Surrendered, the third book in Lynch’s debut series, is a beautiful story of a Navy seal and his fiancee as they learn to give love and life to each other and their Savior in the midst of a military career and new relationship. I absolutely loved this book and cannot recommended both Surrendered and Lynch’s other two books in the series enough. Surrendered is filled with authentic characters, heart-wrenching emotion, nerve-wracking dilemmas, and lessons of faith, love, and hope in God and family. By the end of the first chapter I knew that Surrendered would be on my favorites of 2015 list–in fact, it is my favorite contemporary of the year–and I had to force myself to read slower because I did not want to finish the book.

Lynch writes with straightforward prose that embodies the authenticity of everyday life. Main characters Kaylan and Nick are so real that I felt as if I had known them my entire life. I cheered for these two as they fought to understand each other and give the other their desires and needs. Oftentimes when reading contemporary fiction I find bits of advice to follow from the characters, but with Surrendered the relationship between Kaylan and Nick demonstrated in its entirety that one based on Christian values is not necessarily easy but most definitely fulfilling . Lynch’s characters strove to better themselves as individuals in an understanding that the other could not fulfill the role of a perfect companion. This portrayal is both necessary and a beautiful because both general market and Christian fiction typically sugar-coats romance with unrealistic expectations. With the backdrop of an oftentimes challenging and frightening profession influencing every aspect of Kaylan and Nick’s relationship, Lynch shares with readers how her couple is able to rely on God and their faith when so much is out of their control.

It has been several years since I read the first two books in this series, so I wasn’t sure if I’d remember everything. Well, I know I forgot some things, but there was enough to remind me of what I needed to know.
I really enjoyed this story better than Book 2. Maybe because I already knew who the bad guys were and it was the time to take them out. There were times things got very intense, but nothing like last time. And the few intense scenes were short.
Kaylan’s struggles of surrendering her desire to have a perfectly safe life with a safe husband who would always be with her when she needed him, her learning to let others be close even though she might lose them, were encouraging and real. She had been through a lot and it felt natural to struggle with such things.
Nick was a great guy. No, he wasn’t perfect, and maybe he didn’t handle something right, but that made him more real.
I loved the SEAL team when they were all together. Their friendships were refreshing. And I loved how Natalie was welcomed in.
The ending was sweet and perfect, but I wanted to keep reading. I wanted to know more about all of them! Good Christian messages throughout the book, with prayer and Bible reading.
There were kisses and hugs between Nick and Kaylan, but nothing descriptive. Some mentions of people getting injured or killed, but again, nothing really descriptive.

This entire book series is inspiring and amazing to read. From Book 1 to Book 3, it is a powerful love story written by God. The author takes good care to not write anything suggestive or use foul language. I have thoroughly enjoyed going on this written adventure with these characters.

I found this three-book series gritty, yet uplifting. Kariss Lynch's characters face the most difficult, even traumatic experiences with realistic emotions--and, eventually, with desperate faith. I highly recommend all three "Heart of a Warrior" books!

Lots of suspense, characters with a very strong faith, some romance, and plenty of action – all key ingredients to hold my attention. Surrendered has them all. Kariss Lynch has done a great job of grabbing and keeping my interest throughout this series. I hate to see it come to an end. The story is so much more than a Christian Romance novel. The faith of the main characters has grown throughout the series as they have dealt with things that would make a weaker person crumble. I admired the strength of character displayed by Nick, Kaylan’s brothers, and several of the SEAL team members. The camaraderie of the SEALs and their families was a very uplifting thing to read about. While Nick had his SEAL team, Kaylan had a strong support group as well. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys good clean action-packed stories.
