Angel Fire #3

Hearts Collide

Rate this book
Bent is broken in body, mind, and spirit. Complications of a severe injury plague Angel Fire’s legendary bassist. He’ll never play again. Never take the stage with his bandmates. And never soak in the intoxication of the crowd. Music has abandoned him.

At least that’s what he’s told his persistent physical therapist, Piper. What kind of a name is that? Piper? The woman is petite and vivacious, a pixie with red hair and a spitfire attitude. She doesn’t know when to give up, or when to shove her perpetual positivity into the deepest, darkest hole.

He’s fired her more times than he can count. She should leave him to his misery, but the woman won’t take no for an answer. She challenges him. Pushes him. She never lets up. The fiery pixie is turning his entire world upside down, and that's pissing him off.

How does someone get rid of a perky pixie? Bent desperately needs Piper to leave him alone—especially now that the infuriating woman is invading his dreams and stirring up his darkest fantasies.

I'm loving this series, three books in a prequel novella and I can't get enough. The men of Angels Fire have gotten under my skin.
Every book so far has held my attention. They've pulled a range of emotions from me. Ellie Masters really delivers the angst and knows how to pull at your heart strings with this series.

Bent has always been a Rock God in every sense of the word a strong domineering presence, who turns heads wherever he goes.
It all came naturally to Bent, then in the blink of an eye it all changed when an accident stole his ability to play Bass for Angels Fire.

The accident broke Bent not just the physical injuries but his spirit too. I really felt his anguish. I'm not gonna lie it broke my heart a bit.
Bent wants to give up but Forest Angel Fires manger has other ideas.

Piper is a physical therapist hired to get Bent back in shape.
These two clash straight away. Piper maybe small but she's not letting Bent chase her away, she has a job to do.
This firey little redhead pushes Bents buttons and ignites
more than just his temper, much to his annoyance.

I loved these two their journey isn't easy but they have more in common than either of them realise. Their chemistry is explosive its a love hate relationship.
Both of them have separate issues, they can help each other if they don't kill each other first.

I'm already desperate to see who's next from the rest of the band I'm hoping for Bash, I'm very curious about the shaven headed drummer.
However my most anticipated read is still Forests story. I seriously love this guy and I'll drop everything to read his book when it goes live.

This is a fantastic series and i can't wait to see what Ellie has in store for us next.

Details

There are a lot of details left out of these stories. Like, in the beginning of the second book, Forest is suddenly the manager of Angel Fire, but there's no mention of why Tuttle left. In this book, it seems like a big deal that Bent hates his given name (Bentley Hawthorne), but we get nothing of his back story (other than he hated his mother).

Maybe hearing something of Bent's past would've helped me like him. I didn't. He was a misogynistic a$$h0le and I had no sympathy for him or his situation.

Speaking of the lack details, we don't get much of Piper's background, either. We know she was a foster child and she suffered some kind of abuse at the hands of her foster father. (Where are they located? Why are single men fostering girls? Am I just old? Because I remember a time when that wouldn't have been allowed...but I digress.)

So far, I'm not all that impressed with this series (although the whole idea of using VR for physical therapy was intriguing... Is that a real thing?). But I'm holding out hope for Forest's book.

Hearts Collide: An Angel Fire Rock Romance (Angel Fire Rock Romance Series Book 4)
By: Ellie Masters
5 Ogre Stars

I knew going into this one was going to be an emotional journey! When Bent was injured while touring in the Middle East, his hand that played the best bass would need some serious physical therapy if he ever wanted to get back on stage. Although it was put back together, it wasn’t functioning properly.

When tough as nails, Piper gets hired as the physical therapist that will bring Bent back physically, she has quite the job ahead of her! Understanding completely how hard it is for someone to come back after an injury, she never expected this adult to act worse than some of her 5-year-old patients.

When forced to do 3 sessions per day to get this rocker back up on stage, temper tantrums flare, secrets are revealed, finding out who each other truly are, is the making for an emotional story.

Absolutely enjoyed reading each and every book about the men of Angel Fire. Bent’s story though, was the toughest. So many feelings were exposed yet, we find out that Bent is another reason why Angel Fire has been so successful. These men are family and stick together no matter what.

Can’t wait to read what comes next for the Angel Fire Group!!!

Hearts Collide

“The most difficult decision is the decision to act. The rest is merely tenacity.” Amelia Earhart

Piper Raines is a physical therapist; one of the best, according to Forest. But Bent Hawthorne doesn’t agree. He regards the petite Piper as a major pain… A pain in his backside. What part of he’s permanently broken doesn’t she understand? His right arm was blown to hell and back when his tour bus ran over a roadside bomb in Bagram. Held together by metal, pins, and sheer will, his right hand will NEVER play the bass guitar again…. It’s time Angel Fire found themselves a new bass player, and just let him go.
Piper Raines is a 5’ 4” red headed pixie of a woman; fierce and full of fire. She doesn’t care HOW many times Bent fires her, she’s not leaving. She’s not giving up on Bent, even if Bent has given up on herself. Piper needs to find a trigger to break Bent out of his self-imposed prison of pity and refusal to believe he’ll get better. Bent NEEDS to try, he NEEDS to get better. But how?
“The buck stops here. You give it your all, or you give it up. What kind of man are you going to choose to be?” Ash, lead singer of Angel Fire
As Piper and Bent continue their battle of wills, Bent discovers something about Piper, that calls to the dark side of his nature. He discovers Piper’s trigger, and his world view is shattered and remade. The sexual tension between them grows stronger and stronger; Piper fights to maintain a professional relationship with Bent, but can she? Should she? What if?
“She was his, and he was hers. Their exploration had barely started, and he already knew their forever stretched out before them.”
Captivating, riveting, enthralling! This story grabbed me by the throat and didn’t let go. I DEVOURED this book, barely taking time to sleep. It’s not your typical “feel good” romance; it’s raw, it’s gritty, it’s graphic and explicit. I felt as if I was IN the story, watching it all unfold before my eyes. If you enjoy a read that makes you feel, that makes you think, that just makes you want to know what’s going to happen next, then… this is the book for you! **Intended for audiences over 18; some BDSM and sexual scenarios. **

I defy anyone not to shed a tear with this one, this is enough to melt even the hardest of hearts, so get the tissues ready!!! Bent, the Bass Guitarist in a the highly successful rock band Angels Fire was severely injured when a bomb exploded under their tour bus, resulting in his right hand being held to together by plates and pins, he will never play in the band again. In comes Piper a small but tenacious physical therapist, determined to rebuild the strength in Bent's hand, after all there's no reason why he shouldn't regain full use of his hand, but it will take a lot of hard work. But it's a battle, Bent does not believe he can ever come back from the injuries and he hates Piper and fights her all the way. He has sacked her more times than he can remember but she keeps coming back. Then one day, what to most people would be a small and insignificant incident, changes things for both Bent and Piper, and they realise they belong together. However, this does not change Bent's attitude towards his rehabilitation, he still does not believe he can overcome his disabilities and play his prized bass guitar again. He does however agree with Piper to give his physical therapy sessions his all. Meanwhile Piper has an idea which she thinks will help Bent, but not wanting Bent to know what her idea is, she enlists the assistance of the bands Manager Forest who helps he put her idea into action, without Bent knowing. The question is will her idea work? What will happen when Bent realises that both Piper and Forest have gone behind hid back? Will Bent and Piper's relationship survive? The ending to this story will tug at your heart strings in more ways than one - brilliant

Seriously Ellie, how is one to choose between Ash, Ryker and now Bent? Not to mention the rest of the Angel Fire gang (Spike has me intrigued - the quiet ones are always up to something sneaky I feel). Hearts Collide is another knock your socks off kind of read. From page one I was drawn into Ellie’s words and couldn’t get enough.

Piper is definitely one of my favorite characters in this book. Bent’s nickname of “Pixie” fits her perfectly. I loved her fierceness and need to help others even though her childhood wasn’t the best.

Then you have Bent - Mr. Growly Bear - another perfect nickname. The man was infuriating at times and you just wanted to jump into the book and smack him upside the head but then our girl Piper would try and put him in place and my heart would swoon.

The Angst...
The Fierceness...
The Determination...
The Sexiness...

Just everything about Piper and Bent was on point and had my heart so happy. After an unthinkable event left Bent’s hand/arm in shambles Forest hires Piper as his last ditch effort to get him rehabilitated to be able to play the bass guitar again. What ensues after Piper starts is nothing less then entertaining. The banter between the two. The push and pull. The Angst. The sexual tension - which was off the charts hot. And just when I thought I was claiming Ryker, Bent comes into my life and I want him now too. OMG Ellie - why oh why - can I have them all?

Hearts Collide is a must read - 5+++ Stars. A definite one-click. The Angel Fire men are too hot to handle and I can’t wait for more.

Recovery Road

Angel Fire’s bassist, Bent, was injured during a USO tour to the Middle East, when a roadside bomb blew up under the Angel Fire bus. He has had a long road, in which recovery was positive and going to be hard work. But Bent has mental hang ups about his actual ability to recover and therefor has a poor attitude regarding his physical therapy plans, exercises and the physical therapist herself.

Piper has not had the easiest of starts in life. Her life changed when she was rescued by Skye & Forest’s Foster care rescue program. She’s currently contracted by Forest on behalf of Angel Fire, as Bent’s Physical Therapist. She also has the staying power & inability to be by fired by Bent, that has put her above the other PTs that came before her.

Piper has to come up with new ways to get Bent through his physical therapy without activating his mental blocks. Bent also has to be able to get through to Piper, so she can flourish without the haunts of her past coming up. They have to help each other all before the deadline of getting the next album cut.

Collision is a very good term to describe the relationship between Bent and his pixie Piper. When these two meet wills collide and words fly. What will it take to get a frustrated, broken man to try and heal? Bring on the determination of a red headed PT to jump start more than the muscles in his arm and hand! As the battle begins we learn things about Bent and Piper that I did not see coming. The little spit fire has a secret and once Bent figures it out, everything changes.

I love the dynamic with these two characters. I love when challenges are overcome. I love the angst in a story when the outcome could go either way. I love this band, Angel Fire and I’m ready to read the stories of all the guys. I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series.

Hot Damn!
Bent an incredible Bass player needs rehabilitation after an accident damages his playing hand and arm.
Piper is a Therapist who needs to do this job in order to find what she has lost.
Two incredible people whose lives have given them twisted paths in life.
An incredible read that encompasses a multitude of emotions and life’s desires. A deep heavy read that crosses into different lifestyles left behind due to events that have played major roles in both Bent and Pipers lives.
Warning, contains possible Triggers and events that may be uncomfortable.
Well written, well played. An enjoyable read that gets under your skin!

Liked it

I liked this book but didn't like the fact of the dom\sub part of it. The storyline for me was great all except for that sorry.
Still enjoying the dynamics of the band, and loving that we keep getting glimpses of the whole band and what's going on with them too.
I really hope you do a book for Bean!! Now onto the next book.
Highly recommend this series.

What a book! Heart's Collide is the next book in the Angel Fire series and centers around Bent, the bassist, and his physical therapist, Piper. They have a love/hate relationship that morphs into something more after Bent discovers something important about Piper. Ellie Masters has this wonderful ability to make you, the reader, feel as if you are right there along with the characters feeling everything, experiencing all the highs and lows, and taking apart in the actual story. I love her Books and can’t wait for the next Angel Fire book.

I love Bent and Piper's story. Piper's idea to get Bent back in shape, behind his back, is genius. Insanity sounds amazing! I want to live there. I am enthralled by this series and looking forward to the rest of the guy's stories. I highly recommend the Angel Fire series.

So I love this author, and I love this series. But, this one didn't have the same punch as the others. Maybe Bent just didn't swoon me enough or the dynamic between Bent and Piper was not connecting on a deeper level... Relative to the other books in the series that is, this story/plot had a strange way around how the characters dealt with their "issues." **possible spoilers below, but I'll try to be vague*

Bent started out all depressed and super despondent, barely able to do daily tasks, then went all alpha Dom, then raged and Piper started out as a feisty fireball and went all sub. I get that that was the crux of the relationship they ended up having... But I just didnt feel like it worked. Or maybe that dynamic wasn't needed. They could have had a straight up alpha male, over protective Growly Bear and left it at that. Or the Dom getting topped by the fierce little pixie. Cause it never really got into the D/s anyway, just alluded to it. Plus, it's a strange dynamic to have past abuse and triggers but still go along with it or even want it. But who am I to judge how that shit works.

Then there were some minor inconsistencies that were bothersome. She had blue eyes at the beginning (shower scence) then later had green eyes. The band was supposed to be away doing various things ( Hawaii?), but all showed up in his room after the incident in the hallway. And then all the talk of his string of one nighters, never having anything more than groupies and in the beginning not having anyone at all.....But then on the beach he speaks as though he is knowledgeable of long term D/s relationships. If you've never had more than a week or two with one person...how do you know how to be the expert. I guess, the pieces just felt like they were part of different puzzles and the D/s side felt unnecessary and auxiliary that didn't add to the story. It actually deterred from the underlying struggles of losing his ability to play and feelings of worthlessness.

What I did love in this book, as I love in all the books, is the brotherhood of the band and their uniting as a solid front of support or as s kicking ...whatever is needed. And, of course Forest is such a quirky character. Ash is still my favorite though...

On that, Ash is always referenced as Ash and not Blaze even though the rest of the band is all referred to by their stage names. Why? Just wondering. And still no mention of baby...the guitar baby.

So overall, 4 stars cause I love the author's writing style...each scence is like a movie in my head and I got lost in the pages into the wee hours of the morning. Love that! But not a 5 cause aspects of the plot didn't connect for me. I was so moved and blown away by the depth of psychological trauma from book 2 and especially 1 that I was expecting or rather hoping it would go back to the darkness that burns you down and then the ultimate rising from the ashes.

What the heck was that? This book felt like it was all over the place. There were parts of it that were really good, but there were other things that just didn't belong or weren't needed.

Editing-wise, there were issues. At 74% in, a glaring error of using You're rather than Your. Not to mention, there were a couple places where Bent was referred to as Bash. That got confusing and annoying.

The story itself was great. I liked the premise, and I also enjoyed the VR usage to work as PT. It was a great twist on things.
But, there were other parts that were just not needed. What part does the Dom/sub part of their relationship play into things? It felt forced, and could have been left out altogether. It wasn't needed and didn't work for me.

I had a hard time feeling anything from these characters. I did feel the annoyance been them, but that's all. Then at the drop of a hat, he suddenly must have her and feels protective?
We never really got to know these characters, either. It is hard to feel for someone you don't know. Plus, I hate the fact that she just up and forgives him for leaving her. I wish either he makes more effort to apologize or she makes him work for it. It just felt like she was a doormat.

This was my least favorite in the series so far. I'm holding out for a later book, though. Hopefully I am not repeatedly disappointed before getting there, only to be disappointed again.

Ellie Masters continues the Angel Fire Rock series with the intensity of previous books. She makes us feel the anxiety, hopelessness and despair that Bent is experiencing in this well crafted story. Pixie's resolve and strength of character make her an easily character to identify with. I found this book to be an exceptionally sarisfying reading experience.

Bent's passion was taken away from him in the middle of a war zone on a bus. A broken arm rendered useless by multiple surgeries, metal plates and screws. He knew he'd never play again why hadn't everyone else gotten the memo? Enter one diminutive, perky, bossy physical therapist, Piper, who despite Bent's efforts, won't leave him alone. She's relentless in her quest to rehab his withered useless arm. In a moment of anger, Bent's does something that gives him shocking insight into Piper and her past. The door is now open for him to pursue his 'pixie' and have the type of relationship he craves. The question is, will Piper submit to his demands? Will Pixie be able to give Bent back his passion?

Oh man I loved Piper! She took no crap from Bent as his physical therapist. Forest is the one that hired her so no matter how many times Bent fires her she's not going anywhere. No matter what Bent does to push her away, she just pushes back.

When Forest shows Piper what he's working on with his VR team she comes up with an idea. An idea that is brilliant and Bent doesn't know. What happens when Bent finds out, she's been kind of tricking him. Will he be bent out of shape and get furious or will he be dumbfounded what she's done for him.

What happens when they find out that they like the same thing in the bedroom? Will they be able to stay out of the bedroom or will they find themselves in there doing things that have really nothing to do with physical therapy? Will Bent make it through physical therapy being as good as he was on the bass or did he lose it all on that road when their bus hit an IED?

Man I loved the push and pull of Bent and Piper and of course as all of the other books in the series the chemistry is off the charts!!!

Bent was hurt in an accident I'm Afghanistan when they were touring . He goes home and is not trying very hard to get better. Piper is his physical therapists and he fires and she keeps coming back. It's a push and pull with these two. When he loses something very dear to her she tries to find and he is told to help her by Forrest. Where he learns something about and her past. When they start a relationship and she is trying to help him his hand can they keep it professional agent the times call for it? Will Piper and the Band be able to save him from himself and what he feels is not working?
Very Emotional, this book will make you cry and laugh and get mad. Each page is filled with heat and steam and twist and turns. It brings back the band members and Skye and Tia . Amazing read can't wait to read what she has next

So Many Errors In This Book

I was surprised to find so many errors in this book. It's unusual for Ellie Masters to make so many mistakes. Things like using phase when clearly faze was intended, leaving words out of sentences and numerous typos. Then, there was the really bad error of getting the eye color of her character wrong. In the beginning of the book, on page 6, Ellie writes that Piper's eyes are a cornflower blue. But then, later, she writes that Bent stared into her impossibly gray-green eyes. Well, which is it? Again, so unlike Ellie to make mistakes like this. I enjoyed the story nonetheless, but I hope she either gets a better editor or pays more attention because stuff like that really distracts me when I'm reading and pulls me out of the story.

I’m hooked on this series, even though there are things that annoy me: why is every member of the band into D/s ? It seems unlikely unless Ellie Masters believes that the sexual proclivities of all five band members are what brought them together somehow.

With this third book in the series, we have the third heroine with a history of abuse who likes submitting despite being forced to do so by evil foster fathers. Again, coincidence? The author makes it somewhat believable by linking all of the women to the same vigilante rescue operation. Ok. If that’s what we’re going with, I want to know more about this operation. How do they find kids being sexually abused by foster parents? Why do they all know each other? Is there a safe house somewhere? This is why I’m hooked.

Love this series

This series is a must read for All. Yes some of the subjects are a bit touchy but they are addressed beautifully. Piper and Bent’s story is definitely my favorite to date. He suffered a horrific injury to his hand forcing him to not be able to perform. Piper was sent to rehabilitate him. However, they wound up helping one another heal and each other’s biggest supporters. I cannot wait for more.

I love this series, love the characters. Some of the other authors I've read seem to make the male and female characters the same throughout their series, just different story and names and halfway through the series I'm tired of it and move on to something else. This series ROCKS! Every story is new and interesting, every character is unique and I have trouble putting the books down, on my lunch break, bedtime, etc. I just want to keep reading! I don't want it to end!

Not my cup of tea!

Taking an already traumatized and abused young girl and grooming her to become your sex slave is not love. Bent is addicted to sex. There is a difference between possession, obsession ownership, and love. There is a difference between having sex to chase orgasms and making love. Love is not domineering. It's cherishing. A man focuses on her needs not his own.

Good read.

I love the dynamics of the band and the way they look out for each other. The Dom/sub part kinda threw me off though. Bent seemed so depressed and despondent and then went all Alph male on Piper. His personality changes were hard to relate to. Maybe if there had been more of a back story on these 2 characters it would have been easier to accept. Overall it’s a good series and I will continue on to the next book.

Once again, Ellie Masters has taken us on a journey of pain, sorrow, dedication, devotion, fear, discovery and love and added an inference of BDSM. Each book in this series bring it's own pieces of history and this one is no exception. But as the pieces are fit together, the storytellers become a closer knit family that you can't help but be a part of. I can hardly wait to read the next one.
