He has also penned hundred of articles, short stories, poems, etc. He is a David R. Collins’ Literary Achievement Award winner from the Midwest Writing Center and a 5 times Bram Stoker Finalist. He lives in Rock Island, Illinois with his wife Cindy and pet rabbit Latte.
He published his first book in 2003, GIANTS OF THE GENRE. Dark Cities: Dark Tales is a labor of love from talented authors Michael McCarty. C.L. Sherwood, Mark McLaughlin & Joe McKinney. The amount of research and work that went into this story collection is obvious from the get-go Horror readers who dig anthologies will take to this collection like a fish to water.
And it's a short story collection where wonderful pop culture references abound. But wait! There's more...The cities themselves are more than mere backdrops, they are like real characters that help drive the stories. The stories are filled with dark humor that makes them fun to read. At times the short stories remind me of Clive Barker's Books of Blood & that dear readers is no small compliment. But wait! There's more...The titles of the chapter headings are the funniest and most original ones I have ever seen in any book. I think readers will be glad to take this quirky journey into a distant literary horizon. So buy it. You won't be sorry. It's a good time waiting to happen.
