If you are going to take the time to write a book, you should do the BARE MINIMUM to research the topic you are writing about.

This entire book - Angel - was the equivalent of that ridiculous scene in any movie where a HaCkEr is trying to break into a system, so button mashes for all of 10 seconds and then yells “We’re In!!!”

In Summary - either research the fuck out of the topic you are writing about and hire an expert to fact check for you OR stay in your lane.

This book was fucking embarrassing

The past doesn't always stay in the past.

Sometimes the past can bring pain and suffering to the present and mess up a person's future. For Jordan and Angel, Ghost and Wraith, and Shadow and Lyn, overcoming the past can hopefully lead to a future filled with answers, change, and love.

I loved these books. Each one is an action-packed romantic suspense with a different couple. If you like military romance with action, danger, romance and humour, you should read these Linear Tactical books.

Angel (Linear Tactical #4)
I liked Jordan and Gabe. Jordan was a wonderful woman who handled all the bad things life had thrown at her and still stayed kind to others. Gabe was great, but if he would quit jumping to conclusions he'd be much more likable. Their relationship and the struggles that Jordan faced kept me turning the pages and hoping for a happily ever after for these two. Angel had an absolutely wonderful ending. I sighed as I turned the last page.

Ghost (Linear Tactical #5)
In order to protect the man she loved, Grace let everybody believe she was dead for the last 6 years. But when members of their black ops team started dying, she had to find out who the killer was. Dorian was the only one she trusted to help her.

This was a fast-paced, dark suspense. Grace/Ray was as highly trained as Dorian, but that could be deadly for them both. Watching them track a killer had me on the edge of my seat hoping they would find the villain before anyone else was killed.

It wasn't an easy read. The things Ray went through, and Dorian's mental struggles, were heart-breaking. But the tight bond of the Linear Tactical team was inspiring.

This suspenseful military romance will keep you guessing to the end.

Shadow (Linear Tactical #6)
Heath Kavanaugh was working undercover for the FBI. It wasn't a glamorous position but as a janitor at Wyoming Commonwealth University he hoped to find out who was selling government secrets at the university. Lyn Norris was a very intelligent, shy woman who was working on her doctorate in linguistics. Heath had no idea she was his best friend's sister. Lyn liked being with Heath and that he didn't treat her like she might break, the way her father and brothers did. She was actually a very strong woman and wanted to prove it to them.

Heath knew this was a bad time to start a relationship but he couldn't let Lyn go. She was the first woman he'd ever connected with that way. For such a smart woman she wasn't very good at reading people. She didn't see herself as attractive or good enough for Heath. But he thought she was perfect. Even when he learned who she really was and knew his friend would not take this relationship well, he wouldn't let her go.

The ending was great! I loved how everything came together. There were plenty of secrets, action, twists, humour, and danger that will make you want to keep reading - well after bedtime.

WOW!! I loved each book in this series and they just kept getting better with each book.

Angel is a great story. I loved watching Jordan’s true self finally come to light with Gabe’s love and care for her. His guidance and bulldozing for her was great to read, sometimes it takes others to help show us our true worth in this world, and Gabriel did that for Jordan. I loved it.

Ghost was a tragically beautiful story. Dorian and Grace’s (Ray) story was full of tension, action, suspense and a beautiful story of two broken souls coming back together. These two deserve a happy ending with healing and the love of their Linear Tactical family can help them find that. Dorian has always been my favorite character in this series. His lone wolf character and attention to detail as well as his intensity drew me to him, and his story just carried that through. I still love him, and I hope he and will be in more of the series as it continues.

Shadow, wow! His story started out with a great intensity and ended with a sweet story. I loved it. Heath’s need to get answers drove him for so long. His unexpected help is what settled him. It seems that it’s always when you decide to stop looking that things become clearer and answer start coming to you from the least likely place.

I thought Ghost was my favorite because I had been waiting for Dorian’s story, but then I read Shadow and then Echo (see my review for Echo). I read all four books in a week and had such a Linear Tactical hangover I wasn’t what to read next. I pre-ordered Phoenix and Baby, but I wish I didn’t have to wait so long for them to come out. I give each of these books as well as the box set a 5-star review and encourage you to buy the series and read it! I hope you like it as much as I did!

4.25 stars:

ANGEL is the fourth instalment in Janie Crouch’s contemporary, adult LINEAR TACTICAL romantic suspense series focusing on a group of former Special Forces soldiers who own and operate Linear Tactical, an Oak Creek, Wyoming business specializing in survival skills, security and protection. This is twenty-three year old Jordan Reiss, and thirty-two year old former Navy SEAL and owner of Collingwood Technology Gabriel ‘Angel’ Collingwood’s story line. ANGEL can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion.

NOTE: Some of the events in ANGEL run parallel to, and cross over with some of the events in book three-SHAMROCK.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Jordan and Gabriel) ANGEL follows the acrimonious relationship between twenty-three year old Jordan Reiss, and thirty-two year old former Navy SEAL and owner of Collingwood Technology Gabriel ‘Angel’ Collingwood. Eight years earlier Jordan’s world imploded when her sole surviving parent, Michael Reiss, scammed the town of Oak Creek Wyoming out of their retirement savings. Two years later, working several jobs to stay afloat our heroine is sentenced to six years for the death of a mother and child caused when she fell asleep at the wheel of her car. Fast forward to present day wherein Jordan returns to Oak Creek, Wyoming in an attempt to start over. Jordan, now persona non grata and the town pariah becomes the target of many twisted and unforgiving minds including former Navy SEAL Gabriel Collingwood, who is desperate to protect his sister, the woman who hired Jordan at the local bakery shop. What ensues is the building but tempestuous relationship between Jordan and Gabriel, and the fall-out as issues of trust, betrayal, lies and secrets continue to send Jordan’s life spiralling out of control.

ANGEL is a story of betrayal, forgiveness, greed and love. The premise is heart breaking and powerful; the characters are energetic and dynamic but flawed; the romance is gritty and raw. ANGEL is an impassioned and emotional story of one woman’s struggle to move on from the past.

•••••••

GHOST is the fifth instalment in Janie Crouch’s contemporary, adult LINEAR TACTICAL romantic, suspense series focusing on a group of former Special Forces soldiers who own and operate Linear Tactical, an Oak Creek, Wyoming business specializing in survival skills, security and protection. This is government agent Dorian ‘Ghost’ Lindstrom, and agent Grace ‘Wraith’ aka Ray Brandt’s story line. GHOST can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Dorian and Grace aka Ray) GHOST follows in the wake of Grace Brandt’s return from the dead. Six years earlier Grace Brandt died trying to save the man that she loved but in doing so led Dorian Lindstrom straight into the arms of the enemy, an enemy that tortured and broke our story line hero. Fast forward to present day wherein Grace now known as Ray, has returned from the dead with news that not all is at it appears to be. The government sanctioned Black Ops group known as Project Crypt, a group of which Ghost, Wraith and the others once belonged, had gone rogue, and was working off the books in an attempt to dominate and control. What ensues us the rebuilding friendship and relationship between Ray and Dorian, and the potential fall-out as the truth is revealed, and Ray’s life hangs in the balance from sins of the past.

GHOST is a story of secrets, betrayal, vengeance and lies; second chances and forgiveness; retribution, power and revelations. The premise is intriguing and engaging; the romance is passionate; the characters are broken, spirited and intense.

•••••••••

SHADOW is the sixth instalment in Janie Crouch’s contemporary, adult LINEAR TACTICAL romantic suspense series focusing on a group of former Special Forces soldiers who own and operate Linear Tactical, an Oak Creek, Wyoming business specializing in survival skills, security and protection. This is Heath ‘Shadow’ Kavanaugh, and linguistics specialist Jacquelyn ‘Lyn Norris’ Zimmerman’s story line. SHADOW can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty although I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion as there is an ongoing premise throughout. There is a slight cross-over with the inclusion of characters from the author’s BREE AND TANNER romantic suspense series.

Told from several third person perspectives including Lyn and Heath SHADOW follows the search for a mole in the biomedical engineering department at Wyoming Commonwealth University. Heath Kavanaugh’s latest assignment comes from the FBI as they hunt for the person(s) responsible for ‘selling’ secrets about the latest government projects but Heath finds himself attracted to PhD undergrad Lyn Norris who will find herself targeted for something she knows nothing about. What ensues is the building relationship between Shadow and Lyn, and the potential fall-out as secrets are revealed, the past comes full circle, and our heroine finds herself in a precarious position when her life hangs in the balance as she struggles to uncover a secret code known to very few.

SHADOW is an action -packed story of family, friendships, betrayal and love; a story of secrets and lies, power and control. The premise is captivating and intriguing; the characters are sassy and colorful; the romance is seductive and sexy. SHADOW is an energetic and fast paced story of romance and suspense.

Another great set

The second set of Linear Tactical books and these are just as good (sometimes better) than the first set. All stories have great characters, twisty plots and great love without immaturity and overdramatics.

Good

This collection features books 4-6 in the Linear Tactical Series. Book 4, Angel, actually starts out running concurrently with book 3, and features the big brother and the employee of the heroine from that book.
Certain events are referenced, which assumes the reader has in fact read that book, so while this is a new, whole story, with a new couple, I recommend you read the preceding books in the series first.

Angel:
Gabe Collingwood and Jordan Reiss

Jordan Reiss has had a tough life. Since getting out of jail a few months ago, she has had to deal with a town that hates her, and not for her own crimes, but those of her father!
Gabe has had his share of issues too, but as a former Navy SEAL and the successful young CEO of his company, he finds himself wanting to protect those around him.
When Jordan went to work for his sister, he was suspicious of her, but when he realizes just how badly she has been treated, Gabe finds himself wanting to defend her.

**Although their first meeting doesn’t go well (you have to read Shamrock to see it), Gabe actually redeems himself fairly quickly, but has one or two relapses- you’d think he’d learn a bit quicker!
Jordan has had a really bad time of it, and honestly, despite what she did, she is a well written and sympathetic character. Her life has been far from easy, but she keeps on going.

Ghost:
Dorian Lindstrom and Grace/Ray Brandt (Wraith)

Dorian was a green beret, and is now one of the Linear Tactical team. A bad tour in Afghanistan has left him with PTSD and numerous issues relating to it, but his family-by-choice at Linear Tactical understand and work with him.
When a Wraith from his past turns up, he isn’t sure that he is not hallucinating, but there she is.
Grace Brandt once worked with Dorian undercover, until she discovered a terrible truth. Now she has been trying to find out the truth, and when she does, she knows that Dorian will hate her…

**This story, like the others, begins concurrently with its predecessor, and as such it makes far more sense when read in series order.
If you though Jordan’s story was bad, holy hell Dorian and Ray’s stories are even worse… and they only get worse as the story goes on. It’s by far the darkest story of the series so far, and touches on so many issues.

Dorian might be traumatized, but he’s horrendously strong.
Ray on the other hand, wow she is put through the wringer.
It’s a well written story, but I can’t say it was ‘good’ because so much that happened wasn’t. I’m hoping subsequent books will help!

Shadow:
Heath Kavanaugh and Lyn (Jacquelyn) Norris

Former special forces operative Heath was once a part of a secretive black ops group. Experimented upon, Heath has been changed in ways he doesn’t understand.
Tasked by an FBI Agent with finding the person responsible for selling military secrets, he runs into Lyn Norris, linguist extraordinaire and the little sister of his best friend.
Lyn has overcome a lot in life: the early death of her mother, overprotective father and brothers, and a rare heart condition, but finding herself neck-deep in one of her brother’s cases wasn’t what she expected, and the sexy protector who seems to find her irresistible is just the icing on the cake.
When danger comes calling, Heath’s past and present collide, and they’ll have to work together to find all the answers.

** This one starts a few months after Dorian and Ray’s story, but Heath’s story ties into theirs a lot, so they really need to be read in order if only because of that. We do see a little more closure for them, so that’s good.
Lyn is a fascinating character, and her introduction actually leads to several new characters for the series. She’s smart, and very independent, but while she makes a few mistakes (due mostly to insufficient information), she’s a smart cookie who knows her limits.
Heath is brilliant and attractive, traits he has used on many missions, but they aren’t nearly so helpful in this one.
Ultimately this story rounds out the Project Crypt story arc, and is a much lighter tale than the one that precedes it.

Any way you look at them though, all three of these stories were action packed, suspenseful and extremely entertaining reads.

Recommended for romantic suspense lovers.

It checks all the boxes it's intriguing , intense , Suspenseful ,full of love , danger , betrayal , secrets . It also has love , devotion , action . One heck of a rollercoaster ride . Ghost ( Dorian Lindstrom ) and Wraith ( Grace Brandt ) have been thru Hell and back Dorian thought Grace was killed in an explosion when he was capture by terrorists . Years later she sends him an interesting message . Together they and Linear Tactical must stop the killing and the masterminds behind their old black ops team . This story isn't a black or white story , alot of Ghost and especially Wraith's actions are in the gray zone . Wraith and Ghost will do everything and anything to protect and save each other . Jordan did not deserve the treatment she recieved or the high sentence she served, she was a very young girl fighting hard for survival against everything. All she wanted was her home and maybe someday someone who would love her and hold her. An accident is just that. What her dad did, was not on her. Gabe, I understood him being protective of his sister but he also gave off mixed signals at times which left me uncertain he was worthy of Jordan. Suspense, heartbreak and action right along with an emotionally charged story. I wanted to give Jordan a great big hug and a whole ton of love. Gripping.

The group these worked for in the past were cruel and twisted, they didn't care about the mind games or the people they used and the long term affects. For Ghost and Ray it's a nightmare they live with daily, it's a struggle and sadly gets worse. Harrowing, powerful and emotional story that has true love, suspense and action a plenty. It has a slight happy ending but this plot does continue to a point in Shadow's story as he was also part of the group and is what concludes the outcome. Fabulous characters who really break your heart but have you loving them hard. Great depth to them and plot and it grips and entices you into their world for the length of the book and then definitely had me wanting more

A Heart and Mind are at stake in this intrugue filled story, lots going on as the team race to solve the riddles and try to keep 2 very important people safe. Fascinating plot, it kept on giving right the way through. Wonderful interesting subject matter, charismatic characters. I was lost from the start, concentrating so hard time just slipped away while I was in this like a fly on the wall following wherever the plot led me. Great author, creating books with characters that have depth, honour and heart. Protection is their go to response, trust once given is forever. I'm going all the way with this series.

Angel Review: First let me say I like how each book overlaps from story to story. Things are brought up in previous books, then Janie Crouch fills in the story. There are really good things about Gabe, but there are some really bad things about Gabe. I don't like how he immediately jumps to conclusions, I get he's been hurt, but come on. I love his protective side, love of his sister and his loyalty. I have really been looking forward to Jordan's story. I found her strong, too understanding and really wants to do the right thing. My favorite scene his Gabe at the hospital with Jordan and Violet. This story brought a lot of tears to my eyes, for many reasons. In my opinion it took the town people to come around to Jordan if they really good people at heart. Janie Crouch gave me the suspense I was looking for especially at the end.

Ghost Review: In my opinion this is a very dark story. I thought Janie Crouch did a good of pointing my attention away from the killer, but I still had the feeling who the killer was and I was right. I also knew one of the people not to trust the minute they were introduced, at first I thought they might be the killer. I really didn't like the ending, I want more of a happy ending for Dorian and Ray, well I guess you can't everything you want. I like Dorian and how no matter what he has everybody's back, I also like how he knows his limitations. Ray is a little harder to like at the start, but once you know her story it's a little easier. I really felt Ray's struggle, Janie Crouch did a good job of conveying it for me. In my opinion Janie Crouch gave me the suspense and action I look forward to from her.

Shadow Review: In my opinion Shadow is full of suspense, action, danger, steam and even a little humor. I found this story intriguing. I found it interesting figuring out what was in Heath's head. I loved Heath he's smart intelligent, protective and his calming effect on Lyn. I loved Lyn she's intelligent and strong. I enjoyed Lyn's journey of growing and standing up to her overprotective father and brothers. I loved when the chips were down Rae and Dorian stepped up, even with it being hard.

I found this boxed set full of action, suspense and fun. I read on Kindle Unlimited.

Better and better

This set is part of the same series as the first set, but these three books follow a different story arc then the first. This story focuses on the secret ops organization and three of the agents that made it out.

All three books have a version of a HEA, but take incredibly different paths to get there. There is a fantastic blend of smarts, science, medicine and action along with romance throughout the set. There are clear connections via characters, town and company to the first set, but the focus is on different couples and different villains.

This should be read in order to fully understand the bad guys, the actions of the characters and couples. A great read and series!

Another fantastic collection of stories

This has been an intriguing, action packed, suspenseful, and mysterious series that everyone can enjoy. This set of stories was heartbreaking, tragic, brutal, and involved such evil and atrocities that were beyond horrendous. Luckily, the men and women of Linear Tactical are stronger, smarter, and more than capable of taking care of their unique family. It's certainly a series that everyone will want to read.
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.

Stellar story telling!

There are no favorites here. I loved each story. Angel was about Gabe and Jordan's antagonistic start that blossomed into a story of two who knew they had each others support through thick and thin. Ghost and Ray were friends who became more only to be separated for years, hunted, tortured, betrayed yet still found each other again. Shadow and Lyn were instantly attracted to one another but danger seemed to follow them from many different sources. They faced many obstacles on their journey to love.
Janie Crouch is an awesome writer.

I'm loving this series! It seems like its a refresher for me and each story is so different. I'm looking forward to Ghost's story next!

Ghost
I think this is my least favorite so far in this series. While some parts of it were good, I found some of it to drag and the ending felt erupt. I'm still planning on continuing with this series.

Shadow
I liked this one and how the heroine Lyn is unique in which she does Linguistics and has a heart condition. Story was okay for me.

Got my six?

Brothers in arms, if not in the true definition of the word, each Linear Tactical employee had each other's back. All of them have secrets and traumatic issues in their backgrounds and would do whatever it takes to help the other. These books all involve righting wrongs and saving lives, even their own.

Hard to put down

I enjoyed all these books. Each of the couples were interesting and special in their own way. Dorian and Ray waited so long for their HEA. Heath and Lyn had such a great connection with their love of languages. Her health condition added something extra you don’t often find in a romance book.

Good read

Angel and Jordan start this book and fall in love.

Then it's time for Ghost and Ray. Although all three stories do merge together.

Shadow and Lyn have their story and it wraps the three stories.
