Gently examining how a betrayal can rip a family apart, Arnaud also shows the reader that past bitterness can be overcome. When Annie was very young some mysterious event tore her family in pieces. She was heartbroken but never understood. Helping her mother move twenty years later, she discovers a journal hidden in an old wardrobe. It reveals her family's shocking secret, the reason behind their estrangement.
Annie begins a quest to set things right again, but she encounters many emotional barriers along the way. The story is so appealing because all the characters grab the heart of the reader - even the betrayers. And the ending is quite unexpected.
