typical seventeen year old. When her father learns of this he sends her off to a school far away from the family. She finds herself in Hero High and facing the new life her magic has formed for her. This is a short read but I still found myself reading past my bedtime to find out how things would eventually play out for Friday. I look forward to getting my hands on the next Hero High novel, Anger.

Denial
Hero High
Book 1
By Mina Chara
☆☆☆☆☆
This is a full length fantasy. Written for the coming of age romance readers.

Welcome to the School for the Power People. Hero High provides all the things the students need. This is a different type of school you are used to. These high school students are told what to wear, as the school provides the clothes. The students are followed around by cameras and are told who they are to date. That being the case, they are paid for this. Good or bad the money is to help out their families. That is all I will tell you! No spoilers!

Mina Chara has written this Fantasy Adventure. I love the characters in this story. But most of all I feel as though I am right there beside the teens. This book is loaded with action and will keep you reading. Although it is written for teens and young adults, I feel anybody could read it. This gives you a chance to discuss this book with your teens, open communication is always GREAT. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series, as well as discussing it with my teenager. Well Done Mina Chara!

Denial is the first book in the Hero High series by Mina Chara. I haven't read her work before, but I enjoyed this book. At first I thought it was going to be cheesy because of the names of the city and characters. They were not very original, using names like Super Structure, Hero High, and Captain Fantastic. Despite that, I am glad I stuck out the story because I ended up loving it. Its a great start to a series that I think will be awesome. The writing style is very descriptive and you feel like you're right there alongside the characters. It seems like The Incredibles meets XMen, and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
The book follows 17 year old Friday, who has powers. She is shipped off to Hero High, which is a school for those with powers, but doubles as a reality show. They are followed by cameras, and merchandise is made to look like them and sold in the malls. These super kids are assigned a team and a mentor, have their wardrobes picked for them, the whole nine yards. Friday is trying to stay in the shadows, but keeps finding herself in the spotlight.

This is the first book I have read from this author and I am now hooked. This is the first book from the Hero High series and what a perfect start to a series. I was excited when I started this book. I stopped everything and started to read it immediately. I could not put this book down until the end. These characters hooked me into their story and I can’t wait to read more.

Friday is like your normal seventeen year old. She had friends and family but when her dad finds out she has a super power he ships her to a special school. Friday is shipped to the number one hero school, Hero High. She is now in a more structured environment that she doesn’t like. Friday also has to be filmed everyday but at least she has her best friend by her side. She is surprised when she finds out what it takes to be a superhero. Friday doesn’t have the time because this man that is on fire is making trouble and Friday needs to find out why. Will Friday fit into her new school or will she be the outcast?

Denial (Hero High Book 1) by Mina Chara
Although this is a short story its packed full of Paranormal action. I’m going to be honest it took be a bit to get into. Some parts felt rushed while others fell a bit short ,with that being said once I got past the first chapter it was smooth sailing and I couldn’t put it down. Although this is my first read by this Author I can honestly say it wont be my last. Friday is a seventeen year old who after her father finds out about her magical powers sends her away. She finds herself at Hero High and a couple of times finds herself in a situation where she wonders what is really going on. Find out what happens next in this fast paced story I highly recommend reading. I literally can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in this series

Denial is book 1 of the Hero High series and is set in the near future world of Icon City which is a haven for ‘powered one-percenters’. The story centres around seventeen year old Friday who is in her first year at Hero High, a famous school for people with powers. She has to live within the super structure and she has cameras following her around all the time. The school has very high expectations of its powered pupils but thankfully Friday has best friend Jake with her to help her settle in. Although this is a short story it packs a lot in and is a great start to the Hero High series. It has a fast paced storyline and the world building is well done, as I felt immersed in Icon City. I liked the main characters, Friday and Jake, and all the secondary characters were fascinating too and I look forward to them getting their own stories during the series.

Denial is the first book in the Hero High series, following seventeen year old Friday starting her journey at, not your normal, high school. Hero High is a school for super hero’s of every style.
This first book gives you a great introduction to characters, and despite being a short read really manages to pack a lot of information in. I am the kind of reader or thrives off details and wordy descriptions, so for me it felt a little rushed. But that’s definitely a reflection on my reading style, and I can see how the style of writing complements the energy of the story.
I’m excited to see where the author goes with this story, it feels like the possibilities are endless. It’s a great new series and different to anything else I have read, I look forward to the next instalment.

Mina Chara is a new author for me. This was a relatively short book, 3 chapters is all- but so full of information without being info overload. I honestly can’t wait to see what happens next. This book is about Friday Fitzsimmons and her beginning at Hero High. Throughout the book you meet new people who influence her in both positive and negative ways.Friday leaves her home, basically kicked out by her father, to get money for her family. She’s always wanted to be a hero, even if she doesn’t think her power is very good. It’s a quick read but very detailed. I enjoyed this and can’t wait for the next installment. There are so many different questions that she left open ended, I have no doubt the next books will be just as amazing.

Denial (Hero High Book 1) by Mina Chara is a short novel which introduces the reader to the world of superheroes. The story is told by Friday who is a first year student at Hero High, a special facility in Icon City built to train the next generation of heroes. Friday experiences a lot of challenges in the first few days such as the typical mean girl, the mysterious man and meeting her childhood idol. The story is told as a flashback, with glimpses to the present day, I really liked this and felt that it added to the story. I would have loved it if it was longer as I am now eagerly anticipating the next instalment.

Denial (Hero High Book 1) By Mina Chara.

Denial is book 1 of the Hero High series it is set in the near future world of Icon City, a haven for powered one-percenters. I really got into this book, it follows Friday’s journey at hero high. Friday is a 17-year-old young woman telling a reporter her story and how she came to Hero High. I don’t want to give too much away so I will just say if you like, fantasy, superheroes and adventure then this book is perfect for you. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series. Mini Chara has written this book brilliantly and even though its only 150 pages nothing is left out, the characters are relatable, and the story line is great. Thank you.

Denial is the first book in the Hero High series by Mina Chara. It is a Young Adult fantasy adventure story set in a ‘superhero’ high school.
When 17 year old Friday develops ‘powers’ she is sent to Hero High, where her adventure begins, and things start to get interesting.
Mina Chara is a new-to-me author whose book popped up on my recommended book feed- it piqued my interest, so I grabbed a copy to see what I would find. I am happy to say that I enjoyed the story and am looking forward to the rest of the series.
If you love young adult reads with fantasy, adventure, and superheroes- then this is definitely the book for you.

Thank you, Mina Chara!

Denial is the first novel in the Hero High series by Mina Chara. This is my first novel by this author.

After finding out she has powers, Friday is sent to Hero High by her Dad.

Her powers are not as known as other students there, but being the new kid at school she is determined to prove herself.

I really enjoyed this novel and it has helped me in my reading slump. It’s been a stressful few weeks and I was excited to be able to just sit back and get lost in a book.

Reading this made me think of the movie ‘Sky High’.

I look forward to reading the next book and having some questions answered and see more of Friday’s development. Did I mention ‘Friday’ is such a cool name?

Denial (Hero High Book 1) by Mina Chara

5-Stars

Denial (Hero High Book 1) by Mina Chara was a fun and interesting short read. I loved the authors creativity in making a world full of heroes. This gave it a unique twist. I loved the backstory of main character Friday. She was different and extremely smart. I loved her and her quirkiness. I also loved how the book was set up as an interview of her. I am interested in learning more about Ashley. Is he who I think he is? I can’t wait to read the next book. This book may be short but it is great. I easily give it 5-stars and I highly recommend it.

Denial (Hero High Book 1) by Mina Chara. This is a fun coming of age fantasy book. Its the story of a 17 year old girl who has powers and as soon as her dad found out he sends her to Hero High, one of the most famous schools for powered people. She has to live at Super Structure and let cameras follow her every move. The school tells her what to wear, what kind of personality to have, who to hang out with and who to fake a romance with. That is a lot to deal with but they are compensated by being paid. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat and you will feel like you are right there with the kids!

Hero High Denial is the first book I've read by Mina Chara and it didn't disappoint, young adults will love this book. The descriptions and scene mapping were so detailed which always helps me be able to see the story rather than just follow it so I really loved that quality. The first page had me interested in the story plot and I just couldn't wait to see where the it went and how the characters would progress in Hero High. This is a new world and new age of superheroes to explore and fall in love with, anyone who enjoys the young adult genre will find this book satisfying. Now I can't wait to read book 2....

I was definitely pleasantly surprised by how much this story drew me in. This is a new to me author and I’m excited to see where I’m taken with this author. This book while on the smaller side still packed a punch with the journey we’re taken on with our main character. It’s filled with action and fantasy. It’s well written and paced nicely. The characters are complex and relatable, they really pull you into their world and I can’t wait to see where we’re taken next. I’m giving this story a four star review and highly recommend.

Denial by Mina Chara a four-star read that you won’t be able to deny. This is number one in the Hero High series and shows promise for the rest of the series, this was such a short read, I latterly started it thinking I would read a couple of pages and then start some work, but I started it and finished it and then started the work. Friday is the main character and she will make you smile, she is such a firecracker, watching her story will just keep you hooked. The rest of the series cant come son enough as I want to see what will happen next.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I enjoyed it from page one to the very end. It was a short story so I got through it pretty quickly. The characters really brought this story to life and they're what made this story good. The main character had powers that get her sent away to school. She needs to learn all she can especially about the others around her. I cannot wait to see what else this author had in store for us and I am looking forward to reading more of this series. I would recommend this to a friend.
Happy Reading!

This story was fast moving full of action. It is in the genre of YA but do not let that sway you away from this book. It is full of people with special powers. It takes place in Icon City, a have for powered one-percenters. How could you go wrong? You are among people who have special abilities like you. There are some different people who seem to be annoying. Will she ( the main character) figure out what is going on? Can her and Jake(best friend) survive this new school? I recommend this story to find out this and other amazing details.

Denial (Hero High Book 1) by Mina Chara was a great quick read. The pacing is fast and the introductions done quickly. I pictured the story as a comic book while I was reading and enjoyed it tremendously. I think this is a great young adult read and opens a few doors to have discussions with your kids if they read it. My son is too young but I am trying early on to turn him into a reader so I can understand how his brain works. I loved the setting, the characters, and the plots presented. I look forward to more from this series!

This novel by Mina Chara was really good. Today, Superheroes are a really big deal. Maybe they have always been a big deal, just ask any young boy with a comic book collection. What made this book interesting was the fact that it is a book about superheroes just starting out. They are all young and new to their superhero attributes. Mina Chara included in her story some adventure and suspens which made for a very interesting read. I look forward to continuing the adventure in the next installment of Mina Chara’s series.

I enjoyed the pace of the story and the characters which were introduced. I also liked it was a bit of several genres. This is a series I will be reading to see where this author takes everything from here.

Denial (Hero High Book 1) by Mina Chara is a Young Adult fantasy story. It is fast paced and a lot happens as we follow along with the students, future heroes and past heroes who also happen to be a television reality show as well. Friday sets out to be a hero but lives in the background but she unwittingly finds herself in the thick of things as the story unravels. I enjoyed the story and can't wait to read the rest of the series.

This was a great little adventure. Even though its just 150 pages long it has everything a great book needs and leaves the reader wanting more.

Friday is sent to Hero High to train to be a superhero. However its not all plain sailing. Every where she turns she gets into trouble.

Friday is trying to prove herself but there is a lot of distractions. The main one being who is the person they are calling the Figure in the Flames?
