The characters in fenta's work are moved by emotions that they cannot express or fully comprehend. These three vignettes each revolve around something that seems to be just out of reach, but vital.

This book is part of Paradise Systems' series of contemporary lianhuanhua.

fenta is a cartoonist and artist based in Beijing. His two central series of work are Afu and Bad Boy Diaries. His comics address the relationships with oneself, with others, and with life.

Comprised of three short vignettes, Lost Things evokes a wistful and melancholic ambience as the characters try to connect or comprehend their conditions. Each story is just a few short pages, told in full landscape panels, so there isn't much to parse. But it works well enough to capture the design aesthetic of classic linahuanhua, so I'd go into this just appreciating a celebration of a novel comics format and the ethereal tone to each piece. Plus, fenta's artwork is worth appreciating, particularly his expert use of soft toned watercolors.

Beautiful images with a nice melancholy tone. I really like the one panel per page format!
