Down and Dirty

Faith Bennett

I have a knack for dealing with ghosts.
I can see them.
I can hear them.
And sometimes, just like children throwing a temper tantrum, they’re in need of a time out.
When a ghost appears that looks like my sister, and asks me to help find her body, of course, I’m willing to try.
Even if that means searching through trash at the town dump.

Keaton Daniels

Seven missing women.
A single clue.
A journey to the one woman I can’t afford to lose.
Faith knows where the bodies are buried and I need her help.
The sparks between us are as real as the danger I’m putting her in.
I can’t afford to let the attraction derail my focus. I need to catch this killer before Faith is in the killer’s crosshairs and she becomes the next woman to disappear.

"Down and Dirty", third book in the Bennett Dynasty series, is a fast and highly enjoyable read.
The pacing is spot on and the plotting is tightly focussed.
Faith Bennett sees ghosts and they are her constant companions.
A subplot in the series has been the search for their sister Talia and also for the missing line in the Bennett family tree. This time the strands begin to come together in an unexpected way.
When Cassie Bennett - the sister who finds people - locates Talia at a local dump Faith decides not to wait until morning and heads straight there, finding the body and the 'killer'!
It turns out he's a detective on the trail of a serial killer (seven murdered to date) and Faith has been in his dreams for many years. And, the icing on the cake, he can also see the dead.
Between them, and the many, many ghosts they begin to close in on the killer.

good story

Yes the story line was good but Ms Allenton reverted back to heroine getting shot. Between that scenario and everyone seems to cross their arms across their chest, a redundant action in ‘every book’ it unnerves me. At least I found one book so far that someone isn’t shot.

Great series, Faith and Keaton

I really enjoy the uniqueness of the series. Each sister has a paranormal skill that makes them special. Faith can see ghosts and she often helps her best friend Jimbo ,who is a detective , solve murders. She meets Keaton at the scene of one of the dumpsights from a serial murder he is investigating. Sparks fly between the two. They are sweet together, but we don't get the relationship building we got with the others. Just some flashes from prophetic dreams and we are supposed this accept them as fated. I do think they complement each other, just wish there had been more back and forth. The story is great, just doesn't pack same punch as her other short stories. When the serial killer sets his sights on Faith, Keaton struggles to keep her safe. This can be read as a stand alone, just like all in this series. It is better if read in order, to understand the dynamic of the sisters better and the over all arc of the missing Bennett line.

Just because someone smiles at you doesn't mean they're your friend.

Down and Dirty and right to the point is the premise of this book. It was a quick, enjoyable read with mystery, intrigue, and a touch of spice.

Faith Bennett sees ghosts and is a psychic medium. Her forte is communicating with people in the afterlife. She makes a living giving readings. With that being said, she's drawn into case by a ghost who looks like what her sister might look like had she lived. Faith and her sisters don't believe Talia is dead and they keep looking for her. So, when this ghost appears and tells Faith to find her and she ends up in a trash dump, things start happening.

Nothing about this is routine, but is anything when it comes to the paranormal? Jared is a seven-year-old boy ghost who seems to chaperoned by another ghost named Veronica. They play a big part in this story and let's just say that it's fortuitous that Jared leaves knives on the counter all the time. The two of them are almost like spirit guides to Faith. They warn her of things and tell her when they don't like somebody...like Detective Keaton Daniels, the man who introduced himself to Faith as her future husband.

Keaton sees ghosts, too and understands Faith probably more than anybody else. He's on a case of a serial killer and Faith finds herself smack dab in the middle of it. She falls and hits her head and lands a date with the doctor who treated her after being hauled to the hospital in an ambulance. Less than a week later, she falls and hits her head again and gets another ride in the ambulance. I didn't get bored or think that she was stupid, but as in all of Kate Allenton's mysteries, everything has a point and is intertwined.

I didn't feel get the same passion tension between Faith and Keaton that I got in the first two books of the series with Gwen and Cassie, but it really didn't matter. The plot and the story were enough to keep me turning the pages. I wanted to find out who was doing all of these murders and why. It didn't turn out at all like I thought it was going to and the twist was ultra sweet! At least one mystery is solved and I got a great ending.

I love this series and am looking forward to the next book.

I really enjoyed the two previous books. This book is just weird. Okay, so Faith sees ghosts. What is strange is that everybody else goes along with it. There are no skeptics. The story just did not click for me.

As with the previous two books, there are a lot of grammatical errors. An editor is needed.

There were a lot of questions in this book that were over looked or not answered at all. Why were the ghosts around her there sometimes and not at others? Why did Mary insist that the hero was there before she gave Faith the information about her death, and why did Faith have to perform the ritual and what was it?

Hands Down a Favorite!

I loved Faith’s story! Hers was probably the story closest to the original Bennett Dynasty, which I loved! I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
