Dybbuk Spirits

Rate this book
PROLOGUE In Jewish mythology, there was a tale about mythical demons called Dybbuk Spirits. Their story was passed down from generation to generation within families. The Dybbuk Spirits would take over the bodies of dead people until they could accomplish their goals. The goals could be whatever the Dybbuk Spirits needed to achieve. Throughout the years, different stories were told about what the Dybbuk Spirits would do. These tales were always evil. The Dybbuk Spirits never died out or rested even for a generation and they grew in numbers. Their intentions continued to get more and more wretched over time, which leads us to the year 2076 A.D. The Dybbuk Spirits are stronger than they have ever been. When they take over a dead body, the objective has become to kill a living body for another Dybbuk Spirit. Centuries ago, the Jewish people thought if they stopped sharing the stories about the Dybbuk Spirits they might go away. Unfortunately, that idea didn’t work. Very few humans are left that still know about the ancient Jewish tale. The humans that witness the Dybbuk Spirits and live to tell about it, simply call the Dybbuk Spirits monsters. Some liken them to vampires or zombies until they realize they cannot be killed in similar manners. DESCRIPTION Liesel is a 19 year old girl who has the gift of visions. These visions have always proven true. She found a young boy named Auden and his dog Bowie. They were left abandoned because Auden’s parents were killed by a monster, one of the Dybbuk Spirits. Liesel began to love him, to care for him and to show him how to survive. Then his Uncle Torben, who is also his godfather, showed up to take him to a settlement. Problems emerged as Auden didn’t want to leave Liesel behind. More difficulties ensued when they met a man that Liesel wanted to bring to the settlement with them. His name was Quillan. He knew about the Dybbuk Spirits. Will they all make it to the settlement, and will the settlement turn out to be a safe place for them? These questions and so much more will be answered when you read Dybbuk Spirits.

'Dybbuk Spirits by Kimmey Fitts' is a fantasy fiction based upon a demon in Jewish mythology. Set in a dystopian world where people believe in myths more than reality.
--
Liesel, a 19 year old girl finds Auden and his dog abandoned in a house and series of events starts to unfold. Liesel decides to take care of Auden and falls in with him. But a danger of Dybbuk Spirits being awakened is upon everybody living among there.
The book is really intriguing and I like how fear, fantasy and dystopia is mixed together in the story line. Liesel is a strong willed character and so does Auden to some extent. He doesn't want to lose her side when his uncle tries to take him back.
The book is a perfect example that we should explore the unexplored. I really like the retelling of Jewish mythology story.
You can also consider this book under category of Zombie fiction as well.

Writing and narration are really gripping. I have reviewed author's novella, Vampire Salvatore, and in it i found criticism in dialogue writing. This book written around that time as well has this small criticism, but it can be avoided as far as the story line is great as this book.
Overall, it's a great weekend binge read.

A vampire can be killed with a stake in their heart, zombies can be killed by destroying their brains. But can the Dybbuk Spirits be killed? If yes, how?

Dybbuk Spirits by the author Kimmey Fitts is a fantasy fiction based on the demons in the Jewish mythology. The story is about 19 years old Liesel who has the gift of visions. She found a boy Auden whose parents were killed by the Dybbuk Spirit. Will Liesel and Auden be saved till last or the Dybbuk Spirit will kill them to take over their bodies? Who is the godfather and how is he related to Auden? Read this interesting story to get answers to your questions.

I liked the quotes from famous personalities that have been used at the start of chapters.

This is really a different storyline that I have read. Overall, it's a good book and I strongly recommend this to dystopian lovers. Reading this book was a unique experience for me.

QOTD - Do you believe in ghosts, monsters, demons, vampires, zombie, etc?

Dybbuk Spirits is a dystopian fantasy fiction by Kimmey Fitts. The story is set in a dystopian world. The story is about the mythical demons known as Dybbuk Spirits according to Jewish mythology.

The protagonist of the story is a 19 year old girl Liesel who was blessed with visions. She found a boy named Auden with a dog Bowie. As Liesel and Auden spent time together, they got attached.

One day when Auden's uncle Torben or you can say his godfather came to take away Auden, he didn't want to leave Liesel. Read the story to know what happened ultimately.

The story telling skill of the author is appreciated. The story was intriguing and I couldn't put the book down until I finished reading it. This is the first time that I have read dystopian and I really liked the overall story.

I have to say, I don't like anything creepy, zombie, undead-like, and I normally wouldn't choose to read stories like this. However, since I have read several books from this author now, I thought I would give this one a try too. I think it is my favorite one yet, even though I hate open endings. ;) It kept me reading from start to finish, always wanting to find out what would happen next. I loved the developing love stories and how strangers become family. It was a great plot, quick-changing but always kept interesting. I look forward to reading part two.

What if you come across a news where monsters are eating people and turning living human beings into a monster?

Dybbuk Spirits is a mythological tale about demons called "Dybbuk Spirits or monsters".

Liesel who had this gift of vision which was passed down to her from her mother. She could see past as well as future happenings just by being at the location by feeling energies. For some time she felt it to be a curse until she knew how to perfectly use it. She saw her own mother turning into a monster and she couldn't do anything but escape from there to save herself.

Auden who was only 6 years old lost his parents or may be they turned into monster. His mother left Bowie, their dog with Auden to take care of.

Torben, uncle of Auden comes to take his nephew when he finds Auden with Ms Liesel. What was she doing there? How these three individuals are even connected with the story?

It's a story of survival, myths, love, care and death. How these individuals will survive by hiding themselves from monsters? Who will save them? For how long they will hide?

Writing style is lucid and for me it was an unputdownable book. Everything that was taking place in the story was going in my mind visually. I really liked how well the author penned down every character by writing down all the details. I loved the relation of Auden and Bowie so much because of the perfect narration done by the author.

This is the first book in the series but this book is enough to admire the work of author as I am completely fan of her after reading this. I have never read anything like this. I was completely blown away with the narration and story.

Highly recommended to each and everyone who would love to read a story like this.

Dybbuk Spirits is a dystopian novel by Kimmey Fitts and the first book in the series.
I loved this book, once I started to read it I couldn't put it down.
Granted it has a very slow beginning but once it gets into the action, it's pretty amazing.
Liesel is a bad ass character and reminds me a lot about Aaelin (From T.O.G.) and I always love female empowered storylines. The things she has to endure and do deserve an applause.
I loved all the other characters as well (if I go into it there will be too many spoilers).
My only criticism is maybe the beginning part could use a bit of content editing because it didn't hook me from the start and could be a put off to other readers.
Dybbuck Spirits are part of a real Jewish mythology so to see it come to life in a book is brilliant.
Definite read for dystopian lovers.

All the characters are well penned. The author's narration are really good. It takes us on a fantasy world. AN EXCITING READ FOR ANYBODY

So I picked up this book out of my curiosity that I developed by reading the blurb and I totally felt satisfied by the story inside.
Dybbuk Spirits is a story which revolves around demons spirits which are there to crush each and everyone coming their way and turning them into someone like them. For ages, people thought that if they would stop talking about the Dybbuk, they will vanish but things turn out to be totally different when Liesel finds Auden and his dog Bowie hidden in a room inside their house. They have been hiding from days. Nobody's left except Auden and his dog. Liesel wants to take all of them to a safe place but will it turn out to be that easy for them?

This story will instil the fear of what will happen next and how will they survive. You will keep on turning pages to know the next thing. Every chapter starts with a beautiful quote and I loved that. Also, the bee angle to the story is wonderful. It is an effort by the author to link it to today's context too. This book is one piece of an entertaining read written in a very simple language that even a first-time reader will enjoy. Recommended.

This one is a page turner! Great dialogue. Relatable, likeable characters. Fast-paced. Electrifying romance.

I like that a woman is depicted as strong and capable, and that the message that women can handles themselves is done without being obvious, overstated, or shoved down our throats. I like that she’s also loving and motherly, despite the dangerous, unpredictable circumstances. I really appreciate the complexity of her character. Auden is precocious and such a sweetheart. He has to grow up fast, and I’m glad that he’s not alone. For an action, thriller, it also has good amounts of romantic angst that will have you laughing as you remember “those days.” I don’t want to give too much away, so I’ll stop here.

💞Omg, this was such an adventure filled read, it's so scary at times. The book revolves around some of the most scariest characters along with a strong plotline. When I picked this book, I wasn't sure about how it would go but it's so gripping and spine chilling at the same time. I am in complete awe, the characters are so well built. This would be a perfect read for someone who loves twists, secrets, demons and mystery! It is brutal at times, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Go for it.
