For the continual mention of women being "equal or better than men." Just write the story. ..which is awesome! But stop with the PC crap please. There are great women...There are great men...There are great HUMANS!!!! But forcing men and women into these PC boxes is not great at all. I don't care what gender my hero's are, just that they ARE heros!
Winter’s Mourn, Winter’s Curse and Winter’s Redemption
Wow! Mary Stone has outdone herself. You can’t help but to fall in love with Winter Black and Noah Dalton. They are perfect for each other if they will let it happen. These three books in the Winter series are so exciting and the preacher is down right horrifying. These books grab you on the first page and don’t turn you loose. The thrills and chills just keep on coming. I can’t wait for the next booms in the series. Thank you Mary Stone for this series and for the free copy of Winter’s Origin.
What an incredible series!!! Loved this one. It’s a story that follows the life of a girl named Winter. With the murder of her parents and the loss of her brother Winter is struggling with life till she finds her purpose. She decides to become a FBI agent so she can solve the murder of her parents and the disappearance of her brother, but will she solve this before the serial killer decides she’s to close.
Winter Black Series Box Set 1 (Winter Black Books #1 - 3) by Mary Stone. These books follow Special Agent Winter Black, whose life was shattered when her parents were murdered and her little brother was believed to have been killed by a serial killer known as The Preacher. Years later, she’s not only chasing down dangerous criminals but also searching for the truth about her brother - a thread that runs through the entire series. Here, you get the adrenaline rush of intense investigations - serial killers, twisted motives, and plenty of edge-of-your-seat moments - but also the personal side of Winter’s life. She’s tough and determined, but she’s also human, dealing with grief, trust issues, and complicated relationships. Mary Stone’s writing is easy to sink into. The chapters are short and snappy, which made it really hard to put the books down. Each installment has its own case to solve, but there’s always that bigger mystery in the background, so you’ll probably want to read them in consecutive order to get the full picture and impact. If you like shows like Criminal Minds or enjoy crime series with a mix of action as well as character depth, then this series is a solid choice. Engaging, bingeable, and packed with both thrills and heart. Happy Reading…
I've just read the three volumes of Winter Black this week. Her story is riveting hard to put down. (I love her grandparents) The stories can really demonstrate how devastating trauma and murder is on a child and the life after such great loss. There has to be some kind of driving force to even survive. I liked how the author showed this one form if reality for a child who went through the unspeakable. The violence that the serial killer undertook was handled tastefully too. There was no sensationalism of the acts here. My only negative is foul language which I personally don't like. The author has a great command of descriptive language which makes the stories flow. The carry through of how Winter's life is influenced by family tragedy made sense and stayed active through her first assignments. Something felt a little off for me in the third book but it didn't ruin the overall storyline. I would read more.
This series contains the first three thrillers of the Winter Black series. It was great to have these three bunched together and especially nice to find them on Amazon Kindle Unlimited and costing nothing. It was especially nice to find this series when I did. I found them at the start of the quarantine for the Cronovirus-19. I had already started the quarantine before the President officially started it. Being able to have these three books to read right in a row made the series much more enjoyable. However, I had to cheat a little and at the end of these three books, I skipped to book nine and now have to go back and read books 4-8. They are delightful books and do keep you company when you need it.
Overall I enjoyed the 3 books in this Winter Black Series. However, there were several things that just didn't ring true such as figuring out just who The Preacher was, rudeness and back talking to your superiors at the FBI, allowing Winter Black to have anything to do with the hunt of The Preacher, out of the blue the grandmother changes her character completely. Just a bunch of strange things but it was still an enjoyable read. I just had to suspend a bit of reality. I have and still have covid so I will probably remember or not remember this series entertaining me while I have been under the weather.
Th lead character is a Mary Sue. The male leads are in love with her, fighting over her. There's immaturity shown by all three in their interactions, and at times the dialogue feels like it was written by a high schooler. All of this is very disappointing as it distracts from a great plot. The main villain is interesting and needs to have been fleshed out more. I was especially disappointed in that the main character uses her femininity to get her way with men. And that the other teenage less in the second book was a real B . So much for women's lib.
Can’t wait to read the rest of Winter Black series by Mary Stone
I just finished Book 3 of Mary Stone’s series, featuring main character Winter Black. It had a cliff hanger that added to my excitement to immediately purchase Books 4 - 6 in her enticing series. I loved the theme and great characters in the first three books and can highly recommend this series to anyone who likes to read mysteries with a small bit of romance thrown in. Just be sure you have the time because you won’t want to put the exciting story of FBI agent Winter Black down once you start reading.
Winter Black, the FBI agent, is caught between the Preacher, her nemesis since childhood when he killed her Mother and Father, and presumably her brother. Winter's soul purpose in life became revenge on the Preacher. So she joins the FBI to track him down, and along with her FBI mates, finally feels the Preacher close by in three murders committed by him in which she and her FBI mates investigate. Honestly, I could tell you more, but reading it yourself will be much better than my synopsis. This book will make time fly because it is that good!
Winter Black is not perfect and has many self doubts, but she is a badass FBI agent! Her special gifts are her secret weapon. This series is so well written. The suspense just keeps coming. I never felt a lag in the story line. Any fan of mystery and suspense will love this series.
These books were better than I expected. I’ll be watching for more books from Mary Stone. This set had all the ingredients I look for in a story. There was mystery, humor and a tease of romance. Thanks for three good tales, I hate, however, when a story dangles at the end, most times I won’t buy the next book.
I enjoyed the first two books more than the third. Mostly because the third book was a lot of characters talking to themselves. I was also annoyed that a murder at the end of book two wasn't carried over to the third. Hoping Dalton finds happiness in the next series with or without Winter!
Three book series. Poorly executed. First book was interesting enough. Good characters and plot. Second book was absurd. The characters are caricatures. Nobody acts like that and keeps their job. Book three was full of plot holes and departures from the-characters’ personalities. Too bad. I’m intrigued by the plot arc but not enough to keep reading.
This writer can grab your attention and keep it from page to page. I enjoyed this series and feel I know these characters as my acquaintances and I care about them. Winter has a lot of understandable issues that prevent her from moving on. I can't wait to continue the series.
I was looking to be distracted from my worries over covid 19 and the turmoil present in America right now. This series certainly kept my mind engaged trying to get a read on the characters and the possible outcomes. I'm looking forward to the next in the series. Highly recommended.
Can childhood trauma cause you too succeed in finding your family killer? Why did he go dormant for so long? To grow up and possibly hunt for her parents killer is what feeds her. FBI Winter Black, is focused, but is she too focus? Can she and fellow agents Aiden, Noah and Bree succeed in locating this killer. Will he be brought to justice?
An interesting read about FBI Agent, Winter Black. Strong characters!
Winter Black at age 13 found her parents murdered and her little brother missing, done by the serial killer The Preacher! She herself was left for read after suffering head trauma after getting hit by The Preacher.......and this begins her quest to find him in her FUN role. A big cat and mouse game....
These were the first books I have read by this author, but they won't be the last. The books were fast paced, with good character development and the main character has enough rather unique abilities to keep things extra interesting. If you like strong, capable heroines, with a touch of paranormal and a hint of romance, you should give these books a read.
Fast paced twists and.turns. Agent Black is a dichotomy. Sometimes a no.nonsense.FBI agent other times a.pain in the neck. Other times just.a.girl that is as mixed up as.anyone who.has.only lived for.less than.1/4 of a century. She.is.always interesting....Recommend this set of books who.likes fast paced novels.
What a fantastic journey I feel I have been on whilst reading this trilogy. The pace is fantastic… i have felt consumed by these books. The characters are great, all truly believable including the sinister “preacher”. I rarely read books which are one of many but looking forward to the next trilogy!
While I thought the first book had potential by the time I got to book 4 I was sick of the series. Only persevered that long because I was looking g for something better. After book one, it was as though the author just kept regurgitating the same soap opera and interjecting a different serial killer each time. Boring.
Once I started reading I didn't want to stop. So much drama & intrigue. Personal reactions between the FBI agents gave some relief to the tension building to catch the killer. I love her books.
Absolutely loved these books. They were full of excitement, intrigue, crazy scary, and much more. Can't wait to read the next three books; already in my queue. Thank you Mary Stone!
Great books1-3. Have really enjoyed these three books and look forward to the rest of the series. Enjoy you writing an the flow of this. I have a hard time just stopping for the night. Great books.
This is a great series. Engaging, fast moving. More psychological thriller than mystery. The characters are unique, not always likeable. Good guys share some traits with the bad guys.
I enjoyed these first three books about Winter Black. She became a FBI agent so she could catch the person who killed her mother and kidnapped her brother. She has trouble with relationships whether it is friendships or lovers. She also has some kind of power that allows her to focus on a situation and hopefully gain info to help with a crime. Now that she has discovered her brother may be alive, I have got to read the next novel.
Excellent storyline, character development and dialogue. Can't wait to continue the series. I am not much on reading about people.who can see things before they happen, but this was well done and I was able to enjoy the first 3 books in this series
I am so in love with this series. I love knowing there are more books and it's a growing series. I get so invested in Characters I hate series to end especially this one!
