This Is This Country: The official book of the BAFTA award-winning show

Listen up chumps, basically the Vicar asked us to edit the parish newsletter this month, we weren't gonna do it at first cos the vicar said 'I want you to channel your energy into doing something creative', which he knows brings back Kurtan's PTSD cos our old woodwork teacher Mr Perkins used to say it to him all the time, and when Kurtan actually DID channel his energy into something creative he managed to sand down some MDF to make a back scratcher and Darren Lacey pointed at it and laughed and called it an 'abomination to woodwork', which made Kurtan throw a chair across the room in rage and one of the chair legs hit Rob Robinson and left a dent in his forehead.

So we decided to write this newsletter cos people need to the know the REAL s*** that goes down in our village, it ain't just fetes and duck races you know - it's proper f***** up.

All the best,

Kerry and Kurtan

p.s. Kurtan wants to make it clear that although this newsletter is in book format it does not make him any of the following:

Book Worm
Book bummer
Boffin
Nerd alert
The lion, the witch and the book worm

p.p.s If you don't buy this newsletter that's fine, but we are getting a percent of the profits to donate to the Kerry Mucklowe eating fund, so if you don't buy it I'll basically starve. Which is fine if your conscience can deal with that utter headf***.

I also agree that everything went from bad to worse in England after Woolworths closed down.

I rarely choose to read a comedy because if they fail to make you laugh it really can be tragic. But THIS is honestly hilarious. Ridiculous to the point I just find myself thinking ‘how on earth do they come up with these things?’. I thoroughly enjoyed the series and the book was a bonus. I listened to this on audible and I would recommend this because the delivery of the jokes had me desperately trying to contain my laughter on a packed train on my commute. Cannot recommend enough

Exactly what you expect. Incredibly funny and ridiculous in equal measure. Again, I had the audiobook version so was treated to it being read in character, which brings it utterly to life. It is the perfect edition to the series, and my particular favourite was the glimpse into the life of Sue, Kerry’s mum.

Very funny book with extra bits not in the show. I got given this as a birthday present and hadn't got round to reading it but I'm so glad I did. It made me chuckle 😂

As someone who absolutely adores This Country, as soon as I heard about this book I was absolutely ecstatic! I love reading companion books to my favourite shows and this one definitely didn’t disappoint.

I found this completely hilarious and the perfect source of escapism, just like the TV show. If you enjoy realistic, heart warming and fun comedy, This Country is definitely something you should check out! - 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

A stunning piece of literary excellence, from Kerry’s musings on the demise of Toys R Us (“What the fu*k is that giraffe gonna do for work now?”), to Mandy’s dog letters, Sue’s origin story, and the tale of Vicar and Bert Jan.

It’s richly designed, peppered with lovely details both textual and visual, and perfectly captures the spirit of the much-missed series.

Bloody hilarious!! I’m a big fan of the show and this did not disappoint. Lots of great bits with different villagers. My only criticism is it wasn’t long enough! Haven’t laughed out loud to a book like this for ages.

If you're in the market for a mild book that includes a vicar's poem about a tadpole and story about a woman writing letters to her sponsor dog at the Dogs Trust then this is the one for you!

As funny as the show, a good short listen. Enjoyed the tales around the village and Mandy's letters to the dogs trust 😂
