The new life-changing technique from Gemma Bray - creator of The Organised Mum Method
'Ingenious' Daily Mail
Do you ever get to the end of the day and feel like you've achieved nothing? Do you find it difficult to decide how to spend the small amount of free time you have? Do you ever wonder how some people seem to be able to fit everything in?
If you're feeling overwhelmed by all the things you need to squeeze into your day, unproductive or stuck in a daily routine that isn't making you happy, The Organised Time Technique is for you. This is Gemma Bray's unique method for organising your day that will stop you from trying to do everything (and feeling like a failure when you can't), keep you focused on how you use the time you have available, help you play to your strengths and, most importantly, help you find time for the things that really matter.
The Organised Time Technique provides the tools - and the headspace - you need to create a framework for your life that means you will always know where you are supposed to be, what you are supposed to be doing and when you are supposed to be doing it. By following the plan, you will not only get everything done, but also create space for the things that you really want to do, whether that's taking up a new hobby, reading a book, starting a side business or simply having a long, relaxing bath!
Just as The Organised Mum Method helped you to feel on top of the housework, The Organised Time Technique will revolutionise the way you spend your day. In no time at all, you will go from feeling flustered to feeling fabulous.
Although I enjoyed this book, I couldn’t help but compare it to her first one. That had so much practical advice in it- this one I just kept waiting for it to start. There was a lot of waffle and common sense stuff and the information about TOTT could have been said in about 2 sentences, I love Gemma Bray’s writing style though and was so looking forward to reading this. I’m left just a little disappointed though.
I really liked The Organised Mum Method and was very excited about reading this book. However I was extremely disappointed. Having finished the book I can honestly say I do not know what the ‘method’ is. The author refers to all the extra time gained from following the book, but all I got was the odd tip about quitting the PTA and turning notifications off your phone, which I could have got from goggle (or common sense).
I am sure that after the success of the first book, the publishers were desperate for a second one, but there is just not enough content for one. When you have an entire chapter about how to have a conversation with you partner about sharing the load you know you are scraping the barrel.
I guess some of Gemma Brays fans may like it (it does have an easy to read style) however if you are actually after a book with a time saving ‘method’ this is not for you.
Really enjoyed this book written in Gemma’s friendly and practical style.
The actual technique is not revolutionary if you’ve read time management and productivity books as I have since my teens haha but it is practical and I’ve already started logging my time and seen where my time sinks are.
Much like Gemm’a previous book, it builds on the foundations of The Organised Mum Method to manage your cleaning and takes it into the world of time management.
For those who are familiar with TOMM, this is a natural next step and the terminology and tips will make a lot of sense.
Even if you are new to TOMM or TOTT (The Organised Time Technique) this is a great way to think about time management.
What I love about this book is that it encourages you to put self care and your own goals and dreams at the top without ignoring work, families and life admin so that it all works together.
I love Gemma Bray, but I didn't love this. I really wanted to and was so excited to read it. I felt like there was a lot of waffle, though some of it was really nice to read and made me feel better about things, altogether it wasn't super useful as there were not enough solid time management tips. Really I need to see how others organise their day, or examples of days, eg. A typical day for a sahm, shift worker, 9-5er etc. I wish this book had grown more like TOMM, as I'm sure after trying out TOTT in the community there would have been so many good ideas which could have gone into this book, instead TOTT has been a bit of a secret until now. Sorry Gemma, I still think you're fab, I hope TOTT becomes clearer as people give it a go.
I’m not too sure what I thought of this book. I liked the ideas behind it and thought they were inspiring, however, there is not a chance that after doing my daily necessities that I have 2.25 hours to myself to relax! It takes no account of all the mounting “bits and pieces” of life admin you have to do. I have done my boot camp and am short by about 1 day a week!!! More work needed there… a good read, but not entirely practical I felt.
As a carer who falls into bed most nights exhausted and wishing for more hours in the day, I hoped I’d get more out of this book. The underlying principle is good, identify how you spend your time so you can manage it better and hopefully get some time for yourself in a busy life. I found it very Mum focused so the time management issues are quite different for me.
Gemma is such an inspirational person and writer. I follow her on social media, and I'm active within that community so I was super excited to read this, her second book. Especially after her first book completely transformed my cleaning routine and made it possible for me to (ironically with the second book being about time) have the time to go back to university and retain as a mental health nurse. Currently in my final year I have managed to use gemmas techniques to maintain my house while studying. Now I've read this book hopefully I can maintain and improve my life while I undertake my deadred dissertation. Thank you Gemma.
Anyone that is overwhelmed with life and how the hell we are supposed to fit everything in should read this book, you do have the time for that it's not a long one!!!!
I did enjoy this book, not as much as Gemma’s first book which was more suited to the stage of life I’m at. The book contains lots of good ideas about freeing up your time, working in daily units so you can free them up and making sure first and foremost you plan in that me time. I’ve only given this book 3 stars because I found that for this moment of life as a stay at home mum, with nearly 3 children (newborn-5 years) my time has to be spent differently to someone with older kids. It may be more appropriate for me to read this book when I’m eventually working out of the home again but for now my children are more of a priority than “me” time.
A great practical book for helping to carve out time and mind space to make space for those projects you want to do, activites you always push to the side. Helps reduce that mum guilt that comes with running a house and trying to be everything to everyone. The time bootcamp has helped me to work out what I need to do and how to fit in the things I want to do.
Excellent book full of excellent ideas and information. I read while book in one go and then started to put it into operation. The website has charts to print off to keep you on track and the main concepts are easy to put in place, tracking what I spent my day on was a revelation and I find I have utilised my time more productively.
I really like the way Gemma writes, she is very practical and helpful. This book was a good addition to her first book, building on to what she has already started and she outlines some great ways to use your time.
A quick and easy read with some good tips, some bits were a little repetitive but that’s no big deal. I probably won’t go the whole hog and follow it to the letter but there was definitely some food for thought!
A kick up the pants in written form. The book takes you easily through steps to aid time management which greatly aids my mental health. Good addition to the TOMM universe
Written just like you are having a chat - I definitely come into the dreamer category and waste too much time planning what I am going to do rather then actually doing it ! Got lots of practical tip and advice from this - feel ready to make better use of my time :)
Very helpful, I read different author first for health bites and doing something for yourself so already had this sort of thing in mind. Definately recommend reading, kindof more for your mindset than fitting more into your day! Very insightful

While the author's first book was directed towards moms - there was no indication this one would be as well, but it was heavily mom centric. Overall, it was just a recommendation to track your time and assign the units of time to what's important. Not helpful.
Having really enjoyed the first book I was excited for this one, but I really just don't picture myself ever actually doing that bootcamp even, to be honest. Still.
