Moonlight Detective Agency #2

Diamond In The Rough

Rate this book

The secret world is being hidden by a vampire hundreds of years old - and her human frat-boy apprentice.

He might shape up to be an asset. If she doesn't kill him first.

Between setting up the office and hiring new preternatural staff, with some surprising...talents, Taylor tasks Remy with a new case.

She assumes he will stick to her instructions.

But this is Remy.

Reformed frat boy. Low compliance. With a desperate need to prove himself...

Of course, he won’t stick to the plan.

So when things heat up with the dwarven cartel - and the preternatural world order hangs in the balance - it'll take everything Taylor has to prevent the city of NY being exposed to all she's managed to kept secret for centuries.

Will Taylor decide that Remy needs to take the final nap for the benefit of everyone? Will everything go up in a Frat-Boy blaze of glory?

What happens when Remy starts to get a clue?

Hi, my name is Isobella Crowley... but only my mum calls me Isobella. Everyone else calls me Izzie.

And yes, I said mum, not mom - which tells you I'm from England. Bicester (near Oxford) to be exact. Like Scarlett in "A Very British Witch".

I also love all things Wiccan and magical. I taught myself how to use tarot cards when I was 8. Also learned a bunch about astrology, so it seemed only natural that I'd end up writing about a girl who finds out she's a Wiccan by descent, and spends her free time in a real life magical book shop.

The wine shop she works in is based on an adorable little vintners in Eton... just the other side of the bridge from Windsor. If you ever visit there, be sure to check it out. The guy who owns it knows EVERYTHING about wine. And he's kinda cute.

Ok, that's a little about me. I'm also on facebook, and would love to connect with you. Hope you enjoy reading these stories!

This second book in the series got off to a great start, as Remy - better known as the rapscallion David Remington, a younger son of a very rich family, and better known for throwing parties so wild, that they've become renowned for the scale of the damage caused - is determined to be better at his new place of work than Taylor is, despite all the evidence to the contrary!

Remy really is trying to get better, even though his decisions lead to him being attacked in broad daylight, and nearly killed by someone with superhuman strength and speed.

But, despite Taylor warning him off the case, he's determined to find out who it was that attacked him, and why.

Despite Taylor warning him of the risk, and the fairy, Riley, trying her best to keep him safe, and out of trouble, Remy is soon well over his head IN trouble, and it will take a miracle, or Taylor, to rescue him from it!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and really love the way that Remy is determined to improve himself, even when being used as bait by Taylor.

Remy really is determined to make the Agency better, and to be considered as an equal partner to Taylor, even though he knows that's going to be very hard to achieve.

And he is slowly, but surely, becoming the man he thinks he should be, and is also gathering friends, and more clues, along the way!

I really want to go straight on to book three: A Girl's Best Friend, and so I'm going to, before it gets too late to start reading it (it's past midnight already), so I'll see you on the flip side, to let you know what I think of book three!

Dry fun sophomore effort

Quick moving and fast paced - a bit of unpleasant horror but not too much- and the reformation of the rake proceeds well - good new characters seedy bits of NYC and full size fairies - way fun

Fun

Taylor is a powerful Vampire. Remy is a semi reformed playboy in trouble with his family. Together they run an investigation agency. They keep order in the supernatural world. Remy often gets in trouble having deviated from Taylor's lead. The beautiful Fairy, Riley, fortunately tends to bail him out. I like the action and humor. The plot kept my attention throughout. I look forward to the next book.

Extra musing by Authors

Sometime, I got confused by Ellie's book: did I come here for the story or was it the random rambling of the Authors Note? The story is strong and guaranteed to suck you out of the real life. But the Authors Note was kind of bending what you thought as your real life into a Gordian Knot style pretzel.

Buy this book!

I really enjoy reading, no really I do. Some books are good others so-so. Then you get a new series that you just know from the jump is going to be ?? Beyond! This series is Beyond in the making! I love it. If you like read give the first two books a shot, you'll love them. I hope the plan is 8 to 12 books. Nuff said ✌👍

Will childishness and stupidity prevail?

Remy, has his feelings hurt and he responds typically... like a toddler. Finding himself as bait for the minion of a powerful vampire, Remy charged into danger, as thoughtlessly as a first grader filled with visions of glory. Can Riley the beautiful fairy save him from himself? A good read.

Worth reading

Books by this author are always worth reading. This series , so far , is no exception. Ms. Clarke is a talented , intelligent writer and her novels reflect this. There were a few editing mistakes , but not enough to detract from a five star review.

Also , 're a d her authors notes. They're simply incredible !

Love this series

Great starter story. Man learning how to grow up and accepting his limitations. Learning that money does not solve anything and he is not invincible. Learning to appreciate others.
