The Baptist brothers are every woman’s dream and their enemies’ most terrifying nightmare.
Known in their hood for owning Smokin’ Kutz, the most popular shop in town, their successful business only represents a small part of who Iggy, Smoke, Kiyan and Flame really are.
As the leader and the oldest, Ignitus “Iggy” Baptist is the most dangerous of the Baptist clan. He moves stealthy and goes under the radar as the quiet one, valuing his time as priceless and keeping his focus on his money. He has no interest in love until one day leads to a reunion with a stranger from his past… the one girl that he always wanted but could never have.
The coolest and collected of them all, Shameer “Smoke” Baptist, struggles with his demons in private. When a beautiful woman waltzes into his life with her own baggage, Smoke feels that she’s exactly who he needs in his life. What he doesn’t know is that she has a past of her own and the secrets that she’s holding may lead to the end of his life.
Kiyan Baptist is on his way to becoming a successful surgeon, but while his career is flourishing, his marriage seems to be plummeting. After finding solace outside of his marriage, Kiyan’s life quickly spirals out of control. By the time he realizes the mistake he’s made, it may be too late, and he is left to pick up the pieces of his once perfect life on his own.
Like moths to a flame, women are drawn to Kindal ‘Flame’ Baptist, the most sought-after brother, in the same way. He’s the cockiest of them all but also the most skilled when using his ‘talents’. With one nagging baby mother in his ear and another who pays him no mind, Pia seems to be the breath of fresh air that he needs in his life. When Flame realizes that she’s the female version of him—wanting no parts of a relationship, just relations—it becomes clear that he’s finally met his match.
In this steaming tale of brotherhood and love, four women must decide whether they have what it takes to hold a Baptist brother down. The question is, can they handle the fast and furious lifestyle or will the secrets of the past that were meant to be forever buried, leave them all burned?
I guess it's safe to say Elle has got to be one of the dumbest! She had more than enough time to tell Smoke what was going on and should've been smart enough to know when Muggs was spitting bs. And if she had no plans of helping all evidence should've been destroyed and not where someone could get to it. Lawd I hope she's ready for the consequences she'll have to face. Flame got a dose of his own medicine with Pia but I'm hoping this minor setback doesn't cause things to shift between them. Iggy needed to learn to listen instead of jumping to conclusions. I'm hoping he makes good on what he asked Beau. What she's dealing with sucks and hopefully things will work out this go around for her. Kiyan needed to be slapped. After all the craziness Faye still had his back and protected him. I need more on why Sandy is truly placing the blame and if she or Pops is correct. I was surprised about what each brother specialized in but learning of what they went through explained everything. The unfortunate accident was a good thing considering what happened. Hopefully they'll tie up any loose ends, including Sandy and focus on going on with their lives.
The writer comes right out the box with a winner, and doesn't let you off the hook. From the beginning you know it's more to these brothers and it's going to be one check of a ride for the women who love them. The writer gives you a full accounting of a really good story, you are going to encounter quite a few twist and turns and love every moment. This story deals with quite a few heavy subjects that plague the African American community but the writer handles it with style. The story ends on a cliffhanger and if you are like me I've just been repeating the word " what". So please don't wait to long for the follow-up.
For your debut release is was really good. That heifer Suggs is really crazy. All this over a man she is obsessed with and daddy issues. Honey lock her nutty self up asap. Them boys went through so much and ppl still giving them hell. I know the turn up gone be real in the next book. Great job
I enjoyed reading this book. I love the Baptist boys. Flame was my favorite. I can't believe Detective Muggs was so crazy. That ending left me with my mouth open. I can't wait to read part 2..I recommend this as a good book to read....
Really enjoyed this book. Loved those Baptist brothers, they'd been through so much. That dang Detective Muggs was so freaking crazy. After that ending, I can't wait to see what happens next. Good job Teshera C.
It took a lot for me to get through this book. The storyline is drawn out. I do like the fact the author explains the last events. I'm not in a hurry to read part two. The plot is there to be seen.
