Grizelda Plum has endured her dreary routine for fourteen years, but things are finally about to change. If all goes well, she will be accepted into the art academy where her brand of misery and sarcasm will find company, and she will finally be able to put the drudgery of junior high behind her.
She knows better than to hope for happiness, but she’s at least optimistic that the soul-crushing monotony is about to end.
A change is coming.
Like a wicked joke, the fates are about to test her sanity by throwing her into a hellish world called the Dun, a vile nasty desert populated by the most nefarious villains imaginable.
The moody artist must come to terms with her life as a warrior and leader if she hopes to escape this detour with her marbles intact.
But fortunately, there’s always coffee to see her through her misery, that and a few strange friends.
With the help of her cruel master, and a band of outcasts known only as “the Misfits,” Grizelda must balance both worlds if she hopes to save her mother, survive high school, and learn to conquer both identities to defeat the evil Dunwitch and Colonel Krieg.
Be careful what you wish for, Grizelda.
The dreary routine of junior high is about to feel like a golden age.
This book was a wonderful surprise. It was very funny and relatable, and then it suddenly became an exciting fantasy novel set in two worlds. I liked all the characters and the pacing, and I can't wait to read the next installment. I highly recommend Grizelda Plum to anyone who enjoys fantasy novels.
