Psalms of the Bible: The Songs of Scripture in Both Contemporary and Classic Form

Rate this book
Psalms of the Bible features the entire book of Psalms as well as other poems and songs of worship from the Bible in both their contemporary and classic forms. A beautifully-presented single-column format highlights the poetic nature of these songs. The inclusion of the psalms in their contemporary form (Christian Standard Bible®) with an accompanying classic translation (King James Version) ensures a rich and reflective immersion into God’s Word. Also included is an introduction article by Keith and Kristyn Getty on why the Church needs the psalms.

Features Include: Flexible LeatherTouch® cover style, full text of Psalms and additional songs and prayers of worship from the Bible in CSB and KJV translations, introduction article by Keith and Kristyn Getty, presentation page, single-column text, easy-to-read type, black-letter text, ribbon marker, smyth-sewn binding, and more.

Psalms of the Bible features the highly readable, highly reliable text of the Christian Standard Bible® (CSB). The CSB stays as literal as possible to the Bible's original meaning without sacrificing clarity, making it easier to engage with Scripture's life-transforming message and to share it with others.

Psalms of the Bible also features the authorized version of the King James translation (KJV). The KJV is one of the bestselling versions of all time and captures the beauty and majesty of God’s Word for those who love the rich heritage and reverent language of this rendering of the Holy Bible.

Keith and Kristyn Getty occupy a unique space in the world of music as modern hymn writers, international worship leaders, and conference speakers. Perhaps best-known for the modern hymn, “In Christ Alone” (written by Keith with Stuart Townend and performed by Keith and Kristyn), the Gettys have reinvented the traditional hymn form and created a catalog of songs teaching Christian doctrine and crossing the genres of traditional, classical, folk, and contemporary composition. Keith and Kristyn live between Northern Ireland and Nashville with their daughters, Eliza Joy, Charlotte, and Grace.

I enjoyed the Christian Standard Bible translations of the "songs" or "poetry" in the Bible. It's mostly Psalms 1-150 with other Old and New Testament selections, a nice feature, though it omits the poetical sections of Job and the other poetical books.

I did not read the second half, which is repeating the same in the King James Version.
