The people of Pomona are under threat from the evil Queen Merla, and until now, Princess Neve has been powerless to stop her. Locked away in a tower for the past year, she has watched her kingdom fall apart.
The Evil Queen wants to be rid of Neve once and for all, so she brings her before the magic mirror. Neve knows the glass will never name Queen Merla the fairest in the land, but despite what it says, her fate is already sealed.
With the help of her childhood friend, Chase, Neve escapes the castle and Queen Merla’s clutches. But Chase is now on the Queen’s Guard, and Neve is unsure if she can trust him.
Through a journey of loss, love, and betrayal, Neve learns that being the fairest isn’t easy, but that it’s better to fight and lose, than to not fight at all.
Chasing Neve is a love-filled action-packed reimagining of the classic Snow White tale.
K. A. Last is a graphic designer and author blessed with a vivid imagination. She has a Diploma in Graphic Design, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in English, and minors in Children’s Literature, Art History, and Visual Culture. She lives in the Australian countryside with her family and a menagerie of animals, where she loves to immerse herself in creativity and nature.
I was really excited to read this story based on the blurb. I love Snow White. The author did NOT disappoint on this book! The way she took the story we all grew up with and changed it in various ways was wondering to see, and it worked really well!
Neve is a very strong, determined, compassionate, a beautiful girl both inside and out. She hasn’t had an easy life by any means but instead of that hardening her it has only made her care all the more. After escaping her evil stepmother with the help of her best friend and a few more they meet on the way she sets off on a quest to save her not only her kingdom but the people who live there as well. She meets some interesting people on the way.
This new world is both terrifying and beautiful each in there own way. Her evil stepmother has brought the kingdom into such ruin that it isn’t the same place she grew up in. With twists and turns that keep you hanging on for dear life. The author knew exactly what she was doing when she wrote this. It sucked me in from the moment I first read about Neve up in her tower and didn’t let me go until the absolute end.
What a fascinating journey that I wouldn’t have been able to take otherwise. Such adventure! Absolutely amazing. I will definitely be reading more from this author in the future. This series doesn’t need to be read in order.
A brilliant take on Snow White. It's beautiful written and you won't want to put it down. Neve has been locked in a tower for a year since her father died, she looks like a mess but will it be enough to hide her true beauty. The Evil Queen hope so but the magic mirror speaks the truth and turns out Neve is still fairest and in the fight not only of her life but the fight for her kingdom for the tree that protects the kingdom is dying. Can Neve and her supports find a way to save the tree in time or will the Evil Queen win. This the first book I have read by K.A Last but it won't be the last
I have to say that this book proves you are never too old for fairy tales. Snow White, reimagined, is intriguing and highly entertaining. Neve and her band of followers are on a quest to save Pomona from the evil queen and must travel through the various realms to achieve their objective. What dangers and evils await them? Will they succeed? You will have to read the story to find out but I can highly recommend this book and author.
You’ve read the story of Snow White before, but it was nothing like this! Neve is a strong, independent woman destined for greatness as the Queen. Chase is her one true love, powerful and willing to give up everything for her. Together, with the help of the people of Pomona, can they defeat the evil queen and rebuild their city?
I enjoyed Ms Last’s retelling of Cinderella, Ella & Ash, but this tale was even better than that one. Chasing Neve is action-packed, suspenseful, magical, and sweet. I love the adventure of their journey and the fantasy of the mythical creatures brought to life in the story. I stayed up late turning pages into the night because I was so captivated by her words. I highly recommend this book for Fantasy Romance fans.
There are still enough of the elements of the original story to keep Snow White fans happy, and there may even be a little romance, but the happy ever after is a little different, and Neve is a kick-ass heroine.
Early teens and above who love the retellings of faery tales should definitely add this to their shelves, but fantasy readers who love a strong female facing adversity will also enjoy this read.
Who knew that finding a story with an Evil Queen was so hard these days? Most Evil Queens get amazing backstories, making them a lot less evil, or they are written out of stories all together. However, I really needed a story with an Evil Queen for my reading challenge and then I remembered that I probably needed a Snow White retelling. The search engine came with this one and since I already read Ash & Ella and loved it, I was quite excited to read this one.
What I liked about this second book is that it really adds a lot to the fairytale. I remember the first story also doing that, but here it seems like the author not only added more magic and more backstory, but also more world. I'm normally not a big fan of road-trips and quests, but I quite enjoyed exploring this fantasy world alongside our main characters. This book had so much to offer! Fae, Dragons, Giants...
On top of that it gives both Snow White and her prince the chance to be heroes. Since this story kept the cornerstones of the original Snow White fairytale, like the evil queen, the magic mirror, the comb and the apple, the prince at some point had to wake Snow White with a kiss from her slumber. However, Last made sure that Snow White also had a few moments to shine, making clear that she eventually was the one saving her kingdom from the Evil Queen.
I also, just like in the first book, really liked all the magic in this book! It made the playing field a little more equal, but it also created loads of opportunities to give the Evil Queen a little more motivation for being Evil than her just being jealous because Snow White is prettier. Although, luckily for my reading challenge she wasn't redeemed or given such a good motivation that it was hard to call her really evil.
I also bought the other books in the series. I'm excited to get to them!

This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
ONE ROUGH AND RUGGED RIDE!!! Slamdunk! Last threw caution to the wind, ratcheting up the thrill of the chase with this refreshing approach, mixing it up and laying it down, fusing this gem together sleek, shiny and tight. One non-stop, action packed, hard hitting, pulse racing, heart pounding, nailbiting, nerve racking, page flipping, block busting bombshell, hooks you from the start and reels you in for the duration. A tumultuous wild ride full of distressing circumstances, blowing this glittering jewel wide open. Bequeathing incredible, well rounded scenario's that punch dead center with such exuberance and precision, blasting this sparkling gem to life spectacularly. Anarchy, escapades and havoc run amuck, propelling this bad boy into a surging tempest, blowing it into a tailspin with a mind-blowing culmination. The characters are complex and authentic with depth and traits that blend and flow, transforming into genuinely relatable personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and depictions creating a colorful backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Remarkable job Last, thanks for sharing this little treasure with us.
Chasing Neve is the second book in K.A. Last’s Happily Ever After series of reimagined fairy tales. Each book stands alone, so they can be enjoyed in any order. This is a surprisingly sweet, clean story with action and a bit of suspense, but not a lot of surprises. Last puts her own spin on Snow White without straying too far from the familiar elements of the story.
Most of this book is told from Princess Neve’s perspective, but we get her childhood friend and huntsman Chase’s perspective while Neve is under the spell of the poisoned apple. Both characters are affable, loyal, and unsure of themselves. Queen Merla is unrelentingly evil, without any apparent motivation beyond destroying Neve and being pronounced the fairest in the land. The other characters are likeable enough, though we never get to know them very well. I think the mirror gets the best lines in the book.
Give this a try if you enjoy fairy tale retellings or clean romantic fantasies aimed at the young adult market.
I received an ARC from the author via BookFunnel, and I volunteered to provide an honest review.
I have always liked fairy tales and K.A. treatment does them proud! I enjoyed Ella and Ash as much as I did Chasing Neve and recommend both books to you as books you can be caught up in the story so much that you just have to see what comes next. Of course you no doubt know the fairy tale but her treatment of it is special!!
I encourage you all to pick up these books and find a new author that you’ll want to read more of- I know I do.
Why we’re all practicing “social distancing “ there is no better time than to read a book you will love. There is romance and friends and quests to be made to end the evil reign of the wicked stepmother. You’ll smile and shed a few tears as well while being enthralled by K.A. ‘s story.
I came away from reading this book a better man for having done so. There are many books out there for you to read but only a few you will remember and K.A.’s books do that for me.
Sweet, re-imagining of Snow White with modern sensibilities. It is evident that Last did a lot of research in putting together her version of Snow White as this story encompasses many traditional elements as some more obscure ones. It is the story of an empowered young woman on an epic fantasy journey to save her kingdom, gathering allies and defeating foes along the way. Neve and Chase have a very sweet relationship that matures naturally though the course of the book.
The mirror was one of my favorite parts of the book, and where the author's humor really shone. A couple lines has me laughing out loud - but I will let you find them for yourself! Other scenes were poignantly beautiful in their imagery. The themes of inner beauty and sacrifice were strong but not preachy.
This is book 2 in the series, but they are complete standalones. I'm looking forward to the next one.
I have read one or two fairytale retold stories recently so when I was given the chance to read the new book by the author, I decided to try a Snow white retelling. I was hoping for a strong heroine and an adventure, and it delivered that to me. Theres no 7 dwarfs in a cottage or cleaning in this story but there are a band of forest folk, the huntsman Chase and a guard Maximus and the likes who join Neve on her quest to help save her kingdom. I did find myself getting disinterested in parts due I think to knowing how most of the storyline was going. But overall ms Last has created a retelling that has brought the story into the current era where women are not dependent on a man to save them, although of course Chase has to give her a kiss to save her. Thats basically something that is a given. My favourite character was the dragon, Memryn.
This is a Snow White retelling. It was....interesting. I liked the story idea and I saw the potential in it. Unfortunately the romance struck me as too juvenile in conjunction with the seriousness of her situation and previous history with her love interest. There were situations or different scenes in the story that I felt were either not well fleshed out or not thoroughly thought out. While it was incomplete, in my estimation, I didn't relegate it to the DNF pile so I would give it 2.5 stars for keeping my attention long enough to finish it.
As the title suggests, this is Snow White Re-imagined. Every Snow White image has been rewritten in a way that makes it more grown rather than childish. Looking for apples? They are here, but Neve goes on a quest to get them. Looking for seven dwarves? How about seven friends who are a huge help defeating the Evil Queen? Looking for romance? It's here, but not so overbearing that it's annoying.
Overall a great story. Read this book if you need a little fantasy shakeup.
I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story.
An fairytale inspired by the tales of Snow White. A sweet storybook adventure of a young princesses Neve trapped in a tower by her evil stepmother Queen Merla. The characters are sweet and innocent with a depth of strength which takes them away from the castle to save Pomona and destroy the evil Queen. During their travels they find themselves in different relems trolls fae dragon and other enchanted creatures who add to the fairytale. If you enjoy reading fairytales with a twist, this is a story for you.
Fascinating spin on 'Snow White' with several new and magical characters brought to life by creative author K.A. Last. I enjoyed how most of the traditional elements of 'Snow White' are present, but the circumstances are a little different in this tale, and the journey taken by Neve and her companions is 100% original.
‘Chasing Neve’ is the second enjoyable quick-read novella recommended for fairy-tale fans in Last’s ‘Happily Ever After’ series of stand-alones, both available as part of the Kindle Unlimited program:
‘Ella and Ash’ ‘Chasing Neve’

I have never been a fan of Snow White. It’s always been my least favorite fairytale and she is my least favorite Disney Princess. But, this was an excellent Snow White retelling. There was a lot of adventure and not some damsel waiting for a handsome prince to come and save her. I highly recommend for anyone that is a fan of fairytale retellings.
Excitingly Original! “Chasing Neve” is a fun, intense adventurous reimagined original Snow White. I loved all the characters that were created with their interesting personalities and quirks. This tale drew me emotionally, held my heart and kept me entertained to the last page. I loved this read! Highly Recommended! I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily
A fresh take on a well-known tale. Having read the original Brothers Grimm version, as well as the Disney one I always had mixed feelings about Snow White because of how different the stories are. Chasing Neve paints Snow White in a different light. She's strong, independent and driven, it's honestly refreshing.
I enjoyed this twist on the tale. The characters from our amazing heroine Neve to the guard Chase and the evil Queen Merla. This wild roller coaster ride of a story keeps you sucked into the world and needing to know how this tale ends. I can't wait to see what fairy tale she will tackle in the next book.
This was a wonderful story of the retelling of Snow White. It has Neve as a wonderful heroine that was trapped in a tower for a year. This retelling pulls you in as Chase and Queen Merla are in the story to grab you into the storyline! This story a fun fairy tale! I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book l
I absolutely loved this new version of Snow white! It had love, romance, and one hell of a adventure. The author took you and really made you feel that you were on the adventure right with them. The mirror was absolutely helpful in the quest. The knight's were very loyal to the one true queen Neve!!
Honest review for ARC. It wasn't a can't put it down book, but well written and flowed well. Neve's journey is well done: magic, questioning trust, self-doubt, and simple romance. Who knew the Magic Mirror had a dark side?

I really loved reading this wonderful book! I loved the characters and the plot! I had a hard time putting this really wonderful book down! I absolutely loved this retelling of Snow White! I will be reading the next book in this really wonderful series!
I received a ARC and volunteer to review this book. I love paranormal and fairytales. This was a great read and a lot of action in it. Loved the characters and can’t wait for the next book. ❤️ 👍
"Chasing Neve" by K.A. Last takes readers on a mesmerizing journey filled with adventure and fantasy, as it breathes new life into the classic Snow White tale. This second book in the series is a brilliant continuation of Last's storytelling, and it weaves together the allure of mythical creatures, forgotten elements from the original tale, and a heartwarming adventure.
The people of Pomona are in peril, facing the malevolence of Queen Merla, and Princess Neve, who was once powerless to stop her, is now locked away in a tower, watching her kingdom crumble. Queen Merla is determined to rid herself of Neve for good, and the magic mirror holds the key to her plan. Neve may know that the glass will never declare Queen Merla as the fairest, but her fate seems sealed.
With the aid of her childhood friend, Chase, Neve escapes the clutches of the castle and Queen Merla. However, things have changed, as Chase is now part of the Queen's Guard, leaving Neve uncertain about his loyalty. Through a journey marked by loss, love, and betrayal, Neve discovers that being the fairest is a challenging path, but it's far better to fight and lose than not to fight at all.
"Chasing Neve" is an action-packed reimagining of Snow White that brims with love and adventure. The plot and storyline are expertly crafted, drawing readers in from the very beginning. While the main characters are a highlight, I did at times find it hard to keep track of who was who, as characters continued to be introduced to represent the seven dwarves. For me, this resulted in feeling less connected to them which meant an event later on in the story didn’t hit as hard. Nonetheless, the overall story is a brilliant retelling filled with suspense, action, and remarkable world-building that enhances the narrative.
I'm eagerly anticipating more of this series and the enthralling adventures it promises. "Chasing Neve" comes highly recommended for readers seeking a fresh take on a beloved fairytale.
Once i opened this book i came alive. My imagination came to life in all with the turns, paths. waterfalls and meeting new people along the way. I like the way this is well written and is fascinating to read.
