FBI Special Agent Fountain Rhodes doesn’t have much luck when it comes to women. Most of them seem to be more interested in his gun and badge than in him. Not that he believes in love at first sight, but he does believe in happily ever after. If he could only meet the right woman.
Movie star Molly Whittier doesn’t have much luck when it comes to men, not that she has a lot of opportunities to meet any. Not with her manager trying to set her up with her costar Martin Riley every time she turns around. As for Riley, he’s convinced they’d be perfect together, except for one little detail: she can’t stand him.
When Fountain and Molly meet by accident, it looks like their luck is about to change.
Meanwhile, in West Hollywood, Detective Avery Tolliver is starting to have a bad feeling about a series of murders he can’t solve. There’s something about them he can’t quite put his finger on. In desperation he turns to the FBI’s newly formed Special Investigations Unit for help.
Pulled into the hunt for a diabolically clever serial killer, will Molly and Fountain’s romance survive, or will a madman bring it crashing to its knees if Fountain can’t figure out the murderer’s twisted endgame in time?
This is a stand-alone book with a HEA featuring characters from Malice in Wonderland. This is book 1 in The FBI Knitting Game Mystery Spin-Off series.
3 stars. I recently read Book 1 of the Hilary Latimer's Knitting Game Mystery series, which I quite enjoyed. This prequel had waaaay more kissy scenes than I wanted, but entertained me despite that. I did enjoy learning more about the main characters Fountain Rhodes and Molly Whittier.
I wasn't aware that this is a spin off when I started reading it ( just saw the title/author), and was very pleasantly surprised. The story of Rhodes and Molly was well put together and riveting. After reading this, I'd love a spin off about Harry and Wes-- before the apartment mix up (hint). Thoroughly entertaining and engaging.
A spin-off prequel of the author's original knitting series featuring Special Agent Fountain Rhodes and actress Molly Whittier. It is well crafted with good character development. The added voice of the antagonist lends drama and depth to the story. The book drew me in and I couldn't put it down, finishing it quickly. I probably enjoyed this story more than the original series.
This is the first FBI Knitting Game book that I’ve read (thought I’d start with the prequel). I was hooked immediately. Love the uber-nerdy FBI Special Agent and his smart, funny mega movie star girlfriend. Add in a diabolical serial killer and just strap yourself in for a rollicking roller coaster ride.
A wonderful puzzle of a mystery! Yes, a bit gory & quite frankly a little disturbing but it is a mystery with a deranged serial killer. Characters draw you into their lives and loves and headaches (yes, intended)…
More puzzles, more games, even when the killer is known the game keeps spinning (yep, again).
I read the series before the prequel and I really enjoyed them. I’m a knitter and I love mysteries so these were a fun read. My only complaint: there are a lot of characters and sometimes the author uses the first name and sometimes the last name so it got a bit confusing.
The author has created relatable characters. Agent Fountain Rhodes is brilliant and totally unaware of it. He ends up in an unexpected relationship and a mystery at the same time. There is enough mystery and knitting to appeal to Hilary's audience and enough sarcastic be entertaining.
