Come Work For Me

I needed a CFO and I got a mouthy, dominant, stunningly beautiful vixen instead.

Having to retire from the military early was never in the long-term plans for my life.

And when I lost my leg, my drive doubled.

I’ve built my billion-dollar financial company from the ground up, but I need to groom a numbers person to help keep things humming.

Lilac is the perfect pick. She’s not going to let anything get by her.

Including me.

Never in my life have I butted heads with someone so hard, but the effect is a high I’m not sure I can live without.

This single mom doesn’t have a choice on where her future lies.

I want her in my office, at the board table, and in my life forever.

And what I want, I get.

Hey there. I'm Weston.

Have we met? No? Well it's time to end that tragedy.

I'm a former firefighter/EMS guy who's picked up the proverbial pen and started writing bad boy romance stories. I co-write with my sister, Ali Parker, but live in Texas with my wife, my two little boys, my daughter, two dogs, three cats, and a turtle.

Yep. A turtle. You read that right. Don't be jealous.

You're going to find Billionaires, Bad Boys, Military Guys and loads of sexiness.

Something for everyone, hopefully. I'd love to connect with you. Check out the links below and come find me.

Reread 11/14/20

I love this story. After reading an office romance that left me unfulfilled, I decided to read my favorite parts of this one and ended up rereading the whole thing.

I love how sweet and perfect the hero is. He never hurts the heroine in any way and the only drama is from the h's ex who just wants money. The H protects her and gives her anything and everything she needs.

I just wanted more epilogue.

Original review:

I finally FINALLY got through this one. It took me a while of picking it up and putting it down, and I suddenly came to the conclusion that I had to skim it. That's right, skim it!

I enjoyed the story and the characters, but it just gets bogged down in so many details and side conversations that are just plain boring to me. I didn't have the patience or care to read everrryyy paragraph that came with one line of dialogue.

So why 4 stars you say? Well, it made me cry.

Also, how often do you read CR where the hero doesn't mess up, ruin, destroy or pulverize a good thing by doing something stupid or saying something unforgivable? I honestly thought it was impossible for CR heroes to not hurt the heroine in some way. It's why I avoid them.

You can trust in this hero though. And this smart and confident heroine.

A good and easy read

I really liked this. I'd like it a bit more if there were more Lincoln and Joseph time scenes 😉

Weston Parker really knows how to draw his reader into the world of his engaging characters. In this book we join the world of Joseph, ex military man who lost a leg in combat, and single mum Lilac who comes to work for his multi billion dollar business and her adorable cute son, Lincoln who will melt your heart. The chemistry between Joseph and Lilac is almost combustible and I did 'fear' for my Kindle at times! Will they or won't they is practically from as soon as they meet at her interview for the CFO position at his company. Weston writes his characters so that they are 3-dimensional and very believable. This is one of those stories that I will come back to read and read again as enjoyed it so much. I received a reader's copy of this book and voluntarily leave my honest opinion of it here. Most Definitely Recommended!!

Joseph and Lilac. He’s former Air Force who lost part of his leg, rich business guy, who needs to hire a CFO. She’s young, didn’t graduate from school, single mother with a toddler, little work experience and a crazy ex. Lots of insecurities with both but they end up working together, fake dating, living together and then real dating. They both have friends to whom they share excessively in order to move the story along. HEA

This was a great story. It was well written and fast paced. The chemistry between the characters was sizzling hot. This book has everything you need to keep you turning pages hot sexy men, steamy scenes and some conflict thrown in. I cannot wait for what this author writes next.

Wasn’t memorable or anything, the characters were well written and had great chemistry but this was just way too long for the amount of nothing that happens.

And no offence but I’m just not into the single mother trope, I’m also not sure the author has ever met a real 3 year old toddler.

Okay.

Liked characters, Joseph and Lilac. Liked the slow build which made the story somewhat realistic. But, it was just okay for me. Lacked chemistry.

⎯» Rating: 4 Stars

⎯» Genre(s): Contemporary Romance

⎯» POV: Dual—First Person

“I really was living with my boss, who I’d had sex with but who was also helping me and if that wasn’t enough, was great with my little boy.

What the hell happened to my life? Because this wasn’t it. My life didn’t have billionaire bosses with secret, good hearts who wanted to pretend to be my boyfriend. There was no action involving psycho exes, cops, and VA connections.”

This was my first book by Weston Parker, and if it’s anything to go by, it won’t be my last! I loved Joseph and Lilac individually, but when you put them together…well, it’s safe to say they made me smile like a loon on more than one occasion. Everything about their relationship felt natural. Additionally, I adored Joseph and Lincoln’s (Lilac’s 3 year old son) relationship. Watching their father-son bond develop left me swooning right alongside Lilac. And just like Joseph, I was rooting for the three of them to become a family. The pacing of the story never felt too fast, or too slow. It was easy to forget the outside world while I read.

COME WORK FOR ME is the first book I've read by Weston Parker. I really did enjoy the book. It was a story of a demanding boss man who is slowly won over by his newly hired single mom. Who is qualified to be trained to be his new CFO. Joseph Matthews, the CEO of the Mathews Financial Company, was a legend in the Chicago finance industry. He was demanding and controlling boss, who had to retire early from the military, after losing his leg. At 23 he built a billion dollar financial company from the ground up. The business then became his entire life.

Lilac Hawkings had a 3-year-old son named Lincoln. He was her whole world. She wanted a better job so she could provide better for him. Lilac had put herself through school so had debt she would like to get rid of, too. Matthews Financial had a reputation for paying well. She really wanted the CFO job. The former CFO had been there since the beginning, but left for personal reasons. Leaving Joseph wanting to fill that position with someone who he could personally train to do the job to his liking. Lilac was the perfect pick he thought.

Their professional jobs were working out quite smoothly. Her son attended the company daycare, and he was always close. Then Joseph burst into her office one day, and demanded that she attend a formal gathering where all the important business people would be in attendance. He had forgotten and on short notice he needed a date. He would pay for a dress & an entire team to get her ready. One of the daycare ladies was to watch her son for the evening. When he saw her all ready for their date, he felt like she had enchanted him somehow. She was absolutely stunning. He had the most beautiful woman on his arm and suddenly the evening was really looking up. The biggest surprise was on their way home in the limo, Lilac in her drunken wisdom kissed him. She kissed her boss. And once they started kissing they never stopped.

Hot love story!

Joseph Matthews owns a multi billion dollar company in Chicago. He had served in the Air Force and has a prosthetic leg as a result. Joseph is in need of a CFO as his prior one had left.He has his right hand worker named Ollie find him a slate of candidates to interview. Lilac Hawkins applies for the job as CFO working for the infamous Joseph Matthews. She is a single mother with a 3 year old son named Lincoln. The father of Lincoln never wanted anything to do with him and signed away his rights to him. Lilac impresses Joseph and gets the job. He wants someone young that he can mold into the CFO he needs. This office has a daycare on site which solves that issue too. All is going fairly well until she goes to a gala with her boss. She gets a phone call from the ex while at the gala and Joseph overhears some of the call. Like the next day she discovers the ex outside her apartment building waiting for her. She calls Joseph for help as she really doesn't know anyone else. He immediately picks Lilac and Lincoln up and takes them home. From there they get along well but the ex is a problem. Will their relationship work out. Great characters.Well written with perfect editing which I really appreciate.

Heart Melter

I only give a book 5 stars if I read it at least twice in 10 days. So… this is actually 5⭐️ plus since I started over as soon as I finished it the first time. The characters are relatable. I identified spectacularly with Lilac and loved the boss grinch from the beginning of his hard-ass jerk ways. Loved the main supporting character too. Oliver stole a piece of my heart too. He kinda needs a story of his own…
Nothing like a highly intelligent, no-nonsense woman to snap a highly focused success-minded alpha out of tunnel vision. Lovely that the story is brutally honest that women can need intimate encounters to temper anger and fear into something more manageable just as much as guys can.
The best thing? Parker rarely misses grammatical errors that ruin the engrossing flow of his storylines. Not something that can always be said of other authors in this genre. Well done, sir. Well done!

Come Work For Me – Weston Parker -- A retired air force veteran finds himself in desperate need of a new CFO. Joseph’s assistant Ollie knows the moment he meets Lilac, that this is lady is going to give his boss a run for his money. It’s a good thing the multi-billion dollar company takes good care of its employees! As Lilac settles her son into the in house day care, she hits the ground running as the CFO in training. When her ex come creeping around demanding money, Joseph doesn’t hesitate to move Lilac and Lincoln in with him. If it sounds like their relationship is whirlwind fast, it is. But in this case, the characters make it work (which is some good writing because I am not a huge fan of impulsive relationship decisions when kids are involved in the story usually)! New author for my terrifying TBR pile! Happy Reading!

Single mom and a hot retired military guy? Absolutely! There wasn't much I didn't like about this book; the characters are great, all the pieces fit into place well, enough tension to make it interesting and a well-ended story. Joseph needs a new CFO and Lilac needs a chance to get her life and finances back on track. She's spunky, smart, and isn't afraid to call him on his attitude, but the pay is fantastic so she'll put up with anything! I've read others by Weston Parker (and his sister, Ali, too), and it's just so much fun to read something written by a guy who enjoys romance! Standalone, and a great HEA.

Given it was my first time ...

It was an OKish experience. Waxed poetic a bit much. Narrative was internal to the characters too much instead of dialogue.

The drama was a bit of a let down as the ‘villain’ wasn’t very scary but kinda weak in attitude and action. The overall plot wasn’t all that original thus predictable and with everything else, it was an OK read.

I might try another read from the author as the humor was enjoyable as well as the interaction between characters.

Come Work for Me

First time reading a Weston Parker novel. I can say I truly enjoy this novel. The right amount of love scenes, mystery. I liked the fact it was about a veteran and a single mom coming together. Also that there was no other woman involved. I liked that no one ran away from each other but became stronger fighting the situation together. I would recommend this book and author. 5 stars.

And work she did!!

I love this story. She came in and worked for and with him right from the beginning. I love that she was a powerhouse in the office right from the start and not a secretary getting the boss.
It's a great story line with lots of swoon worthy moments and some laughter sprinkled throughout the book.
Love books from this author though so I'm not surprised I love this as well.

Can't wait to read another book by this author.

Great characters that develop through the story. Background that keeps the storyline moving without bogging it down. Well written that I didn't realise that this was a male author (I thought it was someone with a unisex name until I read the bio). I would love to see a category of romance novels written by men for women especially if it was like this book. P.S. loved the hero of this story.

Come Work For Me

Great story! Struggling single mom, just trying to make a life for her and her son, and have money for the bills. Landing a job, at this major company, was something she had only dreamed of. This journey is a learning experience, balancing between being a mom and corporate worker, and learning what it’s like to enjoy your job, and the new boss when he isn’t being a d__k. Fun, flirty, emotional, loving story. Must read❤️

I loved this book. It's so hard to find books that stand alone reading digitally bc all the books escalate. And love to read but I don't like to finish this story u have to buy these next 18 books. Anyway, I loved the story line. I was so happy to see that people can still look past a person's physical appearance gave me hope for human kind. And the fact that she never says anything about his leg until he hurt it made me love this book bc it was really heartfelt.

Come Work For Me

Any Weston Parker that I read is a guaranteed good read. From page one I was caught up in the story of Joseph and Lilac. The connection between the two was instantaneous. Add the characters like Ollie, Grant and Alisha and you wish you knew these people. This has a strong male character. Once you start you won't want to put it down.

Loner CEO meets single mom

Joseph is retired military and CEO of a financial company. He expects perfection from all employees. Enter Lilac, a single mom, who is hired to be trained as the new CFO. Having a sideline seat watching the two come together with little Lincoln just warmed your heart.

Sweet, straightforward love story

This is a good read, not too dramatic, yet with enough drama. It was a relief to not read about office politics, people harassing the lady because she was with the boss. Also, the ex drama was also contained, which was kind of refreshing. Loved Ollie too. Sweet story.
