Epitaph: The Necromancer Thanatography Book Two

Rate this book
You can’t keep a good necromancer down.

Rip Eulogy is dead. After being reduced to ashes and buried at sea, the road back to the land of the living is a long and arduous one. Since his demise, things have changed, friends and associates have moved on, and the business of communing with the dead for fun and profit has gotten a lot more complicated with the appearance of another necromancer.

This rival is obscenely rich, incredibly powerful, and purely evil. He doesn’t care to have a small-time upstart like Rip Eulogy competing with him for the title of Death Incarnate in the coming apocalypse. One of them has to go! And Rip soon finds out he may not be as indestructible as he thought.

In this epic sequel to Necropolis, the underworld landscape vastly expands, introducing new allies, new villains, and a host of creeping, crawling denizens of the deep that are always good for a laugh or a scare.

Join Rip Eulogy in this city of the damned as he tries to beat back the sinister forces bent on putting an end to him and all life on earth!

Gah! I should've realized this story would end up being a trilogy. And just my luck, the third book isn't out yet. I don't regret a moment of reading this, though. And I'll just wait patiently for the next book... It is out yet? How about now? Umm, what about now?

Seriously, this book delivers on the promise of the first book. Fun and snarky. I love Rip and the other characters. The premise is awesome. It's filled with twists - some you see coming and others you don't. Either way, this book is exciting and thrilling and I can't wait for the third book.

This should be a movie

I love this book, and the one before it. Great characters, dialogue, and plotline. More people should know about this author! Can't wait for #3!

When we had last left our intrepid necromancer, Rip Eulogy’s body had been burned to ashes and scattered at sea while he was astral travelling. Pulling himself together from that was the longest it had ever taken, but when he painfully gets back to a form people can at least recognize, things have changed. The Big Bad has accelerated his plan to speed up the Apocalypse, and since Rip won’t play his part, recruiting goes wider. Rip assembles one of the motliest crews in existence and sets off to do…something. Or at least mess it up.

Shane Simmons’ unique blend of gross-out horror humour succeeds in being entertaining and intriguing while making you wonder what causes someone to think like that. But you’ll probably be laughing too much to ask yourself that question too often. At the same time, the unrelentingly dark nature of the universe his characters evolve in is omnipresent, making the reader appreciate the fine-tuning that is required to blend such wildly divergent styles and make them work so well together.

Loved it!

Once again Shane Simmons does not disappoint !! The continuing story of the Necromancer Rip Eulogy is filled with laughter, excitement and suspense that grabs on to you and holds you enthralled until the very end. No spoilers here but I recommend you read Necropolis, the first book, to fill out the story although it's not necessary. You won't be disappointed in Shane's tale guaranteed!!

It's X-Files funny

This volume continues the style of the first and the characters don't grow as much as grow on you. They are still bonkers (without realizing it) and not in a Howard the Duck fashion but in a weird acquaintance way.

There are some fun twists in some twisted supernatural encounters and the battles are ugly (just right for this dark urban fantasy). I am looking forward to the next volume and I know it's going to be darker still.
