By dolphins, author means people who are difficult to communicate with may easily change their focus and go away toward their wishes or cookies. Modern IT world is full of such individuals. The book is quite short and provides several approaches, mainly decorated by a solid list of real cases from the author's experience of making communication with such partners more efficient. The most useful details I got from the book were not the author’s own. The first one was a practice which an enthusiastic reader Bengamine Francline did to his opponents; the individual lent Franklin the book and received it back a week later with a note of thanks. Basically, it boils down to the idea that you will like someone if they ask you for a small favour or help of some sort. Some folks call it The Benjamin Franklin Effect. Another one is George Carlin's saying:

Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?

Book content would suit some training or workshop greatly; the manner of writing does not look harmonious to the book format. Reading was quite annoying due to the frequent usage of IT-specific terms translated or mentions of local firms and people, somewhat daily talk. I would not recommend investing your time into reading this book, but if you find a recording or have a chance to participate in one of the author’s training - definitely give it a try.

Книга очень практична и true to life. Во время прочтения узнавала типажи разработчиков и клиентов, с которыми имела дело и многие стандартные проблемы.
Очень здорово, что повествование построено на кейсах, и автор проводит за руку от истоков проблемы к решению. Остаётся только внимательно читать, запоминать и применять, когда встречаешь похожие ситуации в работе.
Книга в первую очередь будет полезна аккаунтам, рекрутерам и PM-ам, но вообще ее будет не лишним прочитать каждому, кому нужно активно коммуницировать в работе.
