Fans of science fiction and alien romance will love this stand alone novel.
Floating in deep space, Julia and the crew of the Nerve combat an unseen foe. Every day, more crew members vanish without a trace, and menacing sounds echo through the night. It’s only a matter of time before the monster sets Julia in its sights.
With her dragon mate Kiv, her friend Sinna—a rare alien with a moving star-map on his body—and the infuriating boulder giant, Ruhar, Julia is thrown into a dark, desperate fight for survival. The horror on board is picking them off one by one, and even if Julia and her men escape the Nerve, the shadow will not let them go.
This stand-alone book is fast burn romance. If you like dark sci-fi with horror elements and a heavy dose of romance, you’ll love Dead Space. This is RH, which means Julia doesn't have to pick a favourite of her alien lovers - why choose when you can have all three?
Previously published in the Falling For Them Volume 5 anthology.
Leigh Kelsey is the author of romance and reverse harem books for anyone with a soft spot for steely women and the tortured men who love them. No matter what stories she's writing - vampires or shifters or bad boys - they all share a common thread of love, heart, and action. She is the author of the Lili Kazana series, the Moonlight Inn series, the Dead Space stand alone, and the Blacktower Prison for Supernaturals series, plus many more books.
I can't remember the last reverse harem I've read where the main character already had a harem member and quickly established the others. I mean quickly. It was refreshing in a way. A change of pace if you will. I loved the idea of the storyline having that creep factor for an almost unseen monster. However, I don't think that the creepy space monster gave the book its "dark" factor. While the novel was entertaining, I wish the author would have dug a little deeper into the characters and their development. I look forward to further novels from this author.
The writing was great! The horror/mystery storyline was just meh, but otherwise, I thought it was really strong. Wouldn't call it a romance though - more like an erotic space reverse harem thriller.
I liked that all three of the men were from different alien races. I didn't really buy the transition from casual-sex to permanence. . I dunno, that part just seemed a little off.
Other than that, it was an enjoyable read. I'll definitely check out Kelsey's work in the future.
OMG what a great book!!! 🤓... Usually I don't like space books but this one is so fricking good!!! 🤩... The hot and intense relationship bettwen Julia and her men are out of the charts... Uffff!!!🔥🔥🔥... But is not just that, the plot is so mysterious and unpredictable that will keep you glued to your sit, turning pages till our crew find out what is really happening to all of them, the truth will blow your mind... What???, didn't expect that!!! 😱😳🤯... 💯 recommended!!! 😍💖
Worst offense: you don’t know enough about the characters to care about them. The stupidest ending to the lame “horror story” element. Bad: so many parts of the book are hard to follow. It reads like a movie with camera angles zooming all over the place. But it doesn’t make sense in written form and is so confusing. Neutral: the overall writing, some is good some is bad, there are enough grammar errors and missing words to be noticeable. Good: not much Great: the sex scenes in were plentiful, detailed and will leave you hot and bothered.
Sweet, steamy, and original. This book had me from the beginning. I mean, RH and sci-fi..? Already off to a great start. Then right from the start there’s steam and action. I love that Julia already has a mate before the other guys join. Julia and Kiv are already adorable, and they’re only made better with the addition of Sinna and Ruhar. And this storyline..! Talk about plot twist. I loved every minute of it.
This story was really fun. The horror vibe wasn’t to intense, I never felt scared or tense while reading but the characters got scared a lot. My one complaint is that she and sinna never had actual sex. She did with the other guys but never him though he was always there he just ended up with a HJ or a bJ. That seemed unfair to me and a big let down.
Loved this book. I’ve yet to read a book by Leigh Kelsey that I haven’t enjoyed. But the suspense intertwined with the romance in this story had be fixed from the beginning. If you like reverse harems that have a plot that is also engaging then I would definitely recommend you read this book.
This is a stand alone ya!!!!🥰 It's well written and the characters are phenomenal! I'm not a huge space fan and I really enjoyed this story! You need to check it out!
I really enjoyed reading this book. If you love sci-fi and RH this is the book for you. I love the characters and the story. I would definitely recommend reading this book.
This stand alone novel was quite entertaining, but didn’t have a lot of depth. It refers to itself in the blurb as a dark sci-fi with horror elements, which I suppose is accurate, but it isn’t very good at conveying true horror. If you take away the horror elements it leaves a story that isn't particularly dark. It is however, a sci-fi alien romance.
Julia is human and has an alien mate, Kiv. They are stranded on board a ship that has been dispatched to aid a planet that is in distress, only to find themselves in a similar situation. Members of the crew have gone missing and the ship is dead in space.
Julia and Kiv, her friend Sinna and their annoying colleague Ruhar seem to be doomed to never get back home, but teaming up together has it’s benefits.
Personally I didn’t think it was very scary, the characters didn’t have much depth, though the connection between the characters both emotionally and sexually was believable. The connections seemed to be the only important thing about each character. They all seemed to exist only for the book’s timeline. There were only a couple of references to the time before the book was set but they were never followed up on. This made the characters feel one dimensional.
The actual prose was articulate and smooth, but it felt a little like a novella that had been padded a little bit to make it a book. However, like I said, it was enjoyable and the twist at the end was quite interesting. I might try another book by this author to see if I enjoyed it more, but it won’t be straight away because I have plenty of books in my TBR pile.
