Tennessee Heat

Rate this book
It’s the hottest summer on record, but that heat has nothing to do with the temperature that rises whenever these two are in the same room together. The shimmering mirage that can almost be seen in the air around them cannot be explained away so easily.
He’d waited almost two years for her, and now he can wait no more. But she’s still skittish, they come from two different worlds after all, and she’s constantly reminded of how much better he can do by all the hangers on that are waiting in the wings.
When she was transferred to a better school in a wealthier part of Memphis, Annabelle thought all she had to do was keep her grades up and get into a good college. That was her only way out of the rundown drug infested neighborhood that she was dying to escape.
She was not prepared for the infighting and backstabbing that ensued when the wealthy debutante set at her new school felt threatened by her brains and beauty. And things only got worst when the coveted Chase Worthington set his sights on her.
Teenage angst and a life spent hearing from her own mother that she was never going to amount o anything held Annabelle back from believing that Chase Worthington could have any real interest in her. He’s rich, handsome and an all around nice guy, no way could he want a girl like her from the gritty side of the city.
Chase knows he’s fighting an uphill battle to win her over, but he’s willing to pull out all the stops. But there’s one thing trying to stand in his way, one hanger on who thinks that she’s more deserving to be on his arm and there’s nothing this spoilt little debutante won’t do to get ‘her’ man.

Another great read I thought. I loved it. Hero not as alpha as most of Silver's Heroes, but Chase was still great. I loved him. Long story, but it had a lot of background, which I loved. Steam hits later in the story.
I received an ARC for an honest review.Full review will be up on my blog once it releases.

I didn’t give this a star rating because I didn’t finish it. There was entirely too much inner dialogue and not enough conversation between the characters. Annabelle is poor and from the wrong side of the tracks and we are told this A THOUSAND TIMES. Chase is rich and way out of her league which we are also told many many times. Annabelle was so insecure and I just couldn’t stand it anymore.

Like the other one there’s a lot of telling instead of showing. I love a Cinderella trope, so that kept me reading…. BUT this was repetitive and entirely too long.

4.25✯

°Virgin heroine
°Experienced hero
°It wasn't very clear but it seems like he was celibate after meeting the h-they met 2 years ago and he said he tried to date a year ago but couldn't do it bc he felt like he was cheating on the h even though they were not together at the time, he was just waiting for her to turn 18 to make his move
°Multiple POVs (mainly h/H but some parts were told from the POV of secondary characters)
°The story is written in the 3d person, I didn't like that
°The hero wasn't the most alpha, he became a little OTT towards the end but he never went full caveman :(
°OW drama - there was a girl who was obsessed with the hero, she thought the hero was waiting on her to be legal to be with her, she was completely delulu. She showed up several times in the story, mostly she tried to flirt with the hero in front of the h but he had no interest in her whatsoever. There's a scene almost at the end where she physically attacks the h (I liked that the hero slapped the OW for attacking the h 👏)
°OM - not really, there was a guy who liked the h but she only ever saw him as a friend, he wasn't a bad guy he was just not very smart
°No condoms
°Unplanned baby
°No cheating
°The h was almost sexually assaulted but the OM saved her
°She's 18 and he's 27 when they get together
°I found the h a bit annoying, she was constantly talking about how poor she was and how rich the hero was, she was always questioning the hero's intentions in her inner monologue, it was exhausting to be in her head
°No intimate scenes with OP
°No separation
°Epilogue: around 8 years later

Oh man what can I say!!!!!!! I have read every single book she has written and my absolute favorite has been Broken but after reading this I want to say it has been replaced idk how many times I’m gonna reread this book because I’ve reread Broken about 100 times!!!!
Annabel and Chase are such a beautiful couple the story line was absolutely beautiful it had everything that I love!!!! I was super happy super mad super sad every emotion all in one book and her attitude was amazing I know that fight scene was scary and it was extremely hard to read because I had just watched a news article where a woman was forced to mma fight and lost her baby so it hit home!!! But man does she spring back and fought to save her baby!!!! And the fact that she went back and beat her ass👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 i was rooting for her I would have been encouraging her!!! On to the next monster the mother!!! Omg do I want to strangle her!!!! How dare she that isn’t a mother she’s a monster!!!!!! Uuuhhh we don’t think they exists but they are out there!!!!!!! Those neighbors are trash I really like how the two ladies tried to intervene and got beat up for it they tried to stand up to them tried to save Annabell uugghhh it was honestly such an amazing book I can not recommend it enough!!!!!!! You have got to read it it’s amazing!!!!! And it’s freaking Jordan Silver!!!!! My all time favorite author!!!!!!!!

I’ve been waiting for this story to be complete! This was quite hard to read at times. There is one particularly long and difficult scene in this book. Chase is not quite as alpha as her usual H’s, but he definitely demonstrates that towards the end. Annabelle is a bit hard to like, she finally comes into her own and stands up for herself.

I love how it was portrayed, in the beginning, it was more about the relationship then it became about protecting the relationship. I love how the villains turn out, not only did she think she had a chance but when she understood she did not, sh^% got real.

I’m no where near done with this book. I started it weeks ago and it has NOT caught my attention. The first 12% of the book the main couple aren’t even together. It’s all inner monologue of the FMC’s poor life and her bleak outlook on her friendships and her future. Constantly going on about how she was settling for her downtrodden lot in life. Woah is me stuff. The 16% in they kissed and the MMC having known this chick for years only now finds out she lives in the slums and takes her to his apartment. Smdh. It’s so slow and boring right now.

I am always a bit hesitant to read a YA book but this author is an exception. I love the whole plot, the way Chase waited for Annabelle, his possessiveness is sexy, the way he protect her is a plus. Annabelle, she's a sweetheart despite of the environment she's grow up as a nice sweet and kind girl, that's why Chase fell in love with her. Kim is an absolute matchmaker. Well about Lisa, i totally hate her.. I almost want to bury her alive..
Anyway love the whole story, excellent book from author and can't wait for more..!! I will recommend this to my friends.

I love Jordan Silver’s books! This is the first book I read where she was writing as Cami York. The writing style was completely different and I was not a fan. There was a lot of tell/description and very little show. This was written in the third person and it made everything so confusing. I was not sure whose thoughts were whose/what was actually being said. Our hero Chase was much less OTT alpha than I have come to expect from this author. Very little interaction between the characters.

I will continue to read Jordan Silver but might pass of Cami York.

The first half of this book went round in circles. Girl lives in a bad neighbourhood, guy doesn’t like dropping her home there..... rinse and repeat.
If you want to read a book in which a girl needs a man to rescue her, then this is for you.
Unfortunately I’m a little too independent for such nonsense

The great plot was well written and the characters were so well developed that as I turned each page the chemistry between the characters kept me totally hooked until the very last page! Reminded me a lot of Eden High and Passion.

Cute read, my first by this pen name and I’ll likely read more. Not as steamy or alpha as the Jordan Silver Books but still a great read!!!

Summary: This is a contemporary romance. Spoilers/trigger warnings (if any) and final thoughts can be found below.

The story follows Annabelle and Chase. Chase is the older brother to Annabelle’s best friend and has always had a crush on her, but was waiting until she was old enough before he could act on it. Annabelle is from the wrong side of the tracks so she doesn’t think that anything can come of this relationship with Chase.

In the meantime, she is dealing with pretty consistent bullying courtesy of the other woman in the story. Ultimately she does begin to let herself believe that something could happen with Chase, and they do end up together. He is a really good guy and goes above and beyond to love, support, and protect her.

As their relationship progresses, the other woman becomes more and more unhinged until she plots to really hurt the FMC. There was also another person in the story who causes lots of problems for the FMC. Once everything is revealed, the people involved with hurting the FMC do get their comeuppance, and the main characters have their happily ever after.

⚠️SPOILERS/DETAILED TRIGGERS⚠️

🌶️: 1/5

Final thoughts: This came as a book recommendation because of the other woman drama, which there was definitely plenty of. As well as bullying. However, I don’t think I was the target audience for this book. It was written in the third person which is not my preference so for me to enjoy a book written in the third person it has to be a great book and this just wasn’t a great book for me. As much drama as there was, it just wasn’t enough to make up for the fact that I really didn’t connect to the characters or the story.

Having said that, I do appreciate that the people involved in hurting the FMC got their comeuppance. But overall, I would not recommend this book.

Chase and Annabelle's story is captivating.

Annabelle is from the wrong side of the tracks, but was able to attend a prestigious high school due to her excellent grades. She became friends with Kimberly Worthington because Kim was kind and selfless person. Annabelle met Chase, Kim's older brother, one time while at a sleepover at the Worthington's house. She was definitely attracted to him but figured he would on!y want her long enough to have her in his bed and then be done with her. Another of Kim's friends, Lisa seemed read set on being with Chase and Annabelle thought she was more the type Chase would marry. When Chase saw Annabelle for the first time he knew she was the one for him, but he needed to wait until she turned eighteen. Once that happened all gets were off and Chase was going after what he wanted. Will Annabelle's hang ups about not being good enough keep her from her HEA? Or will it be Lisa that steals Chase away? This is a wonderful story and I highly recommend it!

It felt like the insecurity of the h was the only real test of the relationship that developed seemingly out of nowhere. There is an age gap (h is 18, H is 27). While the h has been financially and physically caring for her alcoholic, emotionally abusive mother for years, there are times when she shows immaturity. The H keeps neglecting to use protection so it's no surprise that the h gets pregnant. The h is from a gritty neighborhood, the H is privileged. The H's family warmly welcomes the h and the H's sister is best friends with the h. The h's mother and the OW are mentally unbalanced and threaten the h's life. Revenge includes prison. A lot of page time devoted to sex and not enough time for describing events such as birth and care of baby.

Tennessee Heat

What a silly book, and derogatory, many misspelled words throughout and disjointed. It was written in a way that one thought an adolescent wrote it. It was so far fetched.

I will never read any of this author’s trashy novels again and would recommend it.

This book is for mature audience only due to its strong language and explicit content.

Nothing wrong with the book so I won't give it a rating but I personally couldn't finish. He's older and rich and from a affluent family, she's poor and absolutely gorgeous but from a bad trashy neighborhood where she's almost graped every time she comes home. We hear this internally and externally over and over and over again. The writing didn't flow and I got bored AF.

Annabelle knows that life isn't sunshine and lollipops. Her mom is an alcoholic, bitter and difficult. So Annabelle has to work at a grocery store when she isn't at school to keep the bills paid. She worked hard, knowing her ticket out of the rough neighborhood she grew up in was to get into college. Too bad no one told her that without silly things like band or something, colleges weren't interested. Silly girl, needing to eat on the regular instead of cheer on the football team. So with her best friend leaving for college, she attends a party hoping that her bestie's older brother Chase will be there. It will probably be the last chance to see him. She has been attracted to him for so long but knows she has no chance. He will be steered towards a girl of his same social class and never go for a girl from the wrong side of the tracks. Chase has been counting down the days when he could finally ask Annabelle to be his. He wouldn't let his thoughts even contemplate making a move until she was eighteen. With her distrust of men and her issues with her background, he will have his work cut out for him. Can Chase convince Annabelle that all he wants is her by his side and his ring on her finger?

I was completely consumed by Tennessee Heat! I stayed up way too late when I had to work the next morning but I had to finish it, I had to know how it would all work out. The characters felt real, especially Annabelle's ideas about social standing and such. You are in her head for the beginning of the story so her viewpoint is justified. Chase is so careful in the beginning, not wanting to move too fast or be too intense. When he wins her trust, he quickly maneuvers her into his world. I really loved these two. I felt like I got to experience their relationship develop and solidify. Cami York is now on my list of authors to follow and I can't wait for more stories from her!
