Enjoyable

I didn't buy love, I bought infatuation but not love. That said it's like these characters spent most of the book speaking two different languages. To say they had communication problems would be an understatement and that is what made it hilarious. At one point she says I love you and he says go away and doesn't even understand its insulting. I mean on one hand you feel for the poor girl, Cheryl, because seriously he's treating her like absolute crap. But on the other hand it's made extremely clear he doesn't even understand that he's treating her like crap because dragon values are so opposite to our own so it's really hard not to laugh even when you know Cheryl wants to cry. You get enough of Mal's point of view to understand the values he's been raised with and his intentions. He's trying to do everything the can to make her happy, the things that would make a dragon female happy. The problem is those aren't even close to the things that make a human female happy. So while I'd normally call the character out for being horrible to his love interest he actually isn't being so even when he is. It's kind of like the guy that doesn't know you that well and wants to impress you so he buys you roses only to learn you're alergic and they give you hives. Even though you're miserable he's still sweet. Intent and understanding does actually make a difference here and it's why he doesn't come across like an ass and yet still behaves like one.

The constant misunderstandings kept me laughing from almost the first page to the last one. The story is cute and I do believe these characters eventually could love each other, I just don't believe they're really there yet when the story concludes. I liked seeing them grow as characters and learn about each other's cultures. The book isn't some epic fantasy that's going to have fancy critics applauding, but it is cute, sweet and funny. It's a lighthearted read I truly enjoyed. Definitely recommended.

FaceBook does it again! I am not sure what exactly is their algorithm, but they seem to be able to recommend books that do catch my interest. New to me author Ms. Night is sweet and funny with her matriarchal space faring dragon shifters. I have to admit, the first couple of chapters, I was maybe going to toss this book because Cheryl was so bloody whiny and annoying. Her lack of self esteem and issue with her weights is so passe.

Then to have a billionaire dragon shifter from outer space fall for her? Annoying. This story is more than that though. Ms. Night creates a rather brutal world where dragon males can be taken advantage of and how aristocratic societies can be ruthless and cutthroat.

Fortunately, Cheryl does develop a spine which helped the story greatly. What I enjoyed was oddly the miscommunication due to a clash of cultures. Is it contrived? Yes. But it was so tongue in cheek that it provided me with good amusement and I devoured this book and immediately searched for the next book in the series. Good news, humour lovers! This series is complete! Recommended to paranormal romance readers who have a quirky sense of humour.

Must like dragons

This is another spin on Dragon lore and I couldn't put it down. Even though Mal was a growly alpha male, he also has a vulnerable side. Cheryl turned out to be insecure but with a hidden warrior.

Malachite

Good story. I liked the world building and equally likeable and frustrating characters. I enjoyed Cheryl’s character development most. It was great seeing her shy and unsure nature turn to self assertive and confident.

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

Ok, so Starla Night has created another ABSOLUTELY BEST-SELLING series (at least in my opinion) I have read in the paranormal world! Her Dragon shifters are sexy, dominating, 100% alpha, protective, caring and can turn into dragons..what is not to love about that? Add in some communication issues, a curvy heroine who slowly but surely comes out of her shell and demands attention and some HOTTER THAN THE FIRES THESE DRAGONS BREATH sex scenes and you got yourself a real TREASURE!

Malachite is a strong, bold, sexy as sin dragon shifter who wants his company to be number 1. He thinks that might be the only way his future wife, Cheryl will love him. But it takes sweet, curvy Cheryl to prove him wrong. I loved that we get some miscommunication going on. Heck, with them being an alien species, to me, it makes sense. And it definitely added a more endearing element to this magnificent story. Cheryl's feelings made me want to cry and hug her. She is so sweet, caring, voluptuous and really needs her future husband to care and make time for her. And Malachite made a few mistakes with her but when he gave her time, the passion and sweetness was so heart melting. These two had my heart soaring and melting and yes, even crying. I loved them and this story to pieces and can't wait for more Dragon shifter romance from Starla Night! This is such a unique take on Dragon Shifters and the way Miss Night weaves her stories with passion and heart makes it UNDENIABLY ATTRACTIVE! I just devoured this book and want the next one like RIGHT NOW! Its THAT good!

Dragon VIP: Malachite gets a RIVETING AND SWEET FIVE SHOOTING STARS! This story is OUT OF THIS WORLD GOOD AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

Dragons love forever

I totally loved the learning curve the dragon had as to the mating rituals of humans.

His struggle to be everything to everyone is something we all experience and learn from was awesome to read.
The blossoming love between Mal and Cheryl was the perfect HEA.

I received an ARC edition of this book from the author.

Normally I'm not a big fan of stories where a lack of communication causes so much of the drama, but with Mal and Cheryl it worked. Mal's alien heritage made it much more believable that not only would he misunderstand Cheryl, bu that they would both have to work beyond the perceptions they take for granted. It was interesting to see Cheryl grow in confidence as the book progressed, but I thought her interactions with her mother were just a bit too over-the-top (the mom almost comes across as neglectful at time, which really annoyed me). Mal certainly is a mix between overly dominate and caring, at times he was so domineering (like taking her from her class) that in a human it would have been too much, but with his alien culture it made sense. His need to prove himself is so ingrained in his upbringing and culture, so I thought his actions worked.

There is a good amount of world building (plenty of room to expand in future books, but enough to show thought was given to the dragon culture). I found it interesting to have a female dominated society, and the issues that causes for Mal (both in his expectations and in his business).

I'm looking forward to the books for Mal's siblings, but I really can't wait for Amber's book.

Malachite “Mal” Onyx Is the CEO of the Onyx Corporation. A dragon clothing company that was started with his siblings, Jasper, Alex, Kyanite, Amber, Pyrochlore and Flint. Their company is in Vancouver, Washington and they export their clothes to Draconis, where they are from. Their competition is Carnelian Clothiers, another dragon clothing company that exports. Every time the Onyx company comes up with a new idea, Carnelian Clothiers steals it and cashes in on it.

Their mother, the Matriarch of the family, wants them all to come back to Draconis and give her grand dragonlets. She tells them that Empress Horribus wants to marry Mal and dismantle their company, because the woman is always in charge on Draconis. Mal and his siblings say they already have love interests on earth to give them time to come up with a plan to save the company.

Cheryl is working on her final project for college to graduate and is an art intern at the Onyx company.

I volunteered to read this ARC because I like her Lords of Atlantis series. I enjoyed this first book in the Dragon VIP series.

Mal is a strong, sometimes bull headed, dragon who has different views from humans on everything. He and his siblings have been on earth five years and they still don't know anything about human customs when it comes to woman. The miscommunications between Mal and Cheryl are constant!

Cheryl is very shy, naïve, has no self confidence and doesn't think she looks good because she carries around extra weight. She does finally stand up for herself at the end, but before that she was annoying.

I am looking forward to the next book in the series to see if Pyro can find a more confident woman!

Mal is the CEO of the Onyx Corporation, it’s also his last name. He is also not of this Earth as he came from another planet. Looking like a human, a hot human, sculpted like the best of the Roman Gods or like Superman is not his natural form, it’s a dragon. His corporation is a fashion clothing export business, but he does not export to another country, he exports to another planet, his home planet. Human clothes had become in demand on his home planet as everyone was able to shift into the human form and being able to accessorize this form became most fashionable. He only had a few problems though. First, his company always came in second to his main and only competitor. Second, he has been given a short finite amount of time to find a wife or he will have to come home and marry the Empress. Third, on his home planet the females of their species, has all the power, and forth! He is clueless just as much if not more so than human men when it came to courting human women. A woman like his graphic design intern, Cheryl.

Okay, a science fiction-based reality, but this is definitely romantasy. The physical world-building is good. The ethereal world-building is personal. The character’s interactions feel real. The character’s histories are part of the story but not needed at the start, so you learn more about them as the telling goes on.

This tale uses science fiction to explain the reality of the main characters, but this story is more romantasy than anything else. I give this tale five stars out of five stars.

Malachite and Cheryl

The dragons from Draconis came to earth to pull themselves out of being labeled "low class". The siblings were not acknowledged by their aristocratic grandmother so they were each sent away to different places. Mal gathered all of his siblings together to form a clothing company. On Draconis women are in charge so their mother is the owner and matriarch of the family. She wants grand-dragonets and she will do anything to get them, including promising Mal to the Empress. The siblings lied and told her that they were involved with humans. So Mal had to find a wife.
Cheryl worked as an intern in their company designing things like their logo. She has confidence issues about herself and her drawings. When Mal, who she has a crush on, tells her that they are going to get married, she agrees.
This book is cute and funny. The dragons have only been on Earth for two years and have been so involved in making the company number one that they don't understand much about humans. Mal misunderstands so many things that Cheryl says and does because he thinks she should've acting like female dragons do.
I was unsure about the story to start with but the further into it I read the better it got. There is conflict with another dragon company that adds to the book.

This was an fascinating look at the dragon side of the fashion world and how a young woman who was interning for the Onyx Corporation Cheryl Miller happen to be crazy about the CEO Malachite Onyx, along with his brothers and sister ran a clothier company on earth while selling their merchandise to the Draconis system and trying to become #1 unfortunately they were having a hard time making this happen but they could not figure out why. One day their mother called and informed Mal that he was to marry the Empress of his home planet and that he needed to come home immediately. They were all shocked determine to find a way to stop his mother's plans for him. You will enjoy this entertaining romantic and funny story. Adult Content. Loved the characters and how they worked together as a family to make sure that they had each others back even though Mal being the oldest thought that company could not run without him. Starla did an excellent job. I received a copy of this book as a gift from the author. I am providing an honest review with out obligation.

This may be my own fault

DNF.

I'm not sure how to start this but to say may be i went way too far out of my comfort zone. However, I don't think thats completely my problem with this book.

Grammar was fine. There wasn't a multitude of editing that was making this unreadable. I hate to say it, but it was the story. I am all too familiar with self -doubt and being attracted to someone that is like a 9 and you're a 4.5 on a good day. But this was painful. Your heroine had literally zero self respect. She questioned for basically two seconds why Mal would want to marry her and hears him tell his siblings that he has the wife thing taken care of. And his answer as to why her was just 'you're cheryl.'

She had been pining for this man that in two hours she convinces her to marry him with no wooing of or a meal together or anything. This is where it could be my fault because I expected more of a dragon shifter.

This was just too much of a sad sack in our heroine for me to go on. Now may be she grows. I was only 30% in when I gave up. This was just not for me.

Glad I stuck with it.

This is a 3.5 star story. Extremely insecure, over achiever, and CEO, Mal, and his extremely insecure, company intern Cheryl- a struggling art student- find themselves muddling through a sudden relationship along with trying to save his company.

I almost put this down in the middle, between their extreme insecurities, and seeing where the corporate spy aspect was headed, but I'm glad I stuck with it, because of the complete opposite reaction of Mal to Cheryl's bad mistake. By the end Mal learned some personal hard truths and some emotional sensitivity. And Cheryl learned how to believe in herself and become a strong young lady and future dragon wife. This ends in a HFN scene but I found out there's bonus scenes available for the whole series. I guess I would reccomend this as a fun, paranormal read. I just kept thinking Mal should've had extra clothes available with all the times he shredded his own. He went near naked a lot.

Cheryl Miller is an art student working as an intern for the Onyx corporation. She is also trying to get her final projects ready for graduation from university. Her tutor has always belittled the work she prefers to do, leaving her with low self esteem.
Dragon shifter and CEO Malachite Onyx is under great pressure to make his company successful. He started it to bring his family together. Dragon society is a matriarchal one, and when his mother issues an ultimatum everyone jumps to obey.
Oh this book was so much fun. Our big strong dragon men are really nervous around females, because when in dragon form the females are much bigger and stronger than the males. Our heroine is suddenly in a whirlwind of a relationship with someone who has no clue how to treat a human.
Lots of laughs. I loved it and can't wait for the rest of the series.

A family of dragon aliens need to find wives or they'll be put in arranged marriages by their mother. Malachite barley notices Cheryl (despite the fact shes halfway in love with him) but decides she would make a good wife since they both work for the company. Malachite is always thinking about succeeding with his clothing company, his first love. Cheryl shows Malachite that work isn't all there is to life.

I liked Cheryl's character and her being shy and anxious. It's different then what I usually see with the fearless heroines. Although I'm glad she did stand up for herself in the end. The cultural differences between the dragons and humans were interesting and caused tension between the couple. It was different and while I enjoyed the book, I probably won't read the others in the series.

Freakin AWESOME!!!

This book was epic on so many levels! Growly, dominant, clueless dragon shifter? Check! Quiet, normal, shy virgin heroine? Check!

When Mal is forced to find a wife or face an arranged marriage, he seizes the curvy human who has been drooling over him for months. It’s a perfect solution so he can focus on his company and beating his corporate rival to make the number one spot. So simple. Until love and need get in the way.

I loved the humor of this story. I loved the way that the dragons had trouble understanding human customs and often interpreted expressions super literally. The heroes idea of finding a human wife was hysterical. So funny and endearing. All around a great book and I CANT WAIT to read the rest of the series.

Lacking

This story really hits the spot. I love getting to know the characters who all have distinct crazy intense personalities. They live on Earth with humans but really don't understand them.

The dragons are a matriarchal society and the she-dragons are fierce and deadly. The twist to the story are that the male dragons are only worthy if they mate and produce dragonlings. Got to love this twist that sees the male as a second class entity.

Mal and Cheryl both have self esteem issues and this will lead to some serious misunderstandings,

I have voluntarily read and reviewed this book received from the author without obligation to do so.

Excellent start to the series. Him and his 5 brothers and one sister started a clothing company. They are from Draconis and their Queen wants them home from earth and their mother does too for a different reason. They stall her by several things. One is the oldest marries his intern at the company. Things turn bad when she finds out the real reason for it. They end up having a hot night together and that changes him. She is a shy and low self esteemed person and he is very much an alpha male. This is exciting, suspenseful, hot and so much more. I highly recommend it. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.

I have read other books by this author, and I am very confused about her writing style. It’s like there are two people writing the respective books and using the same pseudonym.

The ridiculous world-building let’s Mal’s mother destroy his company. What follows is page after page of Mal being too stupid to live (TSTL) with a few times of Cheryl being TSTL. No rational man could be so continuously stupid for so long. It finally got so bad I almost DNF’d the book. Frankly, I am stunned by this outcome. I will not be reading further to see if the author improves. I suspect the other Sci-Fi Romances of her’s I have read are some kind of fluke.

YMMV.

Spicy and infuriating

The book was good. Really good. Cute and sexy and funny at points.

Onto infuriating (some spoilers so avoid if you don't want to know)

At one point someone steals the mcs commercial rights to her art (aka they printed and sold her stuff without permission or rights to doso) and I was yelling copyright copyright, intellectual property for chapters. I'm still mad with how it was resolved. It wasn't resolved. I'm still stewing and and honestly it bugs me enough I'm giving the book 3 stars instead of 4. The guy who stole from her deserved to have their building burn to the ground AND get sued for every drop of their money.

2 & 1/2 stars rounded up.
I struggled to finish this book. It felt very immature for the most part & very predictable. There really wasn't much world building to give a feel for the background of things. Some of the stuff happening were too off the wall unbelievable and not because the guys were alien dragons. I really struggled to like the characters, as Cheryl was one of those TSTL characters that nobody in the book loves, that was too much of door matt for me to like. Mal, the MMC, alien dragon, well he was just an ignorant jerk for the most part, I didn't see anything I liked about him. The way he interacted with Cheryl was horrible. I regret finishing the book, as it left me frustrated that I could have read something else instead. Definitely won't be continuing with the series.

Holy hottness!!

This is a great Dragon shifter romance. It's about a woman that likes to be a wallflower, but caught the eye of her rough around his edges boss. Now she will be getting a crash course in Dragon hierarchy. Mal is the oldest of the Onyx siblings and also the most driven. He believes that he is the only way that his family will be free and succeed on Earth. Poor thing doesn't know what he is in for when he picks his quirky spitfire intern to be his wife. It will make you laugh. So good!!

I really enjoyed this book. I was kind of skeptical at first, but actually got right into the story line. Malachite is the CEO of his company and thinks he is the only one who can keep it going. He is dedicated to his company, so much so, that he really has no life outside the company. He also is a dragon shifter. He has been told he needs to get married and produce offspring or return to his home planet and marry the empress. He so doesn't want that! He finds his mate in his intern Cheryl, who really doesn't understand what is going on. Kind of funny in spots. Recommend.

Dragon VIP: Malachite, Starla Night's 1st book in the 7 Virgin Brides for 7 Weredragon Billionaires, is a great start to a new series! The storyline is fast-paced and unique. The characters are endearing and well developed. The connection between the human world and the dragon world is believable. The storyline is filled with adventure, intrigue and romance. I can't wait to continue with the series and see where the story goes!

Guilty pleasure

This is a silly, irreverent and totally ridiculous romp that both thrilled and tickled - a guilty pleasure to be sure. Alien dragons with NO sense of how human females really work, forced by circumstance and family into finding human wives. What could possibly go wrong?

Pros:
- Frankly, it’s adorable.
- Steamy.
- Well edited.
- you’re going to laugh - then want to smack a dragon.
- Amber. LOVE her.

Cons:
- Cheryl is PAINFULLY shy and insecure. I cringed.

Great read

Absoutely loved this book!

I wasn't sure I would like it when I read the blurb that they were alien dragons because I'm not that into the "alien" thing, but this book makes sense out of it and does a great job creating a world that makes sense. Plus, dragons!

The characters are well developed with good backstories and I loved watching Cheryl outgrow her shyness.

Great book!
