Her handsome boss has just been turned into a vampire!
What’s a girl to do when her office crush finally asks her out on a date…but then promptly gets himself bitten by the undead? Just sit back and watch him transform into a monster? Or fight to bring him back into the light?
Twenty-four-year-old Lucy Booth is a mild-mannered executive assistant with a major crush on her boss, Aaron Ames. When the nerdy but adorable middle-manager finally asks her out for pizza one night, she’s thrilled. And when he turns up at the office the next day looking clammy and complaining of being sick, she assumes he either has the flu, or he’s been out partying too hard the night before.
But then she notices his newly acquired aversion to sunlight and the two puncture wounds on his neck…and he tells her he’s been bitten by a vampire.
Not just bitten, but turned.
Lucy knows she can’t simply abandon the man of her dreams to immortality as a bloodsucking nosferatu. She has to turn him back! But how?
Thankfully, her best friend, spunky bookseller Jessica Ramos, is up for the challenge. With her help, Lucy quickly discovers that vampire bites, while rare, are not as uncommon as one might hope. Particularly in the Houston suburbs. Teaming up with other victims—both recent and long past—of the undead, the women embark on a quest to cure Lucy’s man.
Soon, Lucy finds herself battling malevolent forces she’d never before imagined might exist in real life. It’s easily the scariest and most unexpected thing she’s ever done, but it will all be worthwhile if she can rescue Aaron from the clutches of darkness and prevent him from spending eternity as a servant of evil.
If she can save him from succumbing forever to the wicked aftereffects of THE SHARPEST KISS.
…And if they can finally go out for that pizza.

To those who know me, it comes as no surprise that I have always been a sucker for a good story involving witches, werewolves, vampires, or the usual cast of creatures that go bump in the night. The Sharpest Kiss, by Elizabeth Myles, was a fun ride to the dark side of the moon. I liked the storyline and appreciated a mixture of subplots with a surprising alliance between paranormal characters. I also liked how it ended with just enough spice to keep me yearning for more. I will definitely look to continue reading as the series continues. A solid 4.60 rating.
A great romantic vampire book with just the right amount of action, romance, character development and plot to leave you feeling thoroughly satisfied and eager for more. This book could have ended after the big scene (no spoilers) but instead the author really took the time to delve into the characters development afterwards and in doing so has really set up a great series of characters and issues.
I wanted to give a one star, but there were a couple of moments in just a couple of scenes that I thought to myself... ok, that wasn’t bad but they were limited and far between each other and maybe lasted a few paragraphs to a page.
The best way I can describe this book is... have you ever read an email where the entire thing consisted of one paragraph and in that one paragraph they covered five different topics? Or had a child tell you a story where they went, “and then this happened, and then this too. Oh yeah I can’t forget about all of this stuff over here...Oh you want more detail on that area, nah I don’t think it’s important, but here’s more detail about something else you may not care about!” That’s how this book felt to me.
I also don’t know why I was supposed to care about any of these characters. They were not believable and there were too many for this type of book and with limited and scattered detail.
I really enjoyed this take on the traditional vampire romance story. I also enjoyed the humor in it. I immediately bought the next two books in the series so I could finish it.
I won this book on Good reads for an honest review (Kindle version).
I absolutely loved this book. It is a fun read with twists and jabs and yes...I am going to say it thrusts. The characters are well defined and exciting to read about. The scenery is fitting and the story is both fun and ensnares you. I look forward to reading more about these characters and from this author.
The Sharpest Kiss -- Lucy just wants her cute boss to ask her out when he gets bitten by a vampire! Fun Buffy vibes! If you like paranormal romance, you will like this! Happy Reading!
Vampires, romance oh my! This is such a fun read! Lucy Booth and her BFF, Jessica Ramos, are funny & quirky. Lucy has a big crush on her boss, Aaron, who is bitten by a vampire. The girls go looking for answers and find other victims & hopefully find a cure for Aaron. Thanks to the author for an ebook copy.
This was such a great book! It was funny, sweet, & sexy! Laughed aloud so many times! Loved the characters — well developed! Starting the next book, as I can’t wait to find out what’s in store for Jessica & Nathan!
This was a fun read, with a lot of heart woven into it. I particularly enjoyed the flowing dialogue between the main group of characters. It seemed natural and not forced. I also appreciated how once united in their shared goals, they were all quite proactive in achieving them.
Thanks to the author and Goodreads for a Kindle copy of this book!
Sometimes I request giveaways for books I typically don't read, as I like trying new things. This was definitely one of those, as I don't really read romance! While I like vampire fiction, I'm pretty picky about it and feel that it's hard to do well as the market's become so saturated, especially post-Twilight. This take on the vampire mythos certainly isn't reinventing the wheel, but it's enjoyable enough if you're a fan of paranormal fantasy. (I'm not.)
Unfortunately this book was not for me - a bit light on character development and heavy on wish fulfillment for my taste, but if you enjoy lighthearted paranormal romance with some spice and HEAs all around (mostly) The Sharpest Kiss would be right up your alley. There's lots of romance (duh, as Jessica would say) and a good dose of adventure, although not a lot of diversity - I think one character is Latinx? And as everyone was kind of generic, I had difficulty distinguishing the characters at times as mostly everyone had mainstream, two-syllable names and there were three main couples as well as a decent number of side characters. Which one was Nathan, Jason, or Aaron again? And, for a romance novel, it's very, um, clean.
If I was into the genre I could see myself liking the book more, but it's just not my cup of blood. That's not to say that I didn't enjoy it and I don't regret spending a couple of days with it. It was fun enough.
Lucy admires her boss from afar as he takes out beautiful women. Yet, he hangs around her sometimes. There’s an unspoken attraction. Then the unthinkable happens. He’s attacked! By a vampire! Lucy runs to her friend Jessica, owner of a romance bookstore, for help, since a lot of the books in her store involve vampires. Luckily enough, Jessica seems to actually know a vampire! Then they find out that the husband of one of Jessica’s former classmates has also been bitten by the same vampire. Cue the whirlwind hunt for the master vampire and the steamy attraction between Lucy and Aaron, as well as between Jessica and her vampire neighbor Nathan.
This novel starts off a little shaky with the promotional vampire book at the romance bookstore but picks up speed after the vampire attack. Steamy scenes are written well. I don’t like how it jumps perspective sometimes. Also, Lucy’s over organization is talked about a lot at the beginning but doesn’t have a huge impact on the book at all. Also, I feel like the book should have ended before it did. Leave the partial vampire girl for a sequel. And I feel like Aaron’s inheritance requirements cheapened things.
This has a cute storyline. It is Lucy and Aaron's story while introducing you to Nathan and Jessica. It is not too gory with humor in between the lines.
Goodreads giveaway winner. A fairly predictable multi-couple vamp fic. It was okay. Quick, easy read. It felt a little crowded at times and is a set up for a series.
