Queen Takes Jaguars: Mayte has spent the last century increasing her power as queen of House Zaniyah by calling more Blood to her side. She loves her jaguar protectors, but even her alpha hasn't been able to give her a child. Without a daughter to continue the queendom, their line - and the Zaniyah power - will die out. She needs a god to sire her daughter, and for a queen who calls jaguars as Blood...only one god will do.
Queen Takes Darkness: Helayna Ironheart doesn't know where she is, or how long she's been trapped in the darkness. She only knows pain and horror when her captor feeds on her suffering. Her only hope is to access her power as an Aima vampire queen. But how can she call her guardian Blood, when she's trapped in an alternative dimension at the bottom of the world tree?
Queen Takes More: A collection of Their Vampire Queen short stories.
About the Book: Shara Isador established herself and her court as a force to be reckoned with. But work’s not done yet, as she continues to do what she did from the start – collect the most feared, the most dangerous, most unwanted of Bloods, and make them hers, giving them home and love. Life goes on in House Isador.
My Opinion: I guess what I wanted was some kind of ultimate throne, a big fat crown, something to mark Shara as having taken over. But, genuinely, can’t complain anyway. Despite filled with mythological monsters, these books were a safe harbor, where I could trust no one would die for the sake of the plot, and that everything would end good in the end. Characters, as they are, feel evolved enough from book one, and plot had a very clear, solid arc to it. So, all in all, my biggest complaint is that I would’ve liked another book.
ALWAYS LOVE ANYTHING JSB or Shara F-ing Isador 💖💖 loved these short stories and cannot wait to continue reading the other books .... AHH can't explain how much I love this series
This short novella was mostly what I would have expected from the author. I think that it ended too abruptly though. There was also a slight BDSM tone to the story that I don’t think quite worked. It was written very vaguely. I did however enjoy learning all that Mayte went through to find a father for her child.
Cassandra Myles especially rocked with the narration on this one. I absolutely love that she chose to give Mayte’s internal dialogue an accent. Unfortunately when Tristan James didn’t do the same it bugged me and made me want to mark him down.
I’m a bit confused at this one. Firstly this is considered a prequel yet isn’t correctly labeled as such. You’d only be aware of this if you looked up the story in different places since that label is inconsistently placed on it. Secondly it ends extremely abruptly. Like in the middle of a scene. Very strange and not cool. It should not have been included in this anthology as it’s only half of a story.
QUEEN TAKES MORE ~~Queen Takes It Out On Me~~ Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Heat Rating: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nice little “slice of life” story that takes place right after Shara and the gang get home to the nest following the events of QUEEN TAKES TRIUNE. It’s basically just a scene involving the “punishment” for Daire for some of his unwise actions. It was nice experiencing them unwinding. I was thrilled to get a more vivid group sex scene than the author usually writes.
Major bondage theme in this short story but the scene felt a bit flat to me. It was a M/F/M scene between the twins and Shara.
~~Queen Takes A Late Christmas~~ Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Heat Rating: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I liked this shortie a lot. The bulk of the story is a scene between Shara, Mayte and Vivian. Not only was it a typical slice of life story but it also tied in better with the main series than the other stories in this anthology. I also feel that the BDSM elements in the story seem more complete. However I must say that I found it strange that the mention of the story, PRINCESS TAKES UNICORN, was cut out of the audio when it is in the kindle version. There was no reason to take that sentence out. Although the story is written in a way that explains the happenings in the 🦄 story it’s definitely better if you’ve read Xochitl‘s story beforehand. After all, it’s only a chapter.
This story while important as far as Shara and the new guy connecting was also a bit pointless. They took a trip together and I’m not sure what they were supposed to get out of it.
Basically an collection of the Queens doing it :) which is a little too much.
Queen Takes Jaguars shows how Mayte came about with her God, alpha and her child, Xochitl. Princess takes unicorn was pretty good as well, and clearly it was about Xochitl and unicorns :)
Queen Takes Darkness is about Helayna, the Queen of the Underworld, which was briefly discussed in Queen Takes Tribune, when the Wolf King appeared in front of Shara and Shara helped them about Helayna Ironheart.
Queen Takes More, thought it would be a good conclusion to the series, but nope....it is literally a series of scenes in which Shara does it with her blood and her bonds with them, which is like dang... it be like that.... Each title was pretty obvious on whose the focus.
Overall though, it is a good little collection/short stories addition to the series
This collection of novellas was fighting a losing battle from the start. I felt kinda "meh" about the main book series and hated the sixth book, and I hate novellas/short stories as a format so it has to be exceptionally good for me to remotely enjoy it. This collection was not that. It felt super unnecessary and I was very bored.
Loved reading about mayete and the shorts where a nice adendum didnt finish the queen takes darkness since i read the whole iron druid series with ragnatok in the main plot i couldn't mix that with vampire queens and sex idk why but dnf that parts
I love queen takes a late Christmas it was so cute!!!!!! Xochitl is such a sweet baby. And also it had exactly the Shara, Vivian, and Mayte situation that was referenced but missing in Queen takes Triune
